Elaine

I struggled to open my eyes, blinking against the blurriness. Gradually, I focused on the car window where Trevor was waving his hand. I heard gentle taps on the glass.

“Excuse me, ma’am? Are you alright?” he asked. Due to the tinted window, it looked like he didn’t know it was me.

I leaned closer to the window, my vision clearing to reveal Trevor's concerned face. He continued to tap the window, urging me to open it.

“Rolled down your window!” Trevor's voice was insistent, his hands gesturing toward the window button.

“Rolled—it—down!” he repeated slowly.

Finally comprehending, I did what he asked.

“Oh, thank goodness! Are you okay?!” Trevor's eyes widened as he took in my weakened state.

“Elaine? Is it really you? Are you okay? What happened?”

I managed a soft chuckle, turning to face Trevor.

“Trevor! Don’t be so dramatic. I’m alright!” Attempting to lighten the mood, I added, “I’m beginning to think you’re my sort of stalker following me around.”

Trevor sighed and chuckled
