Chapter Five

Shock washed through Alyssia as she saw what was happening in front of her.

Her dog, no, the dog was changing in front of her. What she was seeing was too gruesome for her and yet she couldn't turn away or run. Wolfie appeared to be twitching unstoppably, all the furs were receding and glimpses of pale skin could be seen. She could also faintly hear the cracking of bones from his body. In a flash, a man, a full grown did I say naked man was standing right in front of her. She looked at his face and jolted with shock when she recognized him. "Its you". She pointed at him. You're the guy i met at the cafe".

That's all she could say. Mind you, the guy was absolutely naked and in normal circumstances she would appreciate the view especially his gorgeous but strangely erect member, no that was a monster. But the guy in front of her was a dog who just changed to a human male right in front of her. What could she make of this. Alien! No not an alien. "A..a..are you an alien?wait no a mutant from a science lab which was hidden by the government and has escaped to come kill me ?" she asked breathless. Her heart was hammering painfully in her chest. She glanced at the door by her left thinking of how to escape.

Nacen sighed woefully inside his head. He didn't want this to happen. At least not now. Damn this stupid hormones. He was painfully erect but that wasn't the least of his worries right now. He has to wipe her memory of this encounter. She wasn't ready to know about him. He walked slowly towards her. She also moved backwards as he came towards her. "Hey s..stop there. Don't hurt me. Stay back".

"Relax. I won't hurt you".

"Okay, just don't come any closer". His heart hurt when he heard her say this. She was his mate after all. He stopped just two inches away from her. "Look into my eyes. Don't be scared. I'm not gonna hurt you".

She looked into his eyes in confusion. Why should she look into his eyes. There was nothing there. She gazed into his eyes and was surrounded by the Sapphire beauty she saw. Suddenly his eyes started glowing a bright red and she began to feel dizzy. She fell down with a plop asleep.

Wheew! That was a close call. He carried her in bridal style into her room and laid her on her bed using the blanket to cover her body. In the morning she would think that she fell asleep after eating. It was a good thing he had his powers, they always came in handy. He stood up to his full height and remembered something. Right. He looked down at his little brother and groaned in exasperation. He had to have a cold shower. He can endure. He slowly made his way to her shower and turned on the faucet. Letting the cold water rain down on him, cooling him. After he was done, he dried himself and changed back into a wolf and laid down beside her bed and slept.

She woke up groggily from her sleep. Her long hair was tousled around her face. She yawned and stretched fitfully. She blinked a few times and looked around her. "Weird" she mumbled. "I had a strange dream but I can't seem to remember anything". She shrugged as she pulled off the blanket from her body. It was just a dream. She saw that Wolfie was still asleep and decided not to wake him up. Making her way to the bathroom she took her toothbrush and stared at her reflection the mirror. She didn't consider herself a beauty queen but she knew she was pretty. Staring at her eyes in her reflection, she couldn't shake the nagging pang in her chest. She felt that if she looked deeply into her own eyes she would see something primal and dangerous. She had been having this feeling that there was something inside of her waiting to come out. Something feels. Strangely she started feeling this way the day she met Wolfie.

She sighed and shook her head while she brushed her teeth and took her shower. When she emerged from the shower, Wolfie was gone but she wasn't worried. He could be in the sitting room waiting for his breakfast. She took off her towel and dressed in her normal wear of jeans, a black shirt and a pair of black sneakers.

Nacen woke up as soon as he heard the sound of the shower. He quickly left the room as he couldn't hear the thought of seeing her naked or he might mess up again. As he heard the sound of the water splashing down he imagined the water cascading down her beautiful body to pool at her feet. He imagined licking the drops of water off her body. "We need our mate now". his wolf's voice sounded out desperately. His wolf's name was Widen. He had been silent for a while surprisingly he decided to speak just for this. "So you finally decided to come out huh?" "We need our mate. Mate, mate, mate" "Not now Widen, not now"and he kept quiet. He heard her coming into the sitting room and ran to her to buzzer her hands. Also, when he was wiping her memory, he also put the illusion in her head that what she saw him as was a dog, a husky. So in her eyes, he was a lot more smaller and the right size for a husky, this would also be the same if other people saw him.

"Hey boy . Let me get you fed". she poured some dog food for him in a bowl and watched him as ate his food while she drank a cup of orange juice and some toast. That done, she left for school.

As soon as she left, Nacen shifted back to a human and spit out the dog food in his mouth.

"Puah.....yuck. ohhh dog food not tasty."

"Ah Nacen is this what you have been reduced to" He sat in the floor with a listless expression in his eyes. He quickly stood up to make himself a decent meal. He opened the fridge and found some steak which he took two out of. He barbecued the steak and toasted some bread, made an egg omelets and some bacon. This he wolfed down in five minutes. He belched with satisfaction. "Ok now that's a meal". "You wouldn't have to suffer this if you just showed yourself to our mate" Widen argued "I know, I just want her to be ready". He went to take a shower and dressed with some clothes he had stolen from some neighbors cough, he meant borrowed. He wore a tight fitting blue jeans, a white shirt which accentuated his muscles and a black jacket to complete his looks, he wore a pair of white trainers. He was going to see Alyssia again. Somehow he was going to get her mentally prepared for him.

Alyssia was in the cafeteria having lunch of spaghetti while trying to revise her notes. She felt a certain shadow over her head and looked up. "Hello, its me again" It was the guy she met and dreamt about in class. Memories of that day gushed in her head and she blushed in embarrassment and lowered her head. "May I join you?" "Um sure". "Thanks"

He sat down with flourish. She watched as he crossed his long capable legs in front of him. Today he was looking very handsome. She salivated in her mouth. Damn why would a guy look this good in front of her, she might just jump him. The white shirt he wore couldn't hide the vast muscles straining under his skin. And the black jacket he wore gave him an ultimate bad boy sexy look. It seemed like she wasn't the only one being affected by his appearance as other girls couldn't take their eyes off him. They seemed to be undressing him with their fervent gazes. The other guys noticed this and could only give a hateful glare. Nacen was aware of them looking at him but he didn't give a damn he only cared about the person in front of him. The ladies sighed in sorrow as they saw that he had no intention of paying them any interest. Meanwhile, Alyssia was still sizing him up with her gaze. He leaned over and clicked his fingers in front of her.

"Hello, earth to Alyssia"

Oh she quickly snapped out of her transcript and glanced apologetic at him. "haha I'm sorry . You were saying"

"Nothing, you just tranced off me " he gazed at her amused

"I'm sorry, I was lost in thought. So what brings you hear,again.?"

"Oh nothing special, just wanted to take a stroll and I just happened to see you" e spread his hands "What a coincidence"he grinned.

She chuckled, she didn't believe him one bit. " Yeah right a coincidence. Why do I think you are stalking me"

"What!" he gasped while placing a hand on his chest "I would never, do I look like the stalker kind to you?" he spoke seeming sincere but one could see a glint of mischief in his eyes.

"I don't know, who knows if you are a serial killer" she leaned closer to his face.

"OK you got me there. I came here as soon as I saw you" he said in a defeated tone.

"Ha I knew you were lying". She took a forkful of her spaghetti and put it in her mouth. He swallowed as he watched those luscious lips move around the fork. "Why do you want to see me?"

He shrugged"Because I want to get to know you better "

"And what makes you think you can get to know me better?".

"I don't know, I feel like there is something tying us together and we have an affinity with each other. He answered seriously, he didn't like to be around the bush so he cut straight to the chase.

She looked at him in surprise. OK where did that come from. He was good looking no doubt, but that didn't mean she was going to fall for this crap.

"An affinity? What makes you so sure?" she would not admit it but she also felt and affinity with him and it scared her.

"Its fate. I have a feeling we will be seeing each other a lot more, maybe for life"

*OK whatever" she chuckled uneasily "Anyway what about you. What do you do? Are you in school?"

"Oh I'm a researcher for paranormal mysteries. I believe that there are many mysteries in the world, we just have to discover them" he crossed his hands as he spoke and she tried hard not to ogle at his building muscles. "What paranormal mysteries are you talking about?"

"Well mysteries like the werewolves". He sat up as he spoke excitement glinting in his eyes. "Do you know that they really exist and they are very peaceful creatures. They behave human just like any other person"

She looked at him like he said something stupid. "They are real? How can they be peaceful creatures?"

"They are" he nodded his head allowing his hair to bounce with the movement of his head. "And do you know how they find their mates"

"How" she was curious

"They simply have to follow their mate's scent and the mate pull .Once they find each other, they mate. According to them, they believe that everyone has a fated mate, one he is meant to be with forever. His soulmate." Strangely, as he said this he looked directly into her eyes and she couldn't tear her gaze away. It felt like he was talking about her. "Once his mate is found, he would do anything to claim and protect her even if it means chasing her to the ends of the earth and beyond".

Whoa! This was becoming intense from such a simple conversation.
