Chapter 27

The darkness of the night enveloped them, their slumberous embrace a sanctuary of love. Alexander's arm cradled Roselyn's waist, his fingers intertwined with hers.

Suddenly, his phone pierced the silence, its shrill ring jolting him awake. He groggily reached for the device, his eyes adjusting to the screen's glow.

The caller ID flashed Ruby's name, and his heart sank.

He swiftly declined the call, hoping to avoid the unwanted conversation. But the phone rang again, its persistence grating on his nerves.

Alexander tried to ignore it, but the ringing continued, relentless.

With a heavy sigh, he carefully extricated himself from Roselyn's embrace, ensuring not to disturb her. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up.

The phone's screen illuminated his face as he walked outside into the chilly night air. The moon cast an eerie glow on the surrounding landscape.

He hesitated for a moment before answering the call.

"Ruby, what do you want?" Alexander's voice was firm but laced with irritation.

Ruby's slurred words tumbled out, her drunken ramblings incoherent. "You left me...for that...Roselyn...she's just using you...you'll regret..."

Alexander's anger simmered, his patience wearing thin. "Ruby, stop. We're over. Move on."

But Ruby's tirade continued, her words laced with venom. "You need to take responsibility...because..." Her sentence hung unfinished, the line going dead.

Alexander's gaze dropped to the screen, his mind reeling with the implications.

Just then, a gentle voice broke the silence.

"Alexander, who was that?" Roselyn stood behind him, her figure swathed in his shirt, the hem grazing her thighs.

Her eyes sparkled with concern, her hair disheveled from sleep.

Alexander's instincts kicked in, shielding his wife from the truth. "Just a work call, nothing important."

Roselyn's gaze lingered, searching for reassurance. Alexander's expression remained neutral, hiding the turmoil brewing within.

"Come back to bed," she whispered, her hand extending.

Alexander's heart swelled with love and guilt. He took her hand, leading her back to their sanctuary, the darkness of the night swallowing the secrets he kept hidden.

They settled back into bed, the softness enveloping them like a warm embrace. Roselyn snuggled into Alexander's side, her head on his chest.

Alexander wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. His mind still reeled from Ruby's call, but Roselyn's presence soothed his frayed nerves.

As they lay there, the silence between them was comforting. Roselyn's gentle breathing lulled Alexander into a state of calm.

He stroked her hair, his fingers tracing the soft strands. Roselyn's eyes fluttered closed, her body relaxing into his touch.

"Love you," she whispered.

"Love you too," Alexander replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

Their lips brushed together in a tender kiss. The world outside receded, leaving only the two of them, lost in their love.

Roselyn's hand drifted across Alexander's chest, her touch sending shivers down his spine.

"You're safe with me," he whispered.

"Always," she replied.

Their love became a shield, protecting them from the turmoil that lurked outside. In each other's arms, they found solace.

As they drifted off to sleep, Alexander's thoughts still lingered on Ruby's call. The revelation she had hinted at weighed heavily on his mind.

But with Roselyn by his side, he felt a sense of resolve. Together, they would face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Their love would be the anchor that held them strong.

The darkness enveloped them, and their hearts beat as one.

Alexander and Roselyn woke up to the sweet songs of birds, their room bathed in the warm glow of sunrise. They stretched, yawned, and exchanged loving smiles.

After a leisurely breakfast, they set out to explore the surrounding woods, hand in hand. The scent of wildflowers and fresh earth filled the air as they strolled along the winding trail.

The sound of rushing water grew louder, and soon they caught sight of a majestic waterfall. Its misty veil surrounded them, refreshing their skin.

Roselyn's eyes sparkled with wonder. "It's incredible!"

Alexander wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. "You're the true beauty that captivates me."

They spent hours basking in the waterfall's splendor, taking turns swimming in the natural pool, and laughing together.

As their thirst for adventure grew, they embarked on a mountain hike, eager to witness the sunset from the summit. The ascent was challenging, but their love fueled their determination.

They paused frequently to admire the panoramic views and steal kisses. Atop the mountain, they found a secluded spot to watch the sunset.

The sky transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors, a breathtaking canvas of pinks, oranges, and purples. Roselyn snuggled into Alexander's side. "I feel like I'm in a dream."

Alexander's arms enveloped her. "With you, every moment is a treasure."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, they shared a tender kiss, and the world bathed in golden light.

The next morning, they began with a leisurely boat ride across a serene lake. The gentle lapping of the water against the shore created a soothing melody.

Roselyn leaned back against Alexander, her eyes closed. "I'm grateful for this time together."

Alexander's lips brushed against her ear. "Me too, my love."

They drifted to a secluded cove, where they picnicked on a blanket spread beneath a willow tree.

After lunch, they strolled through a nearby meadow, laughing and chasing after butterflies.

As the sun began to set once more, they settled on a hillside, watching the stars twinkle in the evening sky.

Their escape had been a symphony of laughter, adventure, and love.

As they packed to leave, Roselyn turned to Alexander, her eyes shining. "This has been the most enchanting experience of my life."

Alexander's heart swollen. "Mine too, Roselyn. Forever with you."

Their love had grown stronger amidst nature's splendor, a flame that would burn brightly long after they returned home.

In this idyllic setting, they had rediscovered each other, their bond deepening with every passing moment.

Alexander and Roselyn knew that their love would continue to flourish, nurtured by the memories of their enchanting getaway.

Alexander and Roselyn relaxed at home, enjoying a quiet evening together. She expertly prepared dinner in the kitchen while he sat in the living room, watching her with adoration.

The warm kitchen lights illuminated Roselyn's face, highlighting her concentration.

Alexander's gaze drifted to the TV, but his attention remained on Roselyn, listening to her humming.

Suddenly, his phone rang, piercing the tranquil atmosphere. He glanced at the screen—Tyler.

Alexander hesitated before answering, not wanting to disturb the peaceful evening.

"Tyler, what's up?" Alexander said, getting up and walking to the window.

Roselyn looked up, curiosity sparking.

"Alexander, we've received confirmation from the French delicats," Tyler began. "They're impressed with our proposal and want to meet in person to finalize the deal."

Alexander's interest piqued; he turned away.

"They're celebrating their 100th anniversary and invite you to visit their Paris office," Tyler explained. "They want to discuss the partnership and seal the agreement."

Alexander's mind racing, he paced near the window.

"When do they want me to come?" he asked.

"In two days. They've arranged a private meeting and a tour," Tyler replied. "You'll be their guest of honor at the anniversary gala."

Alexander's eyes widened.

"Okay, I'll make arrangements. Keep me updated," he instructed before ending the call.

Alexander turned to Roselyn, thoughtful.

"What's wrong?" Roselyn asked.

Alexander took a deep breath. "I need to go to Paris in two days. The French delicats want to meet."

Roselyn's eyes widened. "So soon?"

Alexander nodded. "It's a game-changer."

Roselyn's face lit up. "You deserve it. I'll help you prepare."

After savoring the delicious dinner Roselyn had prepared, they decided to head to the mansion. The evening air was crisp, carrying the scent of pine and wildflowers.

Alexander helped Roselyn with her coat, his hands lingering on her shoulders.

"Ready to leave?" he asked.

Roselyn smiled. "Yes, I'm excited to get back to the mansion."

They stepped out of the cozy forest house and walked towards their car, parked in the driveway. The night sky twinkled above, stars shining like diamonds.

Alexander opened the passenger door for Roselyn, then slid into the driver's seat. The engine purred to life as he started the car.

As they pulled away from the forest house, the trees seemed to fade into the darkness, their branches swaying gently in the rearview mirror.

The winding road unwound before them, leading them back to civilization. Alexander's hand found Roselyn's, their fingers intertwining.

"We'll have to prepare for Paris," Alexander said.

Roselyn nodded. "I'll help you pack."

Their voices filled the car, accompanied by the soft hum of the engine.

As they approached the mansion, its grandeur came into view. Windows glowed warmly, welcoming them home.

Alexander pulled into the driveway, parking in front of the mansion's imposing facade.

Together, they stepped out of the car and into the mansion.

Alexander dialed Tyler's number, eager to plan a surprise for Roselyn before his Paris departure.

"Tyler," Alexander said, his voice firm but friendly.

"Alexander, what's up?" Tyler replied.

"Book a movie theater for me and my wife," Alexander instructed.

"Okay, but why?" Tyler asked, curiosity creeping into his tone.

"I want to spend some quality time with Roselyn before I leave for Paris," Alexander explained.

"Got it. Which type of movie would she like?" Tyler inquired.

Alexander paused, thinking. "No fantasy movies, just any romantic movie."

"Okay, boss," Tyler said. "And which seats would you prefer?"

Alexander's response was emphatic. "Book the entire theater. I want to spend time alone with her. My wife loves watching movies."

There was a brief pause before Tyler responded, "Understood, boss. I'll make the arrangements."

"Make sure it's a private screening," Alexander reiterated.

"Yes, sir. Consider it done," Tyler assured.

Alexander ended the call, satisfied with the plan.

Next, he approached Roselyn, a sly smile spreading across his face.

"Hey, love. I have a surprise for you," Alexander said, his eyes sparkling.

Roselyn's curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

Alexander chuckled. "You'll find out soon enough."

The movie credits rolled, and Alexander's face fell, anticipating Roselyn's disappointment. He had specifically requested a romantic movie, but Tyler had booked Harry Potter instead.

Alexander dialed Tyler's number, his pace quickening while walking out of the theater with Roselyn trailing behind him.

"Tyler, what were you thinking?" Alexander demanded. "Harry Potter? Who watches Harry Potter on a movie date? I won't leave you; you ruined all my plans."

Tyler's apologetic voice filtered through the line. "But boss, only this movie was available on such short notice. It's not my fault."

Alexander's frustration boiled over. "But HARRY POTTER! Seriously?" he almost shouted.

A melodious laugh echoed through the night air. Alexander spun around, surprised to see Roselyn's beautiful face alight with amusement.

He paused, confusion etched on his face. Why was she laughing?

He hastily ended the call, eyes locked on Roselyn's. "Is this your way of telling me I failed to impress you?"

Roselyn smiled. "The Alexander Valtor can also be embarrassed?"

Alexander's contempt was palpable. "I'm sorry, Roselyn. I told Tyler specifically, but he booked this movie. I'm very sorry for ruining your evening."

Roselyn's expression softened. "I enjoyed the movie, Alexander."

Alexander's eyes widened. "What? But you don't like fantasy movies."

Roselyn smiled. "I don't like fantasy movies, but I love Harry Potter."

Gratitude washed over Alexander's face. "You're not angry."

Roselyn shook her head. "No, Alexander."

Alexander swept her into a tight hug, lips brushing against her forehead. "Thank you."

Alexander whispered, "Wingardiumlevioosaa," while walking.

Roselyn laughed. "It's not Wingardium levioosa... it's Wingardium leviosa... leviosa."

Alexander chuckled. "So you think you're Hermione Granger?"

Roselyn retorted, "And you think you're Harry Potter?"

Alexander grinned. "No, I'd be Ronald Weasley."

Roselyn smiled. "Shut up, Malfoy."

Their laughter filled the night air.

They entered the mansion, and Roselyn's demeanor shifted, the evening's carefree atmosphere dissipating.

Victoria paced back and forth in her dimly lit room, her frustration and anxiety palpable. She clutched her phone tightly, her voice firm but laced with desperation.

"Victoria: My capacity to bear it is over now. You're the only one who can throw that girl out of Alexander's life," she implored.

The person on the other end remained calm and collected. "It will be as you want, Aunty."

Victoria's words spilled out in a rush. "Do whatever you want, but I cannot tolerate that girl anymore. She's a poison in our family, and I won't stand for it."

The voice reassured her, "I am the only one worthy of your son. Don't worry, Alexander will divorce her himself."

Victoria's face relaxed into a calculating smile as she hung up the call. Her eyes gleamed with determination.

Just then, Alexander entered the room, concern etched on his face. "Mom, you haven't slept yet."
