Kayla’s POV

I watched Zane’s face as a myriad of emotions passed through his eyes; disbelief, recognition, confusion… Now that he knew my biggest secret, I waited for him to make his mind regarding what he was going to do. Was he going to attack me now or would he just report to the council?

He had to find me just at the time I found a clue to track the one behind the attack on my pack. If only I could get a little time to at least avenge the deaths of my family like I had always wanted… Would Zane listen to me if I ask him to wait for a few days before he reports me to the council or would he be too disgusted by my identity to listen to anything from me? What will happen to my pack once my identity as the Feral Assassin becomes known? Will Ethan be allowed to be their Alpha or will some power hungry Alpha seize my pack? Questions flooded my mind, and only Zane’s actions could decide the answers

Kayla’s POVI sighed and hesitantly took a step towards Zane.“I will tell you everything. But not here,” I said.He looked at the corpses around us and nodded in agreement.“As much as I don’t mind seeing dead bodies, I don’t think this is a place fit to have a heart to heart either.”“Let’s go,” I said. Then, because I couldn’t resist it, I took a twig from the floor and dipped it in the blood of one of the rogues before drawing my symbol on a tree. Then I turned to Zane, who was watching me with raised brows.“I don’t know when I started leaving the symbol of justice after the kills. But now, it feels weird without doing it,” I said sheepishly. Then I realised how lame that sounded. As if leaving no symbol near my prey was anymore weirder than killing rogues and fixing a symbol for myself.Thankfully

Kayla’s POV“Let’s go to the Alpha office. It is soundproof,” Uncle Xavier said.I nodded at him in response before motioning Zane to follow us. I paused when Jared started to follow us, and I turned to Uncle Xavier with raised brows. Jared didn’t know my secret, and I wasn’t ready to disclose it to him yet, if ever. Hell, I wouldn’t even have ever revealed it to Zane if it was up to me. Uncle Xavier frowned at Jared before clearing his throat.“Where do you think you are going?”“My office?” Jared asked with a puzzled look.“Did I invite you? I asked Kayla and Zane to join me. Not you.”“Huh? But it is my office. I am the Alpha if you forgot.”“You maybe the Alpha, but I am still your dad. I am going to use your office to have a private discussion with Kayla and Zane. You are going to stay and take care

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER FIFTY SIX: MAKE OR BREAK US

Kayla’s POVI looked at Zane and took a deep breath before delving into my troubled past.“After Uncle Xavier recognised me as a Feral wolf, I was so rattled by the information that I was in a constant state of worry and distraction. I got pissed off for even the smallest of things and I convinced myself that I will go insane any day, leaving me unable to fulfil any of my missions in life,” I sighed. “Exactly one month after the rogues attacked my pack, I faced the challenges for my Alpha position. With my Feral strength, I easily handled the challenges, and that was when I decided that I needed to start searching for the rogue who had escaped the night of the rogue attack.”“I had heard of how there were fifty challengers for your position and how you fought ten of them and even killed one. I always thought it was just an exaggerated tale, but I guess not…” Zane muttered.

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER FIFTY SEVEN: MAYBE SOMEDAY...

Kayla’s POVI looked at Zane as he sat there with a blank expression on his face. His characteristic smirk was absent from his face, which meant he was thinking hard about something. As the moments passed and I got no reply from Zane, it was as if a heavyweight was placed on my chest, making it hard for me to breathe. I had pleaded to him to forget about me and stay away from the mess that was my life. I really didn’t want him to get involved with me when there was a high chance that I would go insane any day or get hunted down by the council. I didn’t want him to suffer because of me, and I should have been happy when he was deciding I wasn’t worth the trouble. I really should have been. But I wasn’t…I guess I was too selfish to let him go without feeling abandoned. I tried... I tried really hard to stay away from him. I told myself that we weren’t meant to be. Still, I ended up falling f

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER FIFTY EIGHT: DON’T HIDE AGAIN

Kayla’s POVZane leaned towards me and bit his lip in concentration, making my gaze lock onto his lips, which looked a little swollen from our kiss. Already I was thinking of pulling him back to me and kissing him again. Who knew kissing could be this addictive? I had always thought that kissing would be awkward and sloppy. How wrong I was! When Zane gently touched my face, sending tingles spread over my entire face, I was snapped out of my not so innocent thoughts. As he wiped off the tears from my face, I started unblinkingly into his eyes, which were filled with so much tenderness that I felt like crying again. What was wrong with me? Why was I feeling like crying at the simplest of things? I had bottled up my emotions for so long and now that they were freed from their cage, was I going to be a teary, snotty mess all the time? The thought was enough to sober me up as I cringed at imagining me crying at the drop of a hat. N

Kayla’s POV“So, do you think you are ready to face your Uncle Xavier yet or do you need more time?”I looked at Zane, whose eyes were twinkling with mirth as he saw my nervousness. I narrowed my eyes at him in response. Didn’t he just claim to love me? Then how would he enjoy seeing me in trouble?“I already told you, he didn’t see you kiss me. And even if he did, he will only be happy for you. Don’t you think he would like to see you enjoy a good life with your mate?”Well, I guess he was right about that. Even though Uncle Xavier himself was a serious man with no nonsense attitude, he has always said it was different. He would always complain that it was his actual nature, whereas mine wasn’t because he remembered me as a cheerful girl until my family’s death. I had always disregarded his concerns and claimed that my life experiences had shaped me to become

Kayla’s POV“So, what are you going to tell the council now?” I asked, after making sure that the soundproof partition between the driver’s seat and the passenger seat was pulled up.Zane looked at me with a calm expression and I wondered how he could be calm about something like this.“What is there to tell?”My jaw fell open in disbelief, and I stared at him with wide eyes. What is there to tell? The Council ordered him to hunt me and he was asking, ‘what is there to tell’?Seeing my shocked gaze, Zane rolled his eyes.“It is not as if they are going to find anything about you when they haven’t been able to do that all these years. Especially considering you wouldn’t be out hunting anymore now that you had found the rogue you were searching for. I don’t think they would ever find the bodies of the rogues in the Dark Ench

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER SIXTY ONE: MAKING PLANS

Zane’s POVI smirked at Kayla, as I thought of the impending hunt for the dark mage Gregory. I was supposed to hunt for the Feral Assassin, but now; I was hunting along with her. Who would have thought, right?Kayla smiled back and her blue-grey eyes glowed for a moment with a predatory glint. I knew it was the Feral wolf in her that was getting excited at the prospect of hunting the enemy, but it didn’t make me nervous like I ought to be if it had been anyone else but Kayla. Instead, seeing her like that thrilled me and made me even more excited at the thought of hunting along with her. Even imagining it got my heart racing, and I wondered when we could set off to the Dark Enchanted Forest. Then I saw her eyes move to the door through which Ethan had gone moments ago, and the excitement dimmed from her eyes to be replaced by worry and guilt. I sighed, knowing how she was worried about him and felt a weird mix of

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   EPILOGUE

Three weeks later…Kayla’s POVAfter I killed Stephen, we searched the mansion and found the papers of his research. We destroyed everything to make sure that no one would ever get the idea to create a race of wolves with magic ever again. Once that was done, we covered our tracks and ensured we left nothing that led to us. Done with our work, we left the place since the spell that blocked us from escaping had already gone down by then. The next day, I announced our relationship to my pack since I had no more reservations about it. The man had literally faced death for me several times, and I loved him as much as I could ever do anyone. There was nothing that stopped me from accepting our relationship wholeheartedly. The pack received the news with far more enthusiasm than I had expected. Even Ethan appeared to be genuinely happy at the way I accepted Zane, and I decided that it was time to let g

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER EIGHTY SEVEN: LET’S GO HOME

Kayla’s POV I stalked towards Stephen, and he stood there looking at me with wide eyes. He was no longer sporting the smug expression from before, and he didn’t look interested in my wolf anymore either. “Kayla darling…” he called out in a coaxing tone that one would use to soothe an aggressive dog. I let out a loud growl at him and he flinched and took a few steps back. “I am your uncle, remember? I am the only one left in the world for you. You don’t want to harm me, right? You don’t want to be alone in this world, right?” The red in my vision darkened at his stupid words, and I snarled in response. ‘And whose fault is it that I have no one else left? Weren’t you the one who killed my entire family, you bastard!’ I mind linked him and his eyes widened in response. That’s right. He never left the pack officially, and hence he was still a member of my pack. And I am still his Alpha…

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER EIGHTY FIVE: TIME FOR JUSTICE

Kayla’s POVI looked horrified as the men laughed and approached Zane. I tried to hit my hand against the golden cage I was imprisoned in. But just like the last time, I was thrown off by the electric sparks from it. My hand sizzled for a moment before the burn healed. Well, it means the burns would heal at least. If I could just tolerate the pain, maybe I could break the cage? With renewed vigor, I took a few steps backwards, stopping right before my back hit the edge of the magical cage. Then I gritted my teeth, ready to endure the pain, and leaped towards the cage and kicked it. But all my efforts were for nothing. Even though I forced myself to endure the pain, it didn’t help like I had hoped. Instead of passing through the cage with some burns, it just repelled and threw me from it. I fell on the floor and panted hard, not even feeling the burns in my feet. My heart was suffering more pain than my body. If I couldn&

Kayla’s POVStephen looked startled at my sudden confidence, but then he smiled at me condescendingly.“My dear niece, I hope you have no illusions that you could fight against all of us? Being a girl and a measly wolf at that, you wouldn’t have stood a chance even if they were ordinary wolves. But with their magic, you have lost before you even start.”I didn’t bother to respond to him before looking over at the men next to him. With narrow eyes, I speculated about their strengths and anticipated their moves. I couldn’t ignore any details without knowing what would help me in dealing with them.“Aww, the little girl really is thinking of fighting us!” one man teased me.I walked backwards, and their eyes twinkled merrily, thinking I was going to run away. But they frowned in confusion when they saw that I just stood behind Zane.“Oh, the p

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE: THE PERFECT SOLDIERS

Kayla's POV I looked at Zane with wide eyes and slowly turned to see Stephen standing there with a wide smile. He looked just as I remembered. As if he hadn't aged a day since the time I saw him five years ago. Come to think of it, he looked even younger than how he looked then. Either the life was really good for him or he had a few tricks up his sleeves to keep aging at bay. Given the crazy hunger for power he possessed, he couldn't have had a peaceful life that prevented him from sporting grey hair. And from the magic raging around us, he was definitely dabbling with wizardry and I had a feeling that it was also responsible for his youthful looks. I looked at him with a blank expression pasted on my face and even though his face looked exactly the same as when I had seen him when he was younger, he felt different somehow. Then I realiz

Kayla’s POVAs Raymond got busy with shouting instructions to his loyal followers, I slowly slipped away from him and walked over to Zane, who was standing there with a sour look.“Relax. You know I don’t care for his attention, right?” I whispered.“As if you cared about that when you saw Maggie flirting with me.”I flinched at the reminder of the witch and bit my lips when I realised that he wasn’t clueless about her pining like I thought he was. I had to give Kudos to his act, though. Even I was fooled into thinking that he didn’t notice her efforts.I looked up to see Zane’s nostrils flaring, and then he narrowed his eyes.“Just as I thought.”Huh?Zane looked at me with a smirk.“Guess who is reeking of Stephen’s scent?”My eyes widened in the realisation that Zane got Stephen’s

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER EIGHTY ONE: THE HERO OF THE PARTY

Kayla’s POVI stared at the skinny guy who stood staring at the unconscious man with a proud expression. He dusted his hands off before looking around the hall as if waiting for anyone else to challenge him. People looked at him and then the brawny guy on the ground before scampering off while a few lingered around, praising his strength.I watched as the bigger man who was still unconscious was dragged away from the hall by his peers. For a werewolf to become unconscious and to stay so for this long, how much force should have been used on him? That too by a guy who looked as if he couldn’t even stand straight on his own.It smelled really fishy, and I just knew it in my heart that this was all linked to Stephen. I didn’t have any evidence that said so, but my instincts were screaming at me that this has Stephen written all over it and my instincts had never let me astray so far.As the g

  • I reject you, Mr. Alpha   CHAPTER EIGHTY: DANCING AND SPYING...

Kayla’s POVWhen I thought of going to hunt Stephen, what I pictured in my mind was both of us getting dressed in badass spy costumes and searching for him stealthily until Zane gets his scent trail. And I thought it wouldn’t be much of a hassle since we were fairly certain that he was still somewhere in the state and we only needed to stop by in each of the towns before he could come across the vile man’s scent. We wolves could sniff out our prey for miles, and with Zane’s superior tracking skills, he could track the scents even farther than regular wolves.I had mapped it all in my head, and that’s why I was surprised when Zane declared his brand new plan that had nothing to do with what I had in mind.Zane had vetoed my grand plans by telling that it would look suspicious if we go to every town and sniff around for Stephen. He may get wind that we were searching for him, and we would nev

Kayla’s POVOnce Zane informed me that he got Stephen’s scent, I thought that we would start hunting him right away. But he insisted he needed to get some things done before commencing the tracking. My excitement took a nosedive at his declaration, but I decided I could use the time to check the snake’s diary. We locked the cottage, and I ignored Zane’s ill concealed laughter as I buried the key back in the plant pot. What is wrong with having a hiding place for a key?!When we reached the hotel room, I made a beeline for the couch and sat with the diary in my arms. I wanted to know what all nasty secrets it carried.Zane looked at me with amusement shining in his eyes, but seeing my determined expression, he left me to it before going to the balcony with his mobile.I opened the diary and noted that it was from the year of the rogue attack. For him to lock it in a hidden compartmen
