Emma's POV

Midway, the conversation suddenly shifted to me. My mother asked, “We heard about the scandal. We were so worried! Good thing Draven had your back or else you would have been wrongly accused.”

Draven replied, “I did not do anything. Emma was innocent, truth would have come out one way or another.”

“No, Draven. You are just being humble.” He said, “You have taken good care of Emma and we are thankful for it. We could not ask for a better son-in-law.”

I clenched my fist, how could they lie so well?

Draven let out a small smile and did not say anything.

The housekeeper notified us that the lunch was ready. As soon as I looked at the antique dining table which has been in this family for several generations now, I was reminded of my childhood. In this large table which could accommodate 16 people, I would be asked to sit on the farthest chair. While my parents and Erold would be enjoying their meal like a happy family, I would be made to eat in the cold corner.
