The loud music is probably the reason why they haven't noticed me yet until I yell.
"Music stop!"
And the girls' giggles fill the air and when they turn to me, they smile. Blake's face looks like he's seen a ghost. He pushes the girls aside and drunkenly tries to step out of the jacuzzi, sliding a few times. His black shorts are dripping water on the marble floor.
"Care to join us?" one of the girls with ash brown hair giggles and slides her tongue ring between her white teeth making the most horrendous rattling, that's worse than nails on a chalkboard. I scowl at her, crossing my arms around my torso. I huge lump is forming on my throat already, making it hard to swallow my saliva.
When Blake gets to me, his feet wobbling like jelly, he speaks.
"Baby–" I cut him off. My palm held in front of his face.
"Don't you 'baby' me!" I hiss. Anger taking over my entire body. "What is the meaning of this? Who
In the car, I explain everything that just happened and I spot his muscles tense and his jaw tighten."Son of a... Look, I'm really sorry you had to see that and honestly it doesn't make any sense that he did that because you two argued because of Roxy. That's a lame excuse to cover up such a mistake," he turns on the driver's seat to face me, "I hate to see you like this... Crying." He catches a tear that's trickling its way down my cheek. His fingers feel warm on my cheek and I sigh heavily. His gunmetal blue eyes hold an emotion that I just can't read."He better not hurt you again, because I swear to God if he does–""Just... Just let him be. Take me home, please," I beg and he obliges."Okay. Just be careful, Kyrah. I care about you more than you know," he says and starts driving. On our way, I sit shotgun staring at my feet and a thought hits me. I turn to face Scott."Scott?" He glances
"He did what!? With who!?" Roxy shouts. Clearly, disbelief is displayed on her face. She slams her palms on the kitchen island and stares outside the window, pausing, as if to think."Keep your voice down, I don't want mom knowing about this," I explain to her.Roxy seems pissed off because of what I told her about last night. About Blake."Why didn't you wake me up? I could have gone with you. Maybe I could've taught him a lesson for messing with you. I– I'm so sorry babe," she says and pulls me into a hug."Sorry for what?" mom asks with a raised eyebrow as she enters the kitchen, tying her apron behind her and Roxy shrugs, grabbing an apple and taking one huge bite."Look at your daughter closely," Roxy says as she chews her apple."Jesus! Kyrah, you look like crap. Haven't you slept at all? You look... Depressed, are okay, honey?" mom shrieks.I shrug."I'm fine. I watched movies al
Wren, Roxy and I move to the edge of the deck and for sure, I have no idea what is happening until I hear Kye say."Shoot!"I gather up the saliva I can and we all spit at the same time. Wren spits farthest, then Roxy and mine which apparently hasn't gone twenty centimeters from the edge of the deck."Oh bummer." I pout and cross my arms across my torso."Come on, it's just a game," Scott says and everyone laughs except Vic."I guess we're both losers, Kyrah," Vic smiles apologetically and my shoulders drop. "Anyway, Wren and I are going to catch up, maybe grab some pizza. See you guys later," and he walks away, alongside Wren. They'd actually make a good couple, I tell myself."And we'll probably head out and grab some KFC, isn't that right Roxy?" Kye grins at Roxy and I can see her beaming with excitement."Chicken anyday, anytime. See yah guys," Roxy chuckles as they leave. They'd make an
Blake's POVI'm holding on to a glass of vodka when Carla walks into the room. Her hands in front of her as always. She looks confident as ever, with that never-fading smile on her face. I keep my focus on my drink and avoid eye contact. I can feel her sharp glare so I speak."What?" I ask calmly."Something is wrong, isn't it?" she questions and my jaw tightens as I close my eyes and grip the glass with all my strength.I've been in this room since I woke up and it's almost five in the evening. I didn't attend class today, I bet Kyrah did. I poured myself some vodka hours ago but I couldn't find the guts to drink it. I've just been staring at it the whole time. Thoughts of Kyrah have been coming in and out of my mind and I didn't even realize how one can lose track of time when they're deep in thought.I manage to face Carla who is standing right in front of me. I don't know how, but she always knows when something is wrong with me. Si
Kyrah's POVAfter a long day outdoors, I feel so much better. It was fun hanging out with everyone. Vic drops Wren back to her hostel and Kye leaves moments after dropping Roxy at my house. Scott has been nothing but hilarious today, I never knew he's that funny. After dinner, mum starts complaining about Snow."Honey, I've tried all I can since morning, but Snow won't leave your room. He looks... Off. I think he's sick or something. He hasn't eaten all day, poor thing. Could you check on him? I'm thinking of calling a vet soon,""Sure thing mom."When I head upstairs to my room, I find Snow curled up at one corner looking like a snow ball with his white fur. He looks tired and doesn't move much when he sees me. When I try to touch him, he winces, jerks away and growls.I try to carry him but he cries out in pain."What's wrong buddy?" I ask, "I need help here!" I yell.Seconds later, Scott is in my room, he lo
I'm standing in between Scott and Blake, and I know if I move an inch away, someone's going home with a broken nose or rib."What the fuck are you doing with this asshole?" Blake yells at the top of his lungs."He's my best friend, now buzz off!" I hiss."Best friend? Oh, okay. You always say that. I guess that's why he's allowed into your room when, I, your boyfriend, clearly isn't! I can't even get past your main door for crying out loud!" he snaps."What do you mean?" I ask him and he moves closer."Care to explain what Scott was doing in your room last night? Hmm? I heard you two laughing. You were laughing at his jokes, damn it!" he complains."He came to check on Snow!" I grit my teeth and roll my eyes at him. One by one people have started gathering around us."It's not snowing, Kyrah, stop messing around with my brain. I'm not stupid," Blake yells and Scott snorts.Tyler laughs
Sunday. It's around 7PM."He told me he'd send a car to get us," I inform Scott and he looks surprised"Oh," he says. "I guess I won't be driving today then."He's is in a navy blue suit, and a white button down dress shirt. His hair looks better than ever and his shoes aren't boots, or sneakers. For all I know, people who wine and dine at Rosewood dress to impress, you can't go there looking like a homeless person or a gothic rock band member. Rosewood, is a place of class, a sophisticated restaurant, it only accommodates elegant people. I bet the Queen has been there once.Roxy is in a hot pink, bare-back silk dress that reaches above her knees. She's in wedges. The pink matches with the baby pink dye on the edges of her hair. She looks pretty and colorful.I chose a grey, off-shoulder dress that goes all the way down to my ankles and of course my Jimmy Choo strappy heels work the magic. The dress outlines my
"Hey, hasn't he replied yet?" Roxy asks, placing her flute on the table. I shrug. "Not yet. Let's wait for a couple of minutes," I sound nervous and worried. Another hour and a couple of minutes pass as we sit there. Scott came back from outside an hour ago and he's now on his phone too. He steals glances at me every minute. "Not to be rude or anything, but... Are you sure Blake's coming?" he questions. I tried calling him thrice but he didn't pick up. What should I tell my friends? That he stood us up? That he stood me up? Because this dinner thing happened because of me and I dragged them here thinking it would be a lovely, bubbly dinner of reconciliation. Reconciliation? Reconciliation my ass! He stood me up! It's 10PM already. "I don't think he's coming." Saying these words makes my heart feel crushed. "Let's go," I say, trying to ignore the tears stinging the back if my eyeballs.
