Grandma Keira

When Mane awakened, Keira was asleep in a chair next to his bed. She was an Ascender Mane couldn’t see through, so it was impossible for her to feel fatigue on a normal basis. If she was asleep then it meant she had done so from worry. Mane smiled involuntarily upon seeing this. The warmth she gave him was similar to his mother’s warmth, but slightly different.

If Alexis was like a bright sun that illuminated the darkness in Mane’s life, Keira was the moon that replaced the sun when the darkness became too intense to be taken lightly. Initially it was awkward for Mane to think of her as his grandmother. Although he felt close to her, calling her grandmother left a sour taste in his mouth. It had always been an issue with familiarity; however, this issue had been bridged with a snort-filled reunion and now Mane could see her to who she really was to him. Now, it wasn’t only his blood that drew him to her; his heart was eager to stay with her as well.
