20. The commotion.

I woke up feeling comforted, enveloped in warmth. Dylan’s arm was draped around me as he slept soundly, his steady breath tickling the back of my neck. His scent—clean, with a hint of cedar—was intoxicating, almost making me moan out in sweet bliss. Ugh, I could definitely get used to this, I thought.

But then, reality intruded. My mother. The worry about her crashed into my serene morning. Maybe I could quietly remove myself from Dylan’s embrace, get a quick shower, and ensure she was okay. She might need me after going an entire day without seeing me, I needed to ensure I didn't need to put her into a mental institution.

Slowly, I inched my hand towards Dylan’s, gently lifting it from my waist. His skin was warm, the weight of his arm both comforting and confining.
