I woke up the next morning with a terrible headache. My body was aching too, as if I had run a marathon. I winced and rubbed my aching back as I fluttered open my eyes. The first thing I saw was the handsome stranger sleeping beside me.
I froze instantly, my hand flying to my chest. Last night’s memories rushed into my mind- Richard’s cheating, going to a bar and getting drunk, and then seducing this handsome stranger.
‘Oh, God.’
I pressed my fingers against my lips. I actually slept with a stranger last night. This thought made my stomach flip. Some intimate scene flashed in the back of my mind, and I shuddered.
Panic set in as I realized what I had done. I had never been reckless like this before, and the thought of it now filled me with shame and confusion. My stomach twisted into knots as I tried to process the events of the previous night.
Despite my unease, I couldn't help but steal glances at the stranger's chiseled physique. I blushed when I saw his 8-pack abs. Every male sought it, and every woman fantasized about having a boyfriend like this. When I thought I had sex with him last night, my stomach fluttered. At that moment, I forgot to leave and kept looking at him, admiring his beauty.
Noel’s POV…
The subtle movement on the other side of the bed disturbed my slumber and I immediately knew the lady beside me was awake. Oh, this woman was so fucking good in bed. I enjoyed last night with her and wanted to taste her once again.
I reached out to pull her toward me. She suddenly pushed me away, startling me. With a grimace on my face, I raised my head slightly and gazed at her in bewilderment. She was the one who wanted to sleep with me and now she pushed me away. I couldn’t believe what was happening.
She quickly grabbed her clothes and started to put them on.
“Hey…”
“I am sorry. I am getting late,” she said.
Confused and annoyed, I propped myself up on my elbows and watched her quickly dress and prepare to leave.
Then she did something that I had never expected. She took out some hundred-dollar bills from her purse and slammed them on the bed, saying, “This is a tip for you.”
“What? Tip?” Before I could ask her anything, she was out of the room. “What the fuck?” I groaned, glaring at the closed door. “How dare she?”
She tipped me for sleeping with her! What was she thinking about me? She treated me as a gigolo.
“Do I look like a man whore?” I grumbled.
My anger boiled over, and I felt like chasing her down and confronting her. I threw off the covers and jumped out of bed, determined to deal with her.
Ring-Ring-Ring…
Just then, my phone rang. It was my beta.
I quickly answered the call. “Hello.”
“Alpha. I called you to remind you that you need to reach the new office at nine o’clock,” My beta’s voice came out of the phone.
I grimaced and rubbed my forehead. I remembered that it was my first day at the company I had recently taken over. I couldn’t be late.
“Yeah, I’ll be there on time,” I said.
Beep…
As I headed into the bathroom to get ready for the day, I couldn't shake off the feeling of frustration and anger that lingered inside me. I made a mental note to track down the woman and teach her a lesson for her insolence.
===================
Adelynn’s POV…
I dragged my exhausted body to the office. After graduation, I got a job in this company. I progressed in my career as a result of my hard work and dedication. I'd already lost my partner, but I couldn't afford to lose my job as well.
The new CEO would arrive today and take up his role. I couldn’t be late and anger my manager.
As I rushed into the elevator, I encountered Jennifer. My blood pressure rose as I remembered the upsetting events of the previous night. I didn’t want to be with her for a second and decided to walk out, but the elevator already started moving.
“You are still in the previous day’s clothes,” Jennifer scoffed, looking her up and down disgustingly. “You were fucking around all the night,” she mocked and laughed.
I couldn't stand it any longer. I wanted to smack her and tell her what a bitch she was. Just then the elevator halted and the door swished open. I realized I had already gotten to my floor. But I wouldn't go until I gave her an appropriate response. I turned to her and opened my mouth to say something.
“Adelynn…” My manager called me out.
I turned around and saw her standing right outside the elevator. “Thank goodness, you have arrived. Come with me.”
She practically dragged me out of the elevator. I glared at Jennifer, my insides burning with rage.
"Hey, Adelynn, the CEO will think you're stinky. Don't get too close to him," Jennifer cynically said.
“You…”
“Adel, don’t pay attention to her,” my manager said, dragging me away. “You have better things to do other than arguing with her.”
As we walked down the hallway, I couldn’t stop thinking of Jennifer's cynical remark about the CEO thinking me "stinky", making me feel self-conscious and anxious. I tried to brush it off, focusing instead on preparing myself for the meeting with the new CEO.
My manager took me to her cabin. “The CEO will be here at any time. The responsibility to welcome him is given to our team, okay? I am confident that you will execute everything flawlessly. And you look messy," she said as she examined her closely. "Didn't you get a good night's sleep?"
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. My world had crumbled around me last night. My hopes and dreams had been shattered. How could I tell her that I caught my boyfriend cheating on me with Jennifer?
“We don’t have much time,” the manager continued anxiously. “Go and make yourself presentable. If you want, use my bathroom and freshen up.”
I had left the hotel in such a hurry that I couldn't take a bath. I had only washed my face in a public toilet before heading to the office. And now I felt the need to freshen up first.
“So kind of you, Lara. I’ll get ready quickly.” With that, I dashed into the bathroom.
I quickly got ready and went to welcome our new boss. I stood at the entrance with my team, led by Lara. A sleek black car pulled up in front of the office building. Everyone was staring at the car, anxious to see the new CEO. It seemed each person was holding their breath.
I was curious, too, to know who this enigmatic person was. His identity was kept hidden from the employees. All I heard was that a very rich and powerful man had taken over this company. The air itself seemed to become standstill in anticipation.
At long last, the passenger door swung open, and a towering figure dressed in a black suit emerged. He quickly opened the back seat door. I craned my neck and peered over the heads of those in front of me to see the CEO. The tall, dark figure that emerged was none other than the new CEO, and his impressive stature commanded attention. Dressed in a tailored grey suit, he exuded an air of sophistication and power that was impossible to ignore.
Everyone gasped as they finally saw the new boss of this company. Even I couldn’t help but gasp.
Wait…
‘Why do I feel like his handsome face is familiar?’ I wondered.
Shit…
It was him – the man I had shared a passionate night with just hours ago.
My expression froze.
Unable to believe what I was seeing, I shook my head. But the face remained the same. I thought he was a gigolo. I even tipped him. But he was not a gigolo, much to my surprise. He was Noel Wilkinson, the new boss of the company. The shock hit me like the sky had fallen in front of my eyes.‘Oh, shit,’ I muttered under my breath, the realization sinking in.He would certainly fire me. Panic seized me as I contemplated the repercussions.‘What will I do?’ I thought, my heart trembling. I had to pay off my student loan; this job was crucial, and I couldn't afford to lose it.As he approached, I tried to keep my cool, hoping against hope that he wouldn't remember me. ‘Stay calm, stay calm,’ I reminded myself.I had been mortified enough already, and the last thing I wanted was for him to recognize me and make a scene. So, I kept my head down and avoided eye contact, praying that he would pass me by without a second glance.“Good morning, Mr. Wilkinson. We are all thrilled to welcome you.
I could barely contain the feelings that were racing around inside me. My stomach fluttered. My nerves were in a frenzy, rendering me motionless. Anxiety and fear gripped me, yet an inexplicable thrill coursed through my veins. The very thought of leaning into him and basking in the warmth of his embrace overwhelmed me, even though I couldn't quite fathom my peculiar fascination for him. Attempting to dismiss these emotions proved futile, especially with his hot breath sending shivers down my spine. In the meantime, the door swung open, introducing a tall figure—the same man who had accompanied Noel. The sudden intrusion prompted Noel to step back, and I hastily fled the room, my heart pounding in my chest.Nervousness consumed me, causing my entire body to tremble as I hurried back to my desk, yearning to leave the scene behind. Fate, however, had alternate plans.Upon reaching my desk, a surprise awaited me—a new file, challenging my assumption that the day's tasks were complete. An
My eyes widened in shock, and my mind raced with the implications. Werewolves? Real? Here? It seemed too absurd to be true. But then, without warning, his eyes glowed a fiery orange, sending shivers down my spine. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Was this some joke? A trick of the light? The surreal nature of the moment made me question if I was dreaming, yet the vivid surroundings insisted otherwise. As I observed the people around me, a peculiar aura emanated from each of them.Towering figures with muscular frames surrounded me—each one exceptionally handsome. Not a single person appeared average. The women exuded grace, athleticism, and beauty. It was then that it hit me—these weren't ordinary humans. They were werewolves, just like Richard. And they were all gathered here, in this secret bar on the outskirts of the city. It became increasingly challenging to dismiss the notion that werewolves coexisted in our world."So werewolves are real?" I stammered in shock."Yes, we ar
I hastily exited his car, the door slamming shut behind me as I raised my hand to flag down a passing taxi. The recent events replayed in my mind like a vivid, unsettling movie. His insufferable smirk haunted my thoughts. As the taxi pulled up, I threw myself into the backseat, my pulse still racing. The city lights blurred outside the window.I couldn’t believe I let him touch me in that way. I didn’t entertain his closeness, yet the mere thought of his touch sent an unexpected thrill through my entire being.‘What is happening to me? Why can’t I stop thinking about him?’He was my boss, and complicating matters further, he was a werewolf – an added layer of complexity I couldn't afford to entertain. I had to keep my distance from him. When I arrived home, I rushed straight to the bathroom, turning the shower on hot. I stood under the spray, scrubbing at my skin with soap and water, trying to wash away any lingering traces of Noel. But no matter how hard I tried, his scent seemed to
Adelynn’s POV…When I woke up in the morning, a wave of nervous energy gripped me. The prospect of facing Noel at work loomed like an ominous cloud, and I was hesitant to go to the office. What would I do if Noel appeared in front of me? Would he mock me as he did last night? The uncertainty churned within me, threatening to disrupt the delicate balance between my professional life and personal turmoil.I grew restless. This job was important to me, and I couldn’t lose it. At the same time, I didn’t know how to keep working there in a tense environment. Whether it was comfortable or not, I had to face the day ahead and fulfill my responsibilities.I hoped against hope that the workday would pass without incident. I wished that Noel would forget everything that had happened between us. Deep down, I knew it was wishful thinking, but I clung to the hope that he would choose not to bother me further. I had no desire for entanglements with werewolves, and my decision to maintain a safe dis
Noel’s POV…Despite my assurances, the mayor insisted on a meeting, prompting me to pay him a visit to his office. I walked into his office, a sense of confidence emanating from my demeanor. I had already addressed the issue at hand, and I was determined to convince the mayor that everything was under control. The mayor, a middle-aged man with a stern expression, looked up from his desk as I entered. He gestured for me to take a seat, and I obliged, settling into the plush leather armchair opposite him."Mr. Clark," I began, my voice calm and collected. "I understand your concerns regarding the recent incident. It’s just a small dispute. Nothing is alarming. The matter has been solved on the spot. There's nothing to worry about. Trust me.”“But I am concerned about the photographs,” the mayor expressed his worry. “I managed to suppress the matter. I am afraid more photographs like this may circulate on social media.”Fearful of the chaos it might cause in the town and the impact on hi
Adelynn’s POV…Richard's fiery gaze held me captive, pinning me to the spot as his calculated steps advanced. I tried to swallow, but my throat had gone as dry as the dust clinging to the fire escape behind me."Richard," my voice emerged shaky, barely above a whisper. Each step he took echoed in my skull, the fear a vise tightening around my heart. His smile, sharp and predatory, sent chills down my spine."What's wrong, darling?" he purred, his words dripping with mock concern. "Why the scared little rabbit act?""Richard, why are you here?" I forced myself to sound confident, but the tremor in my voice betrayed me. He could sniff it out – my fear, my desperation. He chuckled, a low, guttural sound that caused me to tremble. "Just checking in. Seems my little bird wants to fly the coop."My breath hitched. Panic gnawed at the edges of my mind, threatening to unravel the fragile control I held.“You are not welcome here.”“Really?” He scoffed condescendingly. “Why? Because you found
Consciousness trickled back in, slow and disoriented. The world around me was blurry at first, then swam into focus, revealing an unfamiliar room. Panic clawed at my throat, sharp and immediate. As I stirred, I felt a stinging pain in my neck. Wincing, I reached up and felt the rough texture of gauze against my neck.Memories of the previous night flooded back, each one a fresh wave of terror. Richard's enraged face, the searing pain of his claws, the blessed oblivion of darkness...Horror crawled up my arms. The prospect that I was again in danger prompted me to sit up. A gasp escaped my lips as I met a pair of dark eyes. I scooted back as far as the bed allowed. It was Noel, seated on a sofa beside the bed. His intense gaze fixed on me.'What is he doing here?' My mind raced with questions. 'What happened to Richard?'I looked around in awe at the room I was in. The opulent surroundings did little to calm my frantic nerves. High ceilings, ornate furniture, and the scent of something
Meanwhile, Adelynn entered. “Noel!”“Come here.” I beckoned her. “Richard is… dying. Talk to him for the last time.”Her eyes, glistening with unshed tears, darted between me and Richard. Hesitantly, she approached the bed.Richard stirred slightly as she neared. A weak smile, tinged with regret, flickered across his lips. “Adel, I am sorry,” he whispered and then coughed. “I-I wanted to reject you properly, to sever the mate bond completely.”“Don’t talk,” she said. “You will be fine. Noel… why are the doctors not treating him?” Her gaze flicked to me, a question brimming in her tear-filled eyes.“He was poisoned,” I replied. “It’s too late.”“What?”“You still feel bad for me even though I hurt you so badly,” Richard chimed in, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. “I don’t deserve it, Adel… Now…” He coughed. “I, Richard Gray, reject you, Adelynn… Have a happy life… with Alpha Noel…”With that final declaration, a long sigh escaped his lips, his eyes fluttering closed. The faint rise
Upon arrival to the pack, we sent Richard for treatment. Adelynn materialized at my side. Her eyes were clouded with worry. Before I could say a word, she wrapped her arms around me, holding me tight.“I saw the news,” she murmured. “The attack was brutal. So many casualties. I was terrified… terrified the witch would hurt you."Holding her close, I inhaled the comforting scent of lavender that clung to her hair. "I'm alright, my love," I murmured, stroking her back gently.“Are you hurt?” She pulled back slightly, scrutinizing my face. Her concern intensified as her gaze lingered on the faint line of dried blood near my chest. Her fingers brushed the injury with a feather-light touch, sending a jolt of electricity sparking through me.“Are you seducing me?” I asked, grinning mischievously. She looked at me with her wide eyes and my heart thumped. At this moment, I could only think about pulling her into the bedroom and claiming her.“How mean?” She pushed me away, jolting me back to
Noel’s POV…Two days passed, and we were still looking for the pregnant human ladies who had been taken away. But we found no clue. We had been keeping tabs on the Black Hounds Pack also, but nothing suspicious was noted. Instead, Tina had been helping us in the investigation, which was a stark contrast to the suspicion in my mind.On the other hand, human representatives were happy with us for rescuing the abducted people. We also presented evidence of witches transforming those rogues to attack the humans. While they acknowledged the explanation, the growing public outcry demanded a formal clarification. To quell the rising anxiety, they conducted a press conference.I was invited to the press conference. With all the evidence, I was ready to face the inquisitive reporters. The conference hall buzzed with anticipation. The mayor, with a reassuring smile, took the stage. He began by welcoming the assembled crowd. He announced that the kidnapped people had been rescued. He reassured t
My initial apprehension morphed into a cautious scrutiny. She was a mess. A worn-out white gown, once elegant, now hung on her frame in tatters, revealing glimpses of dirt-smudged skin. Her face, pale and gaunt, reflected a hardship that went beyond simple neglect. The stench that hit me then confirmed that she had not taken a bath for a long time.I was shocked. How did someone end up like this within the pack? My gaze drifted to the exposed skin on her arms and neck, marred by livid bruises and angry red welts. It was clear that she was abused. Who could have done this to her?Taking a deep breath, I forced my voice into a neutral tone. "Who are you?" I demanded. “What were you doing there?”She dropped to her knees and cried. “Please don’t hurt me. I didn't mean to… I didn't mean to hurt anyone here."“Who are you?” I asked again.“Ava,” she replied, her voice trembling. “Please don’t hurt me.”The fear in her posture, the raw vulnerability in her plea, chipped away at my initial a
I confirmed with a nod."Are you serious?" he breathed, disbelief coloring his voice. "The baby… It's mine? I am the biological father of your baby!” A flicker of a smile, hesitant yet hopeful, played on his lips. “That means… my infertility issue… Why did you lie to me? How could you be so cruel?” He barked, glaring at me. The pain in his eyes ached my heart."I'm so sorry," I whispered, regret gnawing at me. "I… I thought you didn't love me. That you just needed a temporary wife to solve some pack issue." Shame burned in my cheeks. "I-I was afraid," I stammered, tears stinging my eyes. "Afraid you'd take the baby away from me if you knew the truth."“What?” Hurt flickered across his face, morphing into a grimace of frustration. "Take the baby? What are you even talking about?" He shook his head. "So, you planned on leaving me… with the baby? That's why you were so eager to break the contract. Why wouldn't you trust me, Adelynn? I promised to take care of you both. Didn't that mean a
Ivy’s words caught me off guard.Second chance mate? The revelation slammed into me with the force of a rogue wave. She'd already found her fated mate? So that was it. The realization dawned upon me. Ivy had returned because her mate had been kidnapped.Who could have done this and for why? Why did Ivy approach me? What did she want from me?Several questions rushed into my mind, increasing my confusion.“Tell me clearly,” I demanded. Her eyes, red-rimmed and pleading, met mine. "I'll tell you everything," she choked out. “When I met Jack abroad, I realized Mood goddess had blessed me with a second chance mate. I immediately fell in love with him despite him being a human. We thought we would have a happy life together.”She choked back a sob, her voice cracking. "Then everything changed. We learned that a werewolf had kidnapped his sister. We rushed back, hoping to find her, to help. But we were wrong. So wrong."Her eyes welled up with tears, and she chomped with emotion. She regain
Adelynn’s POV…When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the familiar bedroom nestled in the warm bed. Relief washed over me, followed by a wave of dizziness. I blinked, trying to focus on the figure sitting beside the bed."Hey, sweetheart, you're awake." Noel's voice, gentle and warm, filled my ears. His smiling face stirred conflicting emotions in my heart.Gratitude warred with resentment. Yes, he had saved me once again. If he had not appeared on time, I would have been killed. But I couldn’t forget the fact that he had ignored my calls."Why did you come for me?" I blurted out, the anger laced with a tremor I couldn't quite control. "Shouldn't you have been with Ivy?"His smile faltered, a flicker of pain crossing his features. "I know you're upset," he said slowly, “but it’s all Ivy’s doing to make you jealous. She invited me to dinner, but I declined the invitation. I had an important meeting to attend to. She knew about it.”Noel explained everything to me.After heari
With a dismissive wave, I signaled for Caleb to leave. When he walked out, I answered the call.“Hello?”"Noel... Did I disturb you?" Ivy's voice, usually dripping with sweetness, came through the receiver. It used to sound endearing, almost playful. Now, it grated on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard."You already did," I replied flatly. "What is it, Ivy? Get to the point."A hesitant pause followed before she spoke again. "Don't be rude," she whined, the playful facade slipping slightly. "I just wanted to thank you for letting me stay at your place. I called you to invite you to dinner. Look, don't say no right away! I already invited Adelynn, and she said she'd come. It’s a treat from my side. Please, Noel… come.”I couldn't help but feel a surge of annoyance at Ivy's persistent attempts to insert herself into my life. I rubbed my brow, hesitating for a moment.I had an important meeting that I could not postpone. But the prospect of Adelynn alone with Ivy made me anxious. I did
Consumed by unease, I mechanically ate small portions of food whilst grappling with increasing turmoil within. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that Noel was in trouble.Suddenly, she broke through my reverie, probing gently, "Is something wrong with the dish?"Swallowing the lump forming in my throat, I muttered half-heartedly, "No, it isn't that. I just... don’t feel like eating.”“Oh, are you okay? You don’t look good.” She squinted at me inquisitively.“It’s normal for a pregnant woman to feel revulsion to certain food,” I replied nonchalantly and took some more bites. The next few minutes passed in a blur. Ivy resumed eating, eventually finishing her meal. However, I scarcely touched my plate, rendered unable to focus on anything other than Noel.Eventually, Ivy turned her attention back to me. “You must be thinking why Noel has not answered your calls. Isn’t it obvious that you mean nothing to him? As soon as I returned, his suppressed love for me emerged. He will soon break up
