Chapter 7

The blanket of the night provided cover for the hackney’s journey. The hooves of the hackney and its wooden wheels clashing with the rough terrain were the only sounds that broke the stillness of the night. It had been a few hours, and I am sure we were nearing our destination. My heart is hammering though my expression shows otherwise. My hands and feet are cold but I’d like to think it is just because of the temperature in this territory.
