Chapter 13: Playtime

“You gotta be kidding, Zil!” I closed my eyes as she hissed that way with wide eyes. She lowered her voice and said, “You hate vampires to death, how did you end up giving birth to a vampire?”

“She can still hear you, and it was before not now. My daughter is innocent, she had no business with other vampires out there. You better watch your mouth before you hurt my daughter’s feelings.” She blew a harsh breath and sat next to me.

My office room was secure, and no one could overhear us but Zaya could.

“This child truly came from you.” I nodded and looked at me.

“I believe, this happened for a reason, I could not conceive a pure witch since my mother cursed me, and it would be impossible to give birth to a half-human alive since humans are weaker. The Vampire child was stronger, the curse couldn’t touch her, and she even consumed my power. I wouldn’t be able to have a child if she wasn’t a vampire. You know I wanted a child. And destiny gave her to me.”

Duh, over my dead body!” I rolled my eyes and bit my inner cheek to hold my smile. “You should sleep now before you can think of anything operatic again,” I said and left her. I turned my back to the door when she called my name. “Zill…” I stopped but did not bother to turn. “Are you happy now?” “Yeah,” “I see, I can finally sleep at ease. I have been waiting for this, that you finally find what makes you truly happy. It has been decades since we left the coven searching for this.” “Thank you,” what she said was true. I left the coven to find freedom, happiness, and contentment. She came with me because she was raised to serve me and serving me was what she thought was the purpose of her life. I hate to think that she wanted to serve me all her life. I wanted her to have a life too. I hope she’ll find her true purpose here. Not just ser

Chapter 15: The Ghost She Had Been HuntingI did not waste my time and flicked my wand to him, and he was quick enough to avoid it with even his hands in his pocket. Arrogance was what I could see as he stood. He laughed quietly and raised his hand as a sign of surrender. “Nonsense,”I flicked my wand again; a dark electric like coated with purple light came from my wand as I cast dark magic and he just punched it away. I instantly swished my wand again to create a shield before it could hit the wall to prevent anything from breaking. Especially creating any noise that could disturb their sleep. I realized that it would be a wrong idea to fight someone like him; he was quite strong and would surely damage my house. But I needed to take him down quietly; I could not just let him escape. I slowly walked down to the ground floor. I was eyeing his every movement. Then I felt something odd. I felt scared and nervous. I used to be heartless in every battleground. I felt scared to br

  • Immortal Baby    First Family Breakfast

Chapter 16: First Family BreakfastI was in the kitchen preparing our breakfast with Lara while my daughter was with her father. They had been talking since she woke up and I could not find an opportunity to make him leave. “I did not know that he has a very handsome name,” I rolled my eyes and ignored Hella. She wasn’t helping at all. She was just tagging along, with a cup of coffee and would follow my every step. “Oh, I remember, you forgot to ask his name,” I glared at her when Lara froze. Lara secretly glanced at me and I wanted to choke Hella for saying that. I could feel that Lara was wanting to ask me something. “So, it was a one-night stand,” My mood was more ruined when, unfortunately, Mina heard it. “Yeah, as planned,” I turned to Hella again. “Stop it,” I knew she was just teasing me. “Okay-okay, I knew you’re tense. Just calm down okay, he’s cool with it. And I think he wanted a baby too, just like you.” Hella was too cruel to say that. I could not deny that

  • Immortal Baby    Her Cries

Chapter 17: Her CriesOur dinner ended shortly, and he did take the room next to mine at the ground floor while Zaya and Hella’s room was upstairs. My house was not that big to have many spacious rooms. I was annoyed when he commented that the bed was a bit small for him. Did he want to switch rooms with me?After taking Zaya to bed, I went to my room. I did not bother switching the lights off and went straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I rolled my eyes when he passed by behind me. My eyes widened when I realized where he was heading. I hurriedly brushed my teeth and followed him.“Excuse me, your room is that way, sir,” I said and he only closed the door behind me. He walked to the window, and he seemed to be looking for something outside. “What are you doing?”He cringed his forehead and then smiled.“You weren’t cold last time,” I disgustingly looked at him. “Out.”“You didn't treat me like that before,” he suddenly changed his tone. “Stop teasing me, it’s no

How could I admit that I was an assassin? “I am no saint,” I noticed him glancing at me. “Interesting,” he commented. My mind was in chaos, and I felt tense because of his question. I felt like I was caught for my wrongdoings. It was hard for me to confess that I was that kind of person before. The person I introduced to my daughter was far different from who I was.“Let’s just say, I have a dark past,” “I see,” it was good that he did not ask for more. “Where are we going?”“To a friend, he lives in a town called Smallville, but we have to stop at my condo around here. You must take a rest,” he said and drove to a building. He carried Zaya while I was following them. He opened the 9th unit, and his place was neat but small. He explained, “I used to stay here when I was hiding,” I nodded and walked in. “Hiding fr

  • Immortal Baby    Smallville

Chapter 19: Smallville I finished washing the plates and he was still silent. So, I guess, I should just tell him anyway.“I’m almost thirty. I already have everything I wanted before: fame, wealth, power, and freedom, but I’m lonely. I noticed women my age having babies. Having a baby almost cost them their lives, yet they were smiling. I wonder what children could do to your life. And I was not wrong. The fulfillment when I had Zaya was different.”He looked stunned to speak. “Why didn’t you find someone like you and have a normal family?” “I was cursed to never be able to give birth to a witch by my mother. She wanted me to never have a child. So, I tried to have a child with a human and then left him after. That way, I would not be bearing a pure witch, right? But I did not know you were a vampire.”That was hard to understand but I hope he won't think I’m weird. “It’s weird, I know,”“Yeah,” his answer did not make me feel better. I walked to her room to check if she

Chapter 20: Lord Vander’s MercyI did not expect that they’d be talking longer than usual and Zaya fell asleep on my lap. My head swiftly moved when I heard the door cracked open. Luem carefully opened the door and a foot got in, but he stopped there. “I need you there, he wanted to have a word with you,” he spoke just enough for me to hear him. “Who’ll look after her?” He looked down at my daughter.“Please,” instead of assuring me that she’d be fine in here. I was caught off guard. I underestimated him way too much; I should know that he knew I could create a barrier to protect our daughter while were out there. I did not say that because I was afraid to leave her here but because I did not want to talk to Lord Vander. He wasn’t senseless at all.I nodded after sighing in defeat. Walking behind him irritates me and my reflexes walked fast so I could be a few steps ahead. We reached at dinning shortly and I sat on the chair across Lord Vander uninvitedly. He was eyeing me li

We can entrust Zaya to him while we are settling this problem. We cannot run around chased by executors with her, we need to keep her safe until the moment that they are ready to accept my daughter. We cannot risk her wellness traveling in various weather conditions, sleeping in the woods, and being in the middle of battles we’ll be facing ahead.”“I knew that something like that would happen, but I was in denial that I would be dragging my daughter to a battlefield. I still believe that as long as she’s with me, she’ll be safer than anywhere. Can you blame a mother like me? If that’s what you are planning then,

Chapter 37: In the RunDays passed but it was alarmingly peaceful. We were traveling happily; I was worried that we might have laid back and lowered our guard. My gut says we should be more careful but I didn’t want to cut the moment. It was a treasure for me to see my family this happy. While on the run, I felt something chasing us. I turned to Luem and he already noticed it. Kiel ran and moved to the planned formation. He had to run between me and Luem while carrying Zaya. The look on my daughter’s face was enough for me to know that she was scared and knew everything around her, even without us discussing it. I looked at Kiel and he nodded. I cast an illusion to confuse the pursuer. We did shake them off, but another troop was in the run too. We ran different ways at the same time. I cast another illusion to cover Kiel as he escapes and activate his camouflage. I was already alone and stopped when I had to recover my breath. Yet they were wise to attack me before I c

I was a baby and did not realize that this place is worth fighting for.” I could lie flawlessly, but not to my daughter, who knew me well. “You were lost,” I smiled when she said that. “Maybe,” “And angry,” I nodded. “I can feel that there is something big coming, Mom.” I shouldn’t lie but I could not tell her either. “I’m scared.” “What do you mean?” “I can hear every footstep, the hush of the wind, the flow of the river, the drop of the water, even the flopping wings of the birds moving in a hurry. Dusk is coming this way too fast.” Shiver kissed my nerves by just listening to my daughter say things that shouldn’t be spoken by a chi

He was not feeling it when I spoke to him afterward When my daughter came with Kiel from her hiding place, I hugged her. “How are you, my love? Are you hurt?” I asked and checked her all over. My little girl shook her head, and I was proud that she was okay. I looked at Kiel behind her who just crossed his arms. “I’m fine mom, Uncle Kiel was great at hiding.” She cheerfully answered. A few meters away, there was her father sulking like a baby. Like I would go after him. “We must find somewhere to stay, it’s getting dark,” I said, and she nodded. We started walking without asking Luem to come with us. Let him vent out his steams somewhere. I am not dealing with him. “Dad, let’s go.” My daughter called him. He quietly followed while Kiel was leading the way. It was already dark, and we could not find somewhere hidden. “We don’t have time to find a place, le

Chapter 34: Werewolves Ambush Zaya’s POVIt has been two days and my mother has not returned. My father was growing increasingly anxious, and I found it difficult to approach him. He would often stand with his arms crossed, gazing at the door, and would inquire about my well-being in a somber tone. His speech became sparse as he delved into profound contemplation. He never left after he knew Mom was not here. However, Uncle Kiel had been teaching me how to enhance my ability when Dad would zone out. Then he suddenly stood up from his seat and looked above us. Uncle Kiel seemed alarmed too. I focused on my ears, and I did hear footsteps. Fast, faint, and swift. Mom should fly on a broomstick. Then suddenly it went quiet. Dad looked at Uncle Kiel and Uncle picked me up. Enemies. I should fight too. Then, the door was pushed open. Dad jumped on the big wolf and rode on it. His hands were around its neck, and I heard its bones crack and then fall. Dad swiftly moved to anothe

Chapter 33: Silent Cries Zaya’s POV I watched my mother leave and close the door behind her. And I dropped the act of toughing it out. I glanced at Uncle Kiel who did not care at all. I slowly walked back to the room, “I want to sleep for more, Uncle Kiel.” I said and closed the door. As soon as I locked the door, tears started pooling around my eyes. What have I done? I don’t get it at all. My mom has suffered enough, my parents fought for me. Aunt Hella died, and I never heard from my family back on the farm. Why did we have to fight? Maybe we could just surrender, and I could die for everyone. I felt sad but I did not want to cry. Whenever Mom was not looking, I felt my knees weakening, and scared. I sat on the floor and hug knees. I should not be scared, I should not feel lonely, and Mom and Dad will make things better. Eventually, everything should be fine. • Immortal Baby    Memories in Tears

Chapter 31: Memories in TearsZil’s POV 18 years ago It was raining cats and dogs when I noticed my mother leaving again. She put on her cape and left the room. I followed her until I saw her open the golden door. No one was allowed to enter that door. It was the coven law made by our grandmother. Our elders said that a powerful creature was hidden inside that kept the mountain alive and magical. For decades, because of the creatures hidden inside there, we never need to travel to other places to gather everything we need to live. Mother easily opened the door. A certain enchantment that I did not recognize. Every word was embedded in my head. The question of what that meant was left unanswered. Days passed and Mom hadn’t returned. Then weeks, and months, I patiently waited. One morning she returned as if she was not unseen for a few months. “Mom, I saw you in the woods at the secret mountain. You opened t

When I exited the room, I saw Kiel. He was sitting where he would usually sit and seemed in deep thought. “Can I have a word?” “You don’t trust me, as far as I remember.” “You offered shelter for a few days, so I should reconsider,” he does have a cold aura, but I’ve met more dangerous men before and I could say that he’s still a baby. “If you’re going to ask a favor, I am not your husband to boss around.
