“To think you’d abandon your blade,” Asherah chuckled as she stared into the eyes of the man she had once revered above everyone and everything else. Looking at her foot which had been blocked by Old Fan’s forearm, Asherah was reminded once more how much his fighting style had changed. The indomitable warrior who neither retreated nor surrendered was now an old man capable of giving up his blade to stop an attack. This was surreal coming from the man who had taught her that to abandon one’s weapon was the greatest disgrace of a swordsman.“Well, I grew up,” Old Fan chuckled, secretly surprised by the strength contained in that kick. Asherah stared at Old fan coldly, her eyes completely devoid of the respect that she had been showing him all this while. He may have betrayed her and hurt her deeply with his actions, but even then her respect for him remained. Even if he stabbed a dagger through her chest, her respect for him will still remain. She may not agree with his methods or his current goals, but he was still someone who had taught her the way of the sword. He was her only master, and a man she had looked up to as a father figure. His large heart had opened up to her even though there was no reason to serve the race of his enemy. Even with Durandal and Caliburn crossed before him, the power that had crashed into him was not easy to control.“That was just a palm?” Old Fan thought in surprise, staring at the transformed Asherah who was slowly withdrawing her palm. Indeed, she had merely thrown a palm at Old Fan. She had met her swords with her flesh, yet her skin remained in good condition and there was not a single injury to be found.“No wonder Pazuzu wanted her so badly. With this level of physical capability, the greatest weakness of Wind Demons can be voided. If he is able to mate with her, he can create a species of the same level as the strongest God Clans there are.” Old Fan sighed, comprehending fully Pazuzu’s obsession with Asherah.Asura was an ancient power with no origins or clear understanding. “That old fool!” Chief Priest Kaka gnarled in rage when he saw Asherah clutching onto Old Fan’s corpse. The golden goose he had been hoping to reap many benefits from had died to a mere Wind Demon of Asherah’s calibre. There was no pain and remorse seeing the death of a lifelong friend. All Chief Priest Kaka felt was anger and disappointment. Anger that Old Fan had died earlier than he thought he would, and disappointment that he hadn’t died to the great general or to the king, but to a mere Wind Demon whose only redeeming factor was the king’s interest in her. His sentiments meant that he had no idea what Asherah’s secret was; for if he had known she was an Asura, his greed for her would have gone beyond anything else, and he would have accepted Old Fan’s death as the work of a powerful being.“Get away from him,” Chief Priest Kaka gnashed his teeth as he moved towards Asherah’s position.
