It’s funny how our minds are. We can be okay with someone and see all the positive things about that person while being oblivious to the negatives; but when a storm hits, you begin to see so clearly all the warning signs and red flags you should have paid attention to from the starting.
“Jen, you can’t leave. You don’t have a flight booked, and you might be banned from flying because you are wanted in the states.” James point out to me and it irks me that he is right.“I will find a way.” I say and James sigh loudly.“You can have the room, I will make sure he does not come in here until you are ready.” He says to me and I chuckle.I know he is referring to Robert.“I’m done with Robert.” I inform James.“My biggest regret is me not killing him when I had the chance. If I had, I wouldn’t be in this predicament.” I continue.Even if I wanted to get out of London and travel to America, I can’t do it on my own.IfI know I was not going to meet some guards before leaving, but I did not want to meet James, Carlos, Chad, and especially Robert.Time is ticking and I have to be at Henry’s in an hour.I withdraw my head from outside and I bravely hold onto my suitcase as I walk outside. Why am I even afraid? If he sees me leaving, that’s his cup of tea.As I walk on the pavement that leads to the front gate, the suitcase little tires roll, creating a light steady noise. The noise captures the attention of Robert and he turns his head in my direction. As soon as he sees me, he stands quickly to his feet and jogs towards me.I ignore him and I keep walking.“Jen, please talk to me. I am terribly sorry.” He pleads and I gulp, not because of fear or anything like that, but because I can feel a lump in my throat. When he notices that I am pretending like I don’t see him, he jumps in my path and stops me from going any further.
Henry Charles, his wealth is impressive, but he can be very unpredictable. Sometimes in a good way, and sometimes in a bad one.“So do you really want to follow me to America?” I ask him.“Your entire life is here.” I add.“I think that’s the point. I am trying to escape my life for a bit, and I have a feeling that you are trying to do the same too.” He says, his tone firm and confident. He leads me to one of his cars and opens the door for me to get in.“Leave the luggage, my guard here will put it in.” He points out and I see a bulky fellow. The guy reaches for my suitcase and then proceeds to put it in the trunk of the car.I thank Henry for the gesture and I get in the car. He gets in also, but at the driver’s seat.Is he going to be the one driving? If he is going along with us, then who is going to bring the car back?Anyway, he has a lot of guards, one of them would for sure bring it back. When a
No matter how long the sun sits in the sky, it would still have to fall to sleep so that the moon can rise. This is a quote that I made up that actually keeps me motivated and going despite my circumstances. It simply means that there would be times in my life where everything would be great, but that doesn’t mean it is going to stay that way forever. Calamity would still fall, and the evidence that it would pass and sunny days would come again is the fact that it even started. It never rains forever, so I believe I will not feel the hurt and sadness that I feel now forever. I will heal, and things will get better. I truly believe that.It is now morning and we are still on the jet plane. When I open my eyes, light from the sun blinds me and I use my hand as a shield. It is sunrise and the view is magnificent. The golden light from the sun bounces on the clouds, creating an illusion that we are in heaven.“Wow.” I say l
What has Henry and his goons have gotten us into?“Just keep walking.” Henry tells me name soon we exit the building and we are back outside, not very far from the runway.“Is she still following us?” Henry asks one of his bodyguards the question that lingers in my mind.He searches our tail and I do the same. I don’t see her. But we have to get out of here. She was calling for backup, she would be back here soon.“Follow us.” The other bodyguard says and they lead us to another door. This one seems more discrete and has the words: EMPLOYEES ONLY written on it.The guard reaches for the handle and attempts to open the door. It miraculously opens and I let out a breath I never knew I was holding.“This is usually not what we do. We just simply go through airport security, but you are with us, so we obviously can’t.” He explains and I thin my lips.We all enter the long hallway and it leads us to another door that hap
n invitation back into my old but not so old life. Why, yes.I continue to read the contents of the email as I smile. The money reward is not a billion dollars, but it is not also bad.It is five hundred thousand dollars. At the bottom of the email, there happens to be a link. I click it and the laptop begins to make a call.A voice call, and not a video one.“Hello?” The person answers and I do a little stretching for my neck.“This is Jen Davis, yes?” The person inquires and I realize that it is a lady. Her voice is light and seems young.“Yes. I read the email and the offer is not too tempting.” I try to play hard to get.“I can double it.” She says desperately and I lift my eyebrows in mild surprise.Well, that did not take much convincing.“Go on, I like what you are saying.” I encourage the lady to speak.“I am willing to double it, but I want the job done within three d
Good thing I brought my clothes and stuffs with me in my suitcase, I can easily find something to wear that I like. Now that I am in New York, I can also try to go back to my apartment in Manhattan, I don’t think it is being thoroughly watched by the police again.I wake up from the bed and I walk towards the door so I can lock it. When I have, I remove my clothing and put them in a neat pile. I need to shower, I feel a bit icky. This beautiful room has a bathroom and I am going to make use of it.When I enter the bathroom, I am impressed at how nice it is. It is the nicest bathroom I have seen. And the size of it is jaw dropping. This could even be a second bedroom.I walk towards the shower and I turn the water on. I then walk over to faucet and I look at my reflection in the mirror.I look a bit drained, and my face seems pale. Maybe the shower would help.I open a cabinet near the mirror over the f
What is Robert doing here?“Henry..” I say his name in a warning tone and he raises his hands in defense.“Trust me, I didn’t know he was coming or even your lover.” He defends himself and I sigh.“Don’t tell him I’m here, I will be upstairs.” I tell him as I wake up from the couch. I walk past the maid and I head to the room.***Henry’s POV***Well, this is a surprise.“Are you certain that he said his name was Robert Jones?” I ask the maid and she nods.“Yes, sir.” She replies politely.“Okay, okay. Let him in.” I tell her and she nods again. She curtsies as she excuses herself.I didn’t even know that Jen had a lover, and the fact that she chose to become intimate emotionally with the greatest playboy of America seems comical, but yet sad.I place the remains of the apple I was eating done on the coffee table as I stand to my feet.Soon, I see Robert Jones walking in. The l
My nod was the only visual confirmation that my guards needed. The guard that Robert fended away hits him with the end of the gun in his gut and his doubles over and falls to the floor. He lets out strings of cusses as he coughs. As the guard is about to hit him again, I raise my hand for him to stop.“Stop, it’s alright.” I say as I study Robert on the floor. He is in a kneeling position and he looks like he is in physical pain.“Henry...” I hear a voice and I look towards it. It’s Jen, and she is walking towards us.Damn it.“Stop this, please.” She begs as she gets closer to him.Robert scurries to his feet and he turns toward Jen.“Jen, Jen. Thank God you’re alright.” He says as he tries to hug her but she dodges him.“Don’t touch me.” She spits and she walks to me.“I had this handled, you did not have to come out.” I inform her and she shakes her head as to say no.“Viol
