The car came to a halt, and I felt my body roll into another person beside me. For what I’d assumed was hours, an eternity in the feeling, I had been stuck in a car’s boot. Screaming at the top of my lungs, begging for my freedom. My step father’s image was plastered on my head, anger and heartbreak rested within me. What would my mom think? How would he explain this? How was he going to play off that he had sold me.
“The sooner you stopped screaming, the better.’’ The voice, which I'd learned belonged to a woman stuck in the boot with me, spoke effortlessly.
“I don't understand how a person can do this? You don’t just buy people. That’s wrong.’’ I argued, feeling rather suffocated. The car’s weight shifted, indicating that someone had alighted. I held my hands up in fits, trying to hit the roof of the boot, but I only ended up hurting my knuckles. There was nothing I could do. Both my hands were tied at the wrists with rope, and the only thing free were my feet, yet, cramped in a small space, I could hardly move or see anything.
Tears trickled down my cheeks. My mother’s voice rang in my head, acting as a haunting melody to the catastrophic situation my step father had gotten me in.
Suddenly, several voices echo from outside the car, right before the boot is lifted open and a sharp light invades my eyes. I grunt as I try to look up, blocking the light with my restrained hands.
“Alright, get out!’’ The command came from a rough, hoarse voice of the large muscular man shining a torch at us.
I felt rough hands grip my ankles, pulling me out of the car fiercely. My feet hit the ground before my body did, causing me to fall painfully on the cold concrete floor.
I gasped, cursing at the pain on my bruised knee. I look up, only to see another figure of a man standing at my side, staring down at me with an evil smile.
“These new ones?’’ he let out with a coughed laugh.
“Yeah, the king bought them today.’’ the man with a torch answered as he stared down at me.
“Get up.’’ He let out, flashing a crooked smile at me.
There was a girl standing infront of him, the one who had been stuck in the car with me.
“This is not right! I want to go home.’’ I cried out, only to be met with hearty laughter and a rough grip on my hair, yanking me forward. I steadied my feet as I winced in pain, hating the way he touched me.
I was pushed towards the other girl standing beside me, right before we were ushered in a different direction.
“Please let us go. I promise I'm not going to tell anyone. you won't even hear from me again.” I tried to plead with them but my words only fell on deaf ears. All they did was laugh as they pushed us around.
The compound seemed bigger than I had expected, not to start anything to begin with. This was a nightmare for everyone. No one wishes to be captured and sold by their stepfather, or to be bought by a horrible man who believed that women were commodities.
“The sooner you accept that you cannot get away from here, the better it will be for you.’’ The girl walking beside me spoke in a low tone as she bowed her head and continued working. She surprisingly came through this entire thing, and unlike me who wanted to scream out and yell at the top of my lungs.
“I don't want to be here. this is not right.’’
“Where do you come from? What makes you think that this world right here is right? There is no right or wrong here; only what men with our want to do.’’
I felt a hand on my lower back, causing me to flinch and move forward. The men behind us laughed, cheering at each other, as they pointed at the both of us. I hated the attention. I hated their crude behavior and how they treated us.
“My mother is going to be looking for me. You need to let me go right now.’’
“Quit it!’’ the big man exclained, his temper seeming to get the better of him. I looked around, trying to take in my surroundings, and trying to see what I could do for myself and how I could get myself out of this situation. We were in what I would presume was a mansion, or a palace of some sort, because the compound itself could be habitat for fifty or more big houses. There were lights shining on the entire compound so brightly, displaying more like a prison in the night. I wondered where we were, or if we were in the state anymore to begin with. We had been stuck in that car for a really long time. And now that it was already dark I couldn't help but feel that we've been traveling for hours.
How did my life end up like this?
We were brought to a large building in the middle of the compound, surrounded by a separate fence. They opened the gates with a combination pressed into the locks, making it beep and turn a green light. Inside was nothing but peak silence, only the sounds of gruff footsteps echoed on the cold floor as the men followed behind us.
We were ushered into a different room, taking a straight corner from the hallway before we were suddenly thrown into the darkness. We fell on what I would presume was a carpeted floor, as we turned back to the men. I couldn't stop myself from crying. A dreadful feeling sat at the bottom of my stomach as I struggled to get up despite the dizziness that I felt. How could people be this heartless? Why would they do this?
“Welcome to your new home, ladies.’’ The man said, as he flashed the torch light at my eyes again, almost blinding me. In my head, I could hear more heartbeats. It was as if we were not alone in the room.
“No. Please, don’t do this!’’ I begged as I ran towards him, only to be pushed back down effortlessly.
“You better get used to it and learn how to behave. Here, you have been stripped of your status and are nothing but slaves. Breeding machines for the soon-to-be Alpha and King Jordan Luther. Get acquainted with each other and learn your duties. The sooner you accept this, the easier it will be for you all.”
The door was slammed shut right after, leaving us in utter darkness, with an echo of those damning words that felt like a death sentence.
Suddenly, there was shuffling of feet and warm grabby hands wrapped around my body, dragging me against the floor. I tried to scream but my hand was placed on my mouth and it was silent. A sharp light invaded my eyes as I looked up, noticing that the lights just went on.
“Is she okay?’’ A soft voice echoed as the hands holding me down slowly departed from my body. I pulled myself up, posting my body with my arms before the sudden realization that someone had and tied with. I look around in shock, feeling my eyes and my mouth falling again. We were not the only ones here. In front of me were three different girls, all dressed in white sleeping gowns and red hair.
“Are you okay?’’ One of the girls asked me as she stepped forward. I turned around, looking at the other girl who was killed on the floor before realizing that she must have been the person who I came with. And to the others, she was the only one who wasn't wearing a white gown just like me.
“Are you okay?’’ She repeated again, her voice fraining with concern, “Are you hurt?’’
“No. No.’’ The girl at my side spoke, as she stepped forward. “We’re fine.’’
“But she's bleeding.’’ one of them pointed at my leg.
I watched as they moved quickly, I clutched my knees, feeling the stinging pain, as I tried to wipe the blood off with my sweater. “ I fell. But it’s all healed now.’’ I spoke with a smile, showing them the healed spot. They let out a sigh of relief. One of the girls smiled as she reached out to me, touching me gently as she brought me to a big bed in the middle of the room.
Suddenly, there was a loud sound of banging against the doors outside, and a whistle being blown.
“Come on! Come on!’’
I watched the girls in the room all get excited, straightening hairdressers in the mood to stand in front of the door. The girl that I came with stared at me with confusion as we stared back at them.
'What's going on?’’ I asked.
“Oh, it’s time for our weekly run.” One answered with enthusiasm, “The master allows us one day a week to run free in our natural forms to our heart’s desire. Isn’t he so kind!’’
I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. The doors were suddenly open, right before the sharp sound of bones snapping and screams of horror and pain echoed in the bedroom. I watched as the four redheads, seeming to move in similar motion, transformed into wolves.
I had never seen it before. My mother has never told me much about it or how it would happen. It was a topic she greatly avoided.
I have always imagined it to be something magical. The moment a werewolf would allow their wolf self to take control instead of suppressing it. My mother had kept me on a bunch of medications ever since I was a kid to suppress that part of me. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I stopped taking them behind her back.
“Well, what are you guys waiting for?’’ the man standing across the door said as he pointed at the both of us.
Without wasting time the girl beside me began to transform. she took off her sweater and then her shirt and she fell to her knees. I watched with horror as her fingers and toes were replaced with paws. Fur grew from her pores and her facial features were replaced with that of a full grown wolf. Unlike the other girls, she didn't even let out a sound as she transformed. Her pants fell from her body like shedding skin. All eyes were turned to me and I couldn't help but look at them with confusion and fear.
How was I going to tell them that even though I was a wolf, I couldn't transform?
OLIVIAThe second we were behind closed doors, the entire atmosphere became thick."How dare you?!" he spoke with a high tone as he approached me. "Why did you embarrass me back there?" I looked up at him. ‘'What do you mean? I was just as embarrassed as you are.’'‘'Cut the crap! You knew exactly what you were doing. You both did.'’ he shouted." Tell me something, is this some sick joke you both cooked up to humiliate me on National TV?'’ My eyes widened, as I stared at him. "I don't know what you're talking about."I walk towards the bed as I begin to take off my shoes. "He insulted our marriage, and you had the nerve to flirt with him?""Flirt with him? I did no such thing.’'"Don't play me for a fool Olivia. I saw the way you looked at him. The way you let him touch you.""You're crazy!""Are you planning to sleep with him again?" I stopped in my tracks. A sense of dread washed over me as the memory set in. I felt a tear almost sliding down but I held my ground. "I don't care
GALENPlowing through the crowd and acting happy was a piece of cake. "Yes, I totally agree. I’ll talk to my father about it and we’ll see what our company can do." I smiled, as I held my wife’s hand. I guided her away from Mrs Shirley, feeling exhausted. "And who was that?" "No one you should concern yourself with." I smiled. "Come on, play nice." She sneered. "And besides, our companies are joined now. I need to learn about yours and you need to learn about mine.""Fine. That was Mrs Shirley. She owns a containment company and she handles most of our sales shipments overseas." "And why did she seem displeased?" Olivia pressed, and I took a sip of my champagne. "One of our handlers failed to correctly seal a package, and in turn, the fuse cut and a fire broke out, leading to a loss in not just our own shipment, but a couple of others that Mrs Shirley was handling for other companies.""Lemmi guess, she wants compensation. Right?" Olivia rolled her eyes."Yes, and we’re stalling
OLIVIA"You did what?!" Galen’s voice was raised as he got up abruptly."I'm sorry." I said, burying my face in my hands. "I can’t fucking believe this. It’s been less than a week and you’re already screwed this up?" He put his hands akimbo as he raged. "Is this what you wanted? To embarrass me again?"My eyes shot up to meet his, blood pumped with rage boiled inside of me, as I took in his words. "No. I have never wanted to embarrass you." I countered. "Then why do this now, when the companies just joined?" He raged. His eyes flickered as he stared at me, and then, his lips curved into a smile. "That’s it, isn't it?" Galen quipped, "You’re trying to screw us over?" "Huh?""You and your god forsaken family are trying to milk us dry off… right?"My hand collided with his cheek so quickly that I barely had time to stop myself. He seemed taken aback as he stared at me."Don’t fucking talk about my family like that!" I warned, his face was red with rage as he pummeled out of our room
OLIVIA:Galen followed me up the stairs like a man on fire. I've never seen him that agitated before. There had been a mixture of feelings on his face before he finally settled to anger and disbelief. I entered our bedroom, and he was right behind me. He slammed the door shut, I turned to look at him, startled. "What do you want?'’ I shrugged and walked past him. "How dare you?!" He bellowed. "Tell me that isn't true. You lied to me. You couldn’t have done that!" His voice was almost breaking. "Why would I lie about something like that?" he gasped. "This is the answer you always wanted, Galen. You asked the question for 5 years and you’ve always hated me for not clarifying it. This is the truth now. It wasn't just Ashern. It was Philip as well." horror struck his eyes as he stepped back. He looked at me as though I had grown two heads. That look of pain in his eyes was exactly what I desired. Yet, it didn't feel so good. Seeing him in pain put me in pain. Why did I feel this way
GALEN:“I still can’t believe we’re doing this.” I rolled my eyes as I listened to Olivia complain. “This is way too early. Everyone is going to be suspicious.”“And isn’t that the fucking plan, darling?” She shot me a look before we got into the mall. I had already noticed a man following us from a few blocks back. “Are you sure coming here without our security detail is what’s best?”“For the last fucking time, Olivia, YES!”She infuriated me. Hearing her voice was like the descent of hell. She was like a little kid who couldn’t fucking shut up. I heard the clicking of a camera in the distance, and finally, our plan was working. We entered the boutique in quite a hurry. My wife was worried about something so silly. I kissed the top of her head, and then stood behind her as she picked out some clothes. A Lot of the shop attendants were already throwing glances at us. Olvia smiled, as she showed me a small baby apron.“Yes honey,” I smiled, “this would be perfect.”An attendant ca
OLIVIA:My husband is a fucking jerk!I can’t believe he had the guts to abandon me!Was it something I said? I didn't fucking care. As I entered our house, I tossed my handbag on the chair before climbing up the stairs in a hurry. I was going to give him a piece of my mind. “Galen!” I called out at the top of my voice. Suddenly I began hearing noises coming from our room. A feeling of déjà vu washes over me. As I open the door my mind refuses to process what my eyes are seeing. “Jessie?” I tilt my head as I look at her. Her legs were shamelessly spread apart and my husband was on top of her. They were both naked and they didn't even bother to cover up. my heart pounded in my chest and I felt a lump forming in my throat. It wasn't jealousy. It was humiliating. We were married for crying out loud. I stood there like a deer caught in the headlights. “Well, well, look who decided to come home early.” he snared as he looked me up and down. I could not understand his audacity. My
OLIVIA:“I just don’t know.” I let out. “You were once my best friend too, but right now there’s too much baggage between us.”“You mean because of Galen?”“Yes. He hates you.”“And do you hate me?” He asks, his eyes sinking into mine. I followed the trail of his words and figured out what he really meant. I didn’t like it. “I have never hated you, and it’s not your fault for what Galen believes. But Ashern, you have to understand that I am a married woman now.”“And I know that. It’s not like I'm confessing feelings. Or asking you to sleep with me. I simply just want to be a friend to you.” I thought about it for a moment. It did not make sense that he wanted to be my friend. He knew that Galen hated him. “Well, you were right. My husband is being a jerk.” My shoulders dropped. “It’s high time I stopped letting him decide things for me.”“Atta girl.” Ashern cooed, causing me to laugh. “So tell me, really, how do you feel?” I paused for a moment. The question sunk within me, and
OLIVIA:Galen spoke in grunts, scoffs, and angry glances. Surprisingly, I had expected this to be my new peace. Yet it turned out the opposite. I wanted things to go back to normal. Even if it meant we would be fighting every now and then. Right now, my husband avoids any argument and barely speaks to me. He was mad at me and I understood that. But I also had a right to be angry at him for what he had done. “They are calling us downstairs.” Galen said, as he stood across our bedroom door. I shook my head as I followed him behind. A feeling of déjà vu sets within me as we walked down the stairs and found both our families waiting for us. “It's started.” my mother said with a disapproving look. Galen and I settled into the sofa while our families threw ugly glances at us. A news bulletin popped up on National TV in the gossip sector. Almost everyone in the country subscribed to this. On the TV was an image of my husband punching Ashern. Just the headlines. It was like a comedy
OLIVIA’S POVI felt like a spy stuck in a lousy detective movie. Mrs. Grunt had pulled some strings and got us the CCTV recordings from 2 hours ago from the pub across the street. We managed to pull some strings and get ahold of the street light cameras too. "Whoever the intruder was, they were very keen to hide their face. None of these cameras captured him. He kept the hoodie on and he angled his face away from the camera, not even the shadow of the street light caught a percentage of his face. He’s almost a professional at being a ghost.’’ my mother-in-law and I stared at each other, then back at the screen in front of us. "Shouldn’t we go to the police with this evidence?’’"We should but they might end up turning this against Galen?’’ she sighed. "None of the detectives are going to understand that Galen is being blackmailed, they will simply assume that he is in partnership with the killer.’’“But what are we going to do?’’ I tried to hide my panic."We need to take care of t
OLIVIA’S POV"I care about you. I love you.’’ I blurted out!Are you kidding me right now?’’ he laughed, "you’re a fucking joke, Liv!’’Pain flashed across my face as I looked at him. “What? What do you mean?’’ I asked him, looking up at him, teary eyed. “You put yourself in danger despite me telling you not to. You disrespect me everyday and you throw yourself at Ashern every chance you get.’’“Ashern..? Is that why you’re saying these things.’’“It's not just him, Liv. For fucks sake, you slept with half the football team in high school, you have always been an insensitive prick, and a whore!’’ I slapped him so hard that I felt the stinging pain in my own hand. He looked at me, anger flashed his features before he began walking back. I watched as he squeezed himself into the tiny entrance, and I followed. We were back in the mansion before I knew it. I watched as he took off his clothes. I knew he was angry but I couldn't understand why. “We have tried to get on the same page ev
GALEN'S POVFlashback:Back in highschool,5 years ago….“Come on man, if you don’t get in, everyone is going to think you’re lame.’’ Ashern laughed as he playfully hit my arm. “But I love her. I just don't understand why they cannot change the pact. There are other things they can dare me to do, but this. This is Olivia, man, and I haven't felt this way about another girl before.”“Listen to me, Galen, joining the fraternity is the best decision you can ever make. It will rise your status.’’“I don’t care about status,’’ I argued. “Well you should,’’ he put a hand on my shoulder. “You’re already getting bullied and beaten up. How many more times do I need to come to your rescue?’’ I paused, my shoulder dropped. “You don’t understand. I can take the bullying, but I can’t take losing Olivia.’’ “Listen man, she’s not worth it.’’“Don't fucking say that! You and I both care about Olivia. She’s also your best friend but she means the world to me.’’ “You can find another girl whenever
EPISODE 28Galen’s POV“They did what?!’’ The phone against my ear felt heavy as I struggled to listen. “You have to get down here. They won't listen to me. They’re questioning me.’’ “I'm coming.’’ I hung up the phone before picking up my car keys. My father was already running behind me, calling out my name. “I don't understand what they're doing but I'm not going to let them.’’“I’ll go with you.’’ father said as we both entered the car. This whole thing was a roller coaster on a downward slope. …OLIVIA’ POV“You already asked me that question.” I Shrugged. “And you're not giving me the answer I want to hear.”“Well, I'm sorry detective, but you're not going to bully me into taking responsibility for a murder I did not commit. Jessie was my best friend and I loved her.”“But you were jealous of her, weren’t you?’’“What?!’’ I was shocked. “Come on, Miss Olivia... We are both adults here, and you may have the whole world fooled but I can see through you and your husband's act.
OLIVIA’S POV“Is the room to your liking?’’ “It’s fine.’’ I threw the suitcase on the floor and my phone on the bed. “I’ve had another bed made. Once it’s ready, it’ll be moved into our room once the investigation is cleared and the crime scene taken care of.’’“Do you not see what’s wrong with that?’’ I snapped. “Someone just got killed, Galen. My best friend was murdered and you’re already talking about replacing the bed and moving back into that room…? What is the matter with you?’’ He remained silent. He looked at me and I felt sorry for him. He didn't deserve that. and I couldn't stop myself.“I'm sorry.”“It's ok.” He let out. “I know what you're going through.” “No, you don't. It feels like someone ripped my heart out.” I cried out, feeling defeated. He stood there like a statue, not knowing what to do or how to go about it. I felt drained and mentally exhausted.“If you need anything, I'm right here.’’ Galen said, smiling warmly. “I need some space. I'm going to shower a
Galen’s Pov“Take some water baby.” I handed Olivia a glass of water as I tapped her shoulder. She was freaking out. She could barely keep her breathing steady and I had to call her name a couple of times before she even heard me. I have never seen her scared and this anxious. I kissed the top of her head as I handed her the glass of water. She took a sip of it but then ended up pushing it away. “Take it easy. Calm down.” I sat beside her on the sofa, as I pulled her into my arms. She didn't resist me. Instead, she collapsed on my chest and started crying. Her muffles of pain made me feel so sorry for her. “Who could have done this?’’ She cried. “Why would someone do this? The questions I had in my mind were more than a thousand. I looked up only to meet Richard's eyes. He was still standing at the entrance of the bedroom, talking to the detectives today. Olivia's scream not only attracted me but all our parents. My parents lived in the North lawn of the mansion, while Olivia's p
Olivia’s POV"Jessie, I swear… if you don't pick up I'm going to come over there and eat all your food!" I threatened with a clenched fist, feeling frustrated and tired. Jesse had not been picking my calls over the last 2 days. I had sent one of my men over to check up on her but her apartment was empty. I missed her and I was frankly a little worried about her. There was a knock on the door, pulling me out of my train of thoughts. "Come in." I say, as I forced a smile on my face. "Galen?" I can't even hide the surprise in my voice. "I just need you to sign these documents.""You couldn't use your secretary for that?""Well, the guys out there have been looming and watching us the past 2 days. The more time we spend together in private, the more they believe that we are madly in love with each other.""No no, Galen. They're going to think that we're having sex.""That's not such a bad idea. Is it?" He laughed, trying to ease the tension but my eyes remained fixed on him. It had bee
Olivia’ pov“We have decided that you should get a divorce.”My husband and I got up from our seats so abruptly that I felt dizzy. “Divorce?” Galen and I asked in a panicked voice. “Yes.”“Where is this coming from?’’"You two have been acting like idiots and we can't take it anymore. You are changing the reputation of the company and investors have been pulling out already.”“What investors?’’ Galen asked his father. “They do not believe in your abilities to lead the company right. They are judging you by how you treat your home. If you cannot be loyal and faithful to your wife, then they don't expect you to be loyal to the company.” Galen was dumbfounded, his shoulders fell as he looked back at me. His eyes watered. He was broken and I knew he had no other way to defend himself. “Galen has already been trying his best. I don't understand where this is coming from. This company means the world to us, and we're going to take it to Great lengths but you have to let us do it our wa
Galen’s POV“Again, thank you so much for coming, Richard.” I shook his hand again, before leading him into the conference room. I noticed his hesitance but I smiled politely. “You have to understand why my company will not conduct business with you, Galen. It's nothing personal, but we do not take lightly the disrespect that your wife showed me.”“I completely understand, Richard and that's why I have invited you here to personally apologize for it. please sit down.” He settled into the seat across from me. I pushed my files out of my face before staring directly at him. "Richard, we are friends, right?" I asked and he shook his head. "But friendship cannot get in the way of business.""I completely understand. I'm just hoping that for the sake of our friendship, we can put this Petty argument away and do business like we planned to.""I am a reasonable man, Galen, but I do not take disrespect lightly. What your wife did was..”“Despicable.” I finished the sentence. “She is sorry
