Chapter 109 Returning a Favor

"They messed with my flowers! How can I do nothing?! Of course I had to see who was causing trouble!" the old man said irritably, still pained by the destruction of his blue poppy.

"Did you see what the person looked like?" Melanie asked, pressing on.

"What if I did? I don't know them, and I'm not a cop," the old man replied, giving her a side glance. "Aren't you still alive? I hope this teaches you to be more cautious in the future!"

Melanie retorted, "I had a feeling it was a trap..."

"And yet you still jumped? How utterly foolish!" the old man mocked.

"But it was urgent, and no one else was around. If the person was really drowning and I didn't help, they would have died," Melanie earnestly explained.

The old man smirked. "No one else around? What about me?"

"Would you have helped him?" Melanie asked.

"No way! If he ruined my flowers, I'd happily watch him drown!" the old man said stubbornly.

Melanie sighed. Talking to this old man was like talking to a wall.
