26. An island away.

I woke up with a groan, my head pounding. As I blinked away the grogginess, confusion set in. This wasn’t my room. This wasn’t anywhere I recognized.

I found myself lying on a large, comfortable bed in what appeared to be a rustic yet luxurious beach house. Sunlight streamed through wide windows, and I could hear the distant sound of waves crashing. Slowly, I made my way to the window and gasped at the sight before me.

A breathtaking island paradise stretched out as far as I could see. Crystal-clear turquoise waters lapped at pristine white sand beaches. Lush tropical foliage in vibrant greens swayed in a gentle breeze. Palm trees dotted the coastline, their fronds reaching towards a cloudless blue sky.

It was beautiful, but the serene scene did nothing to calm the panic rising in my chest. There was no one around. No signs of civilization beyond this house.
