Thank you. The next chapter is in the evening, Singapore Time.
Scarlett was feeling emotional while staring at the front of the Barnes mansion. She took deep breaths, her feet nearly retreating as her fears take over her. Recalling the last time she was here, her parents castigated her for assaulting Courtney and for shaming the name of the Barnes. They never believed her side of the story, claiming that Scarlett was jealous of her adopted sister. It was true, though. She really was jealous. Scarlett should have the love of her parents and not Courtney. She felt she should be the one living a comfortable life and not her fake sister. Not her parent’s fake daughter. But why was her life so pathetic? Despite being the legitimate daughter, she was the one who was cast aside! She felt Courtney was very selfish to silently keep her own biological parents away from her. Greatly, she sucked in a breath. Her eyes closed as she reached for the handles of the massive double doors, and with all her courage, she entered the home. “Scarlett, it’s good
“I now know why I had to lose my best friend Luca.” For a fleeting moment, Luca’s heart ached. ‘She still thought of me as her best friend?’ Hearing Scarlett’s next lines, however, Luca's body stiffened. She said, "It's because... I was meant to be with someone greater." Almost immediately, Luca’s eyes narrowed at Scarlett. He thought, ‘She was meant for someone better? It’s exactly what Courtney said to me. Scarlett never saw me as someone who deserved her... How could she?' To his understanding, Scarlett merely pitied him. There was a time when he became ill. He was never the same again and only Scarlett knew about it. She accepted his marriage proposal because of his connections, his father’s law firm, just so she could achieve her dreams of becoming a successful lawyer. 'She never truly loved me. It was all an act,' Luca reminded himself. Recalling the phone call he made to her a few days back, Luca was taken aback. He never expected a man to answer her mobile. Whoever it wa
“Me? I am not expecting anybody.” Courtney turned to Luca’s curious face, and she shrugged. “Aurora, we are in the middle of a very important discussion,” Cindy reminded. She walked over to the door with her blood still boiling, angered at Scarlett’s earlier announcement. “Misses Barnes, it’s just that he insisted, and he did not look like a simpleton,” Aurora reasoned. Her eyes briefly looked back, as if checking if the visitor followed behind her. “Who is it then?” Courtney inquired. “His name is Kaleb Wright,” Aurora replied, her eyes going to Courtney as if trying to find an answer. “I thought the last name was very familiar.” “Kaleb Wright?” Luca asked. His face could not help but frown following yesterday’s encounter with the man at The Wright Diamond Corporation. He cast Courtney a puzzled look, asking, “And why would he be looking for you, Courtney?” “Um. I’m not sure. Maybe at the gala?” Courtney blushed. She instantly recalled an event that went back four months ago
Scarlett already expected Kaleb to draw attention to her, make Courtney jealous, make her mother contemplate their past decisions about abandoning her and make Luca finally realize that she was over him. What she absolutely did not predict was to be engrossed with an open-mouth kiss right in front of them. Still, she enjoyed it. Who would not? Kaleb was a very good kisser. He was always eager and passionate with his kisses. He made her feel as though she was the only girl he had ever kissed in his entire life! “Mmm.” She moaned into Kaleb’s mouth and ultimately, she pulled away from the heated kiss, her lips easily became numbed. “Scarlett? How was the will reading?” Kaleb purposely asked. He grabbed her hand and turned to face Courtney, Cindy, and Luca. “I hope my girlfriend had a fair share of the properties of the Barnes.” Kaleb turned to Cindy and emphasized, “After all, she is your biological daughter.” Silence stretched between both parties. Cindy paled at what she had ju
“Kaleb - Aaah.” With dreamy eyes, Scarlett suggested, “We - we should really go to the room - Mmmm.” Scarlett was lying on the sofa seat, with Kaleb on top of her. He was kissing her, his hand senselessly massaging her bosom from inside her usual t-shirt dress. His hips ground against her pelvic area, giving her a feel of his hardness. The two had been making out for minutes, and Kaleb was just about ready to receive his reward. Hearing her plea, Kaleb got up and said, “No, kitten. Here is fine. Liam is already asleep. No one can disturb us.” After peeling off her completely, he took off his top, and he grabbed Scarlett’s hand, saying, “My turn to lie down.” Before doing so, Kaleb required, “Take off your sleeping dress, kitten. I want to feel every part of your skin.” Sheepishly, Scarlett did so as he requested. When her eyes landed back on Kaleb, she found him laying on the sofa, his pajamas were already down on the floor. His large rod was springing back and forth, his hand ho
Days passed. “Promise me, you’ll be my mommy,” Liam said before he sipped on his chocolate milkshake. Scarlett and Liam were having an afternoon snack, right after arriving from school. She giggled and casually replied, “Okay.” Diverting Liam’s attention, she read through his math notebook and said, “So, it says here, you talked about problem-solving.” “Yes, it was boring,” said Liam. “My uncle Kyle is good at math.” “Hmmmp.” Scarlett let out a laugh. She asked, “So you learned from your uncle Kyle?” “Yes, and from my cousins, too. Brother Kenneth is really smart,” Liam revealed. “But he is sickly.” “I see. Wonder why we did not get to see them yet.” Scarlett flushed at the thought of meeting more of Kaleb’s family. She was always curious about them. So far, she had only met Kyle. While he looked scary, apparently, he was nice after all. “Sometimes, they come to visit, but most of the time, we meet at the office. There is a playroom there.” A big smile formed on his face whe
“Maybe we shouldn't go. Maybe we should just… stay here,” Kaleb said while his lips grazed over the side of Scarlett’s slender neck. His hand crawled up to her breast, and he cupped it. “You look so smoking hot tonight. I’m afraid every man at the event will try to steal you away from me.” Feeling his hot breath against her neck, Scarlett had goosebumps all over. It took everything within her to smack his hand away, saying, “Behave, Mister Wright. Don’t you forget how your friend has called you several times today.” “Maybe I can stay behind, but you need to attend his birthday party,” Scarlett proposed. “Besides, whatever makes you think I’m that hot?” Looking at her dress, she bit her lip. She sneered and said, “I don’t know about this, Kaleb. I’m not cut out for this. Me and elegant dresses never go hand in hand.” Scarlett was looking at herself in the mirror from inside Kaleb's bedroom. She was wearing a golden-metallic dress that had one shoulder drape sleeve. The gown flowed d
‘Downgrade?’ Scarlett’s eyes rounded. She sucked in a deep breath and puffed. Only then did she turn to Nicole and asked, “So you think a future lawyer is a downgrade to a model?” Scarlett shook her head and said, “Sorry, but in our world, attorneys are more distinguished than models.” She was never one to look down on people. After all, Scarlett was raised in hardship, but her pride itched to fight back. She added, "And what about being different? Strange how I have been hearing that word lately.” Scarlett shrugged and suggested, “If he has not settled down with someone like you, then, maybe different is what Kaleb needs.” “You have some confidence -” “Of course! I’m his girlfriend, not you. I’m the one he holds hand with,” Scarlett countered. “The one he goes home to -” “Goes home to you?” With a scorned expression, Nicole said, “I doubt that. He has a bastard child to home to. I bet he fucks you at a hotel and leaves you there. ” “We live together,” Scarlett shot back, her bo
