Samiya’s POV
Leaving the alpha’s chambers was not as tricky as I initially thought it would be. By the time I had woken up, his side of the bed was empty.
Standing up from the alpha’s bed, I rushed to pick up my robe and thanked the moon goddess that the little fabric hadn’t gotten torn in the process of my little escapade with the alpha. I also made sure to pick up my little wooden flute as well.
It was clearly still dark outside, and while the fact that the alpha had rushed out so early did have me thinking a lot longer than I should have, I brushed all thoughts aside and stepped out of his room. Now that stage one of my plan had been completed, I focused my mind on the contest that I still had to participate in.
There were only a few guards who stood by the hallways seeing as it was still nighttime and as I walked past them, I caught the majority of them staring at me. They could smell the Alpha’s scent on me. It could be the only reason why they looked at me with curious eyes. The thought alone brought a smile to my face and a warm feeling to my heart.
I had a good feeling that I was pretty much close to winning this contest already.
Slipping inside my room, I locked the door behind me and began to go through my things to find a gown beautiful enough to walk in for the first official day of the contest.
“Maybe you were right,” I heard Scarlet say, interrupting my search.
I rolled my eyes, knowing perfectly what she was trying to say. “That Alpha Zain would make a much better mate for us, both?! Of course, I was right! Did you see the size of that thing!” I mindlinked her, laughing.
“I did. Trust me, I did. But it’s not just the size of his manhood, Miya. It’s his wolf too. He wanted us. I could see he wanted us.” I could feel Scarlet’s energy bubbling inside of me, and honestly, it warmed my heart. I had never seen her this excited about anything ever since Meidran rejected us.
“Of course he did. I played one of his dead mother’s favorite songs. Haven’t you heard the saying that men are more attracted to women who remind them of their mothers? I told you that I could handle things perfectly.”
A small scoff resounded in my head and I stopped for a moment. “Wait… weren’t you the one repeatedly saying that you trusted me?”
“I only said that because I knew that I had no choice.”
“Scarlet,” I called out in a warning tone.
“Just don’t ruin this for us,” was the last thing I heard from her before she went completely silent.
With a small laugh, I continued sorting through my clothes until I found the perfect red dress.
After arranging my dress along with some jewelry, perfume, and the perfect purse on my bed, I stepped into the shower and washed myself. Careful enough to not overpower the alpha’s scent but mindful enough to take all the grime off of my body.
Once that was done and the first signs of dawn began to peek through my window, I got dressed. For my jewelry, I opted for gold, and for my hair, I chose to let it down. Today, I wanted my dress to speak for me before I even got a chance to open my mouth. Like most of my other dresses, this dress had a dangerously deep vee-line that showed a good amount of my bosom while the rest of the dress flowed freely to the floor giving a mermaid illusion.
What I happened to love the most about this dress was the fact that it left my neck exposed just for everyone to see how much Alpha Zain appreciated my neck last night.
Stepping out of my room, I saw a few other women heading toward the room where Meidran addressed us yesterday. Like the guards from earlier, most of the women I passed stared at me with a slight hint of confusion. My guess was that they could either smell Alpha Zain’s scent on me, or they could see the love bruises on my neck, or maybe it was both. Either way, it didn’t matter much.
We all had to wait for about ten minutes for Meidran to show up.
The moment my eyes caught sight of his silver blond hair, the first image that came to my mind was the one of the bimbo from yesterday and how he mindlessly fucked her. I knew that I wasn’t supposed to feel anything, yet I couldn’t stop the rage from boiling through my veins.
As though my emotions were loud enough to call out to the man, Meidran turned to face me and our eyes locked. For those few moments, it felt as though it was just us in the room and there was no one else.
But the feeling did eventually fade when he began to approach me.
My first instinct was to run or avoid him somehow, but my feet remained glued to the ground. The man needed to see just how much I had grown to despise him. The man needed to see that I wasn’t the same helpless omega I was when we were kids or the weak whore he left in the market square two years ago.
So, I squared my shoulders and stood up straight.
A few feet away from me, Meidran paused. His nose twitched, and his nostrils visibly flared up.
He could smell it.
The expression on his face morphed from a mild shock to that of fear as his legs took flight, and he walked towards me even faster. Standing in front of me, he took my hand, shoving me close to him. His eyes searched mine and his brows furrowed. “Zain? Seriously? You spend one night here, and you choose to spend it in the alpha’s bed?” he spat.
Wrenching my hand free from Meidran’s grasp, I felt my anger take a new dimension. “You have no right to approach me or speak to me whatsoever! Last I remember, you ridiculed me for opening my legs, for just anyone, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you,” I fired back, making sure that my voice was low so no one else could easily hear us.
My outburst seemed to annoy Meidran even more because his eyes narrowed further and just when I felt he was seconds from boiling over, a loud voice put an end to our quarrel.
“Meidran, are these all the women that would be competing this year?”
I knew that voice. It was the same voice that could bring just anyone in the Etrana pack to their knees, and it was also the same voice that echoed in my ears as I reached orgasm after orgasm last night. Alpha Zain.
Meidran took a step away from me and spun so quickly that one would even wonder if he had ever been standing a hair’s breadth away from me only seconds ago. “Yes, Zain. These are all the women that applied to compete for the position of your chosen mate this year,” he informed him, stretching his hands.
Alpha Zain nodded and took only one step forward before his nose crinkled. He raised his head further into the air before he began scanning each face in the room. When his eyes landed on me, my heart stopped beating for a split second before I was able to regulate it again.
His eyes remained on me and looked at him with as much intrigue as he did me. Scarlet tried to will me to bow my head or at least avert my eyes, but I refused her with all the strength I had in me. I wasn’t going to back down. Not when I had come this far.
“I hear that you have come to win my heart, yet some of you couldn’t wait to compete and just had to get your action elsewhere, so it seems.” His words bounced off of the walls as he dragged his words lazily like he had been forced to come here.
For a fraction of a moment, I thought that he was referring to me and my heartbeats picked up in their rhythm once again, but when his head finally turned to another contestant, I let out a small breath.
“You slept with my Beta,” Alpha Zain said, pointing at the brunette I had caught fucking Meidran last night. Her lips formed an ‘O’ and her eyes widened as though she was being falsely accused.
Didn’t the fool remember that we werewolves could easily trace scents, especially the Alpha?
Before the woman had a chance to defend herself, Alpha Zain continued. “Congratulations! You have officially failed the first challenge. Guards get her out of my sight.”
Two of the Alpha’s men stepped forward, ready to escort the brunette away from the castle. Just as we were all registering what had just happened, the alpha’s voice clouded my senses once more.
“Redhead, step out. We need to talk.”
Hello, my dearest readers, Thank you all for taking an interest in this book. I would love to see all your thoughts on this chapter in the comment section. Samiya’s POVI could feel everyone’s eyes on me, but my gaze remained trained ahead. I could feel Scarlet running mad in my head, but I ignored her and took a step forward.Noticing that Alpha Zain’s gaze on me hadn’t lost its intensity for even a split second, I continued to walk forward until I was right in front of him before dipping into a curtsy. “Good morning, Alpha.”“Follow me,” he ordered before taking a slight pause. “Guards, Meidran. Don’t bother coming with us. I need to speak to redhead alone.”I heard a few “Yes Alpha”’s and footsteps before I dared to look up again and straighten my back. Not paying attention to any of the Alpha’s guards who still looked at me suspiciously, I followed the Alpha out of the room and into a random hallway. We had been walking for a few minutes when the man came to a halt, causing me to stop as well. Slowly, he turned. The brown hair on his head was swept back and each chestnut strand he left to fall forward seemed perfectly placed as though
Zain’s POVI was both intrigued and terrified by this woman for all the wrong reasons.Goddess, help my soul.Back in my office, I couldn't help but let my mind wander to the conversation that I had with Samiya. I had given her a golden offer. One that could have been beneficial for us both.If the woman had just chosen the right option, then both my wolf and I would have been satisfied knowing that he could get to have Samiya’s body at any time and day we pleased, and she would have had access to anything wealth and status could buy.No one would dare try to talk down to her if she was one of my concubines, much less my favorite, and with the way she made Ralph stir, I had no doubt that she could become my favorite in less than a month. But the woman had chosen to be stubborn.I could never forget the look of defiance she had in her eyes when she told me that she would win this competition and become my chosen mate, no matter what the odds were. For a fraction of a moment, I believed.
Samiya’s POV I blamed Scarlet for our current misfortune. The horny bitch just had to nuzzle against Alpha Zain’s leg and act like a she-wolf that had been starved of male attention for years, and now we had to suffer for it. Once I realized that our challenge would be taking place in the training yard, I knew that I was fucked. Perhaps I was the only one who had not gotten the memo beforehand, because all the other women were dressed in minimal clothing appropriate for a good fight while I was dressed in a black knee-length dress. Sucking up my pride, I stalked forward and approached a woman with a cropped, sleeveless top and high-waisted black leather skirt. Her hands were dressed with fingerless gloves, and she had chunky boots on to complete the look. Strands of her raven black hair were all combed to the back and it was only when I saw the frown on her face that I started to question if approaching the woman was a good idea. Clearing my throat, I brought my hands together. “H
Murmurs from the rest of the contestants filled my ears while I kept mulling over the fact that I had to fight.Physically fight.Omegas had no business with fights and I just so happened to be the only omega here.I did not specialize in that area. Even my wolf, Scarlet, couldn't last two minutes in a fight and now, I was beginning to regret ever shifting in front of Alpha Zain. The next few moments went by in a blur. Woman after woman kept moving forward to fight the moving walls Alpha Zain had so kindly brought and only three out of the six women in front of me were able to get to the next round.Sure, it was a fifty-fifty chance at this point, but staring at the huge woman in front of me. I wasn’t exactly sure I was going to come out of this fight unscathed, much less come out victorious.“We can win this fight, you know?” I heard Scarlet’s voice ring in my head.I scoffed.“And how are we supposed to do that exactly? We’ve lost every single physical fight we’ve gotten into since
Zain’s POVDeath by foolish ambition. That was probably what was going to be written on the wench’s tombstone after the other contestants killed her.She could have just agreed to be my concubine and I wouldn’t have had to resort to any of this. The woman had so much ego for a common omega that sometimes I had to ask myself if she was even from this world. The moment I gave the instruction for all other contestants to go after Samiya, I began to feel my wolf, Ralph, stirring inside of me.He and I had stopped speaking to each other a long time ago, but he never failed to communicate with me when he liked or disliked something and I could already understand clearly that he hated the situation I had put Samiya in.Samiya’s eyes met mine for a few moments before the other contestants came charging at her. In those few moments where I thought I might see something akin to hatred or anger, I only saw shock swirling in those emerald green orbs. It haunted me half as much as the dark presenc
Zain’s POVRalph was going to kill me a lot faster than any of my enemies.I couldn’t even manage to stay too long with Samiya and the healer. Both the metallic scent and the sight of Samiya’s blood were enough to drive me to the edge of madness. Even managing to get to the castle’s clinic proved to be a difficult task itself. His presence was thick and almost completely overwhelming. So much so that by the time I reached the castle’s clinic, my eyes had turned a deep shade of red and my hands were no longer mine but my wolf’s.Entering into the clinic, the healer stumbled back as soon as she took sight of me. Ready to retire to my room already, I dropped Samiya’s wolf on one of the beds before turning to the healer. “Fix her up,” I ordered in a low growl. The healer’s eyes widened as she looked at the pathetic form of Samiya’s wolf before turning to face me. “Yes, Alpha… w-would you need a check-up, t-too?”I was ready to tell the woman to fuck off, but when I turned to her to speak,
Samiya’s POVWhen I had first decided that I wanted to be Luna no matter what, I hadn’t put into consideration that Alpha Zain would act like a destructive child from time to time. The man hadn’t bothered to talk to me much. It seemed as though he was more concerned with the wounds on my body rather than the person who just so happened to carry those wounds. He ignored every word that came out of my mouth and once he felt he was done with his skimming and assessment, he left the clinic without a word. Not only was Zain refusing to speak any words to me, Scarlet had also gone silent. Last I heard from her was a day ago, during the fight. I had never seen Scarlet so determined before and when it was time for her to take over and fight for us, I felt all her emotions so deeply. Her fear. Her uncertainty. And most of all, her rage. But that all faded in the end and now, I could feel nothing but shock from her.It was a no-brainer that she felt disappointed by Zain’s actions. The she-wolf
Samiya’s POV I had never seen a wolf so large before and the first instinct I had was to run, but with my hurt leg, I knew that I couldn’t even manage to get far. Aside from the wolf’s size, there were also his crimson-red eyes and his large claws. I did not doubt in my head that he could have anyone killed with just a single scratch, and I wasn’t ready to prove my suspicion. “It’s Alpha Zain’s wolf,” I heard Scarlet say for the first time in a long time. “So now you decide to show up!” I decided to tease her with my eyes still keen on the big wolf. A small sigh resounded in my head. “He means us no harm… I d-don’t know how, but I can tell… I can tell that he would never try to hurt us.” I was just about to argue Scarlet’s theory but a loud growl from Alpha Zain’s wolf put an end to my thought process entirely. As if the growl wasn’t enough, the wolf got on all fours and stalked forward. With each step he took forward, I pushed myself more against my bed, but it turned out that
Samiya’s POVZain meant it when he said that he would be serving me with a little punishment because that was the only reason I could come up with for him stopping while I was so close to an orgasm. My red hair was a mess on the bed as I watched Zain look down at me from where he stood. It was a no-brainer that he loved seeing me like this. A wanton mess. One that he had created. He tsked, shaking his head. “Now, only good little mates, get orgasms and get fucked as many times as they need, Miya.”“Sadist,” I shot at him in one breath. If anything, my attitude only amused him more. “Call me whatever you want, redhead. It only makes this a whole lot more interesting for me. Now, spread those legs like I told you to.”The ache in between my legs had refused to leave, if anything, it had spread through my body, penetrating my veins and somehow making my thinking a lot more faulty than it ought to be.A part of me wondered what denying him would lead to, but the ache I was feeling couldn
Samiya’s POVMy breath caught in my throat.I was the one who was meant to do the seducing and teasing, yet, Zain had managed to change all of that only in a matter of a few minutes. His intense gaze remained on me, and I, being as stubborn as I was, matched his gaze with just as much intensity. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep up for so long and found myself looking away, although being the one who was teased this time felt strange, I didn't mind it.It felt good to allow the man to do the work for once.Releasing a breath, I let a perfectly manicured finger trace the exposed path of Zain’s chest that his shirt created. “Pray tell, in how many ways exactly can we play around tradition, Zain?”Zain caught my finger fast, before leading it to his lips and leaving a gentle kiss on it.As Zain's lips brushed over my finger, his eyes held mine, flickering with a mix of playful challenge and something deeper, something primal.
Samiya’s POV Leaving Miss Shuzen’s room, I couldn't help but think about the conversation that we had, and it seemed as though Scarlet had a lot to think about because she was silent. Still slightly puzzled, I walked back to my old room, and I was pleasantly surprised to find all of Alpha Zain’s men waiting for me, right by my door. “Well, let’s get started,” I told them, in a low tone before opening my room for them and ushering them in. For what might have been the next two hours or the next hour or two, I directed Alpha Zain’s men on what to pack and how to pack until we were done. Once we were done, and I escorted the last few men out, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my things were not moved to Alpha Zain’s room but a room beside it. “Wait… why are my things not in Alpha Zain’s room?” I was quick to ask as I rushed past the few men carrying my things and into the room where the other men were currently storing my belongings. “Your things are not in Alpha Z
Samiya’s POV “How did she know about that night?” I mindlinked Scarlet in an instant. “Your special Alpha Zain most likely told her about it. What do you think?” Scarlet was being extra sassy today and at this point, her actions were starting to dabble on a thin line being rude. I was well aware that I was the one who always wished for her to be a little more cunning and grow a thicker skin, but one thing I didn't want was for her to start this little experiment with me. “Our special Alpha Zaim,” I corrected, before adding. “He’s going to be our mate, not just mine, remember?” “Well, the deal looked tempting when I didn't see that Ralph was locked up in some silver cage!” Scarlet yelled, killing off any of the energy I was ready to spare for her. Already coming to the conclusion that I wasn't going to get anywhere with Scarlet, I redirected all my focus to the intimidating woman standing before me. “Miss Shuzen-” I started or tried to start before the woman cut me off.
Samiya’s POV “Wait, Miya. Don't do it.” As much as I loved Scarlet, at times I felt like the she-wolf was evolving at a much faster rate than any other living thing on the planet. I could swear to the moon goddess that I hadn't even let a single word run through our mind link channel, yet it felt like I didn't have to do any of that because it seemed as though Scarlet already had access to all of my thoughts! “Miya, wait, I know what you're thinking-” I rolled my eyes and released a sigh. “Of course you do, Scarlet. You have access to all of my unfiltered thoughts at this point. Maybe I should just quit mind-linking you since you’ve come to know my next move even before I make it,” I mindlinked her, not trying to hide the frustration in my tone. This time, it was Scarlet who sighed. “Miya, the last thing we need to do right now is fight. I'm sorry for reading your thoughts without permission and I promise not to do it again, but for now, can we please just focus on Ralph? An
Samiya’s POVI couldn't stop my heart from racing.Even though moments had gone since the kiss and Alpha Zain’s public declaration, I couldn't find any way to calm myself down. Feeling Scarlet’s energy surge all around me for the first time in a while, made it even harder to, but I didn't mind.I had a perfect mate and the perfect wolf.Nothing could ruin this moment. At least that was what I believed until Meidran stepped forward.“Zain… Alpha Zain,” Meidran stressed his title when he didn't answer him the first time. With Alpha Zain’s eyes still fixed on the audience before us, he answered through gritted teeth. “What is it, Meidran? And you better make it good.”My eyes narrowed slightly at Meidran as he brushed his hands on his trousers before speaking. “Umm… Alpha Zain please remember the reason why you started the contest in the first place. The people need to see your future Luna and chosen mate actually work hard to get that title… the people have expectations.”For what had t
Scarlet’s POVCursed. That was what I was. I was cursed.Yet again, the moon goddess wasted no time in showing me that I was a delusional mess destined to end up alone and probably die alone too, after suffering years struggling to survive in the messed up world that we lived in.First, it was Meidran, and just like Miya had chosen to forgive him when they were younger, I chose to forgive the idiot too, simply because I felt like the bastard didn’t know any better, but then he proved me wrong and made it clear to all that he was indeed a bastard with no more than two tiny peas for a brain. Then there was Alpha Zain. Although it was clear that he was troubled if the man had just marked us long ago, then we would never have had to face the sort of embarrassment that we had to face in the clinic when he made it clear that we weren’t mates.Samiya might have cried then, but she could never feel just how much pain I felt. She might want to tough it up and act like nothing drastic happened,
Zain's POVI wanted to apologize or say anything that I possibly could to make the situation better, but I couldn’t, because before I could utter a word, Mae left me alone to deal with my dark thoughts. For the rest of the day, Mae’s last words haunted me in everything I did and planned to do, and when the emptiness in my chest refused to leave, I knew the decision that I had to make. The next morning was supposed to be when the final challenge was held for the contest just as I had ordered. With a plan drafted up in my head, I made it to the venue hours before the challenge was supposed to start, waiting for her, my redhead. My mind grew restless as I waited to see the beautiful red hair accompanied by the most stubborn green eyes I had ever laid eyes on and as well grown to adore.A few minutes before the commencement of the final challenge, the hall was already packed with members of the pack who wished to see who their future Luna would be. For years, I had made up one excuse or t
Zain’s POVI could have said yes, but I didn’t.Just one word would have made last night seem like it never happened, but I, of course, being the self-righteous prick I was cursed as, told her the painful truth, and for the first time ever, I saw Samiya cry.The woman didn’t shed a tear when I sent six wolves after her and led her to an almost death, yet with a few unnecessary truths from me, it was enough to warrant a teardrop to run down her pale cheek and then another and another and before I could feel Ralph resurface, I was quick to run out of her room.Only a few things existed that a man like me could bear, and Samiya crying, didn’t just happen to be one of them.As fast as my feet could carry me, I ran to my room and the first thing I ordered for were five cups of Shilajit tea. I knew that I would at least need that much to survive the night ahead.Without so much as a break, I down my Shilajit teas one cup after the other until there was nothing left, yet I wasn’t able to get
