“Coffee?” Scarlett said, raising the mug in her hand. She entered Kaleb’s study that afternoon while the man was busy going over some documents. “Thank you, my kitten. Come here,” he said while winking at her. He then urged her to take the seat in front of him. Putting the warm beverage on the desk, Scarlett informed, “Liam is sleeping. He is still tired from yesterday. I thought you didn’t work on Sundays.” “Hmmm.” Kaleb reached for the coffee and replied, “Most times, it can’t be helped, but I at least bring work home. Though, this is not work. I’m reviewing what Archer has planned for taking down your former manager, Miss Cook, at the herbal twist restaurant.” “You are what? You don’t have to - “ “Of course, I do. I’m not letting this go, Scarlett. God knows what would have happened to you if you did not have the courage to kick that man’s balls,” Kaleb responded. He took a sip of his coffee and said, “And no, you can’t make me change my mind. After your manager, I’m going af
Standing in front of the driveway, Scarlett studied her reflection through the glass windows of the Third Diamond Hotel. Seeing how professional she appeared to be, she smiled while turning to Kaleb. She said, “Thank you for the clothes.” That day was Scarlett’s interview at the Longhills and Hogans Associates, the best law firm in the city. So instead of going to Liam’s school, Scarlett would take a mode of private transport, arranged by the hotel. “Good luck, kitten.” Kaleb leaned over and pecked on her lips. Then after, he winked at her and said, “Break a leg… and. You look great.” “Are you guys married now? Can I call you mommy now?” The couple both turned to Liam, smirking in front of them, his arms crossed against his chest. Scarlett turned red at Liam's suggestion and Kaleb answered the boy, “Not yet, son, but as soon as Scarlett passes the board exams, we will make the arrangements.” Dumbfounded, Scarlett turned to Kaleb, but he just chuckled at her, saying, “We talked a
“This way, Scarlett,” Kyle said, pointing to the biggest room on the floor. Scarlett was feeling bashful with the fact that Kaleb’s brother, the CEO of The Wright Diamond Corporation, was walking her to the Vice President’s office. Everyone’s eyes were staring at her, clearly speculating her identity. Eventually, they arrived at the designated room, and then Kyle pointed to the lock, saying, “You can stay in his office while waiting for Kaleb. I already asked my assistant to bring you coffee and treats.”“Um. Thank you, Mister -”“Kyle, you can call me Kyle,” Kaleb’s brother proposed. He repeated to point to the door and suggested, “Open it with your thumb. It has your biometrics saved.”Noticing Scarlett's perplexed expression, Kyle explained, “Yes, it’s a smart digital door lock. While I could open the door for you, it’s best to understand how I am familiar with you. You see, we all know you; by face, and under the name of Beauty." Scarlett was taken aback at the discovery. She cl
“Show it to me again,” Scarlett asked while pouting her lips. Her arms were around Kaleb’s neck as she sat sideways on his lap. “Beg me,” Kaleb suggested while he caressed her arm. The side of his face rested on his fist as he watched Scarlett, so entertained by the fact that her photo was set as his computer home screen. “Please, show me again,” she begged. “If you kiss me, I will,” he replied before a smirk became painted on his face. Scarlett chuckled. She leaned in and pecked on his lips, but Kaleb was quick to put a hand behind her neck. They wound up in an open mouth kiss, their tongues quickly danced together. Repeatedly, moans left their mouths, their lips easily became soaked as they made out. That crisp, smacking sound of their lips quickly became evident, all while their hands became restless. “Ahh!” Scarlett’s breathing hitched. Her eyes turned dreamy as she gazed down to her breast. She was dumbfounded, seeing how Kaleb’s hand made it inside her blouse. ‘When
Scarlett was feeling emotional while staring at the front of the Barnes mansion. She took deep breaths, her feet nearly retreating as her fears take over her. Recalling the last time she was here, her parents castigated her for assaulting Courtney and for shaming the name of the Barnes. They never believed her side of the story, claiming that Scarlett was jealous of her adopted sister. It was true, though. She really was jealous. Scarlett should have the love of her parents and not Courtney. She felt she should be the one living a comfortable life and not her fake sister. Not her parent’s fake daughter. But why was her life so pathetic? Despite being the legitimate daughter, she was the one who was cast aside! She felt Courtney was very selfish to silently keep her own biological parents away from her. Greatly, she sucked in a breath. Her eyes closed as she reached for the handles of the massive double doors, and with all her courage, she entered the home. “Scarlett, it’s good
“I now know why I had to lose my best friend Luca.” For a fleeting moment, Luca’s heart ached. ‘She still thought of me as her best friend?’ Hearing Scarlett’s next lines, however, Luca's body stiffened. She said, "It's because... I was meant to be with someone greater." Almost immediately, Luca’s eyes narrowed at Scarlett. He thought, ‘She was meant for someone better? It’s exactly what Courtney said to me. Scarlett never saw me as someone who deserved her... How could she?' To his understanding, Scarlett merely pitied him. There was a time when he became ill. He was never the same again and only Scarlett knew about it. She accepted his marriage proposal because of his connections, his father’s law firm, just so she could achieve her dreams of becoming a successful lawyer. 'She never truly loved me. It was all an act,' Luca reminded himself. Recalling the phone call he made to her a few days back, Luca was taken aback. He never expected a man to answer her mobile. Whoever it wa
“Me? I am not expecting anybody.” Courtney turned to Luca’s curious face, and she shrugged. “Aurora, we are in the middle of a very important discussion,” Cindy reminded. She walked over to the door with her blood still boiling, angered at Scarlett’s earlier announcement. “Misses Barnes, it’s just that he insisted, and he did not look like a simpleton,” Aurora reasoned. Her eyes briefly looked back, as if checking if the visitor followed behind her. “Who is it then?” Courtney inquired. “His name is Kaleb Wright,” Aurora replied, her eyes going to Courtney as if trying to find an answer. “I thought the last name was very familiar.” “Kaleb Wright?” Luca asked. His face could not help but frown following yesterday’s encounter with the man at The Wright Diamond Corporation. He cast Courtney a puzzled look, asking, “And why would he be looking for you, Courtney?” “Um. I’m not sure. Maybe at the gala?” Courtney blushed. She instantly recalled an event that went back four months ago
Scarlett already expected Kaleb to draw attention to her, make Courtney jealous, make her mother contemplate their past decisions about abandoning her and make Luca finally realize that she was over him. What she absolutely did not predict was to be engrossed with an open-mouth kiss right in front of them. Still, she enjoyed it. Who would not? Kaleb was a very good kisser. He was always eager and passionate with his kisses. He made her feel as though she was the only girl he had ever kissed in his entire life! “Mmm.” She moaned into Kaleb’s mouth and ultimately, she pulled away from the heated kiss, her lips easily became numbed. “Scarlett? How was the will reading?” Kaleb purposely asked. He grabbed her hand and turned to face Courtney, Cindy, and Luca. “I hope my girlfriend had a fair share of the properties of the Barnes.” Kaleb turned to Cindy and emphasized, “After all, she is your biological daughter.” Silence stretched between both parties. Cindy paled at what she had ju
