Chapter 20| Demure

Sitting inside the living room of his grandiose mansion, she's waiting for him to come. Her eyes wandered on the interior of the majestic room as she sat on the divan. Everything around her was expensive and elegant in an exceptional manner. The marvellous crystal chandelier hanging at the centre was illuminating the room effortlessly, adorning it with grace and royal glimmers. The place was astonishingly magnificent and it was telling much about its owner.

Her eyes went to the huge window that covered the south of the room. The silk curtains framed the glass window perfectly. Emma walked towards the window, arms crossed over her chest. Her gaze settled on the breathtaking sight, the rows of skeletal trees crowned in crimson, swaying gently to the frosty wind. The elegant marble fountain stood at the threshold with sparkling water falling in the huge pool adding to the beauty of the view. Emma could clearly hear the soft burbling of water that was resonating in the eerie silence.
