CHAPTER 3

"You wanted to see me?" Samantha asked.

"Yes, Sam please sit." Karl said.

And Samantha took a seat opposite him.

"What's wrong uncle?" She asked.

"Did you have a run in with some fellow yesterday on your way home?" Karl decided to ask about that first.

"Yes but..."

"Did you slap him?" Karl asked.

"Yes I did , but... Uncle why does all of that matter?" Samantha asked.

She also wondered how he knew about it

"Samantha do you know how much shit you're in?" Karl asked.

"What are you talking about uncle?"

"Do you know he is?" Karl asked.

"No I don't, and I don't care." Samantha replied.

"Samantha I don't think you understand what I mean. He wants you to stop working here." Karl said.

"What?"

"Why would he say that who is he?" Samantha asked.

"Alexander McCallion." Karl answered and Samantha widened her eyes in shock.

"Exactly I knew you didn't know who he was before you slapped him." Karl sighed.

"Uncle I wanted to keep my cool but he insulted me saying he wanted to spend a night with me and..."

"Samantha, I know what kind of man he is. I'm going to have to tell you to stop working." Karl said.

"What? Uncle you're firing me?" Samantha asked.

"Yes, I am. I'm sorry Samantha but if I decide to protect you, my girls would lose their jobs and I would lose the club as well. I hope you understand dear?" Karl said.

"But uncle you know I need the cash now more than ever right?" Samantha asked and Karl felt more guilty.

"I know, but there's nothing I can do. You need to leave." Karl said and Samantha stood up.

She walked out of Karl's office and headed out the club. She ignored guys that kept flashing dirty looks her way.

She couldn't believe Karl fired her but then again that was her luck she walked out of the club a tear rolling down her eyes when a luxurious car pulled over in front of her.

Samantha immediately wiped the tears from her eyes.

And of course Alexander walked out of the car.

Seeing it was him Samantha wanted to take another route but his men blocked her path. Where they going to kidnap her?

"What do you want?" Samantha asked coldly. Even though deep down she was scared.

"Why aren't you working tonight?" Alexander asked like he didn't know he was the one behind it.

"Because a bastard like you went to threaten Karl." Samantha retorted.

"Pity." Alexander shrugged.

"What do you want from me Mr McCallion?" Samantha asked.

"I see you finally know who I am." Alexander said with a smile. And Samantha rolled her eyes.

"A night with you and I would solve all your problems." Alexander said.

"In your dreams. It's a good thing you brought your lap dogs this time, or I might have given you another bitter slap. Thanks for getting me fired by the way." Samantha said walking away.

Alexander was actually stunned she said all those things to him. But the more she declined his offer, the more he wanted her. He wasn't going to give up.

Samantha arrived home sad and dejected.

"Are you okay Sam?" Emma asked.

"Yeah."

"You know you can talk to me right?" Emma asked.

"Of course." Samantha smiled.

"It doesn't feel that way anymore." Emma said and Samantha sighed.

"Ever since mom and dad died you've been distant." Emma uttered.

Samantha wouldn't call it being distant she'd call it taking charge.

"Emma, I know you're a bit upset right now..."

"No, you've just been I don't know. You've been keeping to yourself lately. I might be fifteen but... I know we might lose the house that's the reason you took a job at uncle Karl's club." Emma said.

"You know you shouldn't go through files in my room. And you're still fourteen." Samantha said.

"See you're keeping things from me. And I'm turning fifteen soon." Emma retorted.

"Emma I don't want you to worry."

"I don't even know why you're doing all of this." Emma said.

"Because I made a promise to mom and dad to protect you. And that includes us not losing the house." Samantha said forcing a smile.

"Come on get some rest you have school tomorrow." Samantha added and Emma decided to go to her room.

Samantha went into her room and closed the door behind her. She ruffled her and groaned in frustration.

Now she has to look for a new job. But where was she going to get one? And what does Alexander mean by he could solve all her problems? Did he do a background check on her?

She took a shower and decided to get some rest. Tomorrow was another day.

The next morning Samantha woke up and was making breakfast for herself and Emma.

Emma walked down the stairs already dressed in her uniform.

"Good morning." Emma greeted.

"Morning Emma I hope you slept well?" Samantha asked.

"I did." Emma nodded.

"Come let's have breakfast so you can go to school." Samantha said and Emma nodded they both had breakfast in silence.

"I'm done." Emma said.

"Okay, let's get you to school." Samantha said getting up.

Emma was about to grab her backpack when she passed out.

Samantha changed her clothes and hurried back down the stairs only to find Emma lying on the floor.

"Emma! Emma!" She called out. She immediately called 911 her hands were shaking and Emma was hardly breathing.

Soon Emma was rushed to the hospital.

Samantha was really anxious she didn't want Emma to die she was all she had left.

"Are you her family?" The doctor asked.

"Yes, doctor I'm her sister how is she?" Samantha asked.

"She's fine for now but with her condition she needs immediate surgery." He replied.

"Condition? Surgery? What's wrong with her?" Samantha asked in one go.

"She has leukemia." The doctor replied and Samantha could feel her head spin.

Getting money for such a surgery wouldn't be easy and not in her current situation.

She had to tell Karl about it he might help.
