(Kai's Point Of View)

After my shift was over at 10:30 pm, I sauntered down the desolated pathway that steered to my basement with a paper bag of leftovers.

My mind trotted back to what happened at school and the restaurant.

What was going on with me?

Sleepwalking and daydreaming, that had never happened to me in a while. The last time I sleep walk was a detailed calamity and I was 10, still living under the roof of my dad and stepmom, it was the same night that I was bounced out with my brother. I swore never to sleepwalk again and it had been uneventful till now.

Nothing favorable ever happened whenever I fantasize or sleepwalk.

With a sigh, I grabbed the handle of my basement door but found it unlocked. No one had a spare key except...

I nudged the door open and went inside and was saluted with my room hurled upside down while Rhory and his mate Keir inhabited the only chairs beside my study desk.

"Ah, look who finally decided to show up, isn't it my precious kid brother," Rhory heckled, standing and advancing toward me. His gaze flicked to the paper bag on my hand and snatched it from my grasp. "You brought dinner, I'm so hungry,"

My hands balled into tight fists. "Why did you do this to my room, Rhory?"

He shrugged at my question, ambled towards his mate, and extended the bag to him. Keir was almost a bastard, two bastards were brought together as soulmates, the meticulous match.

"I needed money, so I thought you had hidden some under your bed, so I flipped it!" He chuckled while I matched forward and seized my dinner from Keir, earning a brilliant glare from the male.

"Give it back!" Rhory brown eyes blazed.

"Get the fuck out of my room, you won't find any money cause you took all of it the last time you were here!"

He charged toward me and clutched my collar. "You are talking back now, huh?" He asserted and I roughly jostled him on the chest and put a reasonable amount of distance between us. Keir was immediately by his side.

"You took the only money I had and now I can't pay Ms. Charlie of her rent. You are not welcome here, get the fuck out!" I shrieked at the top of my voice, feeling so ruffled. I thought I had gotten rid of him for good, I thought he was done with me when he left me to perish under that bridge, damp and quivering. Why was my luck so rotten that he had to find me five years later?!

"You owe me, Kai. You better shut your mouth before I slam you against the wall!"

Owe him? I nearly laughed at the absurdity of those words. "I owe you nothing, Rhory. It's not my deficiency dad threw you out for your flamboyant lifestyle!"

I watched him chortle at my words as if it was the silliest shit he had ever given attention to along with Keir, his stupid mate.

He strode closer, his brown eyes glistening with an anonymous twinkle that didn't resolve well in my stomach, I stepped back knowing what was about to come. "Who said it was because of that I was thrown out?" He got nigher. "They had never cared about how I lived my teen till you fucking ranted me out and then you freaking set the whole house on fire with your fucking sleepwalking habits. They kicked us because they also had nowhere to go and when I left you at that bridge, I thought I had finally gotten rid of you and then I saw you again and realized you owe me too much for me to let go, I am here to collect and am not leaving till both of us are filled with grey hairs, Perhaps in our graves!"

"That's if you live that long!" I yelled and his jaw locked and he grabbed my collar and yanked me close to his face before slamming me on the hard wall.

"Repeat that and I might just put both of us out of our misery," he let go of my collar and grabbed my neck instead, giving it a rough squeeze while Keir snatched the paper bag from my hand again.

"And I will take this, thank you!" He chuckled. He brought the paper bag to his nose and inhaled. "This smells so good,"

"You can't have that, it's mine!"

Keir got closer to my face and giggled. Crazy fuck! "What's yours is ours, I thought we've already made that agreement dear brother-in-law," he tapped my cheeks and stepped back. "Let's go Rhory, we already have our dinner, there's no need wasting time here,"

Rhory finally let go of my neck and stepped back, throwing an arm over Keir's shoulder. "Consider yourself lucky but I will be back and you better have enough to give or I'm going to beat the shit out of you!"

I glared and watched them leave unable to do anything as they left with my meal for the night again.

I looked around my sparse room and sighed. I didn't bother reaching anything as I strolled out of the room, slamming the door shut, and strolled over to Ms. Charlie's door at the far edge of the building.

Reaching there, I knocked on the door and it opened to reveal a grumbling Ms. Charlie. "What!" She snapped at me. "Don't you fucking sleep, you young people are so irksome,"

I bowed apologetically. "I'm sorry Ms. Charlie but I have your money," I slipped my hand into my jacket and took out the money that was immediately snatched from my grasp.

"Where did you get this cause earlier you were wailing!" She said without looking up at me as she counted the notes.

"I borrowed from a friend," I answered. "I will take my leave now, goodnight, Ms. Charlie," I turned on my heels, ready to leave till she called me back.

"Wait, kid!" She stood in front of me, her gaze instantly falling on my neck. "What happened to your neck, did you get into a fight, who strangled you?"

I chuckled nervously and shook my head. "It's nothing, Ms. Charlie,"

She gawked at me suspiciously. "If you say so. Wait here!" She instructed and went into her apartment and returned with an unopened box of pizza and three soda cans. "Take that, you seem hungry," She shoved the items to my chest and went back into the house, shutting the door before I could protest.

I smiled. "Thank you, Ms. Charlie!" I bowed thankfully at the door and rushed back to my room, pressing my back on the door and beaming happily.

Luckily I wouldn't be sleeping on an empty stomach again.

"Wow, you look so happy,"

I froze at the unfamiliar voice and lifted my gaze and nearly felt my soul leave my body and the items fell from my hold as I gawked at the glowing boy on my bed, grinning at me, and waving.

"Hi!"

  • INTERNAL SIN   Internal Sin:100

{KAI’S POINT OF VIEW}It was a Friday, so I left work early, picked Rai up from school, and we went to the restaurant. Once I parked the car, Rai and I stepped out. We were on our way out the door when my wrist was suddenly grabbed, and I turned sharply to see Ralph covered in a hoodie and glasses over his eyes.I beamed, “Ralph."He removed his glasses and looked down at Rai, who was looking at him with interest. “Who is this?”“This is Rai, my son.”His eyes met mine too quickly as if he had been struck by lightning. The expression nearly tugged out a laugh from me but I held it back. “You are married?” he blurted out.I shrugged. "Well, I have gone through two lifetimes without you; who knows how I will fare in this one?" Two could play the game, and he fell for it as his eyes darkened and he yanked me close to his face by the arm. He knew how I felt; he duped me into thinking he did not know who I was.“You are getting a divorce," he grumbled."Not in the presence of the child, Ra

[KAI’S POINT OF VIEW]Two lifetimes, three lifetimes worth of memories—they felt like a weight was placed on my shoulders—ones that were occasionally too much for me to bear.I recalled every lifetime I'd lived and every second I'd lived without having a clue where to find Ralph. Every time I failed, it felt like a needle was being pressed into my heart. This was my third life and I was 25. In this life, I worked as an architect for a decent wage, owned a restaurant with Rhory and Keir, and lived in an apartment in the middle of the city. Keir and Rhory were fortunate to have reunited as soulmates. They probably kept my memories to make me realize how much I was losing and probably laughed at my face as I failed to find Ralph in the lifetimes I'd lived. I sighed, slammed my pen on the table, and stopped trying to figure out a building pattern. "Dad." I raised my head in response to the tiny voice and discovered a tiny head with silver locks poking through the door. In an instant,

{CAMERON’S POINT OF VIEW}When Rhys entered the studio, I fell into a daze. I could barely say a word as he assisted me in locking up the studio, escorted me to his car, and drove us to his penthouse. When we were in a close space and alone, I threw my arms around him tightly and cried on his shoulder. I did not want to let go, and then his arms softly wrapped around my hips and drew me closer to his body.I had no idea how long we had stood here before he began to withdraw and clutch my face. His golden eyes were fixed on my face, and his thumb stroked it lovingly. "What do you remember?" He grilled."Everything," I replied unequivocally. "And I'm sorry. You lost everything because of me." Just when I thought I was done crying, more streamed down my cheeks as my mind was flooded with new memories. Was this the reason, despite growing up in a loving home and being surrounded by people who loved me, that I had always felt empty and alone? I had never felt whole, and I could not quite p

  • INTERNAL SIN   Internal Sin: 097

[CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW]Many, many years ago, there was a world where everyone had a soulmate; some were fortunate to have been paired with the right one, while others were unlucky.According to what I have read, it was not always like that. Everyone was happy with who they were paired with until there was some sort of imbalance in the system and things got out of hand, and people started getting paired with people they were not compatible with. Soulmates abused and killed each other, but not anymore. Soulmates were becoming increasingly rare in the world I grew up in, and nowadays anyone could be with whoever they wanted without having to wait and look for their soulmates. When soulmates realize they love someone else, they usually break their bond.Well, my name was Cameron, a small-time painter with my studio in the bustling big city, and I did not believe in soulmates.Having a soulmate was not necessarily a bad thing; it would be nice to fee

[RAI'S POINT OF VIEW]As golden guardians, it was our responsibility to protect humans and ensure that they were happy with their soulmates, regardless of their background. It was a crime for a golden guardian to look away from his assigned human, and most importantly, we did not fall in love. It was an internal sin that resulted in an internal penalty. I recall the moment I realized Kai was in love with a demon. It was when he stopped wearing that cold face that the hardness in his eyes seemed to fade. He was more carefree and careless, and he was willing to give up his title just to be with that demon. I was happy as long as he was happy, but only if that demon shared his feelings.Kai wept before having his wings torn off and receiving his punishment, I recalled. Although it was inhumane to watch him suffer from the blast of thunder every hour, it was the penalty for an internal transgression. It took Kai a century to finally be born as a soulless human. As his best friend, I tri
