Find Her! Tick...Tock

Logan’s P.O.V.

I forced myself to get on the stage and face the Crescent pack, ignoring the tempting smell that drove me crazy. Damien laid a hand on my arm, and I could feel his calmer energy washing over me. He had noticed the scent too, and how it had shaken me.

I shot him a grim smile, absorbing his serenity.

Damien had been my beta for years, so much so that he’d become the brother I never knew I needed. Like all Betas, he was calm and thoughtful, and I was a much better person when he was around me.

Slightly appalled at my passion for the scent, I sucked in a deep breath and turned to the crowd, speaking into the microphone.

"For decades, wolves have been slain from my pack and yours, our blood desecrating the territories." I begin. "We've lost great men, fathers, brothers, uncles, and sons all because of the greed of the former pack leaders."

A few nods of approval and choruses echoed in the halls.

"But as a new moon rises, the sorrows and darkness of the past are washed away!"

“Tonight marks the end of all the wars between the Crescent pack and my pack....”

Applause and hoots filled the air, but I ignored them, throwing the microphone on the floor.

All eyes were on me as I concluded my words and climbed down from the podium.

As I tracked Jake down, Damien followed me closely, with Mousy Girl behind him. I needed to know who gave off the pheromones that were so aggressive it made me lose my grip on my senses.

My wolf was restless, and I had an unshakeable hunch that the scent was my mate’s. Why else would it affect me so damn much?

I spotted him at the edge of the hall, kissing his Luna like there was no tomorrow.

Biting back the revulsion in my guts, I coughed, and they jumped apart, their shame filling the air.

“Thank you so much for your attendance and agreement to the treaty.” Jake reached out his hands to me, and I snubbed it, keeping my face blank.

“I want you to gather all Omegas in your pack right now.” My voice left no room for argument as I used my Alpha dominance on his weak and younger wolf.

His mind writhed against my dominance, his wolf fighting to assert its place as Alpha. A sneer twisted my lips as I felt his resistance fading before his wolf whimpered and finally caved.

“Why?” he muttered, his voice almost wobbly.

Damien cut it, flashing him a friendly grin. "My Alpha's curious about how many Omegas you've got in your pack. We could use some more of them around here. Our pack members are mostly Alphas, you see."

Bowing slightly, he nodded. “Of course, Alpha Logan. It’s the least I can do to signify the start of our friendship.”

Curtly nodding at Damien, I watched Jake clear out the hall and line up the omegas neatly.

Soon, all the Omegas were in place, and Jake stepped aside with his Luna, leaving me in charge.

I briefly glanced at his Luna and scowled. If anything, she was plain with a long hooked nose. Her red hair was too bright, and her frame was rather manly in her ugly green dress. However, she stood out from the other she-wolves, who mostly had black or blonde hair.

Shaking off the thoughts, I focused on the task and walked to the back of the line.

I almost choked on my breath at the pheromone oozing off the first omega at the back. It was horrid, disgusting and clearly marked her status as a lowly servant.

A scent on the second row stopped me, and I slowly approached the auburn-haired girl. She was a pretty little thing, and her pheromone was eerily similar to the scent driving me out of my mind. I pressed my nose to her hair, sucked in her scent, and finally found what set her apart. Vanilla and cauliflower, fear.

No. It’s not her. Ripe peaches. Sultry. Sad.

By the time I made my way through the lines of omegas, the wine I drank earlier was brimming in my lungs, threatening to erupt from my lips.

My stomach churned as nausea swept through me, and I could feel my wolf amassing dark and negative energy in my psyche.

What the fuck is going on? Where did that scent go? I suddenly felt cheated, and outrage lanced through me.

Storming over to where Jake stood, I growled, wrapping a hand around his throat, squeezing tight enough to cut his airflow.

“Where is she?” I roared, and I could feel the ground quaking beneath my feet.

Damien’s voice reached my ear, and I distantly heard him begging me to calm down and not kill the new Alpha of the Crescent pack and start the war again.

Gritting my teeth, I finally released his neck, and he dropped to the floor, clutching his throat. Such a fucking pathetic excuse for an Alpha. He clearly had no military training at all. Alpha Tate must have spoilt his little brat. Fucking sad; he was leaving his pack to the mercy of his weakling of a son.

I swallowed the anger boiling in my lungs, shrugging off Damien’s hands as I glared at the warriors of the Crescent pack who had me surrounded.

Damien could sense that the situation was getting out of hand, so he mind-linked me. “Alpha, please let me handle this.”

“Fine.” I bit back, pressing my shirt sleeves to my nose to block out the awful scents.

Facing Jake, who was red in the face, Damien asked patiently. “Are all the female omegas here?”

I narrowed my eyes at his hesitation before he muttered. “Yes.”

He was lying. Just as I moved towards him, his Luna quickly spoke up, looking me in the eyes. “There’s one more Omega left. Her name is Aimee, and I think I saw her leave earlier.”

The bitter and heated look in Jake’s eyes told me he was never going to tell me.

“That's it! I want her here. Now!” I snapped, ignoring their pathetic attempt to fool me. “You have just an hour. Tick Tock.”
