Samiya’s POV
Leaving the alpha’s chambers was not as tricky as I initially thought it would be. By the time I had woken up, his side of the bed was empty.
Standing up from the alpha’s bed, I rushed to pick up my robe and thanked the moon goddess that the little fabric hadn’t gotten torn in the process of my little escapade with the alpha. I also made sure to pick up my little wooden flute as well.
It was clearly still dark outside, and while the fact that the alpha had rushed out so early did have me thinking a lot longer than I should have, I brushed all thoughts aside and stepped out of his room. Now that stage one of my plan had been completed, I focused my mind on the contest that I still had to participate in.
There were only a few guards who stood by the hallways seeing as it was still nighttime and as I walked past them, I caught the majority of them staring at me. They could smell the Alpha’s scent on me. It could be the only reason why they looked at me with curious eyes. The thought alone brought a smile to my face and a warm feeling to my heart.
I had a good feeling that I was pretty much close to winning this contest already.
Slipping inside my room, I locked the door behind me and began to go through my things to find a gown beautiful enough to walk in for the first official day of the contest.
“Maybe you were right,” I heard Scarlet say, interrupting my search.
I rolled my eyes, knowing perfectly what she was trying to say. “That Alpha Zain would make a much better mate for us, both?! Of course, I was right! Did you see the size of that thing!” I mindlinked her, laughing.
“I did. Trust me, I did. But it’s not just the size of his manhood, Miya. It’s his wolf too. He wanted us. I could see he wanted us.” I could feel Scarlet’s energy bubbling inside of me, and honestly, it warmed my heart. I had never seen her this excited about anything ever since Meidran rejected us.
“Of course he did. I played one of his dead mother’s favorite songs. Haven’t you heard the saying that men are more attracted to women who remind them of their mothers? I told you that I could handle things perfectly.”
A small scoff resounded in my head and I stopped for a moment. “Wait… weren’t you the one repeatedly saying that you trusted me?”
“I only said that because I knew that I had no choice.”
“Scarlet,” I called out in a warning tone.
“Just don’t ruin this for us,” was the last thing I heard from her before she went completely silent.
With a small laugh, I continued sorting through my clothes until I found the perfect red dress.
After arranging my dress along with some jewelry, perfume, and the perfect purse on my bed, I stepped into the shower and washed myself. Careful enough to not overpower the alpha’s scent but mindful enough to take all the grime off of my body.
Once that was done and the first signs of dawn began to peek through my window, I got dressed. For my jewelry, I opted for gold, and for my hair, I chose to let it down. Today, I wanted my dress to speak for me before I even got a chance to open my mouth. Like most of my other dresses, this dress had a dangerously deep vee-line that showed a good amount of my bosom while the rest of the dress flowed freely to the floor giving a mermaid illusion.
What I happened to love the most about this dress was the fact that it left my neck exposed just for everyone to see how much Alpha Zain appreciated my neck last night.
Stepping out of my room, I saw a few other women heading toward the room where Meidran addressed us yesterday. Like the guards from earlier, most of the women I passed stared at me with a slight hint of confusion. My guess was that they could either smell Alpha Zain’s scent on me, or they could see the love bruises on my neck, or maybe it was both. Either way, it didn’t matter much.
We all had to wait for about ten minutes for Meidran to show up.
The moment my eyes caught sight of his silver blond hair, the first image that came to my mind was the one of the bimbo from yesterday and how he mindlessly fucked her. I knew that I wasn’t supposed to feel anything, yet I couldn’t stop the rage from boiling through my veins.
As though my emotions were loud enough to call out to the man, Meidran turned to face me and our eyes locked. For those few moments, it felt as though it was just us in the room and there was no one else.
But the feeling did eventually fade when he began to approach me.
My first instinct was to run or avoid him somehow, but my feet remained glued to the ground. The man needed to see just how much I had grown to despise him. The man needed to see that I wasn’t the same helpless omega I was when we were kids or the weak whore he left in the market square two years ago.
So, I squared my shoulders and stood up straight.
A few feet away from me, Meidran paused. His nose twitched, and his nostrils visibly flared up.
He could smell it.
The expression on his face morphed from a mild shock to that of fear as his legs took flight, and he walked towards me even faster. Standing in front of me, he took my hand, shoving me close to him. His eyes searched mine and his brows furrowed. “Zain? Seriously? You spend one night here, and you choose to spend it in the alpha’s bed?” he spat.
Wrenching my hand free from Meidran’s grasp, I felt my anger take a new dimension. “You have no right to approach me or speak to me whatsoever! Last I remember, you ridiculed me for opening my legs, for just anyone, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you,” I fired back, making sure that my voice was low so no one else could easily hear us.
My outburst seemed to annoy Meidran even more because his eyes narrowed further and just when I felt he was seconds from boiling over, a loud voice put an end to our quarrel.
“Meidran, are these all the women that would be competing this year?”
I knew that voice. It was the same voice that could bring just anyone in the Etrana pack to their knees, and it was also the same voice that echoed in my ears as I reached orgasm after orgasm last night. Alpha Zain.
Meidran took a step away from me and spun so quickly that one would even wonder if he had ever been standing a hair’s breadth away from me only seconds ago. “Yes, Zain. These are all the women that applied to compete for the position of your chosen mate this year,” he informed him, stretching his hands.
Alpha Zain nodded and took only one step forward before his nose crinkled. He raised his head further into the air before he began scanning each face in the room. When his eyes landed on me, my heart stopped beating for a split second before I was able to regulate it again.
His eyes remained on me and looked at him with as much intrigue as he did me. Scarlet tried to will me to bow my head or at least avert my eyes, but I refused her with all the strength I had in me. I wasn’t going to back down. Not when I had come this far.
“I hear that you have come to win my heart, yet some of you couldn’t wait to compete and just had to get your action elsewhere, so it seems.” His words bounced off of the walls as he dragged his words lazily like he had been forced to come here.
For a fraction of a moment, I thought that he was referring to me and my heartbeats picked up in their rhythm once again, but when his head finally turned to another contestant, I let out a small breath.
“You slept with my Beta,” Alpha Zain said, pointing at the brunette I had caught fucking Meidran last night. Her lips formed an ‘O’ and her eyes widened as though she was being falsely accused.
Didn’t the fool remember that we werewolves could easily trace scents, especially the Alpha?
Before the woman had a chance to defend herself, Alpha Zain continued. “Congratulations! You have officially failed the first challenge. Guards get her out of my sight.”
Two of the Alpha’s men stepped forward, ready to escort the brunette away from the castle. Just as we were all registering what had just happened, the alpha’s voice clouded my senses once more.
“Redhead, step out. We need to talk.”

Samiya’s POVI could feel everyone’s eyes on me, but my gaze remained trained ahead. I could feel Scarlet running mad in my head, but I ignored her and took a step forward.Noticing that Alpha Zain’s gaze on me hadn’t lost its intensity for even a split second, I continued to walk forward until I was right in front of him before dipping into a curtsy. “Good morning, Alpha.”“Follow me,” he ordered before taking a slight pause. “Guards, Meidran. Don’t bother coming with us. I need to speak to redhead alone.”I heard a few “Yes Alpha”’s and footsteps before I dared to look up again and straighten my back. Not paying attention to any of the Alpha’s guards who still looked at me suspiciously, I followed the Alpha out of the room and into a random hallway. We had been walking for a few minutes when the man came to a halt, causing me to stop as well. Slowly, he turned. The brown hair on his head was swept back and each chestnut strand he left to fall forward seemed perfectly placed as though
Zain’s POVI was both intrigued and terrified by this woman for all the wrong reasons.Goddess, help my soul.Back in my office, I couldn't help but let my mind wander to the conversation that I had with Samiya. I had given her a golden offer. One that could have been beneficial for us both.If the woman had just chosen the right option, then both my wolf and I would have been satisfied knowing that he could get to have Samiya’s body at any time and day we pleased, and she would have had access to anything wealth and status could buy.No one would dare try to talk down to her if she was one of my concubines, much less my favorite, and with the way she made Ralph stir, I had no doubt that she could become my favorite in less than a month. But the woman had chosen to be stubborn.I could never forget the look of defiance she had in her eyes when she told me that she would win this competition and become my chosen mate, no matter what the odds were. For a fraction of a moment, I believed.
Samiya’s POV I blamed Scarlet for our current misfortune. The horny bitch just had to nuzzle against Alpha Zain’s leg and act like a she-wolf that had been starved of male attention for years, and now we had to suffer for it. Once I realized that our challenge would be taking place in the training yard, I knew that I was fucked. Perhaps I was the only one who had not gotten the memo beforehand, because all the other women were dressed in minimal clothing appropriate for a good fight while I was dressed in a black knee-length dress. Sucking up my pride, I stalked forward and approached a woman with a cropped, sleeveless top and high-waisted black leather skirt. Her hands were dressed with fingerless gloves, and she had chunky boots on to complete the look. Strands of her raven black hair were all combed to the back and it was only when I saw the frown on her face that I started to question if approaching the woman was a good idea. Clearing my throat, I brought my hands together. “H
Murmurs from the rest of the contestants filled my ears while I kept mulling over the fact that I had to fight.Physically fight.Omegas had no business with fights and I just so happened to be the only omega here.I did not specialize in that area. Even my wolf, Scarlet, couldn't last two minutes in a fight and now, I was beginning to regret ever shifting in front of Alpha Zain. The next few moments went by in a blur. Woman after woman kept moving forward to fight the moving walls Alpha Zain had so kindly brought and only three out of the six women in front of me were able to get to the next round.Sure, it was a fifty-fifty chance at this point, but staring at the huge woman in front of me. I wasn’t exactly sure I was going to come out of this fight unscathed, much less come out victorious.“We can win this fight, you know?” I heard Scarlet’s voice ring in my head.I scoffed.“And how are we supposed to do that exactly? We’ve lost every single physical fight we’ve gotten into since
Zain’s POVDeath by foolish ambition. That was probably what was going to be written on the wench’s tombstone after the other contestants killed her.She could have just agreed to be my concubine and I wouldn’t have had to resort to any of this. The woman had so much ego for a common omega that sometimes I had to ask myself if she was even from this world. The moment I gave the instruction for all other contestants to go after Samiya, I began to feel my wolf, Ralph, stirring inside of me.He and I had stopped speaking to each other a long time ago, but he never failed to communicate with me when he liked or disliked something and I could already understand clearly that he hated the situation I had put Samiya in.Samiya’s eyes met mine for a few moments before the other contestants came charging at her. In those few moments where I thought I might see something akin to hatred or anger, I only saw shock swirling in those emerald green orbs. It haunted me half as much as the dark presenc
Zain’s POVRalph was going to kill me a lot faster than any of my enemies.I couldn’t even manage to stay too long with Samiya and the healer. Both the metallic scent and the sight of Samiya’s blood were enough to drive me to the edge of madness. Even managing to get to the castle’s clinic proved to be a difficult task itself. His presence was thick and almost completely overwhelming. So much so that by the time I reached the castle’s clinic, my eyes had turned a deep shade of red and my hands were no longer mine but my wolf’s.Entering into the clinic, the healer stumbled back as soon as she took sight of me. Ready to retire to my room already, I dropped Samiya’s wolf on one of the beds before turning to the healer. “Fix her up,” I ordered in a low growl. The healer’s eyes widened as she looked at the pathetic form of Samiya’s wolf before turning to face me. “Yes, Alpha… w-would you need a check-up, t-too?”I was ready to tell the woman to fuck off, but when I turned to her to speak,
Samiya’s POVWhen I had first decided that I wanted to be Luna no matter what, I hadn’t put into consideration that Alpha Zain would act like a destructive child from time to time. The man hadn’t bothered to talk to me much. It seemed as though he was more concerned with the wounds on my body rather than the person who just so happened to carry those wounds. He ignored every word that came out of my mouth and once he felt he was done with his skimming and assessment, he left the clinic without a word. Not only was Zain refusing to speak any words to me, Scarlet had also gone silent. Last I heard from her was a day ago, during the fight. I had never seen Scarlet so determined before and when it was time for her to take over and fight for us, I felt all her emotions so deeply. Her fear. Her uncertainty. And most of all, her rage. But that all faded in the end and now, I could feel nothing but shock from her.It was a no-brainer that she felt disappointed by Zain’s actions. The she-wolf
Samiya’s POV I had never seen a wolf so large before and the first instinct I had was to run, but with my hurt leg, I knew that I couldn’t even manage to get far. Aside from the wolf’s size, there were also his crimson-red eyes and his large claws. I did not doubt in my head that he could have anyone killed with just a single scratch, and I wasn’t ready to prove my suspicion. “It’s Alpha Zain’s wolf,” I heard Scarlet say for the first time in a long time. “So now you decide to show up!” I decided to tease her with my eyes still keen on the big wolf. A small sigh resounded in my head. “He means us no harm… I d-don’t know how, but I can tell… I can tell that he would never try to hurt us.” I was just about to argue Scarlet’s theory but a loud growl from Alpha Zain’s wolf put an end to my thought process entirely. As if the growl wasn’t enough, the wolf got on all fours and stalked forward. With each step he took forward, I pushed myself more against my bed, but it turned out that
Samiya’s POVMemories from the day I was rejected rushed back into my mind and it happened fast. There were hardly any good memories with Meidran, and as far as I knew, our friendship was never real. According to him, no one could even stand being friends with a dumb and weak omega who couldn't pass simple classes.“I do not love him, Zain.”Zain’s eyes still searched my face as though he was waiting for me to change my mind at any moment and so, I repeated, “I do not love him, Zain.”This time, he leaned back and took a sip of his tea. “Fine then. I just have one more question. Do you love me? Even after everything I've told you, do you actually love me, redhead?”Now, this was the question I found a hard time answering. My heartbeats increased in rhythm and no matter how much I tried to regulate it because I knew Zain would be able to tell, it didn't stop. The words ‘I love you/him/her / insert name here’ had never left my mouth and for the longest time, I had lived a selfish life.
Samiya’s POVMy eyes fluttered open and the first person I saw was Zain.Of course. His midnight blue eyes were apologetic and his eyebrows were knitted into a frown. I tried to see if I could access any of his emotions or thoughts like I could the other time, but when I tried, I was met with a mental wall.We were back to square one.So, I could only read his thoughts and feel what he felt when Ralph was around and anytime he wanted he could have access to all of me. Great!I tried to push myself up so that I could sit properly, but when I tried, the level of pain I felt made me lie back down on the bed with a wince.“Your body is not used to silver, redhead. If I weren’t your mate you would probably be dead. So please lie back down,” Zain finally spoke.I was angry with the werewolf for so many reasons, but at the same time, I was happy that he was okay, and I wanted to know how he felt after my confession. While I wanted to be stubborn for the rest of the day or even the entire wee
Samiya’s POVIt happened in a flash. Before I even had enough time to think of what reply I was to give Zain, he had already gone. The sounds of flesh tearing apart and bones cracking invaded my senses as Zain morphed into another being that a certain wolf had been longing to see for a long time now.Scarlet leaped to the front of my mind. “Ralph! Ralph, my love! He’s okay, Miya. He was okay all of this time!”While I was happy to see Ralph again and to find out that he was truly okay, I couldn’t help but worry about Zain. Plus, from the way stared at me like he could reach into the depths of my soul, I couldn’t tell if it was time to celebrate just yet.His sharp canines peeked from his gaping maw and his claws sank into the floor as he sat in one place, watching me, judging me even.Ralph couldn’t be possibly jealous of Meidran also, could he?As if he could hear my thoughts, which he probably could, given the fact that we were mates, Ralph began to move forward until we were less t
Samiya’s POVZain called for my mother? At that point in time, I was completely unsure about what I was supposed to think and what I wasn’t supposed to think. My eyes shifted from my mother, who still had her head bowed and was waiting for Zain’s next command, then, to my mate, Zain, who I could see silently gloating.“Maybe you should have just told him the truth,” I heard Scarlet’s voice echo in my head.“And maybe I can go ahead and tell him that the reason why I joined the contest in the first place was because I was so desperate to change my rank and because I wanted to have my sweet revenge on Meidran! How do you think that sounds, huh?!” I barked at Scarlet, failing to keep my growing frustration under control.I expected Scarlet to match my frustration with hers or just go ahead and hide in some corner of my mind when things got tough like she always did. Instead, she released a sigh, completely catching me off guard.“Our mate can be a horrendous jerk every once in a while,
Samiya’s POVZain took a step back, and I felt all of my senses returning to me. Clearing my throat, I straightened my back and looked up at my mate.It didn’t look like Zain would back down from this silent war anytime soon or leave without getting an answer from me. I couldn’t even think properly because I knew that with each second that passed the man was relentlessly trying to get into my mind and trying to find answers for himself.“And you? Maybe I should ask you what you’re so desperately trying to hide from me, huh? Ever since you let me see those vivid scenes in the cabin this morning, I haven’t been able to access one single thought from you. Maybe, you’re the one hiding things.”Zain tsked, amusement dancing in his eyes, as though the entire time I complained I was performing a little show for him.“I saw the way you acted when we found your mother waiting outside the castle gates. You lost your composure, redhead, and then right after lunch you just ran off with her and ev
Samiya’s POVMy hands clenched even tighter by my sides and I could feel my eyes starting to burn.“You don’t have a say in this mother. I am Luna and I have the last say in cases where neither the alpha nor the moon goddess are concerned. You have three days and before the cock crows on the fourth day, I expect you to be far away from here and fully settled into the new life that I am more than willing to provide for you.” By the time I was done speaking, my chest was heaving and my heart had sunk further than I thought possible. My mother folded her arms across her chest and a small smile appeared on her face. It took only a few moments for that smile to morph into a laugh, leaving me confused.“I always knew that you were destined for something greater and being Luna suits you. Just try to make sure that you give this treatment to anyone else who even remotely tries to get on your nerves.”“I forgot that our mother was mad,” Scarlet pitched in, her amusement clear.“Peculiar, yes, b
Samiya's POVSo much time had passed without any pressure from my mother rolling down my neck, but now everything we had discussed all those weeks back came rushing back into me like a tidal wave.We were all sat at the dining table, Zain, Miss Shuzen, my mother, and myself, and while from the outside looking in it seemed as though everything was okay, I had absolutely no idea what my mother’s sudden appearance meant and Scarlet’s constant nagging in my head wasn’t helping matters either. However, the feeling of a calloused hand touching my thigh quickly brought me back to reality. Turning to the source, I saw a slightly worried Zain. “You haven’t touched your food, Samiya. Are you okay?”My eyes fell to the untouched roast duck sitting before me and I swallowed. “Oh, I-”“Miya has always been a special child. She has this habit of being too caring as well. She was probably thinking of new ideas to help the people of Etrana, isn’t that right, Miya?” My mother cut in.Grabbing a fork,
Samiya’s POVFLASHBACKTwo years. It had been two years since Meidran rejected me in the largest market square in Etrana and two years since I had begun plotting my revenge. If the wench of Etrana was all everyone chose to see me as then, the title would just have to work for my good in some way or the other.“Miya, you can’t screw this up. You have one chance and one chance only and if things go to shit then you might as well settle for Enzo,” my mother reminded me as she ran a brush through my thick ginger-red hair.An exhausted sigh escaped my lips. “That will not be happening, mother. So you can kindly forget about the stupid man now.”Through the mirror, I saw my mother take a pause. She let my hair go and dropped the hairbrush on a nearby table. “The stupid man as you call him was the one who bothered to pay for the nice house we live in and give you money for the nice clothes you wear.”My mother was right. It was because of Enzo’s kindness that we could find a place to live t
Samiya’s POVLast night, I confirmed that Zain was indeed a man of his word.Once we fucked the first time and his mark had fully formed on my neck, he made sure to make good on his promise. We kept going at it like mad rabbits until the sun rose, and we couldn’t anymore.Standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom, I couldn’t help but admire the mark that had formed on my neck. If a week back someone had told me that Zain’s mark would manifest in the form of a moonflower, I would never have believed it. I would have imagined something a bit more rugged or bold, but this felt perfect. Out of everything that had happened recently, I saw the mark had the moon goddess finally trying to apologize and make things right. This was her true blessing for our union.Other than the mate mark, Zain had made sure to leave other marks on my body as well.My ginger red hair was in a disarray on my head and hickeys were littered all over my body, mostly around my chest area. But none of that matt
