Scares and tears

“Mom, he was here,” I cry, still lying down with my back to the door. “I screwed up again, Mom. I didn't want to hurt him but as always, I screwed it up.” I sniffle. “When will I stop hurting people?”

I feel a weight as my bed sinks and strong arms hug me from behind.

“You didn't mess anything up.” The deep voice makes me shiver and scares me at the same time.

“Hunter?” I speak, not believing. “How... how...”

“Shh.”

“I... How...” My head is boiling so much that I can’t finish a sentence and the crying again ignites. I am mortified to cry like a little girl in front of Hunter.

“Calm down, I'm here.” His voice is like a whisper.

I arch my back in pain.

“Ouch ouch ouch Hunter!” I exclaim, panting as something hot drips onto the mattress.

“Selena!” He releases, exasperated to see blood on the mattress.

Oh shit, not again... My little surprises!

“Grab a towel from the bathroom and my bag from behind the door,” I order.

I hear Hunter crashing through the still unknown house. I get up slow
