4. ELENA ON THE SECOND FLOOR?

Tommy Vester wasn't young anymore, but he was still single. Several reasons caused him not to have a partner even though most of his friends already had wives and even children.

The first reason was that it could be said that his look was below average. He had curly hair like his mother, and his face was wide like his father's. Nowadays, girls preferred guys with straight hair and small faces, so of course, he was not the girls' favorite.

The second reason for his pitiful state was his vicious personality. Even when he was lucky enough to find a girlfriend for himself, he would still waste his money sleeping with some prostitutes, and that was why no girl wanted to stay with him for a long time, let alone agree to marry him.

Even his mother often scolded him for it, but why should he listen to her when he knew that his mother was no better than him? His mother's lectures always went into his left ear before exiting his right, but there were no words that stayed in his head to make him realize his mistake.

Just like tonight when he was supposed to find his little sister, he ended up in "Ladder to Paradise," and the reason behind that was he couldn't hold back his desires.

A security guard greeted him at the entrance, and Tommy arrogantly stepped into the building without returning the greeting. He had heard of "Ladder to Paradise" before, but since it was out of town, he had never been there. Now that he was here, of course, he would not let go of the opportunity to taste some of the girls in that place. Were they really good?

It was a two-story building, and it was quite large. After entering through the entrance, Tommy stopped at a large room that resembled a hall where there were several sofas there. Maybe it was something like a waiting room where the guests could wait for their turn to enter the room with the prostitute they chose, and Tommy did get to see some of the men in the room.

He could also see several girls walking from the first floor to the second floor. There was a staircase that would take them to the second floor, and Tommy looked up surreptitiously to see what the second floor looked like.

From the first floor, he could see that the second floor had more rooms than the first, and he knew what kind of rooms they were. Of course, they were rooms where the prostitutes could serve their customers.

Suddenly, Tommy smirked as he thought that he would have a steamy night tonight, but then his eyes caught a figure that caused his body to freeze in place.

"That... that's Elena, right?" His eyes remained fixed on the second floor, and he was pretty sure that the girl who had just walked over the railings looked a lot like his younger sister who had been causing trouble for his family recently.

Even if he didn't have a good relationship with his younger sister because of their different personalities, he had watched his sister grow up all these years ago, and that was why he was pretty sure that the girl wearing the black mini dress was none other than Elena even if she appeared with short hair tonight.

Did his sister just cut her hair? Tommy didn't want to think about the trivial thing, and without thinking, he immediately brought his feet towards the stairs, only to be stopped by another girl who suddenly blocked his steps right in front of him.

Tommy was forced to stop his movements, and he frowned at the girl. "Why are you stopping me? I want to go upstairs, so you better step aside!" Annoyed, Tommy scolded the girl.

Judging from her appearance, it seemed that she was also a prostitute in that place. After all, her clothes were too revealing that she almost made him hard.

"Sorry, Master. You can only go upstairs after you've booked a girl and paid for her services. I've been watching you, and I'm pretty sure you've never met our boss to pay, and that's why I can't let you go upstairs."

Tommy had also heard how the prostitutes in that place used to greet their guests with the word "Master," and that almost made him hard too.

However, he knew that he still had other urgent matters he needed to attend to, and that was why he nervously glanced at the second floor before he turned to the girl in front of him again. "Where is your boss? I will book a girl and pay for her tonight, so please show me the way to meet your boss," grinding his teeth, he spoke to the girl.

The girl thought they would have another customer tonight, which was why she quickly nodded before leading the man to another room on the first floor. They then stopped in front of a door with "Boss" emblazoned on it, and the girl raised her hand to knock on it. A voice asked them to enter, but the girl only opened the door for the man before gesturing to enter.

Tommy was impatient, and that was why he rushed into the room before noticing how the girl closed the door once again. Right now, he was in the boss's room, and he could see a fierce-looking woman sitting behind a desk with a cigarette in her right hand.

"Ah, it's a new face," said the boss as she put her cigarette in the ashtray. "Please have a seat. I will let you know which girls are available to book tonight."

Even if the woman knew that it was a customer who had just entered the room, her voice sounded impolite, but Tommy didn't care about it. Instead, he decided to get straight to the point by saying, "I want to book a girl named Elena tonight. Just tell me the price, and I'll pay for it no matter how expensive it is."

"Elena?" The boss parroted upon hearing Tommy's question, and for a few seconds, her ferocious gaze was replaced by a puzzled look as she continued, “We have quite a few girls here, but I recognize all of them, and I'm pretty sure we don't have anyone by that name right here.” That was a negative answer he received from the woman, and Tommy nearly spat in the room when he heard it. "You're trying to hide her on purpose, aren't you?" He returned arrogantly. “You can be sure that you recognize all the girls who work for you, but I can also be sure that I recognize my own sister. I saw her upstairs before I came to this room, and maybe you're just trying to help her cover up her identity, right? After all, she tried to run away from home, and maybe you have been helping her, right? I can call the police and report you for kidnapping my sister!” Even if the boss looked confident in her answer, Tommy wasn't to be outdone either, and that was why he replied to the woman's words while poin

Vivian had just finished her work tonight, and she sat up on the bed with no cloth covering her fair skin. Yes, everything was exposed to the cold in the room, but it seemed she was used to that kind of atmosphere. Her entire body was covered with kiss and bite marks, and that was why only a few parts of her body remained white because of the existence of the red marks. It looked like she felt pain down there, which was why she hissed slightly as she bent down to pick up her black bra from the floor. Even her big boobs bounced at the sudden movement, but she didn't pay attention to it as she was about to put on her bra. A man was standing by the bed, and he was wearing his shirt and jacket now. He smoothed his clothes which were indeed slightly creased from their intense activity just now, but he still couldn't completely get rid of the wrinkles in the end. He frowned, but he only let out a heavy sigh before finally taking out his wallet from the back pocket of his black pants. Fr

The one thing she liked about this place except for the fact that it gave her money was that she only had to serve one man each night. That rule had been in effect since she joined the place two years ago, and until now, she was still grateful for it.She only had to attend to one man each night, but that didn't mean she only had to work an hour or two. No, the boss from Ladder to Paradise somehow thought that men weren't usually satisfied with just one or two rounds, and that was why the prostitutes there had to serve one man for three to four hours every night.Of course, the man who booked her or the other prostitutes in that place would need to pay a large amount of money for the service, and that was why only rich men would dare to come to that place.By now, it was one in the morning, and Vivian just wanted to get home before she went to the hospital to see her mother. It was already past midnight, and it meant she would be late for her mother's birthday, but her mother always u

["Someone came to me a few hours ago and said he was your brother." That was the explanation she received from Rose after she was dumbfounded by the woman's sudden question when she was about to leave the office. She looked confused, but she managed to answer, “I'm the only child in my family, boss. I don't have any brothers or sisters.” It was the most honest answer she could give the woman sitting behind the desk. In her family, she only lived with her mother because her father died a long time ago due to illness. Even her mother was now hospitalized, and she sure didn't have any siblings at home. "But that guy looks pretty sure he's your brother," Rose replied. “He even insisted that you use an alias now, and he also said that your real name is Elena. More than that, he also foolishly said that I had kidnapped you and said that he would report me to the police because of that.” Vivian was even more confused after hearing her boss's next explanation. Money? That was, of course, Vivian's priority for now.Two years ago, her mother was diagnosed with brain cancer, and even though the cancer was still stage 3 at the time, they needed a lot of money to start treatment. It was a bit late to find out the disease, and the doctors said that at that stage, the brain tumor was already malignant and progressing faster than stages 1 and 2.The doctors also said that stage 3 brain cancer could actively produce abnormal cells that could spread to other areas of the brain, and that was why Vivian decided to give up her dream to continue her study and start working to earn more money for her mother's treatment. At that time, she was actually a freshman at a university, but she decided to drop out and start working in Ladder to Paradise without her mother's awareness. Yes, her mother only knew that she worked for money, but she didn't tell the woman where she worked. For more than a year, any money Vivian earned would end up in the hospital for he

She arrived at the hospital at 2 am. Normally, visitors weren't allowed into the hospital at that time, but Vivian's case was different because she knew a lot of people in the hospital. Since her mother received treatment at the hospital two years ago, she had managed to establish good relations with the doctors, nurses, and even security guards. Thus, she gained access to the hospital even though it was almost dawn now. The security guard knew that she only had time to visit her mother during that time. They didn't know what job she had, nor did they want to pry into her private matters. They only knew her as a good daughter who always made time to visit her mother even though it was late at night. Vivian laughed at herself as she imagined how those people thought she was a good daughter. In fact, she was far from good as she even lied to her mother about what job she had, but she also had no other choice but to lie to the woman. What kind of mother

Vivian only needed to work in Ladder to Paradise at night. If that was the case, why couldn't she visit her mother in the hospital during the day? The reason was, she had another job as a waiter in a cafe during the day. Was it because her salary from the brothel was too small for her? In truth, she was receiving at least $600 a night from the brothel, but she could only save up to $100 at most to prepare for her mother's surgery. The reason behind that was that her family was in huge debt since her father was still around. At that time, her father was sick, and the medical expenses were very expensive. In the end, they had no choice but to take a big loan, and until now, the debt had not been paid off. Apart from that, Vivian also had to pay for her mother's daily medical expenses and also the wards. And let's not forget about how she and her mother were only renting the house, and that was why they still had to pay rent. Coming with the rent were an electricity bill and a water b

The brothel had a locker room that the prostitutes could use to get ready before they spent the night with the customers in the Love Room. Yes, the room on the second floor was named "Love Room" by Rose. It was strange to talk about love in a place like this, and there was definitely no love between prostitutes and their customers even if they did all the intimate activities in that place. The name of the rooms was indeed lame, even the prostitutes cringed at the name, but they dared not voice their protest because it was indeed their boss who had the right to do anything in the place she owned. Before going to one of the Love Rooms upstairs, Vivian needed to prepare herself in the dressing room. She heard from her boss that her customer would be coming to Love Room number 13 in less than an hour, and that was why she was busy preparing herself now. Why did it have to be number 13? Even if Vivian wasn't the type to believe in lucky and unlucky numbers, she somehow had a bad feeling

A name. It was not just a group of letters used to address someone so they would turn to the caller and not ignore the caller. A name had a deeper meaning than that. A name was used to identify a person, used to distinguish someone from other individuals. A name would always stick with a person from the time they were born until the day they last breathed, and even at their final resting place, their name would also be written or engraved to let everyone know that the body buried underground belonged to the owner of the name. A name was indeed an important part of one's life, and that was why one would not feel happy if someone called them by the wrong name. Perhaps that was also the reason why Vivian had returned to wearing a wedding dress today. It was still the same wedding dress she wore months ago when she officially became Steen's wife, but because she was using someone else's name then, she and Steen decided to have another wedding ceremony to announce to everyone that it was

Their next stop was the penthouse at the Golden Roof Apartments, and it might also be their last stop. Only three people entered the penthouse after Elena was sent to her family's residence. After Lily and her family were arrested by the police, the house was empty, and that's why Elena lived there temporarily. Yes, only temporarily because Elena planned to move after finding a suitable place to live. Vivian had actually invited her to move in with her and Sarah in the small house, but Elena rejected the idea, saying that she didn't want to disturb the two of them and that Sarah might be uncomfortable if she joined them to live in the cramped house. Vivian said that Sarah wouldn't feel that way because that woman also wanted to meet Elena and wanted to live with her too, but Elena still resisted the idea. In the end, Vivian only said that she would try to find a bigger house, and if that could happen, the three of them might be able to move in together.

Someone was standing in the middle of the mansion's stairs. With teary eyes, he looked at the people standing in the living room one by one. His eyes were not only filled with tears, but the two of them were also filled with fear and confusion. He looked lost and lonely even if he wasn't alone in the big building. Maybe the adults in the living room kept talking about Stanley before, but they probably forgot that the kid was also in the mansion the whole time, and they also weren't aware of the possibility that the innocent boy had heard everything from the second floor. But maybe Steen was aware of the possibility, but he simply didn't care at all. That was why he looked away from the boy before saying, "Let's go." Both words were aimed at Vivian and Elena, like how he had suggested the three of them leave the mansion immediately. But neither Vivian nor Elena moved from their positions even after hearing the order, and they both focused their

Steen somehow could not directly answer his father's question this time. He was still grinding his teeth to suppress his anger, but no words could come out of his mouth at this moment. Recalling the disgusting memory, he remembered how he did not find any used condoms in the hotel room, and it was easy to tell that he had done it without any protection the night before. He wasn't even sure if it was because he couldn't think straight when he did it or maybe it was Kate's intention, but he was sure there weren't any used condoms in the hotel room at the time. He wasn't stupid, and that was why he could see the possibility of her being pregnant after they had a such activity that night, and it was also the reason why he hated that kid called Stanley so much. Even if he didn't try to find evidence that Stanley was indeed his son, he could see the similarities the boy had with him, and it had the power to terrify him. Because of that, he had alway

Kate had been dragged from the mansion by the police, and even the man named Peter had also been caught by the police. Hence, only four people were left in the living room after Marlon also left the place. There were only Steen, Stefan, Vivian, and Elena in the living room. Everyone still ignored the presence of plush sofas in the living room as they preferred to remain standing rather than sitting comfortably. They all even continued to stand like statues. Even Steen who previously looked the calmest of them, now looked shaken after hearing what Kate proudly said before being dragged away by the police. "I always knew that the child was not mine," Stefan muttered breaking the tense silence in the living room. “I always knew about it, but I didn't expect the child to be yours, Steen. Even her fear should be enough to tell that she was scared because she had done something to my mother in the past, but I know that such a thing wouldn't be enough to prove that she was indeed a criminal. That's why I focused on finding something on her phones that were ignored by her out of fear in the past week. On one of her cellphones, I found enough evidence to land her in jail.” When everyone was speechless, it was Steen who continued to speak. Turns out that was his real plan. He didn't plan to pressure Kate so she would kill herself just like his mother did years ago, but he just wanted her to ignore her cell phone so he would get a chance to touch it. Yesterday Kate left the mansion without her cell phone, and Steen took the opportunity to look for more evidence in the cell phone. Finally, he found what he was looking for in one of her cell phones.

Stefan also looked surprised after hearing what Peter had just said, but he still had time to ask the woman that question. At this moment, the woman no longer glared at the kneeling man, and instead, she stiffly shifted her gaze to Stefan. Stefan was her husband, and he was known for his strict and assertive personality. Many people were afraid of him, even Kate was afraid of him before they got married years ago. Steen had revealed everything. He had disclosed how Vivian and Elena were actually part of a family living far away from Haston City, but Elena was kidnapped by Lily and her husband two decades ago. At that time, the twins' parents died in a car accident, and little Vivian was found by a couple after the incident, and she was raised by the couple into adulthood. Steen deliberately did not mention how Sarah had purposely taken Vivian as her daughter instead of returning the child to her relatives, nor did he mention the name of the family Vivian and Elena came from. He didn't think that the information was necessary, and that's why he kept it a secret. And maybe Stefan really didn't need that information, and the story Steen had just uncovered had shocked the old man enough. His pair of eyes widened as he looked at the twins, but he still didn't say anything as he still couldn't overcome his shock. Steen could see how his father was stunned by

It was Marlon who had just entered the mansion, but this time he was not alone. His hand was holding another person's arm, and that person's hands were tied with a rope behind his back. After arriving at the living room, Marlon forced the person to kneel in front of the five people. One person looked confident after seeing the person's appearance in the living room, while three other people looked shocked and confused, then one person looked scared as her eyes widened when she saw the person who had just arrived in the living room with Marlon. "So, he's the person, Marlon?" It was Steen who looked confident upon seeing the person's arrival in the living room, and although his question was directed at Marlon, his eyes were glued to the figure kneeling in front of him. “Yes, sir,” Marlon immediately answered his boss's question. “His name is Peter Ford, and he works in a bar in town. He's the one who posted that anonymous article about you, sir.”
