CLARA’S POV

"I think you should get the pharmacist fired," Lydia said as we climbed into the backseat of the car.

My mind whirled with thoughts as I tossed my options around in my head. I hadn't forgotten the role that pharmacist played in my misfortune all those weeks ago. But, was getting her fired enough punishment for that?

The woman had blatantly refused to help me before I miscarried, and that was something I would never forget. Even though it might have been too late to save my baby, her help would have stopped me from crying and bleeding out on the street.

I could have gotten some decency instead of the stares and disgrace I'd endured on the street. And to think that she was a woman. My fists clenched. I couldn't let that slide.

After a few minutes of driving, we arrived at the pharmacy. I exited the car with my bodyguards and Lydia in tow.

We walked into the pharmacy, and just like I prayed, the person at the counter was the same lady who had ignored me. A fla

NATE’S POV "Let's toast to the downfall of that bitch!" I laughed raising my glass to clink Isla's. Isla laughed as we sipped on our wine. We were seated in my office celebrating the success of our plan. I was confident it was going to go accordingly, but I hadn't anticipated just how well it would play out. It was even better than I expected. I'd heard from my sources that the news affected Clara so much that she went missing for hours. It had left her a mess, to say the least. Laughter bubbled in my throat as I imagined her crying and walking through the forest, trying to take her life. I almost wished I'd been there to watch, but it was satisfying nonetheless. "That bitch had no idea who she's dealing with. She must have thought her petty quality inspection would hurt me, but oh, she had no idea how far I could take it. Now she's the one crying," I laughed. "Even with all the money and power she has attained, she's still so dull and stupid. She couldn't even think of a g

CLARA'S POV I could see the anger flashing in Nate's eyes as I called the director of health. Mr. Gregory was the director of health for the territory, meaning that he could overrule an Alpha's orders regarding health matters. The only person he was inferior to was the Alpha the territory, Edward, my husband. And it was clear by the look on Nate's face that he knew this. I put the phone on loud speaker so the entire room could hear the conversation I was about to have with Mr Gregory loud and clear. "What can I do for you today, Luna Clara?" He asked. "I need you to file for the suspension of licence of a certain Mr Albert who owns a pharmacy in Breakstone Pack. I also want his pharmacy shut down due to his inability to render unbiased health care and services." I demanded. "Alright, Luna Clara. As long as you are the one asking me to do it, I will get it done immediately without further questions." Mr. Gregory responded. With a smile, I ended the call. Albert's smi

NATE'S POV "How could she do that? How could she fucking do that?!!" I screamed, flinging the glass cup in front of me so hard that it smashed against the wall and shattered into pieces. I landed a violent kick to my desk, sending it tumbling down to the ground. There was so much pent up rage in me, I had to let it out somehow. That fucking bitch. Oh, how I wanted Clara's head on a platter. I couldn't believe she did that to me. I couldn't let her get away with it. I just wouldn't. "Nate…" Isla called out to me, her voice shaky. She was standing at a corner of my office, trying to calm me down. But it proved usesless because I was irritated by the sight of her face. I wasn't in the mood to see anyone around me right now, least of all, Isla. She took a timid step toward me. "Nate, please just try to ca–" "Don't fucking tell me to calm down!! CLARA “I heard you visited Breakstone Pack today.” I was leaning against the counter in the kitchen, sipping from a cup of chamomile tea and watching Edward quietly from over the rim of the ceramic. “And you also purchased the Al Blue News building?” Edward pressed on, his expression stoic and unreadable as always, the last words coming out as a question. Why couldn’t he just act human, even once? Would it actually kill him to show a bit of emotion? “Are you stalking me now?” I returned, wrapping my palms around the warm ceramic cup. He sighed, threading his fingers through his hair. “Stalking you?” He queried, his brows raised in incredulous curiosity. “I’m only looking out for you, Clara. And besides, we’re married to each other, so there shouldn’t be secrets between us.” At his words, I scoffed, setting down the cup on the countertop. “Secrets?” I asked, raising a brow, “That’s rich coming from someone who has his emotions bottled up and has refused to let me in on

EDWARD’S POV I lifted the wine glass to my lips and took a sip, letting out a tired groan. Jaxon, who was seated opposite me on the rooftop of the penthouse, cocked an eyebrow. “Is everything okay?” He asked, “You’ve sighed at least twenty times since we’ve been here.” I sighed again, looking away. “I’m fine, Jaxon.” The wind blew against my face, ruffling my hair, and I wasn’t comforted by it, as I usually would be. I was restless and troubled about this new development. And I just couldn’t understand why Clara had seemed slightly offended, disgusted and uncomfortable at the idea of intimacy. What was so wrong about it? Moreover, we used to like each other. Wasn’t that right? So, what was the problem? “I don’t think you’re fine,” Jaxon argued staring at me. “Because it’s been a while we sat together like this to have a drink, and we both know you mostly drink when you’re—” “I said nothing’s wrong,” I interrupted abruptly, and Arthur, who stood beside me with a b

CLARA I stepped into Edward’s room and shut the door behind me, the cold wind biting at my skin through the light red lingerie I wore. My legs and cleavage were on full display, and a wave of doubt crept in. What was I thinking, wearing this? Edward turned, a glass of wine in his hand, and my gaze instantly locked onto the undone buttons of his shirt. The sight of him like that, effortlessly handsome, sent my heart into a wild rhythm. My breath hitched as his eyes slowly traveled over my body. But just as our gazes met, he looked away. We were both nervous. I could feel the energy hanging very low in this room, and there was a good reason for it. This was the night we’d agreed on, for the natural conception. We’d have sex tonight. I couldn’t believe this was about to happen, because if anyone had told me back in high school that I would eventually have sex with Edward Sterling, and like this, I’d have called them mad. But here I was now, standing in his room, showered and per

CLARA I woke up the next morning, feeling completely exhausted, but for some reason, it was in a good way. Just as I noticed the throbbing ache between my legs, I realized I was lying on something hard and…comfortable. It was at that moment I realized I was still wrapped in Edward’s arms. I jolted up from his chest with my heart beating loudly, pushing him up in the process. He sat up on the bed, concern marring his beautiful features. “Hey,” He said softly, “Are you okay? Did something happen?” He looked around in slight panic, trying to find a reason for my sudden reaction. I grabbed the sheets, pulling them up to cover my nakedness as I suddenly realized I was fully exposed. “Nothing,” I mumbled, feeling heat rush to my face. I had slept off in his arms. Of course, it was unrealistic for me to have returned to my room last night. But waking up to him felt awkward. He sighed, pushing his fingers through his hair. “I thought something happened,” He exhaled in relief as he

CLARA’S POVI took small, conscious sips of my tea as I sat in the garden, the morning sun radiating off my skin and bathing me with a beautiful glow.I flexed my neck, feeling sore. My entire body ached but I tried not to think about why. My face flushed in embarrassment as I remembered the steamy night. I bit down on my lips to rear the memories back into my head.“Stoppp, thinking about him,” I whispered in a small voice, closing my eyes. But the memories wouldn’t just go awayA memory of his face as he was slipping his fingers in and out of me tormented me, and my body tingled with remembrance.I pressed my legs together, taking another sip as if it would help keep the thoughts away.At that moment, I felt a presence behind me, and I turned to see Lydia standing a few feet away. “Good day, Luna Clara,” She greeted with slight courtesy. And I acknowledged her greeting with a slight nod of my head, motioning her to take a seat on one of the chairs. “Do you have what I asked for?”

EDWARD’S POV I stood at the floor-to-ceiling window of the meeting room, gazing outside to ease my mind. My fingers absently moved over my jaw as my mind churned despite my attempts to forget everything. In the faint reflection on the glass, I caught a glimpse of myself and paused. I looked like hell. I looked unkept, my eyes hollow. A sigh escaped my lips. I’d been neglecting my appearance, my health, everything. But how could I not? I felt restless day and night. Every damn minute, I was either pacing or spiraling. Nothing sat right anymore. This entire mess? whatever game was being played, I couldn’t get ahead of it. No matter how hard I tried, I always felt like I was several steps behind. At first, I thought it was just Nathaniel Bennett pulling strings. But now I was sure… someone else was involved. Someone smarter. Someone staying hidden, and easily manipulating things. Whether they were working with Nathaniel or acting alone, I still couldn’t tell. That uncerta

CLARA’S POV I stood at the floor-to-ceiling window early in the morning, rubbing my stomach as I looked out over the estate. Most of the guests were already leaving especially those who’d recovered and I felt a faint feeling of relief watching them go. Very faint. These people likely carried resentment toward us now as they left. For something we hadn’t done and we didn’t even understand ourselves. They probably blamed us for everything that happened during the banquet, forgetting that we were also victims. Their outburst yesterday had really hurt me, considering how I wanted the banquet to be successful, how I looked forward to it as it was my first time. I was celebrating the baby in my womb but they forgot that part, they forgot that I was hurting too. A slow burn of anger rose in my chest. I clenched my fist, trying to push it down. It was pointless, getting worked up over what I couldn’t yet control. I turned slowly, my gaze settling on Edward at the far end of

EDWARD’S POV By the time we left the kitchen, I was completely drainedmentally and physically. My thoughts kept circling back to the brown-haired suspect. Who was he? Why would he do this? Was it personal? Against me? Clara? No matter how I tried to piece it together, nothing made sense. I couldn’t think of his motive, his reason. I just had questions without answers. Jaxon had gone off immediately to search the Estate, determined to find the boy. That left me with a handful of guards escorting me to the hospital wing. We hadn’t gotten far when a strange sound reached my ears. It was faint and distant, sounding like chants. I slowed, listening carefully. At first, I thought it might just be in my head, some lingering stress playing tricks on me. But with every step I took, the chanting grew louder. It sounded like a group of angry people were yelling close to the Estate. I stopped completely, frowning. What the hell was that? I gestured for one of the guards to

  • I Married An Alpha After Divorce   Chapter 071: A Suspect

EDWARD’S POV Just as more emergency vehicles were pulling into the hospital wing of the Estate, I rushed in through the main entrance, feeling even more frustrated. I hurried into the wing, my eyes quickly catching the panic in the air. I looked around the hallways, filled with people groaning on both my left and right. Most of them were throwing up badly, dropping to their knees. It was complete chaos in here. I saw some doctors and nurses helping the poisoned victims who were too weak to move, guiding them into the wards. As I moved quickly through the hallways, I noticed almost every ward was packed full of sick people. This was horrible. What made it even more disturbing and upsetting was that most of the people vomiting so terribly were important figures in the territory—Alphas and Lunas of high ranks. I shook my head at the sight, my fingers curling into fists at my sides, wanting nothing more than to catch whoever was behind this. Even while I was worried ab

  • I Married An Alpha After Divorce   Chapter 070: Bad Banquet

CLARA’S POV I sat beside Edward at the very front of the hall, shifting my weight uncomfortably in the chair. The dress I wore was stunning but heavy. The layers of fabric clung to my body, weighed down further by the glittering jewelry adorning my neck and wrists. From the corners of my eyes, I could feel the stares. Nearly every woman in the room had their gaze fixed on me. Some looked on in awe, others in admiration but a few with jealousy. Despite the nausea churning in my stomach, I held my head high. I refused to appear weak in front of them. Today was a significant day, the Fruitful Banquet. It was a celebration of new life, of prosperity, and so many had gathered in our honor, the hall packed to the brim. I adjusted the folds of my gown around my ankles, then reached up to smoothen my hair. I needed to look flawless, to silence the rumors before they had a chance to spread. Edward leaned in, his hand brushing my hair gently away from my ear. “Alpha Reynold and his

CLARA’S POV “Congratulations, Luna Clara,” Luna Patricia said, towering over me with a wide smile on her face. “Thank you,” I replied, smiling back as I reached up to take the gift she offered. I was still very sick, my head pounding. I shouldn’t have been out of bed yet, but this was something I had to do before the upcoming banquet, which was only a few days away. Edward had wanted to cancel everything, but I refused. I didn’t want anyone to question his place as Alpha or damage his reputation just because of a little gift rite that every Luna has successfully done. As Luna Patricia stepped away, another woman walked up, her face tight with a dry smile. “Congratulations, Luna,” she said, handing me a wrapped box. “Thank you,” I said again, rising slowly to take the gift. But the moment her eyes dropped to my stomach, her forced smile vanished. I accepted the gift without saying anything, pretending not to notice her reaction. Even during a celebration, there were

NATE’S POV I watched as my lawyer poured me a glass of wine, a satisfied smile tugging at my lips. “I told you my plan would work,” I said as he settled back into his chair, smoothing down his tie with the same smug expression I wore. He nodded, lifting his own glass. “Worked like a charm, just as you envisioned.” “You’re brilliant, my love,” Isla chimed in from the corner of the office. “Everyone’s talking about it across the territory. No one else could’ve pulled that off.” I rose to my feet, exhaling deeply as I ran a hand over my already slicked-back hair. “What can I say?” I said with a scoff. “Everything I’ve been working toward was achieved in a single move. It was so easy to get it done too.” I turned. “You’ve heard what they’re saying about Edward, right?” I asked, glancing down at my lawyer. He nodded. “People are talking about how he’s abusing his power, how his jealousy is driving him crazy. And your ex-wife? They finally see how bitter she really is.

EDWARD’S POV I felt agitation course through my veins as I paced about the hallway restlessly, keeping my eyes on the door and watching as nurses trooped in and out of the medical wing. I heard a sniffling sound just close to the doors, and I paused, listening closely. “Luna Clara, please get well soon.” It was Lydia’s voice, and it sounded like she was crying. “We have so much to do!” she cried, hiccuping in between. “That’s enough, Lydia,” Jaxon’s voice rang almost immediately. “Luna Clara is going to be okay. You’re crying a river like she’s dead.” “I’m just worried about her!” she whined, the tears still in her voice. “It’s not like you know a thing about being pregnant.” “Well, do you?” he returned, and that was when her crying got louder. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back against the wall, trying to shut out their voices. But I was just numb all over, the new development with Clara weakening me to my bones. I was feeling different emotions all at once. A

EDWARD’S POV “People are reacting to the court case involving Nathaniel Bennett,” Jaxon said, stealing a glance at me over the papers in my hands. I sighed and sat up, tossing the documents onto the desk. No matter how hard I tried to steer clear of anything concerning Nathaniel, no matter the promises I made to myself to stay out of his mess, somehow, his name kept surfacing, circling back to me like a curse I couldn’t shake. It was exhausting. Groaning, I shut my eyes, a dull headache already starting to press at my temples. “What exactly are they saying?” I asked, looking up. “Is it serious enough that I should care?” He hesitated, clearing his throat, and I gave him a sharp look, silently urging him to get on with it. “Well?” I pressed. Jaxon shifted on his feet, clearly uneasy. “Some people… they’re blaming you for Serena Carter’s death.” My brows lifted, the muscles in my face hardening. “Blaming me?” I asked, my irritation rising. “And why the hell would the
