Nevaeh
“Hello, luv. How is this git treating my favorite girl?”
I smile at Azazel’s comment. He loves messing with Mikhail. I can see that there’s a genuine friendship between both men, and it makes my heart melt. Mikhail told me about Azazel and his father’s history, and I was blown away by Azazel’s devotion after so long. Knowing that he and Mikhail are now friends makes my heart flutter with happiness that Mikhail has Azazel’s friendship.
Tonight, we’re at Azazel’s club, The Garden of Eden, having some fun. Azazel invited us to a private party on his rooftop for drinks and food. The party is located on his rooftop with a gorgeous view of the city.
I laugh as Azazel and Mikhail banter with each other. They act more like brothers than Rowan and Mikhail, which is funny because Azazel is hundreds of years old. At the sound of Azazel’s comment, Mikhail gives him a killing glare. “Act
Chapter 24 - Ignited by her touchMikhailWe’re in literature class right now watching Romeo and Juliet. Nevaeh and I are sitting in the back of the classroom, enjoying our closeness. My heart stutters with every touch of her fingers against mine, and my mind is running a mile a minute. I can’t stop thinking about finding a private spot to release some of our pent-up stress. I can tell she’s thinking the same thing because she gives me a heated smile when I look at her. Unable to take another moment, I take her hand and slide it beneath my arm. “Quit teasing me, princess,” I mumble softly.Over the past few weeks, we’ve settled comfortably together as a couple. We go to school together, eat together, make love, argue, and make love again. It’s amazing.I also had to tell Alex about Azazel. I mean, if Azazel was going to be part of my life, Alex needed to know. He didn’t seem happy about our friendship. But a
NevaehI can’t believe this is happening. Mikhail just asked Azazel to mark me. I don’t know what to feel. Azazel clears his throat, startling me from my panicked thoughts. “How about we go into my study.”Swallowing hard, I look at him and wave my hand nervously. He doesn’t smile, which only heightens my anxiety. His eyes are distant, and his body is stiff. However, I can’t stop looking at his brooding features. He is so beautiful with his golden looks, broad shoulders, and angelic face that I’m floored. It’s difficult to think of him being a demon, considering how gorgeous he is. I mean, come on, books always describe demons as being ugly with hooves and horns. Azazel is none of those things.Somewhere in the recesses of my mind, I can admit that I feel something for him. But it doesn’t compare to what I feel for Mikhail. I love Mikhail with a passion that exceeds anything in the world. With Azazel
MikhailAfter leaving Azazel and Nevaeh, I fly around the sky, hoping that the ache in my heart would subside. Even though I try, my mind won’t stop thinking about what’s transpiring between my best friend and the love of my life. The only thing I know right now is that Azazel is risking a great deal for me. Not just because he’s risking the Council’s ire, but because a mating mark is sacred, and it’s probably difficult for him to give it to Nevaeh knowing that his mate might be out there. He might love Nevaeh but giving her the mating mark is on a whole other level of intimacy that he wouldn’t share with just anyone. After an hour has passed, I fly back to the loft and prepare to face Azazel and Nevaeh. Azazel is at the bar, pouring himself a drink. As soon as he hears my footsteps, he turns around and waves the bottle in my direction. I shake my head, declining the offer. I’m not much of a drinker. It’s pointless, consi
Chapter 27 - The past that haunts usNevaehI don’t know where I’m heading, but I can’t stay there any longer. How dare he do this to me? I was fine without him. Tears fall down my face, and sobs collect in my throat as I rush through the mall’s floors. Once I’m a good distance away, I stop near the exit door and lean on a nearby wall. When I open my eyes, I see Azazel standing before me. Without a word, he pulls me into his arms. “I hate him. I hate him so much.” I say through my tears. Azazel hums as he comfortingly rubs my back. He’s such a good friend. After a moment, Azazel releases me and pushes me into Mikhail’s arms. Wrapping my arms around Mikhail, I embrace him tightly and kiss his chin.“It’s alright, princess. Let it out. You know that I’m here for you always. We’re here for you.” He gestures toward Azazel, who winks saucily. &
Mikhail“Azazel, what are you doing here?” I ask.Azazel’s lips tighten into slits as he gazes around cagily. “We have a problem, mate. Have you seen the news?”I shake my head. “No, why?”Sighing, Azazel walks to the living room and turns on the Television. A nondescript news anchor appears on the screen. Today on the news, a local boy, Travis Gentry, was found strangled in a garbage can near an uptown club. Travis Gentry was a football cornerback for the Arcata High Angels. Right now, the local police are calling for foul play. However, in a bizarre turn of events, witnesses have stepped up to say that Mr. Gentry was killed by a winged creature. We join you live with Jane Carlson at the club Garden of Eden…My brow furrows with confusion as I listen to the report. Travis is dead. I can’t believe it. I turn to Azazel and Alex, who are giving me an odd look. “What are you looking
Chapter 29 - I can’t lose this loveNevaehI cling to Azazel as I helplessly watch the Council’s men take Mikhail away. My eyes blur with tears as I watch the holding van disappear in the distance. Azazel holds me tighter and makes soothing sounds in hopes of assuaging my tears. But there’s nothing that can make take away my despair other than having Mikhail back in my arms.“It’s alright, luv. I promise you, we’ll find a way to save him. Please, just stop crying. It makes me feel like a right foul git when you cry. I’m sure that Mikhail would not be happy to know that you’ve given up on him.”His words pierce my sadness. He’s right. Mikhail would not be happy to know that I’ve broken down like a coward. If only for my own sanity, I have to believe that he’ll make it out of this situation unscathed. I swallow down my tears as I try to gain control of my emotions. I need to be strong f
MikhailThe back of the holding truck grumbles across the road, shifting and swaying at a nearly hypnotic pace. The Council uses the trucks to transport Council offenders. Sitting across from me on one of the benches is Gadriel. Corbin is driving the vehicle, and Lukan is sitting next to me. I resist the urge to strike out when I see the self-satisfied smirk on Lukan’s face. The bastard is finally getting what he has always wanted─ to get rid of me.My mind wanders back to Nevaeh and how sad she looked as I was being taken away. I’m glad that I asked Azazel to mark her because now she’s safe. Gadriel’s cell phone rings as the van tracks through the streets. He gives us both a wary look as he moves to the other side of the van and answers the call. I can tell that he doesn’t like the idea of leaving me alone with Lukan. He might not know why Lukan has such animosity toward me, but I’m sure he can sense that something is not right.
NevaehAs soon as I walk through my front door, I frown. The foyer is empty. I look around the living room and kitchen, but Jez’ not there either. “Jez, I’m here; where are you?” I call out as I make my way back to the foyer, but there’s still no response. She’s probably looking at her hair in the bathroom or something. I think to myself as I make my way up the stairs. Once I reach my room, I nearly jump out of my skin when I spot a figure on my bed. Unfortunately, it’s not Jez.“Ponyboy, what are you doing here? Are you with Jez?” I ask nervously. What the hell is Ponyboy doing on my bed? Aaron tosses something around with his hands as he sits up from his seat. I look around in hopes that Jez is here, but she’s nowhere in sight. “Where’s Jez?” I ask firmly.Ponyboy snickers in reply as he makes his way to me. Something about his expression makes me
Samael I watch as Galena and our baby rush through the secret door with trepidation before I close it behind them. Turning back, I prepare to fight whoever is rushing up the stairs. It sounds like a stampede of bulls is heading in my direction. Letting my demon loose, I let my eyes change into their icy color, extend my claws, and release my fangs. My body swells with power as rage courses through me. As soon as the door bursts open, I fight. A group of hellhounds burst through the doors, their claws out as they begin to slash. Using my sword skills, I tear through their bodies, slicing their heads and limbs, but they keep coming.&nb
Galena I gaze down into my son’s beautiful cherubic face. He looks so much like Samael with his ebony hair and eyes. As I caress his tiny fingers, a smile spreads across my face. “You’re perfect, my little Azrael.” “Yes, he is, isn’t he.” Samael’s arms wrap around my waist as he pulls me close to his chest, and his lips lay gentle kisses on my naked shoulder as our son continues to suckle on my breast. “He’s as perfect as his mother.” I angle my head and face my mate. We’ve only been together for a couple of years, but I’ve never been so happy. That night at the warehouse when Samael saved me was the best night of my life. For years, I thought I’d
“I told you the thing was a piece of rubbish.” My best mate, Azazel, mutters when the vehicle’s engine fails for the millionth time today. We’ve been working on rebuilding this vehicle for months, and the bloody thing won’t start. Reaching for a towel, I wipe the oil from my hands. “You need to stop being so negative, mate. It will start. We just need to continue working. Rome wasn’t built in a bloody day, you git.” Azazel quirks a cynical brow. “Alright, I’ll trust you, but I’m not going to the auto shop for that distributor cap. It’s your bleeding turn.” I roll my eyes. &ldqu
Azazel “What do you think?” My best mate, Samael, gestures to what I’m sure was once a magnificent muscle car. However, as I look at the vehicle’s unfinished exterior, vent frame, and empty trunk, I can see that its glory days are long gone. “I think you should get all of your quids back, mate. This…thing is not meant to be taken on the road.” Samael’s lip quirks with bemusement. His dark hair brushes his shoulders, and his obsidian eyes gleam with excitement. “Bloody hell, Azazel, have some vision. After we’re done fixing it, this vehicle will purr like a kitten.” I give him a s
Nevaeh I’m nervous. I don’t know why, but I am. I look at Mihail, who is slumped down comfortably in his chair and roll my eyes. Of course, he’s not nervous. I swear my boyfriend is made of steel. He gives me a crooked smile as he takes my hand and pulls me into his embrace. “Don’t worry, princess, we’ll do great.” I shake my head. “Why aren’t you nervous? You do know that this presentation is a big part of our grade, right?” Mikhail nods his head. “I know, but you’ll do fine. I mean, we’ve practiced every day this week. And some of those practices were really
Mikhail “You suck at this!” I tell Rowan as he clicks a couple of buttons in his console controller. Rowan scowls in reply. “It’s only because you're cheating, bro.” I roll my eyes and press a button to finally annihilate him. “What the hell, Khail!” He cries out grumpily. “I would have had you.” I shake my head and open my lips to respond, but before I can, Alex steps into the living room and looks at both of us. “Are you two done here? Because I have some good news.”&n
Mikhail Rowan and I shift in our seats impatiently as we wait for someone to speak to us. I look at Rowan, who moves closer to me. We’ve been living alone in our abandoned school bus for a while and were hustling money from people on the streets until one of the Council’s officers caught us and took us to one of the group homes. The Council members were not very happy to find out that I was a Hybrid. After reading Rowan’s book on Supernaturals and living on the streets for so long, I learned a lot about what I am. One being that Hybrids are not accepted in the Supernatural world. There aren’t many of us. In fact, I think I’m the only one of my species, and it seems that being a demon and angel hybrid is the worst you can be. In fact, when I went before the Council judge, the Council was debating whether or not I should be terminated. It has definitely been a crappy cou
Hybrid Bonus Chapter 43 - Khail meets RowanMikhail I don’t know where I’m going, but I couldn’t stay there anymore. My body aches, reminding me of the beating I took from my foster father days ago. Lifting my shirt, I take a look at my back, using the reflection from a nearby window to check my wounds. My winged tattoos glow like beacons on my back, and any sign of damage is gone. This all began when wings sprouted from my tattoos. I don’t understand where the tattoos or the wings came from, but it scared my foster father enough to pray while he tried to cut them off. My body shudders at the memory. He called me evil and told me I was sent from hell as he cut them off, then proceeded to use his belt against my sensitive skin. As I rush through the grimy alleys, I ignore any residual
Nevaeh “Ugh, I’m so glad we’re done moving everything in,” Mikhail puffs out a breath as he slumps on the bed beside me. I look around our small apartment and all of the boxes that need to be unpacked and quirk an amused brow. “It’s not like you weren’t strong enough to carry the boxes in. But I’m too tired to finish unpacking. I’ll do it tomorrow.” After my father sold the house, Azazel offered us the use of one of his apartment lofts, which we readily accepted. At first, I was hesitant about moving in with Mikhail because I felt that we were moving too swiftly, but I quickly realized that we’re soulmates. We’re meant to be together, and I love him beyond re
