ISLA’S POV

Before we left, Daniel looked at Victor and said meaningfully, "Don’t forget what you should do." His tone carried a weight that made me pause for a moment. It was clearly directed at Victor, but I had no idea what he meant. I glanced between them, but neither elaborated.

Victor didn’t respond, but something about the way he tensed told me he understood. I considered asking, but before I could, Daniel gave me a reassuring smile and said, "Take care, Isla."

Victor gestured toward his car. "Let’s go. I’ll drive you home."

I nodded, not thinking much about Daniel’s words. Whatever it was, it was between them.

The drive home was quiet at first. I didn’t know what to say, and Victor kept stealing glances at me, his expression softer than usual. I could feel the weight of his gaze, and it made my heart beat faster.

Finally, I broke the silence.

"Victor, why did you act like that earlier? At Daniel’s house?"

His jaw clenched slightly. "Like what?"

I turned in my seat to face h

Victor’s POVWhen I got home, I still couldn’t stop thinking about Isla. No matter how much I tried to push her from my mind, her presence lingered—her voice, her scent, the way she had looked at me with those wide, uncertain eyes before running into her apartment. I could still feel the warmth of her lips against mine, the way she had responded, hesitant at first, then melting into me. It wasn’t just about desire—I wanted her, yes, but there was more to it. She made me feel something I hadn’t in a long time. A strange warmth in my chest, an ache I couldn’t quite name. But then, Daniel’s words echoed in my mind like a glass of cold water splashed over me. "Don’t forget what you should do."His reminder grounded me. He was right—I knew it. No matter how much I was drawn to Isla, I couldn’t afford to forget the real reason I had approached her in the first place. If she ever found out that I had initially gotten close to her because of this case, she would hate me. I had no doubt about

His refusal to talk, his family’s sudden relocation overseas, and now his connection to Stratos Corp—it was all too suspicious. And now there was Lyra Holdings, a ghost company moving money in the shadows. Someone powerful was pulling the strings, and I needed to find out who before it was too late. But amidst all the chaos in my head, there was one thought that kept surfacing—Isla.Just thinking about her softened my tense muscles. The way she had looked at me before running into her apartment a few nights ago, the way she had responded to my kiss... I wanted to see her. Hold her.A knock on my office door pulled me from my thoughts."Come in," I called. The door opened, and there she was—Isla. She stepped inside with her usual confidence, but I noticed the way her gaze flickered across my face as if she was checking if I was okay. VICTOR’S POV After everything that had happened recently, Isla was all I could think about. Work, investigations, and even Daniel’s constant warnings faded into the background when she was around. I wasn’t the type of man who got distracted easily, but with her, it was different. I wanted to take her on a real date—something special, something that showed I wasn’t just toying with this. But the problem was, I had no idea what counted as a "perfect" date. Fancy restaurants? A private dinner on a rooftop? Something simple like a long walk by the waterfront? I had spent years making high-stakes decisions, but somehow, this felt harder than any business deal I had ever closed. For the first time in years, I felt nervous about something that had nothing to do with danger. And against my better judgment, I called Daniel. It felt ridiculous—me, calling him for dating advice—but I needed a second opinion. I could already hear the amusement in his voice before he even said anything. “You

ISLA’S POV Things with Victor had been going so well lately. Almost too well. He was attentive, caring, and thoughtful in ways that caught me off guard. Checking in on me, making sure I ate, walking me to my car at night—it was almost too perfect. I wasn’t complaining. In fact, I liked it. Maybe a little too much. But there was something about it that made me wonder. Why did it feel like he was trying too hard? With Daniel, everything had been effortless. It felt natural, like there was never a need to overthink things. But with Victor, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something beneath the surface, something he wasn’t telling me. And then there was Sterling Corporation’s contract issue. Victor’s company had been trying to secure a huge deal with Harper & Co., a multi-billion-dollar fashion distributor. It was supposed to be a done deal, something that would solidify Sterling Corporation’s reputation in the industry. But out of nowhere, a competitor swooped in and

ISLA'S POVOn the day I met with Judith, I noticed a missed call from Daniel. It had been a while since I last spoke to him, and seeing his name on my screen made me pause. A small part of me felt guilty for not picking up earlier. After everything that had happened at his birthday party, I hadn't expected him to reach out.I hadn’t called Daniel back since the missed call for a few reasons.First, things had been hectic. Between work, Victor, and my own conflicting emotions, I barely had time to think. The unexpected competition for the Harper & Co. contract had put extra pressure on Victor, which indirectly affected me too. Sterling Corporation was struggling, and Victor had been distant, leaving me unsure of where we stood and I wasn’t sure how to handle things with him after the way I left his birthday party, I worried he might think I was avoiding him. I didn’t want him to feel used or like I was stringing him along.Taking a deep breath, I dialed his number. The phone barely r

ISLA'S POVA few hours after my conversation with Daniel, I found myself replaying it in my head—and with every passing minute, I regretted saying yes to dinner. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to spend time with him. Daniel was charming, funny, and easy to talk to. But something about this particular dinner felt… different.Maybe it was the way he had asked. Maybe it was the way his voice had softened when he said my name. Or maybe it was my own guilty conscience gnawing at me. Either way, I couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling settling in my stomach.I glanced at my phone, debating whether to cancel. Would it be rude to back out last minute? Before I could decide, my phone buzzed with a message from Daniel. I hesitated before opening it, my heart skipping a beat.Daniel: Can’t wait to see you tonight. Here’s the address.I clicked on the location out of curiosity, and my eyes widened in shock. That restaurant? The one celebrities and high-profile figures dined at? The one where a single m

VICTOR’S POVMy company had been on the verge of securing a multi-billion-dollar contract with Harper & Co., a global retail giant known for its high-end stores and exclusive fashion collaborations. This deal wasn’t just about money—it was about power, prestige, and dominance in the luxury fashion industry. For months, we had gone through intense negotiations, refining every detail to match their vision. Everything had been set for final approval. The contract was practically ours. Then, at the last moment, an unknown company swooped in and stole it.It made no sense. No one had even heard of them before. They weren’t listed among our competitors, had no track record in high fashion, and had never been in discussions for the deal. Yet, somehow, they had convinced Harper & Co. to choose them over us.I arranged a private meeting with Robert Harper, the CEO of Harper & Co., at an upscale restaurant. We had worked together for years, and I expected a conversation—maybe an explanation, or

ISLA’S POVThe moment my eyes met Victor’s, a strange feeling hit me—guilt. I had no reason to feel this way, but something about his expression made me uneasy. His sharp gaze held a mix of anger, disappointment, and something else I couldn’t quite place. It was as if he had walked in expecting one thing and found something entirely different.Across from me, Daniel looked confused, like he was trying to piece together what was happening. I could feel the tension crackling between the three of us, thick and suffocating.Daniel, always the gentleman, stood up and greeted Victor. “Victor, I didn’t expect to see you here. Isla and I are just having dinner. If you don’t mind, you can join us,” he said casually, his voice calm.I winced. That only made things worse. Victor’s jaw clenched, his eyes darkened, and without a word, he turned on his heel and stormed out of the restaurant. My heart dropped. He misunderstood. He thoughtPanic surged through me. VICTOR'S POVAs I watched Damian being dragged away in cuffs, I thought I would feel something—relief, satisfaction, maybe even peace. After all, he was finally facing justice for everything he had done, for all the lives he had destroyed. But instead, I felt… nothing. There was no triumph in my heart, no sense of victory. Just an empty weight pressing down on me.I glanced at Isla, and I could tell she felt the same way. Her expression was unreadable, but the slight tension in her shoulders and the way she exhaled slowly told me she was struggling to process it all. She turned to me, her eyes filled with something unspoken, and then, without a word, she wrapped her arms around me.“At least he’s going away for a long time,” she murmured, her voice soft against my shoulder.I nodded, closing my eyes for a brief moment as I found a small measure of comfort in her embrace. Isla had been through so much—her father’s death, being manipulated by Damian, and now seeing justice finally serve

VICTOR’S POVThe moment the arrest warrant for Damian Lannister was issued, law enforcement officers were dispatched to his residence. However, when they arrived, he was nowhere to be found."Suspect is not at the residence. No sign of forced entry or rushed departure. Repeat, the suspect is not at home," a police officer’s voice crackled through Daniel’s radio.I was with Daniel when the report came in, and the moment we heard those words, we exchanged a knowing look. We didn’t need to say it aloud—we both understood exactly what this meant.Damian was trying to flee.“Damn it,” Daniel muttered under his breath. “He’s not going to face justice willingly.”My fists clenched as my mind raced through the possibilities. He had the money, the power, and the connections to disappear without a trace. If he got away now, we might never catch him.We needed to act. Fast.“We have to think like him,” I said urgently. “Where would he go? What’s his exit strategy?”Isla, who had been standing be

VICTOR'S POVThe hospital felt like a prison. No, worse—it felt like a graveyard.I sat in the cold, sterile hallway, my hands gripping the edges of my chair as if letting go would send me spiraling into nothingness. The weight of everything crushed my chest. I had won the battle, but I had lost the war.My grandfather was gone.Emma had lost our baby. What kind of victory was this?I felt hollow, a walking corpse moving through the motions of arranging my grandfather’s body with the hospital staff. The doctor stood in front of me, speaking in a calm, professional tone, but his words barely registered.“We’ll need to finalize the paperwork for the body transfer, your grandfather the doctor said, his voice measured and sympathetic.I swallowed hard. “And then?” My voice was hoarse, barely recognizable even to myself.“We’ll arrange for the morgue to hold him until the funeral home takes over. Do you have any preferences for the arrangements?”Preferences? What kind of preference could

VICTOR’S POVI had won the battle. But at what cost?As I stood there, watching the video Damian had sent, a crushing weight settled on my chest. The pain was unbearable, like a blade slicing through my soul. My hands trembled, my breath came in ragged gasps, and my vision blurred with unshed tears. My grandfather was dead.Emma had lost her baby. The very people I had fought to protect had suffered because of me.I thought I was doing the right thing. I thought I was fighting for justice, for the truth. But now, standing in the wreckage of my choices, it felt like I had lost everything.A hollow laugh escaped my lips, but there was no humor in it. Just pain. Deep, consuming pain.I clenched my fists, my entire body shaking with rage. “I’m going to kill him,” I growled.Daniel, who had been standing beside me, grabbed my arm. “Victor, don’t.”I turned to him, my eyes burning with fury. “After everything he’s done, you expect me to just stand here and do nothing?”Daniel’s grip tight

  • IT'S A JOB, NOT A RELATIONSHIP, MR. BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 80 :THE FINAL CARD

DAMIAN'S POV The event was a grand display of wealth and power—just the way I liked it. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the room filled with New York’s most influential businessmen, politicians, and socialites. Waiters dressed in black moved smoothly through the crowd, offering glasses of champagne on silver trays.I walked through the hall with my usual composed confidence, acknowledging familiar faces with nods and brief smiles. It was the same routine—handshakes, fake smiles, subtle power plays woven into casual conversation. These events were a necessary evil, a way to keep my business untouchable in the eyes of the public. But tonight was different.Because tonight, Isla was with me.She stood beside me, poised and elegant in a Red dress that hugged her figure in just the right way—not too revealing, but enough to draw attention. And attention she got. Men stole glances at her as we walked, their eyes lingering a little too long. It amused me.

  • IT'S A JOB, NOT A RELATIONSHIP, MR. BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 79: BREAKING IN

VICTOR’S POVDamian’s house was bigger than I expected, but it wasn’t the fortress I had assumed it would be. I had imagined layers of security—armed guards patrolling every corner, motion detectors, hidden cameras in every inch of the place. But as we crept toward the house, staying in the shadows, I realized it was just like any other high-end home. There were cameras, of course, but nothing we couldn’t handle. The back entrance had a security panel, but Daniel worked fast, bypassing it in under a minute. The doors unlocked with a soft click, and we slipped inside, silent as ghosts. The interior was sleek and modern—dark wood, marble floors, and dim lighting that cast shadows across the expensive furniture. The house smelled of leather and faint cigar smoke, and for a second, I could almost hear Damian’s voice echoing in the space, giving orders like a king in his castle. We moved carefully, our footsteps barely making a sound. I led the way, knowing exactly where we were headed. Th

ISLA’S POV The first few days at Titan Holdings had been exhausting, not just because of the workload but because I had to constantly watch my every move. I had to be Isla—the talented designer, the ambitious woman looking for a fresh start—not Isla, the woman secretly plotting to bring down the very company that had hired her. And it wasn’t easy. Damian was testing me. Victor, Daniel, and I had expected this. Damian wasn’t stupid. He wouldn’t just believe that I had joined his company because he had offered me a better job. He would suspect there was more to my presence, and that meant I had to be careful. Every word, every action had to seem natural. Still, I wasn’t here just to play it safe. I had a job to do. I had already made an impact—one of my designs had attracted a million-dollar contract, putting me in the spotlight. The executives had praised me, and even Damian had acknowledged my work. But none of that mattered. I was here for one reason—to take him down.

  • IT'S A JOB, NOT A RELATIONSHIP, MR. BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 77: PLAYING WITH FIRE

ISLA’S POVWalking into Titan Holdings felt surreal. The polished marble floors gleamed under the bright lights, and the scent of expensive cologne lingered in the air. It was a world of power and precision, where people in tailored suits moved with purpose, their gazes sharp, their expressions unreadable.I kept my posture straight, chin lifted, eyes scanning everything as subtly as possible. This wasn’t just another job.I was here for a reason.Despite my confidence, a part of me couldn’t shake the unease in my gut. The feeling of being watched. It wasn’t blatant, nothing obvious, but I knew I wasn’t imagining it. There were moments when I caught a shadow moving just beyond my line of sight, or a presence lingering too long in the hallway near my office. It could have been paranoia, but I doubted it.Damian wasn’t stupid. He knew people. He read them. And right now, I was the biggest mystery in his world. The first few days were an adjustment. Damian had placed me in the design d

DAMIAN'S POVI sat behind my desk, watching the city skyline stretch endlessly before me. The glass of whiskey in my hand remained untouched, the amber liquid catching the light. My mind, however, was far from the serene view.Isla had accepted my offer.I leaned back, tapping my fingers against the armrest of my chair. She wasn’t the type to make impulsive decisions. Which meant this was calculated. The question was—what was her angle?Victor had made his stance clear—he wasn’t backing down. I had anticipated him to put up a fight, but I didn’t expect Isla to step away from his side so easily. Unless, of course, something had happened between them. Something that pushed her straight into my hands.A slow smirk tugged at my lips. Whatever it was, I intended to find out.A soft knock came at the door before Samson stepped in. "She’s here."I downed the rest of my whiskey and stood, smoothing the sleeves of my suit. "Let’s not keep her waiting, then."Samson led the way to the executive
