Antonio's Mansion...
About an hour after the encounter at the airport...
Antonio sat in his study trying to work but found it hard to concentrate. The incident from earlier, at the airport, just wouldn't give him a break in his thoughts. He constantly staggered upon the memory, still so stunned that someone had the audacity to disrespect him like that. He didn't really care whether people saw or not. He just couldn't allow Lily off the hook without teaching her a resounding lesson. He opened up a drawer in his desk to take out her purse and took a look at her ID card.
"Liliana Andrea Cabrera," he read out her name. "She's also of Latin descent." He was scanning the remaining content when he was suddenly interrupted by a knock at the door.
Antonio picked up a little remote on his desk and pressed a button, opening the door. It was a woman in a red blazer with a fitting short skirt. She wore a white blouse with a very low neckline underneath the blazer, exposing much of her cleavage. Her hair was in a very neat bun with lose strands at both sides of her face. She wore cat eye glasses and heavy make-up. She was pretty but looked somewhat artificial. She came into his study holding a folder.
"Hello Mr. Antonio Robl..."
"What do you want?" He said, barely sparing her a glance. She was indeed very disappointed. She had hoped that he would be moved by her captivating appearance and the intensely practised sweet tone in her voice. All the effort put into impressing him had been nothing but a waste.
"I-I br-brought this folder for you. It contains some documents you are required to sign...."
"I thought I said all such documents should be given to Lauren to bring to me. Last I checked, you weren't my personal assistant. As a matter of fact, I don't even know who you are," he said coldly with a lifted brow as he relaxed in his seat.
"I'm Natalie Hoffman, the new assistant to the production manager at the coffee factory..."
"Well Natalie Hoffman, please stop wasting both are times and get straight to the point. Why are you here? Why didn't you listen to the instructions I gave?" Antonio, shut his eyes, absolutely relaxed in his seat, looking ready to sleep.
Natalie took a deep breath to calm her rapidly pounding heart. "I just wanted to personally thank you for the job you..."
"I didn't hire you. You know who did so waste no more of my time. Is that all?" His eyes were still shut and he sounded reluctant to speak at all.
Natalie, thinking he was so exhausted and hoping that would favour her, walked over to his seat, as quietly as she could in her pencil heels. Antonio could sense her approaching as the sent of her perfume increased alongside the sound of the clicks of her heels.
The moment she lifted her hands in the attempt to massage his shoulders, he grabbed one of her hands, holding it so tight that it looked like it would snap soon.
Her heart started to beat even faster at the thought that he could harm her. "I-I j-just wanted to help y-you because you seem e-exhaus..."
"Your voice is really irritating." He pinched the bridge between his eyes and yanked her away, still with his eyes shut and brows squinted. "How can a good-for-nothing like you," he said with a chuckle,"think, even for a second, that she could seduce me with that plastic body of yours? Did you really think I'd fall for it?"
"N-No, sir, I..." she stuttered, trying to claim that wasn't her intention.
"Good. Since that's clear, get the hell out of my house," he said, finally opening his eyes to glare at her.
She immediately started her way out, thankful for the fact that he at least only asked her to leave his home. 'Well, at least, no one is here to witness this embarrassing moment and I get to keep my job. This wasn't so bad after a...' she was thinking when he interrupted her thoughts.
"And by the way, I hoped you knew what this meant but from the relaxed expression on your face, you clearly don't so let me spell it out for you. You're fired," he said with ease. "You may leave now." He pressed the button on the little remote to open the door for her.
Just when she was about to start begging, a hand held her arm from behind. "What the heck do you think you're doing here?!" The lady was in a black blazer with the sleeves rolled up to three-quarters and a white shirt underneath. She wore a pair of black fitting pants and short boot heels. Her long straight hair was blonde and held in a neat ponytail. Her beautiful green eyes were intensely glaring at Natalie, piercing her now broken soul. That was Lauren, Antonio's right hand woman.
"Lauren's upset. I suggest you get going if you want to leave here as you came," Antonio said nonchalantly.
'He's not bluffing. He never does. That, I know. Besides, they say she's a mini version of him. It's over for me. I better leave now,' she thought and nodded obediently to Antonio. Lauren let her go.
'Damn, she's intense!' Antonio thought looking proudly at his masterpiece, his personal assistant, Lauren Patterson.
"Sorry about that sir. I didn't ask her to..."
"It's fine Lauren. I know you wouldn't," he said with a smirk, staring at his now timid assistant. She suddenly seemed to resemble an innocent intimidated girl. Having worked for Antonio for five solid years didn't seem to make her immune to the fear of messing up around him. She was extremely tough when her job required her to be but simple and calm when with him.
"Do you have what I asked for?" He asked. She nodded gently and handed him a brown thick envelope containing documents.
"Yes sir. You were right which means... he's as good as dead."
"Marcus Elton is indeed the traitor, just as you suspected. Private Detective Donovan acquired these pictures of him meeting up with your ex, Rachael. As seen in the photos, he's handing over a folder which is similar looking and certainly the same as the missing folder containing the Advertising department's fake ideas for the festive season. However, we cannot pin down any particular company Rachael is working with because the ideas seem to have been distributed among three different companies," Lauren said as he went through the pictures. "What would you like to do about it now Boss?""Well done. Now we have almost everything we need. I informed the detective earlier today of another task he needs to complete in order for us to completely pin him down.""What are you talking about Boss?" Lauren asked surprised that there was more to do on this case."Don't worry about that. He can handle it. About the guy Marcus pinned the theft on and fired, I hope you've already paid him his sala
★★★Lily's apartment..."WHAT THE..." Lily boomed, burning with fury. "This person knows who I am yet posted my purse with its content on MY website...TO SELL?!"She stared blankly at the screen for a while, thinking of who it could be. She thought of Antonio but doubted he'd have any time to play games like this. It had been posted about an hour ago. 'Maybe someone else found it and wanted to play with me. Maybe it's a fan?' she desperately hoped.Suddenly, a message was posted in the comment section of that post. 'I will buy it.' Lily panicked. "What if the person sells it?" She immediately picked up her phone and placed a call to the seller's contact provided under the post."Who are you?" Lily asked the moment the call was answered."For someone who gave a lecture about Mr Manners, you seem to be slacking," Antonio responded nonchalantly."Oh God! What wrong have I done to deserve this? Of all the people who could have ended up with my purse, why did it have to be him?" she said o
Meanwhile...Bronx Estate...The Perkins residence..."But I don't understand...""Mum calm down. We have to respect her decision. When she's ready, she'll surely come around," Lana assured her mother, Veronica, as they unpacked her stuff."Tell me what really happened the last time she was here. What really happened with her mum?" Veronica insisted on knowing. She really loved Andrea like she was her very own daughter. She and her husband adopted her at age 12 and has ever since, lived under their protection and in the comfort of their arms. Never did they make Andrea feel like a stranger, at least on purpose. However, it wasn't easy getting her to open up or feel at ease. She was always scared to walk outside at all. At day, she feared meeting her mother and at night, she feared robbers and other bad people.11 years ago...One night, Lana's dad, Martin Perkins, decided to take a walk with his two children, Lana, 13 years of age, and Jake, 6 years. On their way, they saw a woman scr
Two days had gone by but Andrea still refused to say anything about her home. After countless times of trying to convince her to give them information and assuring her that she'll be fine, she finally spoke up but her words were a shock to their very souls."I can't go back home. Everyone who ever cared about me is dead," she sobbed. "Mummy said it's my fault and that I'm bad luck. She sent me away from her before she dies too. She always hated me and now she hates me even more."Veronica immediately rushed out of the room. Martin knew what a softhearted woman his wife was but even he understood her. What on earth could cause a mother to say such hateful words to her daughter? Regardless of whatever it is, how could she say such a thing to a child? He got closer to Lily and tried to calm her down. Seeing that she let him close, he slowly and gently wrapped his arms around her little body. To his surprise she hugged him back."I'm tired sir," she cried," I'm tired of crying and of all
Fortunately, he was right. His sister was there....but unfortunately....she was being dragged away by a drunk man. In the act of saving Andrea, although he wounded the bad man by stabbing his leg from behind with a sharp piece of wood, he was stabbed twice from the back. Andrea screamed for help over and over again, but to no avail. She tried to go get help but he held her hand and said, "Don't go. Stay...stay with me," he said and coughed out blood."Y-You need help. I won't be long, okay?""For someone aspiring to (cough, cough) be a doctor, I know it's over," he said and coughed again. Andrea's mind went blank as though she couldn't comprehend what was happening. Her mind had suddenly refused to register what was going on. "I know what you're doing. I can tell from (cough, cough) from your eyes," he struggled to speak and groaned, as tears started to run out. "Listen carefully to me Lily. You need (groans) to find Uncle Paulo. Ask mum..." He couldn't complete his sentence as he st
Andrea's apartment... Andrea finally got up to fully read the note on the card accompanying the package once again. 'How on Earth could I think such a narcissistic rich brat would be so nice to me?' she thought with a dejected sigh, still staring at the note which said, 'Sweet dreams dearest Andrea. Hope you can join me for breakfast tomorrow. Time and place are at your discretion...if you do accept my invitation, of course. No pressure though....if you're not available tomorrow. There's the entire festive season ahead of us. Love, Austin.' 'Did Lana put him up to this? I mean he is sweet and all but isn't this weirdly extra for someone I've barely spoken to?' she thought, staring at the card and wrapped box on the table before her with a lifted brow. "Oh Lily Andrea, stop overthinking again," she said, face palming herself for being rude about a clearly thoughtful gesture. She placed the card down and opened up the box. "EEEEEE!" she squealed excitedly. "Chocolate!" she whisper-ye
Moments later..."Austin? What are you doing here today? Giving up your off day?" Nicole, a waitress at Royal Blossom cafe restaurant asked when Austin walked in."Hey Nicole," he greeted with a smile as he moved over to the counter. "So many people are here today, much more than usual. Are we giving out free food?""You haven't heard? The boss came here today," she said in a gossipy mood."Why? He was here for the regular inspection two months ago so..." he was saying when a mischievous thought crossed his mind and his expression couldn't hide it. He turned to Yvonne who was already suspicious of his mindset. "Did he come to...""Shut up knuckle head," Yvonne spat blushing as she attempted to smack him with a nearby napkin."It was our 'beloved' Manager of Blossom Chain," Nicole laughed her heart out and chipped in, "Ouuu but he already invited her to a Christmas event...as his date....""Shut up blabbermouth and get back to work. I'm still your boss.""Wait, so if it wasn't him, who
It had been a week since Antonio and Andrea's meetup in the cafe. Antonio had decided to put the proposal on hold until the festive season was over. He therefore hadn't contacted her ever since. Andrea made it up to Austin by spending the whole of the next day with him, playing games, watching movies and recording videos for their YouTube channels. They still had a pending date but that had to wait since Austin was summoned home by his parents for Christmas day. Andrea, on the other hand, planned a donation with her fans to gift to an orphanage in the city. She visited them occasionally to play with them and teach them handy stuff. At a point in her life, she felt like one of them and that broke her heart, the very thought of feeling alone despite being surrounded by multiple people, feeling like a burden and wondering the reason for existing. She hoped to make them enjoy the holidays, forgetting their problems, even if for a little bit, by showering them with gifts during the festive
Lana opened the door to their apartment, acknowledging a knock. There stood three men, each holding two suitcases with the exception of one, who held just one and a board with a sheet requiring a signature. "Hello Ma'am, we're from Flash Delivery Service," the young nervous man in front informed. "Yeah, I can tell from the outfit," she immediately struck his confidence down, obliviously and curiously fixated on the luggages. The young man took a deep breath before continuing their mission, "We have a delivery for one Miss Lily Andrea Rob...sorry...Cabrera." "Uhm....sure. Please bring the things in. I'll get her for you." Lana screamed, almost sounding excited, calling Lily out. Clearly irritated and looking sleepy, Lily made her way to the living room, rubbing her eye with her sleeve-covered fingers. Andrea's P.O.V "Is there a prob...." My words failed to completely escape the source when my eyes landed on the men holding the suitcases, dressed in the yellow and dark blue unif
"Now, she has really crossed the line with me. I'll make her stay here as miserable as possible," Lauren mumbled to herself as soon as she was sure Antonio was out. Little did she know that he was yet to completely shut the door. He chuckled under his voice at what she said before thinking to himself, 'I know you will Lauren. You're my ticket to getting back at that wild cat.'***Around the promised hour, Antonio picked up Lauren from the office and made their way to the warehouse. Immediately the Audi came to a halt, the door flew open instantly, making way for the brightness of day that was shun out by the tinted windows. They were welcomed by a man dressed in a black sleeveless turtleneck shirt, a dark themed soldier camouflage pants with multiple side pockets, black wellington boots, wore a pair of black leather gloves, and had on a black headband. Arnold was followed by two others dressed similarly who stood at the entrance of the building, one holding a black briefcase with a g
"Lana, let go. I'm fine. It's nothing....""Nothing? Your once flawless skin is suddenly covered by dark patches after you disappeared for almost a month and you're telling me it's nothing? Get dressed. We're going to see the doc...""No!" I aggressively yanked my arms out of her grip. "I'm fine. It's nothing so please leave me alone. It's no big de...""No big deal? You think I can't tell these are from healing bruises? That means something did happen and if you won't tell me what, I'll find out myself," she said angrily and stormed off, taking her phone out of her pocket."Lana!" I immediately went after her, while putting a t-shirt on. "You're exaggerating. It's nothi....""Don't give me that Andrea. You...""Fine, it's simply none of your business," I boomed, cutting her. The air in the living room instantly became thick and suffocating. The astonishment and sadness drawn on her face was soft and yet heart-wrenching. "How can you say that? I...""Lana, you wanted me out of your b
Andrea's POVAfter about 3 weeks of being locked up in the Monster's mansion, I was released with three days of rest before reporting for work at Robles Corp. To be honest, my stay there wasn't all gloomy and stormy but it certainly feels good to be back in the apartment, with the exception of having to play the silent treatment with Lana. I knew she had been worried about my whereabouts but there was no way I could tell her that. I couldn't afford to get her involved in this, being already way in over my head with my little brother involved. I'd probably have had to sell myself for her and that would have been a nightmare, to be enslaved to Antonio. Sadly, that was already the case...just in a slightly less traumatizing way.On the other hand, Lana's return to Jackson had me up in arms. Just the thought of them together fused with the memory of his birthday party made me livid. I was worried about her well-being. Jackson, as everyone knew him, was said and proven to be a no-good spoi
"Where's Jenny by the way?" "Somewhere," he replied, nonchalantly. "By the way, tell your boy to get himself together and do the needful. Time is running and we must honour our word.""Mr Leon, don't you think..""I don't want to hear any excuses. You live with him for crying out loud. You practically raised him so you better start demanding that respect. He's basically your son. Let him know that. Do you understand?""Mr..." "Do you underst..." He was unable to complete his statement when a violent cough took over his sore throat. "Mr. Le...." Her words were cut short once again by the abrupt end of the call. "Oh dear Lord," she said, her heavy British accent loaded with panic. "I need to speak to Antonio about...""Speak to me about what?" a hostile hoarse voice interrupted from behind, just as she opened her bedroom door to step in."Good Lord!" she exclaimed out of fright, losing her grip over the keys. Thankfully, Antonio was swift enough to catch them before they were landed
"You're in no position to ask me to do anything. Don't forget I'm your boss now. In case you didn't know because you ignorantly failed to read the contract before signing, you begin work two days after you are fully discharged by the doctor...""You bast...""Complete that and it'll be the death of you Andrea Cabrera," he threatened with a stone cold gaze. "I'll take my leave now. Enjoy your grace period and try not to worry too much. It won't help you get better soon so you can finally start your dream job." He majestically walked out of the room with a satisfied grin, leaving behind a raging and panicking Andrea. She was left to her wild imagination to drive her mad, wondering what's next.***Hours later..."Mr. Perkins," the Vice Chancellor called out as he walked in, interrupting the ongoing lecture. He whispered something to the lecturer whose clearly displeased and confused expression suddenly turned to a stunned one. Jake, watching the scene playing before him from the end of
"Speak already Antonio and quit staring like that. It's rude to stare." He leaned in closer till his lips were barely an inch away from her ear and whispered to her. Suddenly, she stood frozen as he moved away to enjoy the look of horror on her face."You're kidding," she barely whispered, only making his grin grow wider. "You must be out of your mind!""You have till I get out of the shower to determine your brother's fate...""W-What about Lauren? You can't...""I never said I was firing her Andrea. Now, the ball is in your court. Either you work with me...as my personal assistant...""Antonio....""Or your little brother and the rest of your family suffer the consequences.""Y-You wouldn't harm them. You're not as cold as you portray yourself to be. You're....""Underestimated, that's what I am. As I said, you have till I step out of the shower to make your decision. I trust that you're not that dumb to test me. In the meantime, I'll leave you to start mentally preparing for what's
Lauren spent the night in the office, seeing to it that the technical department located the hacker as soon as possible. It then dawned on her to contact Antonio to make sure he knew she was doing her duty and would be giving him the good news soon. Hundred percent was an understatement of her certainty that Rachel was responsible. 'The best thing would be to present the grand gift of her location with undeniable evidence and gain Antonio's acceptance once again. I should at least let him know I'm aware and working on it.'She left the department and went to her office to make the call. Unfortunately, the confidence with which she announced the soon identification of the location was blown into bits by Antonio."I didn't hear from you last night, neither did I hear from the team after the breach. Forget about it. I've already located the hacker myself and I'll deal with the situation on my own," he said in his hoarse iconic nonchalant tone."I-I'll tell the men to get the warehouse re
"Sweetie, if Antonio hated you, you wouldn't be in his room. You would have been locked up in the basement no matter how severe your injuries must have been. He never let people come into his room. Honestly! At a point, it was so intense that, he personally took care of its cleaning, only permitting me to help him out. That, however, had to come to an end since the gentleman was often too occupied. Yet, even till date...or at least until you came into the picture....only a trusted few, hand picked by yours truly....had been authorized to attend to his room with me. That was until you came around. Now, he has given up his bed...I mean his BED...for you....""Wanda, don't say things like that....""But it's the truth Andrea. From what I know, he even beat up one of the guards who had you kidnapped and he was so so close to hitting Lauren....""Then don't say it like that. He just probably feels guilty. No, no, no, that would just mean he has a conscience and he certainly doesn't. It must
