My eyes widened in surprise, and I quickly covered her mouth while looking around the place. I sighed in relief when I saw that nobody heard what she said.
“Don’t scream it to the world!” I whisper-yelled. I removed my hands from her mouth and saw that she was still shocked beyond her wits.
I sighed and snapped my fingers in front of her face. She shook her head and pointed at me with wide eyes. “You’re a Ricci?” she said in a much softer voice.
“Yes,” I confirmed.
She slapped her hand over her mouth. I pointed at her accusingly. “You better not tell this to anyone or else. You’re the only one who knows about my real identity in this place, so I’ll know when the information leaks out.”
She raised her hands up in surrender. “Why did you tell it to me when you don’t want anyone finding out then?” she questioned.
I sighed and massaged the bridge of my nose. “It just slipped out, okay?” I snapped. “I didn’t mean to tell you anything today, but I guess I got carried away by our conversation. Anyways, that’s not what’s important here. You better promise me that you won’t tell anyone about this.”
She obediently nodded her head. “Damn,” she muttered under her breath. “You’re hot when you’re angry.”
I gave her a nonchalant look, causing her to chuckle.
“Alright, alright,” she said. “I won’t tell anyone, I promise. But, I just have one question,” she sheepishly smiled.
“What is it?” I raised my eyebrows.
“Why are you trying to hide your real identity in this place? I’m pretty sure that revealing your family heritage will give you a much easier time surviving. The people here won’t dare touch you if they know that you’re a Ricci.”
I sat down on my bed. “I don’t want any special treatment.”
Daisy clapped her hands slowly as she sat down next to me. “Very admirable,” she complimented. “If I were you, I would have exploited my last name so I could be the boss around this place. I mean, look at that kid,” she pointed to a boastful man who was surrounded by numerous people.
“He’s been bragging the moment he stepped foot in this place that he’s part of the Marino clan. Have you heard of them?”
I scrunched my nose as I recalled his last name. “I don’t think so. I think I’ve heard their last name from here and there, but it never really made an impression on me.”
“Exactly!” she exclaimed. “They’re a B-class guard clan for all I know, but everyone’s eating him up like a delicious meal. If they find out that there’s an elite guard among us, I don’t know how they’re going to react!”
“Well, that doesn’t have anything to do with me,” I said, lying down on my bed and lightly pushing her away. “Just don’t forget about our agreement—never tell anyone about my real identity.”
***
I entered the gym before 4:00 in the morning, and it was already jam-packed with people as soon as I got there. Daisy was still fast asleep in her bed, and I tried waking her up, but she told me that she’ll soon follow, so I just let her be.
I ignored the stares of the people and sat down on one of the pull-up frames. I effortlessly hoisted my body up the pull-up frame, counting in my head as I did so. I continued doing the exercise without any interruption until I felt someone squeezing my behind.
I turned around swiftly and let go of the bar. “What the fuck are you doing?” I cursed at the bald man who was acting like he didn’t just squeeze my ass.
“Oh hey, princess,” he smiled. “I was just admiring the fine view.”
His friends whistled from the back, and I couldn’t help but let out a sigh of disbelief. I glared at him with profound hatred, causing him to drop his smile and look at me with raised eyebrows.
“Woah, what do we have here? Is princess mad? Shouldn’t you be flattered that I’m actually giving you attention?”
“If it’s coming from you, then I don’t want it,” I squeezed through my teeth. “So, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to my set so I can strengthen my skills as a guard. I hope you do, too, since you’re looking more like a maniac at this point,” I said while looking him in the eyes.
I could see his jaw tick, and it didn’t take a genius to see that he was offended by my statement. I didn't give a fuck, however, so I turned around and left him be. He seemed to have a different plan, though, since he held onto my shoulder and pulled me back.
“What did you say to me?” he said through clenched teeth. I strongly removed his hand from my shoulder and ignored his presence. We came here to train, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m not going to waste my time on a useless man who can’t distinguish his head from his dick.
I felt his hand inching closer to my body, so I swiftly turned around and held onto his wrist, mercilessly twisting it beyond the ligament. “One more move, and I’m going to snap your wrist in half,” I spat.
“Fuck,” he cursed. “You’re fucking insane!” His lackeys started walking in our direction, but I didn’t give a damn. One thing that annoys me the most is when people try to stick their noses in somebody else’s business.
His lackeys had already gotten to where we were, and I clicked my tongue out of annoyance. I blew the stray piece of hair away from my face and assumed a fighting stance. There were four of them in total, including the bald bastard who was currently clutching his wrist in pain.
The other apprentices started gathering around us, and I cursed in my mind since I told myself that I’d keep my presence on the low side once I got here. However, that seemed to be an impossible feat with these annoying people surrounding me.
“I really don’t want to do this,” I muttered under my breath before punching one of the men’s faces. He was quickly knocked down on the ground, causing me to raise my eyebrows in surprise. Thinking that he came here to be a guard, I thought he’d be sturdier than that. I was about to chuckle in amusement, but I saw another fist coming my way. I quickly evaded his attack and swept his lower legs, causing him to fall down on top of his fallen peer. The bald guy tried to tackle me down to the ground, but I acted quickly and kicked his family jewels, causing him to let out a scream of pain before plopping down on the ground.
The other apprentices looked at the scene in front of them with awe, wondering how a lady was able to knock down three men who were double her size. I smiled in victory, looking at the artwork beneath my feet. However, my smile quickly dropped when a booming voice resounded all over the gym.
“What the hell is happening here?” a strong and deep voice bellowed.
Our attention turned to the new intruder, and I couldn’t help but take a sharp intake of breath when I saw what kind of person had entered the room. Being homeschooled my entire life, the only men that I’ve seen in real life are my father, brothers, and the middle-aged mentors I’ve sparred with during my training. The man right in front of me couldn’t be described with human words. He’s wearing a simple white shirt, but it couldn’t take away from his handsomeness.
He walked closer to us, and I followed his every movement with my eyes. He looked down at the three men on the ground, then snapped his gaze toward my face. “Did you do this?” he asked in a deep voice.
I slowly nodded my head, lost for words.
Fuck. Why am I acting this way?
He let out a sigh before looking around the place. “Are you just going to stand here and do nothing?” he asked the watching apprentices. They all averted their gazes. “Get back to training,” he calmly said.
I was about to turn around and go back to training with the other apprentices when I heard his command.
“You,” he said.
I paused in my tracks, unsure of whether he was calling out to me or not.
“I’m talking to you, princess. Turn around.”
I pursed my lips together. He’s definitely talking about me.
I slowly turned around. “Yes?” I asked.
He smirked as he looked my body up and down.
“What do you want?” I snapped, not liking the way he was looking at me.
“Come with me.”
Thalia “Are you just going to stand there or what?” I snapped, crossing my arms in front of my chest. I looked at the very attractive man in front of me and kept my head held high. I followed him out of the gym since he told me so, but now he’s keeping silent. He looked at me with raised eyebrows, his eyes showing a suspicious glint—one of surprise, or maybe even amusement. I sighed and uncrossed my arms, impatiently running my fingers through my hair. “Look,” I took a step towards him. “If you’re going to keep on staring at me without saying anything, then I’m going back to the gym to train. Your taking up the time that I could use for lifting weights.”I was about to walk away from him when he held onto my wrist. I gasped as I felt his warm and rough hands against my skin. However, I didn’t let him know that I felt flustered, and instead swallowed my feelings down.“What? Let go of me!” I tried breaking away from his grip, but he only persisted on. He tilted his head to the side
Luciano I stopped in my tracks when I saw the interesting woman I had met a few weeks ago. The apprentices seemed to be having an intelligence test of some sort. Consequently, I was noticed by the trainers who were proctoring the current test. “Don Luciano,” they bowed their heads when they noticed my presence. “Insorgere,” I said, making them raise their heads. “Shall I introduce you to the new apprentices, Don?” Andrea asked, about to call for their attention. “No,” I shook my head. “It’s alright. I just came to visit.” She nodded her head and took a step back. “Apprentice#16, first!” Reese shouted, capturing my attention. I raised one of my eyebrows. Someone’s already finished with the test? Apprentices usually take a much longer time during this test because of its high caliber. The apprentices looked her way, and I, too, couldn’t help but observe the oblivious little woman. She stood up from her seat and calmly walked to the back of the training grounds. There was a small
Thalia“Once again, congratulations to the newly-graduated apprentices. You came from a group of 30, and now, your numbers have been cut by more than half. After much struggle, you made it to the end. You can finally exercise your privilege as guards.”We formally clapped our hands, signaling the end of the ceremony. After three months of suffering, we had finally come to the end.A lot of our fellow apprentices were eliminated along the way, but fortunately, I was able to make it to the final 12.I looked around the place with a small smile on my face. The graduation was upheld in our training grounds, and as much as I would hate to admit it, I feel like I’m going to miss this place—rather, the memories that I’ve made along the way.My smile quickly fell, however, when I realized that I was surrounded by multiple families celebrating their children’s graduations. Proud smiles and excited chatters filled the hall—all of them celebrating another milestone in their lives. My eyes straye
This chapter contains mature sexual content. Please skip if you're a minor or if you're uncomfortable with such scenes. Thalia I moaned as I felt his hot tongue massaging mine. If I knew that this is how kissing feels like, then I should have done it ages ago. Watching kissing scenes in movies without having any real-life experience just felt awkward to me. Moist lips against rough ones and their tongues looked to be dancing in an awkward rhythm. However, I take my words back. No matter how awkward this may appear on the outside, it sure as hell feels good. "You're really pushing me to my limits," he whispered unto my lips. I smirked, gaining newfound confidence in my body. I didn't know if it was because of the alcohol or because he looked so handsome under this light—may be a combination of both. "Don't hold yourself back." He took my instruction very well because the next thing I knew, we were already on top of a soft bed. I didn't even know that this room had a bed in it! H
ThaliaI sighed in relief when I saw that the program hadn't started yet when I entered the auditorium. I wandered my eyes around for a vacant seat and saw Daisy waving me over to the seat next to hers. I pursed my lips together in a tight smile and hurriedly walked over to where she was. Daisy looked at me suspiciously as I sat down on the chair. "Where did you go last night?" she asked. I merely shook my head. "I don't want to talk about it." However, she continued to rant. "I thought you could handle your alcohol well since you told me so, but you were only on your third glass when you got drunk." I sighed. Alright, maybe I did bluff a little bit last night. I just wanted to drink in celebration of my graduation. And apart from that, I also wanted to forget that no one ever came to the special day. "Sorry for the trouble," I said. Daisy huffed. "You should be sorry, alright. Do you know how worried I was last night? The first second, I was holding onto you to drag you back to
Thalia I sat rigid in my seat as the one and only Luciano Romano sat in front of me. After the announcement of the guarding assignments, the new guards were given a chance to interact with their assignments, so that's how we ended up here. I still can't get over the initial shock of finding out that THE Luciano Romano and the annoying "guard" that I had sex with is just one person. Talk about luck. I could feel his teasing gaze on my face, so I pursed my lips together and focused my eyes on the ground. I just hope that these thirty minutes go by rapidly fast so I don't have to talk to him anymore. "You're not so snarky now, aren't you, bambi?" he said in a teasing tone, his lips pulling up into a smirk. I let out a small breath and was about to retort, but when I remembered who this person was, I kept it to myself. My face morphed into a painful grimace as I recalled everything that I had said and done to him in the past. I talked back to him on the very first day that I got her
Thalia Time flew by fast, and it was already my first day on the job. We were given a week to go back home to our families and spend time with them before we dedicated our lives to protecting the Romano clan. I didn't go home, though. I know that no one would be waiting for me at home, so it'll be futile for me to go back. Instead, I stayed in our designated rooms and trained for the entire week. Daisy proposed for me to come home with her, but I declined. I was uncomfortable with the idea of intruding into another family's home. Now, Luciano and I were on our way to their South territory. I don't know the full details of the plan, but it seems like he has a meeting with someone around that area. "Are you nervous or something?" Luciano asked as he looked at my shaking hands. I quickly hid them behind my back and shook my head. "No," my voice faltered. "Why would I be nervous?" He chuckled. "You're definitely nervous. Don't worry. Everyone's nervous on their first day on the
Thalia "No." I tried to keep my face as neutral as possible after hearing those words. Charles wanted me in exchange for his land and Luciano just disagreed. I thought he was going to agree in a heartbear since this negotiation is very important to the clan. However, he outright refused his proposition. "No?" Charles raised one eyebrow. "I'm giving you a good deal, Luciano. I won't even ask for much money. Just give me your pretty little guard over there," he glanced at me, giving me a sultry look. "I'm giving you one last chance, Luciano. Take the deal and you'll have my lands without any problem." Luciano uncrossed his legs and leaned closer to Charles. "My answer is still no, Mr. Charles. You can ask for additional money, but you can't take my guard as compensation." A small smile appeared on my lips. As much as I wanted to help the Romano clan with this negotiation, I honestly don't think that I'll be able to do it. So, I'm quite thankful for Luciano for not giving me away to
The last special chapter will be about our lovely main characters! Luciano brings home a new addition to the family, and let's just say he kind of regrets it. *** "Shh," Luciano exclaims as the creature beneath his feet continues whimpering. He sighs in frustration and massages the bridge of his nose. It hasn't even been an hour since the creature came home, and he already regrets it. Luciano has never been fond of dogs. Let's just say he's never really been fond of animals ever since he was young. After being attacked by a pack of squirrels when he was innocently playing in the grass when he was younger, he had never been the same. It also fueled his indifference (and slight fear) of these non-human creatures. However, after hearing his precious daughter continuously say that all she wants is a dog for her sixth birthday, he had no choice but to cave in. I mean, who could really blame him? With her adorable smile and puppy eyes, who would be able to say no? The two of t
Now, this chapter will be focused on how Reese and Daisy fell in love with each other. It will be set around the time when Thalia hasn't been found by Luciano yet. *** Reese sighs as he hears someone enter the room. He doesn't even need to turn around to guess who it is. The small yet sharp footsteps coming from the door are enough to tell him that it is Daisy who graced him with her presence. He turns the swivel chair around, facing the woman. He bites his lip as he looks at her frantic figure. No matter how much he tries to deny it, he really can't—this woman is beautiful. "You still don't know where she is?" she asks. And utterly annoying. She just knows how to push his buttons. He sighs and closes his eyes, defeatedly shaking his head. "How many times do I have to tell you? I haven't found a lead yet! I've searched through all the CCTVs around the area, but I still don't know where she went. You know how my sister is—she's very tenacious." Daisy clicks her tongue and
Hi again! Welcome to the special chapters! These are just a collection of fun stories from our beloved characters. I hope you like them! All of the special chapters will be written in the third person's point of view, so I won't be repeating that all throughout the chapters. Cheers! ****** "Umm, so what do we do now?" Emiliano asked as he looked at the tiny and adorable human looking up at him with wide eyes. Warren chuckled nervously as he patted his back's mate. The two of them decided to take Lucille on their trip to Amsterdam, and now, they were kind of regretting their decision. Not because they don't want to be with their granddaughter (they've actually been pestering their respective children to let their daughter go with them on a trip), but because they didn't know what to do with a literal child. It has been more than twenty years since they've interacted with children, and frankly, they've never really been good with it. As they aged throughout the years, the two of t
Luciano "Do you like your new room?" I nervously asked as I showed Lucille the interior of her new room. I knew that I'd done my very best to place the items she loved most in this room, but it still made me nervous. That feeling quickly melted away, though, when she looked around with wide eyes. "Duckies!" she exclaimed as she observed the painted ducks on her wall. "And so many toys! Did you do this, daddy?" I smiled and kneeled down to her level. "Do you like it, my princess?" She enthusiastically nodded her head. "I love it! I can play in here all day!" I chuckled and ruffled her hair in amusement. "Tomorrow, my princess. It's already late. You have to go to sleep now." She pouted and shook her head. "But I want to play," she insisted. However, not even a second later, she already started to yawn. "Tomorrow, okay? I'll play with you all day long!" "Really?" she asked with tired eyes. I nodded my head. "I promise. But for now, you need to take a rest, my princess. Yo
Thalia“Luciano,” I moaned into his mouth, placing my hands on his chest to gently push him away. “We haven’t even placed any sheets on the bed yet.”He ignored my comment and continued placing open-mouth kisses on my neck.I don’t know what happened and how the events escalated, but a few moments ago, we were watching Twilight in the home theater when Edward’s and Bella’s kissing scene played on the screen. I couldn’t deny that I was feeling turned on by the sight of two attractive people kissing, but I had already watched that particular scene plenty of times, so it wasn’t such a big deal. Luciano, however, seemed to have taken quite a liking to the scene despite declaring hatred for the movie itself. So, before I even knew it, we were already imitating the scene on the TV and making our way to the master bedroom. I felt the rough mattress against my skin and felt that it would be such a waste to ruin a completely new mattress, so I harshly pushed him away.“What’s wrong?” he aske
Two months laterThalia“Are we finally getting new neighbors?” I asked, looking outside the window while sipping my morning tea. I was having a peaceful breakfast when I heard some type of commotion just right outside. I peeked out at the window and saw moving trucks transporting furniture to the newly-built house just right across the street. It had already been two months ever since Luciano had left the mafia, and we were now currently living with Grandpa Ferri at Amari Coast. The two of us talked a lot about what we wanted to do—whether we wanted to stay here or move to another location. I was already too attached to this place, and I’m glad Luciano felt the same way. Lucille, too, voiced out that this is her favorite place in the world. So ultimately, we decided we wanted to stay here.Lucille was currently out on a trip with her grandfathers. Yes—plural. My dad and Luciano’s dad had been laying low from the Mafia and now decided to travel the world together. Since Reese is alrea
This chapter is dedicated to Daisy and Reese! It also shows how Don Emiliano changed his mind! Reese She slapped my shoulder and gently pushed me away, causing our lips to separate from each other. I leaned in to kiss her once again, but she placed her hand on my chest and halted my movement. She gave me a nonchalant look before placing a quick kiss on my lips. "There," she said. "That's the last one. Now, we have to go back to work." I raked my hands through my hair and let out a deep sigh. "I don't know what to do anymore, Daisy," I said. "We don't even have a clue of where Thalia is!" She held onto my shoulders. "And that's why we shouldn't lose hope. I don't want to lose another important person in my life. We have to find Thalia and Lucille at all costs." I nodded my head. "We should. I just don't know where we're going to start." Suddenly, Daisy's preppy ringtone sounded in the room, causing the two of us to look at her phone. She was the first one to look at the
Luciano "What?" I snapped, not believing a word he said. My father sighed and raked his fingers through his hair. "Count this as my final gift to you. I'm giving you a choice—the mafia or your family?" "This is another one of your ultimatums, huh?" I asked. "It's the final one," he smiled bitterly. "W—Why are you doing any of this? What made you change your mind?" He sighed. "Honestly, I never really wanted this life too." My eyebrows raised in inquiry. He never wanted this life? He's the very last person on Earth I would imagine not enjoying the mafia scene. "It is what my father taught me—the mafia always comes first. Everything else is only in second place. I instilled that quote in my mind, and even now, I still believe in that mindset." "So, you want this life after all?" I asked. "I didn't want it at first," he said. "But I've become used to it. There are a lot of things and people I've sacrificed because of that belief, and frankly, I'm way too deep into this li
Thalia"No!" I exclaimed, going back to remove the hollow blocks that separated Luciano and I. However, I halted my steps when I felt Lucille stirring in my arms. I looked back and forth from the wall to my daughter and realized why Luciano decided to do what he has done. It's for the two of us to survive...Even if that means he doesn't get to.So, with a heavy heart and tears streaming down my face, I squeezed through the narrow opening to finally escape from this place. The cold air hit me as soon as I escaped, yet I still feel like I can't breathe properly. I also feel like there isn't any strength left in my body, and there isn't anything I want to do other than go back to where Luciano is and stay with him until the end. But I have to think about our daughter and about how much life she still has to live. With that thought in mind, I ran away from the building, determined not to look back. My vision was occluded with tears, and due to that, I couldn't clearly see what was
