"Yes, you'll be okay. I'll be with you for the time being."

Millie nodded, feeling a little dazed.

Later on, Pierce's phone rang again. It was a call from the insurance company. Millie had left his car by the road, and the insurance company had sent someone to retrieve it.

After Pierce brought her home, Millie shut herself in her room. It was only then that she felt safe.
