"How's it going?" Deny Jacob asked, with a look that still showed emotion. What happened with Intel and what that could mean for the company because of what happened yesterday could have a big impact.
"We should have the repair results for you tomorrow, Mr. Deny." Arslan tried to stay calm. "I've asked the production manager to bring the repair samples over right away and take another look so we can avoid any problems."
"What about the Cyber product? Everything's fine, right?"
"Yes," Arslan replied right away. "The shipment to the Cyber warehouse is on track to arrive today as scheduled. The samples they're testing came through just fine. I'm meeting with Mr. Baron tomorrow. We'll be discussing the results of products with Intel technology that are bound to catch a lot of people's attention." He gave a little smile that seemed to say he was happy with the results of this work.
"Good. Keep up the good work. I think you should also visit Nakia. Try to show you're sorry for what you did wrong. If you made a mistake, own up to it and do whatever you can to win back their trust."
"Yes, Mr. Deny,"
Deny let out a long sigh. "I had some unnecessary concerns, but it seems I overreacted."
Arslan gave a little smile. "I'm sorry that I still have a lot to learn from you, Mr. Deny. I'll make sure yesterday's mistakes are corrected and we can get back to normal. You can relax."
"I'm looking forward to Cyber's product launch event. It's possible the launch won't have an impact this year, but next year, when Nakia's product has been on the market for a while, we'll start to see the defects when it's used long-term. And that's when Cyber came out on top. What about Nakia? It's only going to get worse, and we're going to see a lot more complaints. I'm really excited for that day."
"You really put the plans together well."
"You came up with this idea first, right? I'm just pointing out what might happen in the future. I know there are some unexpected things coming up, but I must find the right person to handle them, right?"
Arslan looked at the middle-aged man sitting in front of him, his eyes asking questions. "What do you mean?"
"I'm talking about Helena, your ex-wife. She's the youngest daughter of the Edison family. I'm sure you can't deny that rather shocking fact. I just didn't expect you to still be interested in this idea rather than turning around and leaving us, especially my daughter, for example."
Arslan felt the words were a bit harsh. The middle-aged man who was the interlocutor had a flat tone, but his gaze was disturbing. "I can't do that, Mr. Deny. I'm getting married to your daughter in less than two weeks. I love Tiara, and I mean that sincerely."
Deny Jacob gave a little smile. "I really hope so because I can't see Tiara being unhappy, especially because of you, Arslan. You've got to remember that if it weren't for me and Tiara, you'd be nothing."
Arslan nodded, even though he was starting to think about the best way to gain the upper hand without losing too many allies in the process. "I'll remember what you said."
"That's good." Deny let out a little chuckle. "All right, let's get back to talking with Warren about the company's finances?"
"Of course.
Meanwhile, in a cafe with a simple design, but a cozy atmosphere, visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee. She was like a woman wearing a tight black dress and wrapped in a loose, comfortable cream coat. She'd been sitting in the same corner for about ten minutes. She was waiting for someone she didn't think was important but who she needed to meet.
She checked the clock on her right arm one more time. She let out a little chuckle, feeling a bit annoyed that she'd been made to wait longer than the agreed appointment time. "Damn it, Helena!" she muttered, taking a sip of the tea she'd ordered. She thought about getting a cup of espresso but remembered that caffeine isn't good for pregnant women.
The sound of the bell above the café's main door caught Tiara's attention. When she turned around, the person she was waiting for came over to her table. She was first greeted by a waitress, but when their eyes met, Helena walked over to the table where Tiara was waiting.
"Am I late?" she asked, with a little smile. She placed a pink bag with a well-known brand logo and the latest edition on the table. Helena also had on a plaid coat that was mostly brown with a red stripe. She draped it over the back of one of the chairs, folding it neatly. Helena's stomach seemed to be getting bigger, which made Tiara feel annoyed.
How could she not? Helena was pregnant. Another life was growing and developing inside her. On top of that, the baby Helena was carrying was her future husband's child. Tiara was pretty sure she was right. It seems that all this time, Tiara was only trying to damage Helena's reputation and good name in front of many people. Tiara realized that Helena had never been unfaithful to Arslan during their marriage.
But there was no way she could say that outright, right?
"No." Tiara took a slow breath. The reason for the meeting with Helena was to make sure everything went smoothly with the Cyber product launch.
"I think I'm about 15 minutes late." Helena gave a big, warm smile. She sat down in the chair opposite Tiara. "Did you place an order?"
"Lemon tea. It's nice to know that this pregnancy sometimes makes me a bit nauseous. You know, a lot of pregnant women experience that, right?" Tiara said, rubbing her pregnant belly.
It was more like showing off her condition to Helena. She wanted to see for herself how pale Helena's face must have looked. Who wouldn't be annoyed or offended by Tiara's comments about her situation?
Tiara had a more positive approach to pregnancy and acceptance than Helena. Who is the legal wife of Arslan?
Unfortunately, Helena wasn't having any of it. Instead, she called over a waiter and ordered a few menus, including one she'd suddenly decided to try. Helena was satisfied with the waiter's explanation and ordered from the menu.
Not long after, the café bell rang again. But Helena kept her eyes on it. After all, anyone is free to visit this cafe, right? Just like Tiara, who is now focusing her attention on Helena. She's not paying attention to someone who enters the cafe area. But it was different with the person who came into the cafe area, looking around carefully. This was particularly true at the table where the key client was seated with the formidable Foxwoman named Tiara Jacob. The man sat down in a less conspicuous spot to keep an eye on things. He was relaxed, as if he already knew the vibe of this cafe, even though it was his first time here.
"What else is Tiara going to do to Helena this time?" the man asked in a low voice. He'd swapped his glasses for contacts and wore a mask so Tiara wouldn't recognise him. It might be a bit conspicuous, but since the pandemic started, wearing a mask is common, right?
"You look well, Helena," Tiara said, looking at Helena directly. Who seemed calm, collected, and unafraid of the meeting. Didn't the events of that night make Helena's heart tremble because it could happen again?
"I don't have much time for small talk, Tiara." Helena let out a soft sigh. She gave a little smile at the corners of her thin lips. Her eyes met those of the other person in the conversation, who seemed to enjoy saying things she didn't want to hear today. "What do you want?"
Tiara let out a little laugh at that. "You really like openness, huh?" Then the woman stood up straight, which seemed to say that their conversation was over. "Make sure you come to my wedding, Helena."
"You invited me as if we were close friends," Helena said, a little snappishly.
"You don't want to congratulate your ex-husband? Or do you still think Arslan might come back to you?"
Helena gave a little grin. "If I did," she said, giving her slightly bulging belly a little rub. "I'm sure Arslan wouldn't have to think twice about returning to me, Tiara. I'm in a different position than just another woman who can't support him."
Tiara didn't say anything.
"I'm sure you understand what I mean." Helena gave a little smile. "You asked one of the hospital nurses to leak information about my situation."
"The only person Arslan loves is me, Helena. He wouldn't care about your pregnancy." Tiara crossed her arms across her chest.
"Let's take a step back here. I'm not trying to take away your happiness. I hope you can organize a big party for your wedding. I've asked Wilna to put together a little something special for you."
Their conversation was cut short by the arrival of a waiter with Helena's order. The smell was incredible, and Helena's appetite was piqued. "Are you sure you don't want to eat? Or is it because of my presence that you can't eat?"
Tiara let out a little laugh.
"Forget that thought, Tiara. Even I, who should be looking at you with a lot of hatred and anger, can still enjoy this meal comfortably."
"I don't need your comments, Helena."
Where Helena was concerned, she carried on with her speech. "You know why? Your presence in my life is pointless. It's just an annoying distraction that needs to be removed immediately. To avoid catching a cold or allergy from dust, which can contain millions of disease-causing particles."
"You!" Tiara said, her eyes filled with emotion.
"What more do you want than to come to your wedding? I could give you a big gift. I already did that. Oh, you mean the grand launch event for Cyber Group?"
Tiara suddenly looked at Helena with a lot of interest. "You knew about that?"
"Yes, I did."
Tiara's face suddenly turned pale.
"Their big launch is in three weeks, right? I'll make sure Nakia's party goes to it. Even though we're in the same business, there's no harm in being a supporter of the event. Right?"
"You're right." Tiara felt like giving herself a little pat on the chest, which was feeling excited. She figured Helena was in the know. Tiara was mulling over all the chatter about how to outsmart Nakia. "I was expecting you to step up as a true leader."
That remark made Helena stop moving the spoon with the carbonara paste. Her eyes met Tiara's, holding her gaze intently. "You finally recognize me as Helena Edison?" She let out a little laugh. "I have to capture this moment, right?"
Tiara looked at him in disbelief at what he had just said. "That's not what happened." Oh my goodness, why did things change so quickly? She was meant to be in control of the conversation and putting the pressure on Helena. Why was it that Helena seemed to be enjoying their conversation instead?
Damn it!
"But," Helena immediately switched from a cheerful, smiling expression to a flat, very different one. "I don't need a confession from you, Tiara. Or whoever is in front of me about my status. To me, confession is just a way of asking for support or trying to get along. Are you doing that to me? To ask for more support? Or... to show how close we are after what happened? So that they can see that apologizing to a person who has hurt your pride and taken someone else's husband can be easily obtained?"
"Should we really go to the office?" Michael asked again. He had to make sure his client was happy with the plan. Since her meeting with Tiara Jacob, Helena's been a bit more down than usual, even though she's not sure what was discussed."Yes, I've got something to talk over with Wilna." Helena just gave the matter a quick look and then went back to watching the road. The route was nice and free flowing, with minimal traffic, so the journey was smooth and fast."Okay." That was all Michael could say on the matter. While Helena still chose to stay quiet. There was nothing to worry about from the meeting, but it was just that... Helena felt a bit tired. Maybe it was because Tiara's energy was too negative, which made Helena feel drained. On top of that, she was serving Tiara's words, which sometimes went a bit far.Even so, Helena knew why Tiara wanted to meet with her. On top of that, Tiara wanted to talk about her relationship with Arslan, which Helena shouldn't get involved in. Give
Nakia was surprised when a rather eccentric-looking man came into his office. He was wearing a black hoodie, slightly shabby jeans, and clearly visible panda eyes with a messy orange hair tie."Excuse me, can I see your ID?" a security guard stopped the eccentric man in his tracks. Even so, the man gave a little smile. He pulled out his wallet and ID."I'd like to see Helena. Could you please give her a call right away?"The security guard looked at the man with even more suspicion. He looked the man over, checking his ID and appearance. He felt like this guy was out of place. He was a very different type of person. The man's appearance on the card in his hand was very neat. He looked fit and healthy, but in front of him, he looked like someone who hadn't taken care of himself in a week."Excuse me, do you have an appointment scheduled?""Let's just say, Ron Weasley came by for a visit."The clerk gave a little smirk. "You're not one of the Harry Potter actors, are you?"The man with
Today's the day. Her ex-husband's wedding is taking place. From the moment she woke up, Helena felt like herself. She felt no burden at all, not even a sense of sadness or disappointment. Maybe it was because of all the disappointment and heartache, plus what Arslan and Tiara did to her, that Helena just wasn't in the mood for love with Arslan anymore. After all, why should she hold on to it? While the man made the decision to remove Helena from his life and choose another woman who could support his success.Helena smiled as she thought back to her past."Ready to go?" Wilna came in without knocking on Helena's bedroom door. The small box held the blood-red diamond necklace Helena had won at an auction a few months ago. The black, crystal-studded dress that hugged Helena's body in a flattering way, combined with the strikingly colored necklace, made the woman look stunning even before she arrived at the party."Why am I not ready?" Helena let out a chuckle. "Could you put the necklac
"Please have a seat." Michael got one of the chairs in the corner. It was a bit hidden from the guests, quiet, and would certainly help the woman in front of Michael relax. "Can I get you something hot to drink?""You pay too much attention to me, Michael." Helena laughed, but she couldn't resist what Michael was doing to her. "I just need to take a seat." I feel like my pregnancy is starting to take over.""I don't think it's just your pregnancy, Helena. You've been busy with Nakia for almost two weeks, and sometimes you come home tired. That kind of thing can also affect your pregnancy." Michael went on at length and chose to sit not far from Helena's position. "You should try to take it easy at the office, Helena."Helena looked at the man sitting close by and laughed. "Are you concerned about me?""No." Michael looked around to see if there was anything he could do to help Helena. "I think there's lemon tea available, or would you like something refreshing?"Helena decided to disr
"What happened to me?" Helena inquired quietly. She tried to get up, and Michael helped her a little."You passed out. You're currently in the hospital and under the care of Dr. Adi."Helena took a moment to close her eyes, still feeling a bit dizzy. Michael's explanation sounded like a noisy bee. Then she started to remember what had caused this. "My baby!" she exclaimed, rubbing her stomach, which she could feel was a little more rounded than usual. "How's my pregnancy going?""I've called Doctor Adi, Helena." Michael moved a little closer to Helena. He wasn't sure where he got the courage from, but he reached out and brushed the strands of Helena's hair that were touching his face. As a result, the woman looked at Michael with a look of disbelief."There's no need to worry. Your pregnancy is fine, but it would be good to hear what Doctor Adi has to say."Helena blinked a few times. She wasn't sure whether to remove the hand that was casually touching her hair. Or just let it go bec
On his way to Nakia's office, Arslan was more focused on his cell phone. The report Rudi gave him was a real eye-opener. The man was so shocked by what he saw on the screen that his heart stopped beating for a second.[Rudi: Miss Helena is about 18 to 19 weeks pregnant, Mr. Arslan. The baby is doing well, but her doctor sometimes suggests she take it easy.Just to let you know, the ultrasound results I got were from last month's examination, sir. I'm sending you some photos and info from the hospital. Miss Helena is in the heavily guarded VVIP room, and we've confirmed that she's the youngest daughter of the Edison family. She's only visible to those who are interested.]The report that Rudi provided was quite detailed, and the photos that were listed led Arslan to conclude that this is what had happened. The truth that was hidden behind it. All the pieces of the puzzle started to fit together. Arslan's memory of his ex-wife's figure was becoming more detailed, particularly noting cha
Wilna was taken aback. For the words she had just heard, which Arslan Tan had uttered so lightly. "What did you say?" Wilna tried to hold back her laughter and the urge to call security. It was tough for Wilna to stay calm in the face of a guy like Arslan. "Mr. Arslan, I'm not sure where you got your information about Helena's condition. I seriously doubt that Helena would ever go back to someone like you, especially after everything you did to her."Arslan chuckled, not fazed by Wilna's serious tone. "Oh, come on, Wilna. You know as well as I do that Helena is a gentle woman. I'm sure she would have thought of her son. No mother would let her child grow up without a father, right?"Wilna held back from cursing the man in front of her. Her hands were already clenched so tightly that her knuckles were turning white as her anger began to rise. She wanted to give the guy a piece of her mind so badly that he would immediately zip it.In the end, Wilna let out a little chuckle. "Do you rea
This is already the second day Helena has been allowed to return home. However, Helena was not allowed to work or do any serious activities. If that was violated, it wasn't just Wilna or Thomas who scolded her. Thomas's threat of telling their father the truth about Helena's situation made Helena think a hundred times. Not yet.Helena didn't want to talk about the household drama and her pregnancy until the breaking point where she repaid all Arslan's behaviors. Especially to Nakia. Maybe if Helena's household affairs and this pregnancy, could be discussed in a more relaxed situation. But Nakia's problems with Intel Corp cannot be ignored.Hanry Edison had trusted group's Nakia with all his heart to Helena and she wouldn't betray her father's trust. She would never let Nakia be in a position of concern.“The garden in this house is really well cared for.”That remark made Helena turn her head. The woman was sitting on the garden bench at the back of the house. Enjoying the breeze that
The next morning, Helena woke up feeling much lighter and calmer. In fact, if Helena were to be honest, it was one of her best mornings ever. Waking up to a window with a beautiful, serene view of the city. The air was cool and made Helena feel at home on the balcony of her room.Today Helena planned to visit a museum that exhibited some famous artworks and if she was lucky, Helena wanted to bring one of them (if it sold) for her collection or to gift a client who loved artworks. It was for the benefit of her company as well since Helena did not rule out gift-giving as a strategy to make the partnership work.“I think it's time for me to go,” Helena said as she organized her small bag. She didn't want to leave anything behind. Today her father was not accompanying her. There was an invitation to lunch with an old acquaintance and of course, they discussed some important matters. It wasn't that Helena didn't want to be involved but she wanted to make the most of her time in Switzerland
“Good evening, Mr. Hanry and Helena,” Alaric greeted in a polite tone. He was waiting for Helena and her father to come out of the hotel for dinner. As per his promise to take them to one of the recommended restaurants not far from the hotel where they were staying.“The police chief isn't as busy as I thought,” Helena said with a laugh. She thanked Alaric for his concern just before he invited her to get into the car. Her father was already inside and sitting comfortably.“I've been busy but I've put in a lot of time to entertain you. When else will you visit this place?” Alaric laughed lightly. “Or are you planning to visit again?”“I don't know yet.”“Or... you, Mr. Hanry? I feel very honored to meet you in person. Many of the things I've heard about the Edison Group being what it is today are all thanks to you.”Hanry laughed. “I haven't kept up with the Edison Group for a long time. My son is doing well, I'm just an old man waiting for my bank account to fill up with the company'
Helena stood in the room with her suitcase open in front of her. Some of her clothes seemed to be scattered on the big bed, as well as some other necessities that she had to put in the suitcase. Occasionally, she looked out the window, where the mansion's garden looked green and beautiful.“Miss Helena, what else do you need?” asked Vania, the maid who assisted Helena during her stay at the main house.“I don't know, I'm confused,” Helena chuckled in disbelief. “I haven't traveled like this in a long time.”“I'll help you and make sure you don't leave anything behind while you're abroad.”“Thank you Vania.” At least Vania's words relieved her. “Don't forget my hairdyer. In case it's not provided there, I'm too lazy to find a new hairdryer.”“Yes, Miss Helena.”Hanry entered after knocking on the door.“Papa?” Helena looked surprised not by her father's arrival but by what was in his hand. “Let me carry it. Why don't you ask the servants to bring it here?” Helena grumbled. Hanri brough
“What's got you in such a mood?” asked Wilna after returning from lunch. In her hand was the cup of coffee Helena had ordered. At first, she thought she would hear an exciting story from Helena about her meeting with her future in-laws. But there seemed to be something wrong here.Helena, who was originally cheerful, looked somber.“Nothing,” Helena said with a fake smile.Wilna raised one eyebrow, not believing Helena's words. She sat on the sofa in front of Helena and offered her the coffee she had brought. “Oh, come on, you can't fool me. How long have I known you?” Wilna asked as she savored her cup of coffee. “Your face looks more pathetic than any tragic play I've ever seen.”Helena just sighed as she took the coffee and sat next to Wilna. The heat that the coffee cup brought to her palm made Helena hold it tighter. She hoped Wilna would give up and stop asking questions. But who was she trying to fool? This was Wilna-the friend who could always get her to talk, even when she di
Six months had passed since all the drama.“Is there a follow-up meeting?” Helena asked Wilna who was still going through some files. Because of Helena's question just now, Wilna looked up and stared at her best friend and boss. She seemed to think before she finally spoke.“I don't think so. Besides, all your dealings with the production and marketing teams have been handled by Gio. He's reliable.”Helena chuckled. “But afterward, he must have complained about a lot of things, especially that he couldn't go back to his apartment because he had too much work at Nakia.”Wilna spluttered. “Who told him to live so far away from the office?”“Sometimes I feel sorry for Gio. He's adapting a lot to his surroundings but there's no denying it, if that's what you have to do. Right?”Wilna nodded enthusiastically. “Should we ask him to transfer? Gio is a potential employee for Nakia, Helena. Do you know how much of an impact he could have on Nakia's survival?”“I know,” Helena replied immediate
I really wanted to get rid of this uncomfortable feeling. Even though the vibe was quite relaxed and the song I was listening to was pleasant, it still felt awkward.“Where are we going, sir?” I asked. For the longest time. His answer? Just a big smile and a mischievous grin. Typical of a man named Thomas Edison. More often than not, he was annoying with his multiple desires, dizzying with so many detailed things he wanted, not to mention that sometimes he acted like a sulking five-year-old.I don't understand why so many people admire him. I know he has extraordinary capacity as a leader. But... I guess that's a performance Thomas often gives in front of many people. In front of me? It's a different story.Just like this afternoon. Even though his meeting schedule with Sofie had been arranged in such a way. It was a little difficult to contact the woman in the middle of her busy schedule with the launch of the new product she was managing. Sofie Ansela, the daughter of a rich family.
“Why is this happening to me?” I grumbled with a grumpy face. Really, dinner this time made me sick. Plus, Lily hasn't come home yet because she has work to finish immediately. At least if Lily joins us at the table, I can hold my temper a bit. What exactly is this asshole doing?“You don't have to bother bringing us a lot of food like this, Charles.”I heard my aunt speak in a friendly tone that was so sincere. Charles brought two large paper bags with the logo of a famous restaurant as gifts. I saw them as useless items in this house. Aunt Merry had prepared a separate dish for dinner.I stirred the food on my plate with no intention of actually eating it. Several times Aunt Merry offered me various delicious dishes at the dining table, but I refused. Really, I didn't want to eat the food Charles had brought for dinner this time.Uncle's voice talking about the house renovation plan sounded like the buzzing of mosquitoes in my ears. I only replied as needed, one or two words that I
Thomas really made me do a shitty morning activity. I had to wake up early, missing breakfast with Aunt Merry just to pick him up at the apartment. Ridiculously, I couldn't refuse not because I didn't have the courage. I saw that Thomas was really busy with his files. So... what that man was asking for wasn't just an excuse. He needs my help.So here I am now. Choosing a suit that suits him-tie, cufflinks, watch, and shoes. It must all match, or else I will get him angry. That's also why I had to take the time to study colors. It must be because the stuff in Thomas's clothes comes in a variety of colors.“Your clothes are ready,” I half shouted. I couldn't possibly talk in front of Thomas' bathroom door. Ugh! After sorting the clothes, I glanced at the dining table where there was nothing but a slice of bread with no jam on it.“How can he have so much energy with just two slices of bread?” I said as I opened the fridge. I took out the eggs, sliced beef, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber
“Damn,” I grumbled with an annoyed step. The encounter with Charles had completely ruined my mood. I was hungry but because of the argument, my taste buds just disappeared. I had to fill my stomach immediately because my job as Helena's replacement could not be taken lightly.Along the way to Helena's room, I kept thinking about that shameless Charles. God, he showed me a very bad side. And I felt that the sadness and disappointment that my marriage had failed was not as bad as it seemed. I was indeed sad, because what I wanted and longed for had come to an abrupt end. With an affair that I never expected. But the more days I pass, the more grateful I am that the failure happened.Including the incident this afternoon.Perhaps because I was too busy with thoughts that didn't lead to work, I had unknowingly stepped closer to Helena's office. The elevator that took me to my floor destination also seemed to be moving quickly. Unfortunately... I haven't put anything in my stomach as food.
