Chapter One Hundred

He returned to his chair on the other side of his gleaming oak wood desk and sat back steepling his fingers,

‘Contessa, this is only going to work if you are honest with me when I ask you these questions, do you understand?’

She nodded her head making an impatient sound, then whispered under her breath,

‘I’m not a fucking child.’

He hid a smile at her anger, it was good, if she got angry she would tell him more but he was disappointed when she lifted those stunningly unusual eyes to his they were completely blank again she had herself under control. It was a very frustrating hour for him, she told him nothing answering in monosyllables and refusing to elaborate when he asked giving him a shrug of the shoulders every time. Finally, he said quietly,

‘You know I cannot help you if you won’t cooperate and I’m quite sure Caleb will be very unhappy when I tell him you are wasting my time.’

This got the reaction he wanted from her,

‘No, you cannot tell him anything if I do not give my permi
