NATE’S POV

I threw my head back and let out a sharp grunt as I released in Isla's mouth, feeling satisfaction spread through my body. She got off her knees and wiped the corner of her lips before smiling and plopping down next to me on the sofa.

"Pour me a glass?"

“Of course.” She smirked. Just as she was pouring the wine, there was a sharp knock on the door, reminding me that I supposed to be working. The door opened and Mike, my friend walked in.

"Hey Mike," I said absently.

"Have you heard the news?" he asked.

There was something about his voice that had me dragging my eyes away from Isla's cleavage.

"What news?"

"It's about Clara-"

I couldn't resist an eye roll. "Mike, why would you mention her name here? Do you want to ruin the mood?" I glanced meaningfully at Isla.

Mike did too. Isla was already pouting.

Oh great! Now I would have to buy her something fancy to make her happy again. Not that it would be a problem though. There was plenty of money to throw around.

Michael bowed slowly. "I apologize if I spoke out of line, but I thought it would be important for you to see the news."

I was beginning to suspect that something serious must have happened for Michael to be reacting this way. Did Clara die? Maybe the stupid woman had finally met her end and then she would be forgotten forever. Or could she have made a mess in my name?

"It better be important for all the fuss you're making." Sighing, I grabbed the remote from my desk and turned the TV on.

"Turn on the news channel," Michael said.

As soon as I did that, the first thing my eyes caught was the headline boldly shown on the screen:

CLARA HARPER, EX-WIFE OF MILLIONAIRE AND BETA NATHANIEL BENNETT TIES THE KNOT WITH BILLIONAIRE AND ALPHA OF BLUE MOON PACK, EDWARD STERLING.

My arms felt like they belonged to someone as I shoved Isla off my lap. I stepped closer to the television, blinking rapidly to make sure I wasn't just imagining things. But the headline was right there, staring back at me, taunting me. I redirected my attention back to what the newscaster was saying.

The screen cut back to the face of the newscaster who was saying, "The two reportedly tied the knot today at the family court. Witnesses to the ceremony say them seem very much in love. When asked about her recent divorce from her ex-husband, Clara said it was bound to happen and that she wishes him well as she is now happy with Alpha Edward..."

"Bullshit!" I cursed furiously, flinging the remote so hard on the ground that it shattered into pieces. "She's happy? It was bound to happen? What the hell is she on about? That bitch must be crazy!"

Michael stepped forward. "That's what I've been trying to tell you from the start. It's not looking very good. It's all over every news channel and–"

"Just shut the fuck up!" I cut him off. "In fact, get the hell out of my office."

Mike's eyes widened in surprise. "What?"

"You heard me. OUT!"

When he still didn't move, I took a couple of steps towards him. That got him out the door fast enough.

I cursed as I paced the office. I wanted to punch something, to break something...

"Nate, you need to calm down," Isla said in a tiny voice. "Can you-"

I turned on her. "I can't believe that bitch married Sterling. Who the fuck is she? A nobody! Why the hell would Sterling even want her?"

"It doesn't matter. They suit each other. They're both miserable losers-"

"Don't patronize me, Isla." I jabbed a trembling finger at the television. "They called me a millionaire and Sterling, a fucking billionaire! DIDN'T YOU SEE THAT?"

Isla swallowed. "It's not- it's not-"

"Fuck!" I ran at the table, swept everything on it onto the floor.

"Nate!" Isla screamed.

"What?" I screamed back. "She doesn't even bother to come beg me for another chance. Instead she jumps right into another man's arms! How could she remarry only a few days after our divorce?! That cheap whore! I always knew she was cheap and useless.”

"Breathe, Nate. Breathe," she murmured. I struggled but obeyed. "Good."

She rubbed my chest in soothing circular motions.

"That whore-" I began.

"No more of that now," she said. "It's good riddance to Clara. It's obvious her marriage won't last. I mean, what man will want to be stuck with a boring and unattractive wimp like her?"

"I- I guess you're right," I conceded.

"Of course I'm right! Edward just married your leftover." She scoffed. "And he's supposed to be smart."

I nodded again.

Isla was right. Edward was having my sloppy seconds and I knew he would soon throw her out like I did when he was through with her.

So why did I feel so furious?

Maybe it was because Clara had kept up the saint-like act for the two years of our marriage when inside she was a cold, scheming calculating bitch. And I like a fool had fallen for that act.

How the fuck had she even convinced Edward to marry her? An Alpha? How?

I stiffened as a thought crossed my mind. Had they been having an affair behind my back?

My hands started to twitch. If only she were here now, I would shake the truth out of her, shake her until she-

"Nate..."

Isla's voice in my ear brought me back to the present. She was tugging on my arm.

I allowed her to lead me to the sofa. When she got me to sit, she crawled into my lap. She cupped my face in her hands so I was forced to look right at her.

"Clara is not worth your time," she said. "I promise to make you so happy you will forget all about her. Okay?"

It took some effort, a lot of effort, but I managed to give Isla a smile- a convincing one by the look of relief that crossed her face.

"It's okay, Isla," I said. "I was mostly upset about the bad publicity this would give me. Whatever feelings I had for Clara died long before I met you. She is nothing to me now."

But as I watched Isla smile and begin to undress, my thoughts remained on Clara.

Had I really forgotten about her? If Clara meant absolutely nothing to me like I claimed, then why did I have this overwhelming desire to deal with Edward and make him suffer?

CLARA'S POV I was a bit nervous. Yes. To be fair, everything had happened so fast that I'd barely had the chance to settle into this new role I was to play. It all still felt like a dream; that I had married Edward, that I would soon be the Luna of a powerful pack. All in less than a week. Sometimes, I pinched myself to know if it was real. The glint of the diamond ring on my finger was real enough. As I looked at it, I thought of Edward. If someone had told me in high school that I would marry Edward Sterling, I would have called them mad. We were the most unlikely match to ever grace the earth. I wouldn't even have believed that he would ever look my way. My cheeks warmed at the memory of the huge crush I'd had on him in high school. I had written several letters to him back then, and he had turned me down. Yet, he stuck by my side; defending me at every turn and protecting me from bullies. Now he was helping me again to get my revenge on Nate, my ex-husband. I lea

CLARA’S POVI was so blinded by anger that I didn't realise I'd slapped Nate until he jerked backwards and clutched his chin with his hand. His eyes bulged as he stared at me in obvious shock and disbelief."How dare you?!" He growled, walking towards me angrily. "Are you out of your goddamn mind?!"I stood my ground, unmoved by the tantrum he was throwing now. With my head held high, I closed the distance between us. "You don't get to speak to me like that anymore. I’m no longer your wife, so watch your mouth.”He let out another growl, lifting his hand high at the same time and swinging it forward to slap me. But before he could succeed, someone grabbed his hand, stopping him at the last second. I whipped around to see Edward gripping Nate's hand in the air, the expression on his face the very definition of fury."How dare you try to slap her?" Edward thundered. At the same time, several bodyguards surrounded us, and I could feel eyes on us from all over the place. Edward and Nate w

CLARA’S POVI exhaled softly as my driver pulled into the car park of Bennet’s Drive, Nate’s automotive manufacturing company. All the inspections I’d done today had gone very smoothly, but I’d been anticipating this one with some excitement, mainly because it was my first step in getting revenge on Nate.As the car came to a stop, my bodyguards alighted and opened the car door for me to step out. My personal assistant, Miss Lydia, fell in step beside me as we made our way down to the entrance. “Bennet’s Drive is the last company on our list today, ma’am,” she said. I nodded, already aware of that, and headed straight to reception. The employees seemed to have anticipated my arrival because they fell into a seemingly rehearsed bow of respect as they greeted me.Right after, the receptionist dialled a line on the phone, and I heard her whisper, “She’s here”. But I made no indication to show that I’d heard her.It was routine to wait until I was led up to the CEO’s office. So, I waited.

NATE’S POVMy blood boiled over with rage as I stared at Clara. All I wanted to do right now was smash her head into a wall as hard as I could till she bled. How dare she do this to me?This was not Clara I knew. She seemed to have sprouted audacity and arrogance overnight, which I knew was because of her marriage to Edward. But still, that was no reason for her to dare step foot in here and try to humiliate me in front of my board members.Yes, I'd imported low-grade materials. Yes, I manipulated the records to cover it up. But who did this bitch think she was to attempt to expose me? And to think she was doing it all with a conceited smile on her stupid face. The only reason she was aware of this in the first place was because she'd known about my dealings when we were married, and like the goody two shoes she was, she'd asked me to stop.It was even more irritating because she had absolutely no idea what it took to run a company. All she did was sit on her ass and run her mouth abo

CLARA’S POV"Ma’am, I think you should let me teach them a lesson next time," Lydia said as we settled in the back seat of the car.Her words were so unexpected that it made me chuckle. She looked genuinely upset, and I understood why. Nate and Isla were an irritatingly annoying pair that could get on anyone's nerves. Even I wanted to teach them a lesson, not to talk of someone who didn't know them very well.I shook my head. "That's fine, Lydia. I can handle Nate quite easily. That's not a problem."I had been married to the bastard, so if anyone knew him through and through, it was me. I knew the kind of things that pissed him off, I knew he had a fragile ego, and I knew just how to poke it. That was his weakness. Nate was too arrogant to believe that anyone could ever match up to him, and that was my strength. I already knew he would underestimate me, and that was why I would use it to my advantage and burn him to the ground. "Yes, of course, ma'am,” Lydia said, snapping me b

EDWARD’S POV"What are you trying to say?" I asked the council member who had just spoken. My eyes were narrowed as I stared at him, refusing to believe the words that had just come out of his mouth."I-I..I said you will have to produce a child within a year of being Alpha, otherwise your cousin can challenge you for the position."I slammed my hand against the desk in anger, rising to my feet. I couldn't believe this shit. What the fuck were they suddenly saying? Where did this alter to the rules suddenly come from?"What do you mean by that?” I asked him. “I am not blind, and I remember reading that will thoroughly. The only requirement to be Alpha was to get married, wasn’t it?”They all nodded. "Yes, Alpha. You are not wrong. But this…this is our basic law. Alphas of other small packs are given three years to produce a child, but you are only given a year as the Alpha of the territory. That is how it has always been."No way.I sighed and released a shaky breath in an attempt to

Edward was yelling, the expression on his face the very definition of fury.I crouched deeper into the blanket I was wrapped in, still shivering as I slowly sipped on the hot tea I'd been served. I couldn't look him in the eyes, because I was scared to see the anger I knew was shining in them. My entire body ached from walking around that thick forest searching for a way out. Edward hadn't said anything to me when he rescued me, but the moment I was treated and my health proved to be in good condition by the doctor, he descended on me.I had nothing to say, no words to defend myself with, because I knew he was right to be angry. In the corner of the room, Lydia was sobbing violently, her arms wrapped around herself as she begged Edward. "P-Please Alpha Edward…please punish me instead. It's my fault that the Luna was almost harmed. He obeyed."You may have seen or heard about the news circulating through several packs about my wife." I said. "Yes, I have.” He leaned forward. “Just a few minutes ago I was wondering what you planned to do concerning these rumors. They are quite vulgar. And although I know they are false, I still think something needs to be done about them."I leaned back and smiled. This was one of the reasons why I made Jaxon my Beta. CLARA’S POV “I just don’t understand him,” I muttered under my breath at the back seat of the moving car and shook my head. What is he doing to me? “What did you say, Luna Clara?” Lydia turned in her seat to glance at me, her brows raised in curiosity. Oops. I hadn’t meant to say that out loud. I flushed lightly, managing to compose myself before she noticed. I sighed, waving a dismissive hand. “It’s nothing, Lydia.” She studied me for a second, her brows knitting together in suspicion. But then she nodded, turning her attention back to the passing rows of flowers outside the window. I let out a trembling breath, my thoughts drifting back to Edward. He’d been acting so strangely lately—more affectionate, more attentive. It wasn’t like him. Not that he wasn’t kind before, but this…this was different. And I couldn’t make sense of it. Was I reading too much into it? Or was there something I missed? Or maybe I hoped he was actually paying attention to me. Was I delus

CLARA’S POV FLASHBACK—Years Ago A shove from behind sent me crashing to the floor, my head slamming into the wall. Pain shot through me and I groaned, squinting my eyes at the same time. “Why are you even here?” one of my bullies sneered as I rubbed my head. “You don’t belong here, yet I see you everyday.” “You’re just a weak, useless Omega,” another added. “You’ll never fit in. Why don’t you go back to your parents? Go find a school for people like you!” Their words tumbled out, all hitting me at the same time. I pressed against the wall, forcing myself up. My head ached, and my vision blurred with unshed tears. I fought them, tightening my hands because I didn’t want them to see me cry. That would only make it worse. As I struggled to stand, a sharp kick to my stomach knocked the breath from my lungs and I crumbled down. I gasped, a tear slipping down my cheek because the pain was too intense. “Look at her,” the one who kicked me laughed. “She can’t even cry r

CLARA’S POV I looked around in admiration as we breezed through the estate gates, the wind dancing in our faces and stirring a warmth in my heart. “Lydia.” She looked sideways at me, her face calmly drawn into a smile. “Yes, ma’am?” “I plan to launch my own company,” I announced, flipping my hair backwards and away from my eyes. We were walking through the estate on an evening stroll, the calm in the air just what I needed to clear my head. “Do you have anything in mind?” She asked, and I tilted my head to the side, thinking for a moment. Then I shrugged. “Well, it has to be something I’m passionate about, you know. Would make it even more fun.” “And if I may ask, ma’am, what are you passionate about? Is there anything you can think of? There must be something you like doing… something that makes your heart race,” Lydia pushed on, and I laughed, suddenly nervous, a fleeting memory of me tangled in the sheets with Edward crossing my mind. That was the new passion…

  • I Married An Alpha After Divorce   Chapter 029: Tell Me What You Want

CLARA’S POV I stood in front of Edward’s door, trembling, debating whether to turn around and disappear. But my conscience wouldn’t let me. After my shower, I had tossed and turned for nearly an hour, unable to shake the feeling of guilt from our earlier conversation. It gnawed at me, growing stronger the more I tried to ignore it. Eventually, I gave up, climbed out of bed, and found myself here. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I said something to him for my outburst. A word of apology, maybe? Taking a deep breath, I knocked and waited. I got no response. I knocked again and still no response. I raised my hand to try again when the door suddenly swung open, Edward stepping out. He stood there in nothing but a pair of low waisted trousers, my eyes roaming his chiseled chest and defined abs before I realized I was doing that. I swallowed hard. Focus, Clara. “Can I come in for a bit?” I asked, my voice smaller than I intended. He held my gaze for a moment before si

CLARA’S POV I took a slow sip of water, twirling my fork between my fingers. No matter how many times I picked it up, I couldn’t seem to bring myself to eat. Maybe it was because Edward sat directly across from me, his sharp green eyes stealing glances when he thought I wouldn’t notice. I wasn’t used to him staring this much especially when I didn’t know why. But what surprised me even more was that he’d insisted we have dinner together. Lately, he either wanted to have breakfast, lunch or dinner with me. It wasn’t a bad thing but being close to him made me feel things, it brought back memories I had tried so hard to forget. He cleared his throat then, drawing my attention. “So,” he began, his voice casual but probing, “what have you been up to these days?” His gaze lingered on mine. “I heard you left the pack today. What’s going on?” I straightened slightly at his words, wondering why he was asking. “How did you hear that?” A slow smirk tugged at his lips.

NATE’S POVI sat at the head of the table, barely listening as one of the board members droned on about stocks. My mind was elsewhere, thinking about the mess Clara was making and how she was wrecking everything and everyone around me.I wondered how long it would take for Jack to get rid of her. And if it would take time, I could deal with her slowly until her time was up. As I was lost in thought, something in the board member’s rambling caught my attention and snapped me back. “Hold up.” I straightened in my chair, my focus turning back to the room. “What did you just say?”“The company stocks… they’re dropping too fast,” the man repeated, his eyes scanning the room like he was seeking support from others. My brows furrowed. “And what are you doing about it?” I demanded, leaning forward and fixing him with an icy stare.“Er—uhm…” He stammered, looking for an answer.I clenched my jaw, breathing through the rising anger coursing through me. Was everyone determined to piss me off

NATE’S POV I slammed my phone down on the table, exhaling sharply. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. The investment deal I’d been counting on had just collapsed because of Clara. She was ruining my life, and the effect was driving me crazy. How the hell did a weasel like her even dare? Was this the same Clara who had once been completely under my control? The timid, pitiful Omega I had married? I scoffed, shaking my head. Impossible. Standing, I stalked to the cellar, grabbing a bottle of wine and a glass. I filled it to the brim, inhaling deeply as I tried to exhale every ounce of frustration boiling inside me. I needed to relax, to stop the inevitable migraine that was about to explode in my head, another gift from the chaos that bitch had unleashed in my life. I thought having to deal with the gossips was enough. But no. Investors were actually withdrawing from my company. “Bad publicity?” I scoffed, shaking my head bitterly. Did they not know every publicity is good? Lifting my glass,

CLARA’S POV“So,” I pressed on, tilting my head. “Do you remember?”Lisa’s jaw tightened, her eyes burning with fury as she glared at me. “That was a long time ago.”But beneath all that stubborn defiance, I saw it, the look of panic creeping in. She was trying so hard to act unfazed, but the cracks were showing. She was scared.“No, Lisa,” I countered smoothly. “That was just two years ago. Two years ago, you made my life hell even when I did everything to please you.”She let out an exasperated sigh, throwing her hands up. “So? What do you want me to do about it? It’s in the past, isn’t it? Why don’t we just forget about it and—”I let out a bitter chuckle, shaking my head as I watched the once fearsome, sharp-tongued Lisa begin to crumble before me. “You were so confident when I walked in here, weren’t you? What happened? Why are you trembling now?”She stared at me, silent. Her lips pressed together, and I could see how she was struggling to fight her tears. One thing about people

CLARA’S POVMy heels clicked sharply against the tiled floor of Urban Style as I stepped into the fashion boutique, Lydia striding briskly behind me, a document and bag in hand. The moment I entered, all heads turned. Some gazes held admiration, others envy but whichever it was, I met them head-on with a knowing smile.I had chosen this Molly dress deliberately, a statement piece designed to command attention and turn every head when you walk into a room. The mirrored fabric caught the light with every step I took, and paired with my red-bottomed Louboutin, it was impossible to ignore. The dress was blindingly red. My lipstick, just as bold. Too flashy? Maybe. But I didn’t care.Once, someone had told me I’d never look good in high fashion. That bold colors and dramatic dresses would never suit me.Well, I was about to meet that someone in this store, in this damn dress, looking every bit as stunning as she said I never could.I came to a stop in the middle of the store, my gaze locki
