The agreement.

Vanessa collected the contract marriage documents Xavier offered to her. And after reading through the documents’ terms and conditions, she immediately inserted her signature on the documents since the deal was pretty okay to her.

According to the marriage contract terms and conditions, Vanessa only has to pretend to be Xavier's wife for a year, plus, she also has to live in his mansion throughout the year, and after that, she'd be free and the marriage contract would become invalid.

“All done”. Vanessa announced and gave back the documents to Xavier who collected it from her.

After Xavier had collected the marriage contract documents from Vanessa, he reviewed it before a mischievous grin appeared on his lips.

“It’s a deal then. Prepare to move into my mansion next week. After that, you'll follow me to my family mansion. It's going to be my father's birthday”. Xavier declared after putting the documents in his suit.

‘Isn’t he going to ask me what I need help with?’. Vanessa thought and when she mustered up her courage to ask Xavier, she heard his deep husky voice speaking again.

“You can go back home, Vanessa. Don't forget to get popcorn tonight because tomorrow morning would be surprising to you”. After Xavier said this, he left Vanessa and went upstairs to his room.

“What does he mean?”. Vanessa muttered as she was greatly confused. She wanted to ask Xavier what he meant, but since he already left, she hesitated before she also left.

‘God please, I pray it's the money for my father's surgery that Xavier is going to send to me tomorrow morning. I pray that's what he means by the surprise to me’. Vanessa hopefully thought and when she made her way outside and got into her car, she finally realised that she didn't give her account details to Xavier!.

“What the heck is wrong with me? How am I going to receive the surprise when I didn't even give him my account details?!”. Vanessa quarrelled herself before a frown appeared on her face. Soon, Vanessa thought of returning back to Xavier's mansion, but later she changed her mind and decided to trust Xavier and wait until morning.

After making this tough decision, Vanessa drove off to her apartment.

Upon arriving inside her apartment, Vanessa went to her bedroom and as soon as she laid on her bed, she immediately fell asleep due to how sleepy and tired she already was.

Many hours passed and it was already morning time.

Vanessa woke up as early as she could and the first thing she checked was her cell phone to see if she received any money in her bank account. After carefully checking her messages and emails, Vanessa was extremely disappointed and tossed her cell phone aside.

“Wait a minute, did I sign those marriage contract agreements for nothing?”. Vanessa came down from her bed when she questioned herself. She wanted to ask herself more questions, but she got distracted by a sudden phone call.

Vanessa didn't bother to check the caller's Id and just answered the call after she picked up her cell phone, “What?”. Vanessa rudely asked the person.

“CEO Vanessa, you won't believe what happened to Diamond V company. Check the news!”.

“Wait, aren't you my ex-manager?”. Vanessa raised one of her eyebrows as she questioned the lady who spoke to her excitedly.

“Ex-manager? CEO Vanessa, go and watch the breaking news and you'll eventually understand why I'm excited”.

“Fine. I’ll go and watch the news”. Vanessa announced and immediately hung the call. “Is this a prank or something? This should better be good news that can help my father's surgery”. Vanessa murmured as she went to her living room and switched on her tv.

After changing the first channel to breaking news, Vanessa couldn't believe what her eyes were seeing and gasped in disbelief. “My- my company is saved and still mine?!”. Vanessa exclaimed and instantly, a drop of tears escaped from her eyes. “My life's hard work which is my company is saved!”. Vanessa repeated before she climbed her sofa and was jumping happily on it.

The time didn't take long and the cell phone in Vanessa's hand started vibrating uncontrollably because of the huge amount of messages it was receiving.

Vanessa quickly opened her phone and was surprised because of the great numbers of individuals that re-invested in her company. “Tsk…. Just look at these greedy people. When my company was facing huge trouble, they all backed out, but now that my company is back and stronger than ever, they even invested twice than previously”. Vanessa said out loud in a mocking tone before she later scoffed.

“But wait, how the heck was my company saved? Didn't it go bankrupt? Could this be….”. Vanessa covered her mouth in disbelief before she added, “This is Xavier's doing! This is the surprise he meant to show me! This is unbelievable. Just, what's the real identity of Xavier?”.

“Anyways, this is not the time to be surprised. I have to hurry up to the hospital and pay for Dad's surgery since I have the money now”. Vanessa declared to herself before she rushed into her bedroom to prepare.

When Vanessa entered her room, she walked straight to the bathroom and it took her only a few minutes to be done brushing and bathing.

Soon, Vanessa wore her favourite clothes, an ash sweatsuit. After this, she later came out from her apartment and shut the door before rushing to her car that was located down the building.

After Vanessa entered her car, she drove off instantly to the hospital.

The hospital,

Eric was pacing back and forth outside his father's ward when his eyes suddenly met Vanessa who was approaching.

“Big sis, you're finally here!”. Eric ran and confronted Vanessa after he said this.

Vanessa stared around her, and when she didn't see who she was looking for, she asked Eric, “Where's Mom and Derek?”.

“Oh, they're inside the ward with our father”. Eric simply replied before he asked Vanessa a question, “We- were you able to come up with the money for father's surgery?”.

“Eh? Why do you ask?”. Vanessa was surprised and asked.

“I didn't mean to be nosy, but I sort of inquired about our father's surgery bill. Damn, it was a lot, that was why I was worried and asked you”. Eric explained.

“Don't worry, I got everything covered, Eric”. Vanessa admitted before she added with a genuine smile, “My Diamond V company is back”.

“Thank goodness”. Eric simply stated before he realised what Vanessa had said and exclaimed, “Wait, what?! Your Diamond V company is back?!”.

Vanessa nodded at Eric and chuckled when she saw how he opened his mouth wide in disbelief.
