I sat in the living room of my home. It didn't feel like home anymore. I was so frustrated and annoyed. Night had fallen and Nathan wasn't in sight.
Evie Jones huh? Evie Nathalia Jones. That woman he brought to our home and introduced her as his client. Apparently, she worked at an insurance company.
Well fuck!
Suddenly, the door swung open and Nathan walked in. He had his suitcase in his hand and he placed his keys on the table as our eyes locked.
"Oh hey baby, you're still up." He said as he looked at me.
"Mhm." I hummed in response.
"You don't have to wait up for me. I told you that."
"Oh? Is that so?" I spoke boredly as he walked over to me.
"Yes. I've been working late these days. Did you make dinner?"
"No, I didn't." I replied.
"Huh? I'm starving. That's so unlike you. Were you busy? I guess I'll just make something then."
"I wasn't busy." I stated and he stared at me confused.
"You weren't? Baby is something wrong?" He asked.
"Well, yesterday was a pretty important day for me, for us. It was our anniversary. I prepared your favorite dishes. I bought you gifts and I dressed up for you. Well, what a waste of time huh?"
"Oh fuck baby! I totally forgot about that. Oh my gosh, how can I make it up to you? I'll take you out for dinner right now! Get dressed, let's go I-
"Just stop Nathan. It's not a big deal right? You're busy at work so it must've slipped your mind." I said and a guilty look flashed in his eyes.
"Y-Yeah but baby that's not an excuse. That's not fair to you. You deserve better. I'm so sorry. I'm gonna take a day off tomorrow and we'll spend the entire day together. I promise I'm going to make this up to you." He kissed my fingers and hugged me.
"You're my sweet girl. Never forget that." He kissed my forehead and I almost melted under his touch. Almost.
I remembered that he was cheating. I wanted to expose him but not yet. Not like this. A part of me wanted him to suffer for what he did. Nathan Taylor, buckle the fuck up. You're in for one hell of a ride.
I retired to bed and before I knew it, morning had come.
"Good morning baby. Rise and shine." He grinned.
Ugh, I use to be so crazy in love with that face, now I just wanted to sucker punch the bastard. Don't get me wrong, I love Nathan but it's so hard to look at him the same, knowing what he was doing.
"Good morning Nate." I forced a smile.
"Go get ready baby. I have our full day planned out."
I made my way to the bathroom, showered and brushed my teeth.
Then I got dressed and did my makeup. I wore a black long sleeved crop top with a plunging neckline and I paired it with some low rise jeans. I tied my hair into a high pony tail, added my hoop earrings and necklace. Finally, I wore a black open toe heels.
It's a bit different from how I usually dressed, I'll admit. I use to dress more conservative because I'm married to Nathan. But fuck it!
I stepped out of the room and Nathan was already dressed. He looked fine as usual.
"Damn baby. You look so hot." He said as he pulled me into him and kissed my neck.
"Maybe we should just stay at home." He whispered seductively and I rolled my eyes.
"No, I'd rather go out." I said as I slipped away from him and made my way downstairs.
"Aren't you going to bring a cardigan?" He asked.
"What for?"
"To cover up?"
"Why do I need to cover up?" I tilted my head innocently and he cleared his throat.
"Don't I look good?"
"Yeah you look amazing actually. Let's just go."
We went into the city and had breakfast. It was delicious, I had waffles. The waiter came to give us the bill and he winked at me.
"Excuse me? Eyes over here buddy." Nathan snapped as he took the bill. The waiter scurried off and I suppressed a chuckle.
"Did you see that guy?" The nerve of him!" He growled.
"See what?" I pretended to not know what he was talking about.
"He was checking you out and he winked."
"Oh really? I hadn't noticed."
"You should have worn a cardigan."
"Everyone has eyes Nate, they can look if they want." I said as I touched his hand. "But the issue would arise, if I gave them the attention they were craving right?"
"Y-Yeah." He stuttered.
"And we're married so there's nothing you should worry about. Afterall I'd never cheat on you and you'd never cheat on me, correct?" I stared into his eyes and he looked uncomfortable.
"Ofcourse baby. I love only you." He cracked a smile.
"Great then we don't have anything to worry about then." I grinned.
After breakfast we went to the jewellery store.
"Pick out anything you'd like baby." He said and I nodded.
I picked out a beautiful golden bracelet and Nathan paid for it. Then we walked around the mall and I dragged Nathan into a store that sold baby clothes and other items.
"Sweetheart are you sure you want to come in here-
"Yes, we're gonna be parents very soon I'm sure. So why not soak it in?"
"Alright then." He smiled awkwardly.
I came across a beautiful pink onesie.
"I was thinking about names, if we have a daughter, we should name her Nathalia." I said and he froze.
"Nathalia? Where did you get that name from?"
From the woman you've been fucking cheating on me with!
"Oh I'm not sure but it's a cute name. I like it a lot."
"It's a bit soon to think of names. You're not even pregnant. "
"Yeah, I guess you're right but I just like that name so much." I smiled.
"Hey, why don't we do something fun." He changed the topic.
"Like what?"
" I know you love drawing so we should buy some supplies and draw."
"Yeah we can do that."
After buying the supplies we went to a picnic area and sat down.
I began sketching something. I wasn't sure what it was going to be but I let my mind wander.
And before I knew it, I had sketched a woman and a man kissing each other from a profile view. The woman that Nathan had been cheating on me with.
"What are you sketching baby?" Nate asked as he ate a strawberry.
"Oh, it's just a silly drawing of a man and a woman."
"Us?" He teased and I laughed.
"Let me see it." He leaned over and looked at the drawing.
"Pretty generic right?" I said and he chuckled.
"It looks good. What inspired it?"
"I don't know." I shrugged.
"I like it."
"Yes, I'm sure you do." I forced a smile.
After I finished drawing, I ate some fruits from the fruit basket Nathan bought. We spent the day on hillside then we went rollerblading in the flat.
"I thought maybe we could get some drinks."He suggested and I nodded.
"Sounds good."
Arriving at the bar, we took two seats and Nathan ordered from the bar tender.
Then he went on his phone. I saw his face light up as he typed something on his phone.
I bet he's talking to that Evie again. Ugh.
The drinks arrived and I took a sip of mine. It was gin and tonic.
"Hey babe, I've gotta take a call." He said and I nodded.
He walked outside and went unto the balcony. Some time after I followed him and stayed behind the wall as I listened to his conversation.
"Yes I miss you so much. I can't wait to see you again." He whispered breathlessly. What the fuck?
"You mean the world to me baby." He added.
I've heard enough! I made my way back into the bar and ordered a drink.
"One tequila on the rocks please!" I ordered.
"Coming right up." The bartender smiled and proceeded to make my drink.
"Enjoy!" She said as she placed the drink infront of me.
"Thanks." I said as I gulped down the drink. The burning sensation slid down my throat as I finished the drink.
I wanted to cry, my emotions were out of control but I took a deep breath and tried to compose myself.
Looking up I saw a pole to the left of me. I did feel like dancing. So that's what I was going to do.
I sauntered over to the pole and touched it. Tiffany, my friend, is really good at pole dancing. In fact we took classes together. It was our back up plan in case we flunked med school.
I touched the pole as I heard The Weeknd's song "Earned it" come on.
My hands glided over the pole and my body slowly climbed unto it as threw my head back.
It's been a while but my movements flowed nonetheless. It felt natural. Hands held high, I balanced myself on the pole.
I could feel the stares of people around me. I now had their full attention and it felt good.
My body moved to the beat as I danced. People were whistling as I went upside down on the pole.
I felt so free in this moment as I danced my worries away.
Then it came to a stop when the song was done.
A loud cheer erupted as I finished. I took a bow and laughed. That felt so good.
There Nathan stood looking dumbfounded. He slowly walked up to me, grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the bar.
"What the hell?" I yelped and he released my hand.
"What the hell was that?" He yelled.
"I was dancing." I raised a brow.
"Like some hooker. All those men were entertained and the way they were looking at your body, it was disgusting."
"Well I'm sorry but I was simply enjoying myself. It's just a dance."
"Ugh, what are you trying to do to me Annette?" He groaned as he raked his hand through his hair.
He pulled me close to him and took a deep breath.
"You're mine and I don't like people looking at what's mine." He growled as he placed his hand on my waist.
"That dance was so fucking hot. You should do that for me. Only for me to see." He whispered in my ear. He was pressed up against me and I could feel that he was getting hard.
This would have been sexy if he wasn't cheating on me.
"I'm tired, it's been a long day and I want to sleep."
"It's only a little past six." He chuckled.
"I just wanna sleep."
"Alright, let's go home."
When we arrived home he went straight to the shower while I made a phone call.
"Good afternoon Sheila, I'm so sorry to call you at this hour but can you squeeze me in for an appointment tomorrow?"
Sheila is the owner of the hair salon I always go to.
"Oh yes, let's see uhh," She paused for a moment. "Can you come for nine?" She asked.
"Yes I can. I'm so sorry for the short notice."
"It's no problem sweetie but what do you want to get done tomorrow."
"I want to dye my hair."
"Ahh, that's great! What colour do you have in mind?
"Blonde."
I sat in the salon as Sheila surveyed my hair."Your hair is healthy and we would be able to dye it. But first we're gonna bleach it. Sounds good?" She said and I nodded.Sheila began working and soon enough she was done. She spun me around on the chair and I looked into the mirror. I gasped when I saw myself. My hair was now blonde and I looked amazing. "You look gorgeous girl." She gushed and I giggled."Thank you so much." My bouncy blonde curls looked absolutely gorgeous."You're welcome darling."After I was done with my appointment, I went to a store to purchase some clothes. I was going to dress differently from now on and nothing was holding me back. Then I had brunch and after that I went home and changed to go to my interior designing class at 1pm.When I entered the class everyone turned to look at me. The teacher walked over to me."Good day miss, can I help you?" He asked and I chuckled."I'm Annette." I told him and he laughed."Oh, I see you changed your hair color. Yo
"No fucking way. You've gotta be joking!" Tiffany yelled and I sighed."Tell us this is a prank. Please tell me it's a prank." Paige pleaded and I shook my head."It's the truth. He's cheating on me and the bitch literally met me." I frowned."That's insane. I'm going to beat his fucking ass so badly." Tiffany yelled in frustration."Is that why you dyed your hair blonde? To try and keep him?" Paige asked."Maybe, I felt like switching it up a bit. He was so happy that I dyed my hair blonde. Let's be honest though, you can't keep a man that doesn't want to be kept and no amount of hair dye can fix that.""That's facts girl. I just can't believe the fucker did that to you." Tiffany sighed."Are you going to confront him?" She asked."Not yet.""Girl you have to." Paige added and I nodded."I know and I will. Just not yet, I'm not quite ready for that.""Take your time but don't let him use you. You deserve better." Paige placed her hand on my shoulder."I know. We've been together for
Today is the day I leave for Paris!Nathan Taylor, who would've thought you'd be lying to me and deceiving me like this. Unbelievable.Nathan already left one day ago. And today is my flight!Since he left yesterday morning, my friends and I spent the entire day packing up my stuff. I was gonna move to New York. It would be a fresh start for me."We've handled everything. We'll make sure your stuff arrives safely in New York and we'll get the apartment in order for you." Paige said and I nodded."Thank you guys so much." I hugged them."We're gonna miss you Annie." Tiffany frowned."I'm gonna miss you guys too. I promise I'll visit once I'm settled." I said and they hugged me again."Do you think youre doing the right thing by leaving? I mean, maybe you guys can work this out." Paige sighed."No, we can't. He knows what he's doing and he chooses to lay up with that woman every night then come home to me. I'm leaving him for good as harsh as that sounds.""You're right. You don't dese
I entered the building and people turned around to look at me.I could feel the strong gaze of them as I walked inside."Your invitation Madame?" The man asked at the door."My husband has it, he's already inside. His name is Nathan Taylor." I said and the man nodded as he let me in."Well aren't you looking beautiful tonight. Care for a dance?" A young man asked me. He looked no older than 25."No thank you." I politely declined.I saw Michael's wife, Celia, chatting with some of the guests in the corner of the room.I walked over and greeted her."Hi Celia, how are you doing?""Hello, do I know you?" She asked."It's me, Annette." I said and she hugged me tightly."Oh my gosh, you look gorgeous. I didn't even recognize you with the blonde hair.""Thank you. You look beautiful." I said and she smiled."Nathan told me that you were really sick and couldn't make it. I'm glad you're feeling better now.""Oh, well that's not true. I was never sick." She looked confused at my words."Look
I trudged into the apartment. The flight was very long and had many stops on the way. I had so many missed calls from Nathan but I blocked and deleted his number. I wanted nothing to do with him.I placed my suitcase down and walked over to the bed and collapsed on it. I was so tired. I was still wearing my dress.I removed my makeup and took off my dress. Then I went and showered. The landlord was surprised that I arrived at this hour of the night. It was almost midnight.I showered and texted my friends, telling them that I arrived safely. My other things would arrive within the next few days.I took my blanket and sheet out of my suitcase and made the bed.Soon enough I was fast asleep. The buzzing of my phone brought me out of my sleep. Morning always comes by so quickly when you're tired.I groggily answered the phone."Good morning Annette. This is Evie. I just wanted to say that I don't think Nathan is doing okay. I haven't seen him all night.""Girl, bye." I hung up the phone,
Nathan's POVI stared at the divorce papers infront of me. I hadn't signed them yet. Annette's lawyer contacted me but I didn't make any effort to reply. How could I?The night of the party when Annette confronted me, I knew that I fucked up really bad.I realized that she knew what I was doing all along.I met Evie around 6 months ago and kind of hit it off. She was beautiful, intelligent, bold, sweet and different. She made my life exciting. The way she dressed and the way she talked. She had me mesmerized.I spent the nights with her and sometimes I didn't even go to work because we slept in late. But in the back of my mind there was always Annette. She was my first real love. She was the first girl I truly cared about and nothing could change that.I felt so guilty about cheating on her and I wish I could go back in time and change things. I don't know why I did it.Evie made me feel something new and exciting but with Annette there was this comfort and coziness. Annette was my ho
Annette's POVI flushed the toilet for the umpteenth time. I kept throwing up.I sat on the bathroom floor as I threw up again. What a horrible way to start the day! When I felt slightly better I showered and got dressed. As I ate breakfast my phone rang. I rushed to bedroom and answered the call."Good morning Miss Parker. I am pleased to inform you that you got the job. Would it be possible for you to start tomorrow?" Mr. Hinds asked and I refrained from screaming. Oh my gosh! I was so excited."Good morning sir. Thank you so much and yes I would be able to start tomorrow.""Great! See you there Miss Parker. Enjoy your day.""You too." I hung up the phone and did a little happy dance.I got the job!My phone rang again. It was Alex video calling me."Hey Alex.""Hey Annie. Just wanted to check in on how you're doing. Are you okay?"Alex and I talked almost every day. He was really funny and sweet."Yeah I'm great Alex. How are you?""I'm good. I miss you. A tiny bit though." He teas
Today was my first day of work and I woke up early just for the sole purpose of vomiting. Yup, lucky me!As I sat in the bathroom, it suddenly hit me. I could be fucking pregnant. Why didn't I realise sooner?Oh my gosh!I suddenly threw up again and I felt myself start to panic. This can't be happening. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love this child but the issue is Nathan.I don't even know if I'm pregnant yet. Ugh!I showered and got ready for the day.I had milk and cereal for breakfast and then I left for work. Before I arrived I bought a pregnancy test. Actually two for good measure."Good morning Miss Parker. Almost didn't notice you because of the hair." Mr. Hinds said."Good morning Mr. Hinds.""Please call me Derek." He said and I nodded."You can call me Annette.""Great! You'll be working with our head doctor. Follow me."We went down the hall and into a room."This is Damien Sylvester he's the head doctor at our hospital. Damien, this is Annette Parker, she's the
I knew what I had to do now. I wanted Alex to feel better. I wanted him to know that he could trust me with his feelings and emotions. The morning of the anniversary, I woke up before Alex and collected a bouquet of fresh, beautiful flowers I had ordered. Ruth said that Alex would always buy Brianna pink carnations. Those were her favorite flowers. The night before, I had already prepared a picnic basket. Then I went and added a few more things this morning. When I arrived home, Alex had already taken a shower and was eating the breakfast I had made before I left. “Good morning, Annie,” he said.“Good morning Alex.”“Where did you go?” He asked. “I got these,” I showed him a bouquet of flowers and his eyes widened. “Annie……what are you doing?” He avoided eye contact and dropped his fork. “I’m here with you. I want you to talk to me. This time around is a little tougher but I want to be here for you. Please let me in. It’s not always okay to handle these things alone. Trust me.”
After everything with Nathan and the drama with Paige and Alex, everything became calm. Alex and I returned to our usual routine of being in love with each other. There was something that was bothering Alex and I keep feeling like we were about to have another issue. I asked him a couple of times but he kept telling me that he was fine. I didn’t buy it. I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what the problem was but I needed to find out. I couldn’t keep asking him so I decided to do the next best thing. It was high time I paid his parents a visit. I got into the car and drove over to their home. I knew Alex wasn’t very close to his parents but maybe they knew something. A few moments after knocking on the door, it opened. A woman opened the door, she looked exactly like Alex and immediately I knew it was his mom. “Hi you must be Annette. Please come in.” She smiled. “Hello, it’s nice to meet you.” I greeted. “You’re just glowing with this pregnancy. Congratulations. It’s a shame when mar
Alex’s POVHer soft lips parted when she noticed me. Tears were cascading down her cheeks. She was too pretty to cry so why did she have to experience it so much. I wished for a better life for Annette, I wanted her happy all the time. When she told me about the kiss with Nathan, I was broken and hurt. How could she allow that to happen? I really couldn’t help the betrayal and anger I felt when I thought about it. But then I realized that she trusted me so much that she told me what happened and I knew she knew what the repercussions would be and she told me anyway. Nathan reached out to me a couple days ago and explained the situation. I knew my cousin well. I knew that he wouldn’t have given up Annie so easily. I knew that it wasn’t Annette’s fault. There she was, standing in front of me, surprise written all over her face. “Alex,” she whispered. “What are you doing here? This is not what it looks like,” she stated as more tears welled in her eyes. “I know.”“Nathan called m
“Why would you kiss Nathan?” Evie asked. “He kissed me, and the thing is, he said he needed closure, but I didn’t know how to react.” I sighed. “Maybe that’s all he needed to leave you alone. It’s going to be like a memory for him, you know. I can get why Alex is upset, though. Knowing you kissed someone else would make him upset, hurt, and angry, but he just needs some time to cool off, and he’ll be fine.” Christiana added. "Yeah, I guess you’re right, but my friend really shamed me for it. She attacked me. I knew it came from a place of hurt, but I can’t see her the same again.” “She’s probably cheating; that’s why she reacted like that.” Evie rolled her eyes. “I don’t know, but it really hurt me so much. She’s one of my best friends, and to hear her say that was painful.” “It’s okay, Annie. Forget about her. Besides, you have us now.” Evie placed a hand on my shoulder and gave me a comforting smile. Somehow, that made me feel so much better. The next few days were a blur, E
After I practically sprinted out of the restaurant, I sat in my car and tried to compose myself. I didn’t think Paige would go that far, not in my wildest dreams. I was hurt and confused. All I was trying to do was give her some advice, and she just threw my issue back in my face. Tiffany was ringing my phone, but I ignored her. I was in no mood to talk. I just wanted to be alone. I decided it was best to go back home and try to relax. But some part of me felt like she was right. I didn’t have to go over to Nathan’s house, and I shouldn’t have done that. As I pulled up to my home, I thought about Alex and what it meant to be with him. I knew I had to come clean and apologize to him. I just didn’t know how. After I got out of the car, I went inside and met Alex in the kitchen. He had already started dinner. "Hey, back so soon?" He smiled when he saw me. That smile made me shiver. Here he was, happy to see me, but I had betrayed him."Alex, we need to talk." I said."What's wrong
"Earth to Annette, are you okay?" Alex asked, and I nodded."Yeah, I'm fine." I forced a smile, and he frowned. "Annie, is something bothering you?" He pressed, and I sighed."I promise, I am fine. If something was bothering me,. I would have told you. I am sorry for worrying you, baby. I guess I am just excited for Evie to come out of the hospital this evening.""I know you guys are going to be great sisters." He smiled, and I nodded. "Aren't you going to meet with Paige and Tiffany for lunch?" He asked."Yes, I am. I have some catching up to do with them."How was I going to tell Alex about the kisses I shared with Nathan? How am I going to tell him that I didn't pull away? I just stood there, stunned. “Alex, there’s something I need to tell you,” I began, my voice barely above a whisper. He looked at me, his eyes filled with concern. “What is it?” he asked.“I…I ran into Nathan the other day,” I said, pausing to gauge his reaction.“And?” he prompted, his gaze never leaving mine
"Good morning, baby," Alex cooed as he rubbed my head. "How does breakfast in bed sound?""Sounds like a plan." I murmured as I took the tray. "This looks delicious." I smiled, and he nodded. "Of course it does. I made it." He winked, and I blushed. I couldn't get over how happy I was with Alex, and I was really glad our lives were back to normal. “Enjoy your breakfast, love,” Alex said, his eyes twinkling with affection.“I will, thanks to the chef,” I replied, playfully raising my coffee mug in a toast. He laughed, a sound that warmed my heart. “Anything for you, darling.”“Alex,” I began, pausing to take a bite of the perfectly cooked eggs. “This is... amazing. You’ve outdone yourself.”He beamed at the compliment. “Well, I had a good reason. I wanted to start our day right.”“And you have,” I assured him, reaching across the bed to squeeze his hand. “Thank you, Alex.”His smile widened, and he leaned in to plant a soft kiss on my forehead. “Anything for you, baby. Always.”"So
Alex arrived at the hospital shortly after. I was so excited to see him. "How's everyone doing?" He asked. "We're all good. I'm just very nervous about Evie. Also, Kathy passed away. Apparently, when we left her tied up, Mai shot her. She couldn't have made it." I explained. "Well, that's unfortunate. Mai is a cold-blooded killer, and she's never going to see the light of the day after what she did," Alex said. "Damn right, you are. She is borderline crazy and I never in my wildest dreams would think that she would take things so far."Nathan walked over to us. He looked like he was on the brink of tears. "Hey, can I talk to you guys for a second?" He asked, and we both nodded. "Alex, you're a good man. I know it doesn't mean anything, or it doesn't matter what I say, but I know you're going to be a great husband to Annette. I just wish that I didn't fuck up beyond repair. It's definitely heartbreaking to see her be with someone else. I fucked up our lives for a few moments of p
Annette's POV "If you make a fucking move, Damien is dead meat." I yelled. "Annie, what are you doing?" Damien asked as he tried to walk over to me. "Don't fucking move, Damien!" I snapped, and he stood in his place. Kenneth placed his gun in his pocket, much to everybody's surprise. "I know you're in the car, Mai. Get the hell out right now! Don't forget, I'm not afraid to go the distance. I'll kill Damien; if I have to, then I'll do the same for Alex and all my friends. So, let's settle this!" "Annie, what's going on?" Nathan asked, but I ignored him. A little while passed, and the door creaked open. Mai stepped out of the car. "Annie, just calm down, please. There's no need for violence." "I don't give a fuck, Mai. Tell Damien what you did!" "Mai, what did you do?" Damien asked, and she sighed. "It's not what it looks like. I promise you that." She walked up to him. "Wait, don't tell me, did you start this?" Damien gasped. "I know it looks bad, but that’s not how it is;
