Dinner went on without any conversation for some time. Caraline occasionally stole a glance at Deric, refocusing on the meal. The quiet atmosphere coupled with a dinner for two was enough to make the woman nervous. She wondered how this night would end. Would something happen that she wanted or would it be the other way around?

"You seem to like my gift," Deric said, starting the conversation. The man sipped his drink for a moment, returning to enjoying the meal.

"Gift?" Caraline tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Her cheeks were so flushed that she had to look down to cover them. "What gift are you referring to?"

"The earrings you're wearing right now," Deric said, "I've seen you wearing them several times."

"Ah, this is ridiculous." Caraline rolled her eyeballs, blowing air. "I-I like the shape of it. That's all. Besides, wearing these earrings doesn't mean I like what you gave me. I'm not an ungrateful person."

"Alright," said Deric who went back to eating.
