Chapter 43 - Alex

I pace back and forth beside my bed. 

I had tried to go to sleep earlier, but I couldn’t stop worrying about David.  He always calls and tells me when he is going to be late. 

I run my hand through my hair and sigh.

Did Kai tell him about the girl earlier?  Is David mad at me?  What am I going to do to make him come back to me? 

I grab the clock off the nightstand. 

Shit.  It is late.  Where is he? 

I suddenly stop when I hear a faint noise. 

Is he home?

I slam the clock back down on the nightstand and swirl around.  I dash towards the door, but in my haste, I slam my toe against the corner of the bed. 

“OWWWWW!!!!!”

I fall onto the bed as tears well up in my eyes.  I cradle my foot in my hands as I rock back and forth. 

Damn it.  I think I broke my toe.
