“LEO!!!”

I rushed to hug the kid, my heart aching at the sight of him. Lyndon and Trevor’s jaws dropped when they saw him too. Lyndon looked devastated, clearly upset about his grandson’s current situation. The kid was very dirty, probably hadn’t taken a proper shower for months. His arms were thin and looked very unhealthy, likely from not having enough food. Leo hugged me back tightly.

“It’s been a while. Where have you been?” I asked excitedly.

Leo started telling stories with the innocence only a child could have. “I went to Fishville to work. Someone asked me to run some errands and in return—” Leo pulled out some money from his pocket and showed it to me with a bright smile. “The kind man gave me 5 bucks. It was honest work and I’m happy about it.”

Leo looked so satisfied and content with his little earnings that it broke my heart. I smiled at his innocence but couldn’t help feeling pity for the poor child. Just then, Trevor approached me from behind and started coughing
