"You look thoughtful, what's wrong?" he asks and I avoid eye contact and stare at the wall by my side.
"Roxy, my best friend had a bad day and I am worried about her. That's all," I sigh.
"Relax, you pretty young thing, she'll be okay, just breathe in and out and enjoy the moment," he grins at me.
I do as instructed and once I breathe out, I repeat his exact words in a whisper more to myself than to him
"Enjoy the moment," and I lean back.
Out of nowhere Blake softly shouts to no one in particular.
"Play some Destiny's Child,"
"Say what now?" I ask.
Immediately 'Say My Name' by Destiny's Child starts playing and I face palm myself.
"Oh, that. Seems like you only have to speak and everything is done for you around here," I tease.
He smirks.
"Yeah, it's quite fun you should try it some time. Start with the music if you wish, just say which song you want,"
"Silent much," Scott says while stealing a glance at me. We've been quiet for about ten minutes in his car as he drives and I don't know what to say."Are you okay? What's up?" he asks once I fail to respond and pulls over at the road side and turns to me, then he squints."Why is part of your hair wet? Did Blake do anything bad to you? Kyrah, say something or else we'll end up sleeping right here on this spot because I am not driving until you say something," he sounds dead serious."Don't worry about it, I'm just... Well I was in his jacuzzi then mom called and then you showed up outside Blake's house, how did you even know where I was?" I ask and then my eyes narrow at him, "You didn't follow us did you?""No way! Why would I do such a thing? I was taking a walk to the donut shop and met Jim, he told me he saw you and Blake going inside Blake's house," he says."Oh," is all I can say, Jim lives close to Blake, but not too close
A few minutes later, I'm still awake and I decide to wake up, so I switch the lights back on and head to the bathroom to take a shower.Scott is coming for me at seven in the morning so I might as well get ready early. After my warm shower, I grab my white robe, put it on over my pajamas and head downstairs to make some pancakes. I like mine fluffy so I take my time while preparing them.A smile curves on my face when I remember that dad loves my pancakes, I know he missed them and he'd be glad to have them for breakfast. At around six, I am done cooking and eating breakfast. To avoid waking anyone up I tiptoe back upstairs, and right before I close my door, my parent's bedroom door opens."Good morning Kyrah, you're up early," dad says while yawning and stretching his arms."Morning dad, I made pancakes for breakfast. Just how you like them," I smile when his eyes brighten up and without wasting time he's on his way to the kitchen dow
Voices are in the background and I hear Roxy's very loud whisper. At that moment, I choose to open my eyes."She's up!" Roxy says stepping forward and Scott steps in front of her, then Blake in front of him. Scott rubs his temple, agitated and heads out."Kyrah... How are you feeling right now?" Blake moves his hand to cup my cheek and I notice that I have an oxygen mask on.I look around and realize that I am not in our campus clinic.A bag of fluid is connected to a long needle by a plastic tube. The needle has been put on my arm and taped in place. The fluid drips from the bag, through the tube and needle, and into my skin. My arm feels cold."How long has it been since I passed out?" I ask Blake."Two hours," he says, his brows furrowed."And thirty seven minutes, that's a really long time," Roxy adds."Roxy I..." she cuts me off."I know, you had your inhaler but this time round, nothin
Kyrah's POVAbout thirty minutes after Roxy and the rest left. I'm still struggling to get some sleep when a nurse opens the door and walks in with a tray full of medicine bottles and syringes.I don't remember anyone mentioning any of that, and I hate medicine, totally scared of syringes, the one on my arm is enough torture for me to handle. Thank God they put it there when I was still asleep or rather, still passed out."Uhm... Hey, am I supposed to... You know get injected?" I question eagerly."No, dear, I'm only supplying your pills, what would you like to have for dinner?" the nurse in a white dress asks sweetly and I calm down."Can I get ice cream?" I ask."Oh no, you can't. That's not good for you, maybe some rice and chicken?" she asks and I nod. Even though I'm really craving some vanilla ice-cream. Or a frappé maybe? I don't know."Okay then. How many pills do I take?"She places the tiny bo
Scott's POVRoxy and Kye are busy getting to know each other and I watch them as they are discussing about some movie they both have interest in.I wonder if Kyrah is okay. To be honest, I am worried about her.As I walk to the window, I stare outside and I love how the street lights have made the city look so beautiful."The view from up here is quite nice. Breath-taking if I may say," I announce."Lemme come check it out," Roxy says and leaves Kye on the bed."Guys, you both know I can't walk to where you are," he complains and we all share a laugh."It really is beautiful," Roxy emphasises and seconds later my phone rings."It's Kyrah," I say and I look at Roxy."Put her on speaker," she demands and I oblige. The first thing we hear is a high pitched voice. Very annoying. I signal everyone to keep quiet as we listen.*"You see, we had no problem when you weren't all over my
Kyrah's POVAfter the encounter with Sabrina in the hospital, I knew life would never be the same. I didn't expect her to go that far. It's been a week now since I left the hospital but I haven't attended any of my classes although I had Scott and Roxy inform the lecturers what happened. I am usually very cautious when it comes to my attendance. When my parents got to know what happened at the hospital, they had me transfered to another hospital and stayed with me for two days straight. Maeve came over at the hospital and so did Jim and Tyler. They brought me flowers and a get well soon card.Very thoughtful. When I got discharged, Roxy and Scott drove from school everyday just to see me. I wasn't that bubbly as usual and I could tell Scott was still worried. Everyone, was worried. He had this look in his eyes that showed that he was broken, or sad, I just couldn't tell.Today I've decided to go to school since I feel bett
Few minutes later, a call comes in and he punches the answer button on the steering wheel and a masculine voice pops up from the console."Son, how are you doing?" the person asks. It's his dad. I turn to look at Scott who looks very calm as he replies, his eyes still on the road."Very good, sir," he responds."I will be landing a few weeks from now. I was hoping you'd pick me up at the airport?" he asks."Alright, I will, just let me know as soon as you arrive at the airport," Scott says."Okay, and son, I hope everything is fine, the house? Yourself?""Everything is well taken care of dad," he chuckles."That's good," his dad says."Uhm, dad I want you to talk to my best friend," Scott says while trying to hide a smile. My eyes widen up and I shake my head, and mouth a huge NO but then..."Oh, Kye? I heard he got injured," comes his dad's response."Well,
Blake stands there infront of me with his hands in his pockets, eagerly waiting for a reply."Err, maybe another night, am not fully recovered yet... Babe," I hesitate. The last word makes him pull me into a hug, he seems so excited."So now we're a thing, huh?""I guess so." I shrug and he plants a small kiss on my lips and Roxy coughs loudly."Class time!"I turn around and Scott is a couple of inches away from where Roxy is seated. He is walking fast, I wonder why. I then realize they've finished their lunch and I haven't had time to eat anything. I am not that hungry though.Blake gives me one last hug and snakes his arm around my waist as we head to class, Roxy is following us from a distance and when I look back, she winks at me and I giggle."What?" Blake asks."Oh, nothing babe, I'm just excited for our first lecture together that's all."We walk down the hall and for sure, heads ar
