The delicious aroma of the pancakes was floating all over in the air, along with her sweet humming. A tender smile was playing on the face of that 24 year old woman who was making pancakes for her 3 years old daughter as her daughter loved eating pancakes for breakfast.
"MOMMA!..." Her daughter's scream widened her eyes in terror whereas it halted her heartbeat completely. Switching off the gas stove immediately, she dashed out of the kitchen and went to their bedroom.
"FLORA…." She shouted, panicking as she opened the door of their bedroom where she saw her daughter sitting on the bed who was covering her tiny frame with a big duvet. Her daughter's big round eyes were looking here and there around her in fear which turned her confused.
"What happened, Flora?" She asked, stepping inside the door. Her daughter looked at her, hearing her voice.
"Why did you scream?"
The little girl peeked her head out from that duvet and again scanned her surroundings with her beautiful sea-green eyes which she had inherited from her mother. Her behaviour turned her mother confused.
"Ora, what happened?" She called her by her nickname but the little girl was busy checking her surroundings until her eyes finally landed on that thing she was searching for. Her wide eyes enlarged more.
"Momma, cockroach," she pointed her little hand towards a certain direction. Her mother's gaze followed that direction and she saw a cockroach on the floor. So this cockroach was frightening her tiny baby so much? She sighed and turned towards that cockroach.
"It's just a cockroach, Ora," she said while bravely walking towards that cockroach until she heard her daughter's next words.
"Momma, it has wings," and that was it for her mother's bravery to fly out of the window. She ran back towards the bed and got up on it. She also got under the duvet with her daughter.
"Did you see it flying?" She asked and the little girl nodded which enlarged her eyes. Both mother and daughter were terrified of flying cockroaches and then that thing happened. That cockroach took out his wings and started flying around that room.
"OH...My GOD…." She screamed out of her lungs while hiding her daughter in her embrace tightly as the cockroach continued to fly. Both the mother-daughter duo's screams resonated all around the house until they saw that person stepping inside the door
"What happened?" She saw her friend, Niova, entering with a visible tense reaction on her face.
"What happened, Aniya? Why are you and Flora screaming?" She asked that mother-daughter duo who were still hiding under that duvet. Like every other normal day, Niova had come to their house to meet them but she heard them screaming at the top of their lungs as soon as she entered the main door.
"Because of that cockroach. Look, it's still flying…oh…my…" Aniya again covered herself and her daughter with that duvet as that flying cockroach again came into her vision. Niova gave them a stunned look after hearing the reason behind their ear damaging screams.
"You both are screaming like an earthquake has come just because of this one damn cockroach, Ani….?" She sounded startled.
"No foul language before Ora, Niva and that cockroach is flying," Aniya defended herself.
"Yes, aunty Niva. It has wings," Aniya's little version agreed to her mother.
"You both…." Niova sighed in disbelief and then opened the windows of that room. The cockroach finally flew away from the window.
"Now come out, my drama queens. Your enemy has flown away," she taunted them. Both the girls peeked out their heads from the duvet and only after finding their surroundings safe and sound, they both removed that duvet from their bodies.
"Thank you so much for saving momma and me, aunty Niva. You are our prince," the little girl clapped in excitement. Niova chuckled and picked that tiny doll in her arms. She pecked her pink cheeks.
"Of course, my princess Flora," she answered, making the little girl giggle in her embrace. Aniya beamed by watching them and then started folding that duvet.
"Momma, I am going out to see if my friends have come or not," the little girl informed her mother and then dashed out of the room.
"Ani, Flora is only a kid, so her fear is understandable but what about you?" Her friend's question halted her hands from folding that duvet. She looked at her friend and Niova immediately understood her answer in Aniya's silence.
"I have Katsaridaphobia," she answered. Aniya had a phobia of roaches because of her past. In the initial days, it used to be really very bad but with the growing passage of time, she had learnt to overcome her fear but had still not succeeded in overcoming it completely.
Niova didn't question her about that topic furthermore because she was aware of Aniya's past and her side of the story which was extremely brutal and barbaric, just to even hear.
"Momma…momma…momma…" Flora came inside the room while chanting her mother's name. Her enthusiastic smile was telling Aniya that her friends had come to play with her.
"Oliver and Lena are here momma. Can I go outside to play with them in the garden?" The little girl requested her mother. Oliver and Lena were her best friends and they lived in her neighbourhood.
"No, first eat your breakfast, Ora," she walked towards her daughter and then picked her up in her arms. The little girl pouted. She wanted to play.
"Then you can play with your friends as much as you want," hearing her mother and watching her smile, Flora tittered and nodded her head. Aniya beamed at her and then went to the hall with Flora and Niova.
After eating her breakfast with her friends, Flora was playing with her friends, Oliver and Lena, in the backyard of her house which her mother had turned into a small garden for her by planting beautiful and colourful flowers and even some vegetables.
All the kids played together for a while and it tired them a bit. Flora and Oliver sat on the bare ground but turned confused when their friend, Lena, didn't join them.
"What happened, Lena? Why are you not sitting?" Oliver, the little 5 years old boy, asked the 4 years old girl, Lena.
"I'm wearing a new dress today, so it will turn dirty if I sit on the floor," Lena told her friends while showing her blue frock to her friends.
"New dress?" Flora asked, excited.
"Yes, my papa brought this dress for me tomorrow," Lena's words filled Flora with more excitement. The youngest one stood on her feet and circled around her friend Lena to take an overview of her new dress.
Her sea-green eyes gleamed with happiness.
"It is very pretty," the little girl complimented. Oliver joined the girls.
"My papa had also bought these new shoes for me on my last birthday," Oliver extended his feet and showed his shoes to his friends. The girls looked towards it.
"He has even bought me a lot of toys and a very beautiful watch," he informed them. The girls smiled at him.
"Yes, my papa has also bought a doll house for me last week," Lena said happily and then looked at Flora.
"Did your papa buy you a gift, Flora?" She asked, innocently. Flora shook her head in a 'no' because it was always her momma who bought gifts for her. Her papa had never bought something for her. In fact, she didn't even know where he was.
After that conversation, the kids played for some more time and then Oliver and Lena left for their homes which were in the neighbourhood.
Aniya was mopping the dining table when she saw her daughter stepping inside the hall.
"So what games did you play with Oliver and Lena today, Ora?" She asked but the little girl didn't respond which was very unusual for her because Flora used to hype up very much just at the mere mention of her friends.
Aniya looked at her daughter and saw her climbing up on the sofa. She sat there in complete silence and didn't even try to switch on the television like always. It made Aniya confused.
Cleaning her hands with her apron, she walked towards her daughter who was sitting on the sofa.
"Ora, did you have a fight with your friends, baby?" She asked, sitting beside her on the sofa. Flora looked at her mother and shook her head.
"Then? Are you hungry? Or are you feeling any pain somewhere?" She immediately started checking her as her daughter's medical health was really very fragile.
Flora again jerked her head, turning Aniya more confused until
"Momma, has papa ever bought any gift for me?" Those words of her daughter froze Aniya till her core. She had never asked her about something like this before. In fact, she had never even tried to ever ask her about her father then why today?
"Why, Ora? Do you want a gift, baby?" Surpassing her own emotions, she tried to find out her daughter's motive behind that question of hers. The little girl again declined by moving her head in a 'no'.
"Oliver and Lena said their papa has bought them a lot of gifts. They were asking me if my papa bought any gift for me or not, momma,"
Aniya's heart ached, hearing her little princess's words. The curiosity to know about her father was gleaming in her doe eyes. She wanted to know about her 'papa' but how or in precise what could she tell about her father to her when she herself didn't know who her father was. Yes, Aniya didn't know who the father of her child was and it was just because of her past. She used to be a prostitute but she was forced to be one.
From the day Aniya had started understanding things in her life, she remembered she used to live with a couple in Germany whom she used to think of as her parents and they had also never done something to her which would make her feel otherwise. They had given love, warmth and care to her throughout her life until one day, which changed her whole life.
Aniya was 18 years old, when one day, she was returning to her home from her college but there she got drugged and abducted by a group of men. When she opened her eyes, her life had changed completely. She found herself in a brothel where she continued to get forced over and over again with different kinds of men who bought her body for their pleasure. She was tortured both mentally and physically.
She screamed, begged, pleaded for help but failed to ever escape from that cruel place and eventually gave up on her hope of ever escaping. She accepted that as her fate and continued to sell her body for almost three years but things again took a turn in her life when she turned 20. Aniya found out that she got pregnant and that was where her hope for escaping from that place turned into her zeal.
She wanted to escape from that place because she didn't want her child to be born in a place like that. She didn't want her child to suffer that pain she had to endure. She didn't want her child to accept that gloomy world as her fate, so she again tried to escape and this time, her fate was in her favour. She succeeded in running away from that brothel with all that money she had earned in those 3 years by trading her body.
After running away from that brothel while carrying her child in her womb, she tried to reach her parents but there she got to know that her parents had sold that house to someone else almost three years ago, from the day she had gone missing. There she received another shock but she knew she didn't have the time to drown herself in that pain. She needed to run away from there as soon as possible because the people of that brothel were searching for her.
Aniya decided to leave that country with all that money she had earned and with the help of a specific someone, she left that country and came to live in Italy.
Here she started building a new life for her and her unborn child. After working countless jobs as a waitress, librarian, even maids and cleaners, she finally received a well settled job in a small company as a junior assistant after her daughter turned one. She thought her pain had ended finally but that was not true.
When Flora turned 1 and half, she got diagnosed with a severe heart defect which the doctors failed to identify at the time of her birth. Aniya took Flora to a very big doctor for her treatment because she was not ready to give up on her daughter at all and from that day, Flora's treatment was still going on and Aniya had full hope that her daughter would recover very soon.
"Momma, sorry," Flora's voice took her out of her thoughts. She saw Flora holding her ears.
"I will never ask you about papa's gifts again but don't cry please," the little girl's words made Aniya realise that she was crying. Just the mere remembrance of her past had succeeded in bringing tears to her eyes.
Sighing, Aniya wiped her eyes and cupped her toddlers face.
"Our tears are our power, Ora, because it makes us remember how strong we are that we have never given into our fears," she tried to make her understand.
"Really?" Flora asked, engrossed. Aniya forced a small smile and then pecked her forehead.
"Our tears make us stronger, Ora," she hugged her daughter and closed her eyes. Flora buried her face in her mother's neck and spoke.
"Then my momma is the strongest,"
Tears started glistening in her eyes more aggressively at her daughter's words. Was she really the strongest to endure everything? All she knew was that she was capable of enduring anything for her daughter and to what extent? She was going to find out about it very soon.
Sitting on a wooden chair, he was unable to move as his body was completely chained in ropes. Almost an hour ago, he was doing his job of snapping pictures of rich and famous people and their whereabouts but now he had found himself in this dark and inky room which was looking like some kind of old and abandoned storehouse, completely chained in ropes. The entire place was reeking of blood, dirt and terror which frightened him even more. The only source of light was a dim lamp illuminating over his head. Where was he? And why was he here? Suddenly his ears got filled with the sound of those heavy footsteps coming closer towards him and then that strongly expensive and manly cologne grazed against his nostrils before that huge tall figure came in front of his vision.Because of the darkness, he could not see the face of that burly muscular frame standing before him."Who are you? Let me go from here," that man yelled while struggling in those ropes. Finally the lamp above him turned v
Next DayHis private jet landed inside the boundary of Italy. Dozens of cars and his men were already waiting for his arrival. Stepping out of the jet, he shielded his dark brown eyes with his dark shades. His men turned alert and lowered their eyes in front of him and he, without saying anything, straight went towards his car. His guards and men followed him. His car finally drove away, followed by the rest of the other cars.Trailing his eyes towards the window, he saw the beautiful morning sky. The sun was illuminating, birds were flying. Looked like his home had also not missed him at all, just like him. In fact, his absence had made everything more beautiful here. Fair enough because his mere iniquitous aura held the power of staining even the invisible walls of the air.The vibration of his phone made him look towards it and he saw his wife's message. Without even making any efforts to open it, he completely ignored it because he knew she had messaged him to remind him of her da
"Please welcome, Mr Riccardo Alfanso and his wife, Mrs Valery Alfanso…." The manager's voice reverberated in that hall which made Aniya slowly open her eyes. She tried to look at that star couple entering that hall but her eyes couldn't reach them as the guests of that exhibition inauguration ceremony had started gathering in front of that couple so that they could greet them.Aniya could not see them as they were standing at quite a distance from the door but then she felt those sudden tingles emerging inside her tummy."Oh…no…" her voice made Flora and Niova to look at her."What happened?" Niova sent her a confused look."I need to use the toilet immediately," Aniya answered, holding her abdomen. Niova gave her a disbelieving look."How come you always get the urgency of doing the wrong thing at the correct time, Ani?" Aniya scowled at Niova's sarcasm. Her face twisted as the tingles accelerated."Shut up, Niva. I need to go,""Are you planning on running away?" Niova looked at he
"How dare you hurt my child?" Aniya's yelling resonated against the walls of that exhibition hall. Her sea-green eyes were fuming with rage as they glared hard at the manager in front of her. She could endure anything, any kind of pain but she was not capable of bearing a person raising even his eyes on her daughter with a wrong motive, letting someone to harm her in any way was not even a question. The manager looked at Aniya, shocked. He could still feel his cheek throbbing under his palm. She had hit him real hard. "I asked you something… how dare you to even think about hurting my daughter?" She seethed out, enraged. Every single person present in that hall watched her in utter silence, even him. "How dare you behave so brutally with her? People even think twice before dragging an animal like this but you were dragging a 3 years old kid so harshly? How filthy you and your thoughts are?" Aniya had lost her mind after seeing those deep red palm and fingers' print on Flora's arm.
"Aniya, that was not necessary," Aniya heard Niova telling her. They both reached Aniya's home after leaving that exhibition hall. Aniya didn't answer Niova and continued to tenderly stroke her daughter's head who had fallen asleep on the bed. Receiving no answer from Aniya, Niova sighed. She sat beside Aniya on the bed and placed her palm over her shoulder. "Ani, I know I could never even imagine the pain you must have felt after witnessing these marks on Flora's body but …." Niova halted. She was not sure how she should make Aniya understand the consequences of the massacre she had created in that exhibition hall, especially with Riccardo Alfanso. Aniya's eyes shifted from Flora's face towards her arm. She had already treated those marks of that manager's hand on her arm but they had still not faded completely. A tear slipped down from Aniya's eyes. She knew she might have behaved redundantly outrageous in that hall. People around her might think that her reaction was unneces
"What? But how could they do this to you?" Aniya heard Niova uttering in a displeased tone. She had called Niova this morning so that she could take care of Flora in her absence as Aniya was heading to her office. After receiving her termination letter this morning, she decided to go to her workplace as soon as possible and demanded an explanation for this action of theirs. How could they do this to her? If she really lost her job then it would turn her life upside down. "I don't know, Niva. Why have they done it to me?" Aniya spoke, buttoning the button of her formal red shirt which she had paired with a black skirt. "I received that letter this morning but for what reason they have done it, it's not explain in that letter," Niova sighed, hearing Aniya. She was looking extremely worried and tense which was understandable for Niva but then something clicked in her head. "Ani, do you think your sudden termination has something to do with what had happened last night in that hall?"
Cladding in a plain white knee length maxi dress, Aniya was combing her hair while looking into the mirror when she heard Niova's question. "Are you ready to leave?" Aniya dipped her head hearing her which made Niova sigh. "Think one more time, Ani. Do you really want to go and meet Kael Bruez?" Niova questioned, extremely worried. A heavy sigh escaped from Aniya's mouth. Niova had told her the type of work Real Bruez did. He usually dealt with illegal businesses but had a very high reach in the business world, so that was why Niova suggested Aniya his name for help in her situation but now Niova was somehow regretting it and Aniya could clearly understand her fear and worry. Aniya opened her mouth to answer but before she could do that Flora came inside the room, rushing. "Momma, that cartoon ended," the little girl informed as she was watching a cartoon film in the hall. The little girl's curious eyes looked at her mother. "Momma, where are you going?" Flora asked, seeing her mo
RED STONE CLUB Aniya read those bold letters, printed on the top of the gate of that place in front of her eyes. She reached that address which Niova had given her. Taking a brief glance around her surroundings, she somehow started getting off vibes from that place because she was aware of the possible things which might be happening inside that place but she couldn't just judge everything in her present with her past. Besides, she had to meet that man for the sake of her daughter's life and nothing and no fear of her could overpower that intention of hers.Exhaling a heavy sigh, she stepped inside that gate where the two bodyguards in the gate let her get inside after hearing her name and watching her face because she was all over the news after her first and last encounter with Riccardo Alfanso.Swallowing hard, she clutched the strings of her purse which was hanging on her shoulder. Dozens of men were present there who were looking like some kind of group mates. They all were glan
"So, handsome gentlemen…..hold onto your hearts," Flora announced, running out of the kitchen, making both her father and uncle Dario look at her. They both smiled at her while sitting on the dining table. "Your beautiful wives here finally, so please welcome ...Mrs Aniya Riccardo Alfanso and Mrs Niova Dario Quzer," she uttered while extending her both hands towards the entrance. Both Aniya and Niova walked in with the bowl of food in their hands. A smile was ghosting on both of their faces. "Gentlemen, please help your beautiful wives," everyone chuckled, hearing Flora's words and both the men stood up on their feet to help their wives carrying the food to the dining table. When Dario was taking them to a restaurant in his car, Niova called him and there she told her husband to bring the Alfanso family to their home for lunch as she had been missing them for a week now. Everyone agreed because both of their families shared a very deep and close bond with each other. "Where's Rica
"Papa….." Flora cried out, feeling the head of the gun getting pressed against her temple. Her watery eyes remained fixed at her father. That man pushed the gun more closely against her, bringing more tears in her eyes. Riccardo's each and every man turned alert because that situation had turned extremely dangerous. "Papa, please save me…." She started sobbing loudly. Riccardo keenly stared at Flora's every single action. That man chortled, hearing Flora's loud cries of help. "Seems like your daughter is not that brave like you and your son, Alfanso," that man remarked, gripping Flora's neck more tightly."You failed to make her like you. She is a fucking coward," he laughed at her helplessness. Riccardo didn't part his mouth to say a single word but didn't blink away from his daughter even for a second."No, please leave me…. don't kill me, please…" Flora cried out more loudly while shivering. Her whimpers made that man smirk more cunningly."Please. I am begging you. Don't kill me
"Today was so fun. I really loved it," A smile formed on Riccardo's and Aniya's faces by hearing their 20 years old daughter. "All thanks to my piccola for suggesting this idea," Riccardo uttered, focusing his eyes on the road while controlling the steering wheel of his car. Flora beamed, hearing her father as she was the one who suggested to have a family day out. "Yeah….yeah….you and your favourite daughter, dad," that voice made Flora trail her eyes down at her 16 years old brother whose head was placed on her lap as he was trying to sleep. Flora frowned and hitted his head. "Hey…that hurts, you ugly eagle," the 16 years old spat, rubbing his head and taking his head up from his sister's lap. "Aww! my little baby brother. Be grateful I didn't break your ugly jaw," Flora passed her brother a fake smile, making him scowl. "You both shut your mouths and don't you dare to start here," they heard their mother warning them, who was sitting on the passenger seat of the car. Riccard
"Ready," Riccardo tied Flora's pigtails, making the little girl extremely happy. Taking a glance at her reflection in the mirror, Flora showed her papa a thumbs up. He chuckled and pecked the tip of her nose."Ora, ready for school, baby?" Aniya entered their bedroom, carrying Flora's tiffin box in her hands. They both looked at her."Momma," Flora jumped down from the dressing table and ran towards her mother. She hugged her legs."Momma, is my baby brother awake?" The little girl asked, pointing her tiny finger towards her mother's swollen belly. Aniya chuckled. She bent slightly as it was almost the end of her third trimester of her pregnancy. "Yes, your baby brother is awake and he is very happy that his big sister is going to school," she said, making Flora clap in happiness. The little girl wanted a brother. Smiling, Riccardo walked towards them and then grabbed the tiffin box from Aniya's hold."Cara mia, you should rest now," he uttered, earning a tiny frown from Aniya. "It'
"Will you become Aniya Riccardo Alfanso?"Tears rolled down from her eyes, processing the meaning behind those words of his. Aniya had never even dared to think a moment like this would ever come in her life from the second she had found herself in that brothel. A kind of moment where someone wanted to be hers. A moment where someone would want to share his name with hers because for this entire world, she had become an object which only looked good when getting used by everyone but no one would ever want to get associated with her name, let alone attaching their name with hers but he proved her wrong in each and every possible way. Not just only his own self, he was now willing to share his existence with her.Riccardo saw those tears brimming in her eyes which told him everything which was going inside her. He had started understanding her silence more than he had ever even understood his own words. He palmed her face more firmly and leaned closer to her face."My life had taught me
At the breakfast table, when Riccardo saw Aniya leaving without eating anything, he understood something was not right with her. He had been noticing from the past couple of days that she was acting a little weird. She was barely initiating a conversation with anyone and was even skipping most of her meals. He had also noticed that she was looking tired most of the time, so he told her that they would visit a doctor for her checkup to which she seemed to tense up even more and denied him by saying that she was fine and it was just her monthly cycles. But today when he saw Bellyana following her to the bedroom, he understood something was going on, especially when he witnessed that distressed reaction on Aniya's face. "Ora, you play with them. I will be back. Okay, piccola?" He uttered while cleaning the little girl's mouth after he got done feeding her. Flora nodded at him and stood up on the breakfast table and walked towards her shades uncle. With a smile, Dario collected her in h
"Aniya," Niova's voice broke the bubbles of Aniya's thoughts. She recovered from her shock but her eyes were still focused on the television screen which was showing the news of Ryker's death in that bomb blast."Ani, do you think it's….."Niova paused but Aniya knew what she was trying to ask her. Aniya exhaled a very deep breath."I don't know. I will talk to you later, Niva. Firstly, I need to have a talk with him right now," she uttered because right now, she needed to have a conversation with him regarding this urgently."Okay, bye," Niova hung up the call which made Aniya trail her eyes back the television screen."Reportedly, this bomb blast seems to be pre-planned by one of Ryker Verlice's enemies who wanted him dead as the attacked godown is the belonging of Mr Ryker Verlice and the attacker was aware that Mr Verlice was going to be there that time of the blast," Aniya read the news which automatically started shivering her hands in fear. He took dozens of lives again and this
"I…I love you so much, Riccardo," Finally finding all her answers and comprehending her each and every kind of emotions and feelings towards him, she dared to utter those words to him because Aniya knew the aftermath she would have to face if she would let him walk away from her like this. Once she had terribly regretted, telling him to get out of her life and that night she was almost about to lose him and today, that thing was about to happen again and somehow she could feel that if she didn't stop him this then she would lose him for the rest of her lives and she was not capable of enduring it because she had fallen for him more than she could even understand and make anyone else understand it.She tightened her arms around him more and more."I love you," she softly breathed out while snuggling her face in his back. Her tears continued to wet his coat. Dropping his hand down from grabbing the knob of the door, he slowly turned around. Her heart ached badly, seeing those tears gli
"And he is Flora's biological f…father,"Riccardo became too aghast to understand anything after hearing those words from her mouth. His head turned completely blank whereas his eyes rounded, completely appalled. He couldn't just believe what his ears were hearing. Ryker was Flora's biological father?"Flora's father?" Even his voice was laced with shock and somehow confusion too. It brought more tears to her eyes. She wagged her head at him, holding back her tears from coming out of her eyes."Yes, he is Flora's biological father," she uttered while taking her eyes down. Again his eyes rounded more, hearing that thing from her mouth once again. His hands, on their own, fell down. He also trailed his eyes down towards the floor, trying to gather that information he had just received. Ryker was Flora's father? No, this couldn't happen. He refused to believe it.Snapping his head upward, he gripped her arms tightly and yanked her closer."Don't fuck with my head, Aniya," he glowered at
