“What’s wrong?” Ace came to my side and studied me. “I thought that you would be...happy?”
I looked up at Ace, my lips tried moving and forming the right words out. “She’s...I…” I turned my attention back to Stella, who seemed uncomfortable whenever I looked at her. My heartache especially when she tried to hide behind the queen. “She’s different...she’s...older.” I muttered as I pictured what Stella looked like the last time I saw her.
My legs began to move all on their own. Viex jumped onto my shoulder while Custard simply walked with me as I approached her.
Queen Siera moved to the side so I would be able to see her. “Go on, child.” She gently pushed Stella towards me. Stella hesitated for a bit, but came to face me l
His name is…” Stella hesitated as she glanced at her friend Leo. When the little boy seemed nervous as he exchanged a look with my sister. Viex let out a sound that caught Stella’s attention. I saw Viex nodding at her in encouragement. Stella nodded back and looked at me. “His name is Kellar, and he’s the son of king Ferius.” My body tenses up at the name and I looked at the child. The boy, Leo or Kellar, seemed both ashamed and nervous under my scrutinizing gaze. “But he’s not bad! I swear.” Stella says and waved her hands to catch my attention. “He’s nothing like his brothers and father.” She insisted. My mouth opened and closed like a fish. I badly wanted to point out all the red flags about having the son of King Ferius here and the threat that it would bring. But I stopped myself because I didn’t want to see
As we were ushered into the safety of the castle, we could not help but notice all of the elven soldiers marching out in different directions and coming into multiple platoons. All of them were dressed in dark green outfits that would blend pretty well with the environment. “This way, highnesses.” The elves who escorted us ushered us to the same rehabilitation room. Once we got inside, we found Ace pushing Nora behind his back. On one of his hands has his bow ready and pointing the sharpened edge towards us. When he saw who we were, he immediately lowered his weapon. He frowned. “What? Do I have to babysit the rest of them? I only care about protecting Nora!” He protested. “Apologies, your highness. But it was Queen Sierra's orders to keep the guests as close as possible.” One of them said.
“Ace? I think you might have hit your head on something while you were in Tereau, because there’s no way that it’s possible.” I said as I pictured out the size of the bark surrounding Tordis. “There’s no way that you can manage that on your own!”“That’s the reason why I have this thing in the first place.” He says while gesturing at the orb inside the bag. “It will provide me the magic that I lack to fully restore the tree.”I placed my hand on my hips and breathed deeply. “Where the hell did you get this crazy idea? And how sure are you that this is going to work? Don’t tell me reading all those fantasy novels in my realm fueled this idea. Ace, I’m the one who should be coming up with crazy ideas! Not you.” I pointed at him. “You should be the guy who gives o
My ears were ringing when I opened my eyes. The first thing that I noticed was Viex and Custard laying beside me. Viex was back to his smaller form. He and Custard were just waking up when I saw someone crouching down. “Rose! Wakeup.” It was harder for me to identify the voice because of the ringing in my ears. And my vision was still trying to recover. “Ren?” I wondered out loud when his features started to become clearer. I saw him breathing out a sigh of relief when I responded. He helped push me back into a sitting position. And then I saw them. In front of us was Queen Siera crying as she clutched the king’s lifeless body in her hands. Then my eyes switched to Eltur and Darem who were trying to shake Ace awake.
News of the Elf King’s death spread like wildfire. Every kingdom heard the story and how king Ferius launched a full-on attack on Tordis. How it survived thanks to the king and young prince’s sacrifice that the Kingdom is still standing.Because of this, they started to remember how Gija was annihilated and most kingdoms began to panic. We went back to Thalia along with Stella and Kellar after attending the burial of the Elf King.Stella has been enjoying accompanying King Luke in the greenhouse and sharing her knowledge with him. King Luke was pretty thrilled at the idea and I have this suspicion that he was picturing himself as a father figure to her. I guess, he kind of got that opportunity of becoming a dad seeing as how he treated Stella like his own daughter.
I got off of Viex to face him fully. I have to admit that I almost forgot that he was going to be here with all that has happened. Fred, the new King of Hazel, was accompanied by two attendants who were looking at me warily. I frowned at their gazes. It was pretty obvious which side they were on. The king of Hazel followed my gaze when he noticed the look on my face. “If you two have a problem with me talking to the princess then you are both dismissed.” He simply told them. One of them, a brown-haired man who looked like he was in his mid 30’s, started to protest. “Sire, she-” Fred cut him off. “Have I not made myself clear? Very well, then. The two of you are dismissed.” The man started to speak, but the ot
“Hello?” Ace was asking me but I refused to turn around and look at him.I can’t I am not ready yet.“Aha..ha.” I choked on my spit as I laughed. “Thank you. And sorry about that.” I straightened myself up and fixed my shirt consciously. I sure hope that I did not smell since I was still wearing my training uniform.Viex, the traitorous fox, switched to Stella as soon as I fell back. The two of them were now sharing a look as they watched how awkward the situation is.“You seem familiar.” I heard him say. “Your...your presence that is.” I could hear him moving to my front in order to see my face. I began to panic and moved as well just to avoid making eye contact with him.
I stood in front of the door where the royals and nobles were probably discussing mine and my sister’s future. I raised my hand to knock, but I hesitated. Even from here, I could hear inaudible yellings and growls from a certain beast-men. I was pretty sure that it was Ren and Dan. “Are you sure you want to go inside?” Ace was stood beside me. His eyes were looking at me with worry, not because of my decision, but whether or not I can take the pressure that I would be put through. “Not gonna lie. I want to run away from here as fast as possible, but that would cause more trouble instead. And how can they respect a princess who just hides under the shadows of others?” I said it after a sigh. “I’ll go with you then.” He offered.
“I see.” Sophie, the seer that I met a long time ago when I went to Hazel, laughs. “Now do you believe the prophecy?” “He is rich, I have to tell you that.” I joked and laughed along with her. Sophie has become a close advisor to King Fred. She was the last seer in the lands and is now being taken care of. “So, is my guess right?” I asked hopefully. Sophie gave me a look as she nodded. “Congratulations, Queen Rosalie. You are - ” She was cut off when Custard lets out a yelp. ‘Master master! Arcielia keeps on pulling on my tail.’ Custard whimpered as he sat on the floor with his head and ears down. “Sorry, Custard.” I said before I fixed a look at a young girl. Her hair is as dark as her father while her eyes are as blue
The guy lets out a scream as his other friend pulled him away from the stranger, who was now standing in front of me as if shielding me from my two attackers. “Leave. Or would you like me to break your jaws and feed you that...glass thing that you are holding?”Glass thing? Does he mean the can of beer? But it’s not even GLASS!“You two aren’t moving. Would you like me to break something else?” He asked menacingly and started moving forward. The two immediately ran away in a haste the longer they continued to look at the guy.As soon as they were gone, I looked at the man warily. His back was still facing me that I can’t even tell what he looks like at the moment. “Thank you.” I blurted out.The moment I spoke,
****2 Years Later in The Human Realm****I was bouncing on my toes as I waited for my teammate to pass me the baton. I was already at a pretty slow pace in order for her to be able to hand it over to me.“Please, Rose. Hurry!” My teammate pleaded with me.I gave her a reassuring smile as I got the baton in my hands and began to run. My mind focused on my own path. As soon as the wind hit my face, nostalgia suddenly hit me and I feel as if I was running in a different with different people. One was a red-head and the other one was a brunette.Despite the crowd in the background, all I could hear were the cheers of these two imaginary men.‘Go on, Rose. You can do it.’
“LOOK OUT!” Ace came forward and shielded me. In the process, Ace’s arm got a second-degree burn. Ace winced in pain as he immediately removed the sleeve on that particular arm.“No…” I whispered. Horrified at what I saw. Then I turned to glare murderously at Camille. “It was you, wasn’t it? You set him free!”Instead of looking guilty, Camille had a crazed look in her eyes. “Nate is mine. He is mine. If it weren’t for you then I would have become his queen!”“Nate and I are not in that kind of relationship!” I told her. “And he doesn’t belong to anyone!”But as hard as I tried to convince her, it seemed like Camille couldn’t hear any of it as she just screa
“Ow!”“Camille?” I gasped as soon as I saw the fairy princess emerging from under my bed with a swollen eye from my hit. Can’t say I don’t regret it. “What are you doing here? And why are you in my room?” I demanded.“Give me that!” Camille charged at me with her eyes fixed on the chalice.“Hey! What are you doing?” I moved my hand back, the one that was holding the chalice as Camille continued to charge at me with a crazy look in her eyes.“That’s what they wanted, right? Just give it to them!” She yelled at me and attempted to grab it this time with flames igniting from her hands.“You don’t even know what this is. Ba
Everyone was quiet as we all let the information sink in. When I thought about it, it all made sense now. Luke was the one that we were looking for. The only thing is, he is not exactly a traitor, just controlled by something that he cannot fight.“Hang on, who attacked Luke in the greenhouse?” I asked. “I mean, the place was basically a mess.”“He did that to himself,” Stella says. “As soon as he realized that Ferius was looking and hearing events of what was happening, he put himself to sleep to purposely stop Ferius from knowing of our plans. But upon realizing this, Ferius tried to take control over him. That was why the dose of the sleeping potion that he took was too much as to put him in a temporary coma.”“I see.” Ace and I exchanged a look.
‘Princess, focus!’ I felt Viex slumping down when the supply of magic that I was giving him was cut off. In that brief moment of weakness, a few rogues were able to catch on and started targeting us instead. I got down from Viex as he was still trying to recover from the unstable magic. Custard and I managed to handle a few of them with our backs facing Viex to protect him. ‘Princess, behind you!’ Viex yelled as a warning. When I looked back, I saw a leopard pouncing at me. Custard blocked its path but the leopard didn’t fully reach us when a hood figured appeared, landed on the leopard’s back in midair, and plunge his blade to its neck. As they both landed on the ground, Ace took his hood and pulled me until I w
I woke up early the next day as we all started to prepare ourselves. But I, on the other hand, woke up especially early because I wanted to make sure that everything was settled. Plus, I was getting nervous about all of this as well that I just can’t get a few more minutes of a shut-eye. I already have my shirt, chainmail, vest, trousers, and boots on. Now, I was contemplating wearing the gloves that Eltur and Darem gave me, but I decided against it as it would only hinder my grip on my whip. As I got out, I noticed that Nate was outside of his tent as well and just doing a few stretches. He must have heard me stepping out because he looked back with a tired and nervous smile on his face. “Hey. Good morning, Rose.” He greeted me. “Morning, Nate.” I greeted his back as I held the tent open for Custard and
Nate and I headed for the larger tent in the area. He told me that it was where all the royals are supposed to gather for the briefing.Nate opened the tent for me go to inside, but before I could even enter, I heard two familiar voices behind me. “I almost cried. You look so much more independent compared to the last time that we saw you. I just hope that you really are what you look like from the outside.”It was Custard who first reacted. He lets out a howl and ran behind me. ‘Master Ren!’I turned just in time to see Ren picking Custard up on the ground as Custard showered him with adoring kisses. The twins were humbly wearing plain shirts like what we usually wore in training. And judging by the looks on their faces, I can only guess that t
