Even if it were our nature to destroy and lead them astray, there were only a few things a demon could do in a human's life to keep them from going down the wrong path. But when a human falls too deeply in the wrong direction—like a demon in love—we would do everything we could to make sure they did not succumb to their inner desires and set the world on fire.

But at this point, I felt like all of my efforts had been in vain. I realized that leaving him even for a moment meant a bigger disaster that would further erode his humanity and turn him into a bloodthirsty monster.
