BELLA
I blinked, expecting the too-good-to-be-true scenario that I’d imagined in front of me to disappear just as soon as I'd imagined it but it remained there.
He remained there, smiling encouragingly at me and gently nodding his head towards his outstretched hand, gesturing for me to take it.
I could not believe it.
I could not believe my eyes.
The students in the hallway were still whispering furtively between themselves, and I could feel the eyes on me, on us.
“My hand is starting to hurt, Sweetie,” he murmured in that deep husky voice of his, sending tingles all over my body.
And I didn't know when I raised my hand and placed it on his, the feel of his my hand in his making me feel an indescribable feeling that made it feel like my entire being was liquidifying and I was melting into the floor.
He pulled me up effortlessly as if I weighed nothing even though I was sure I weighed everything.
I don't know what had gone wrong in the universe or why this was suddenly happening but whatever it was, I expected that it'd end soon and he'd leave me as soon as I was standing on my feet but I got the shock of my life when Trevor didn't let go of my hand and gently started to usher me out of the hallway.
God! In what universe was this possible? How could this be possibly real?
Is this really real?
Is that Trevor holding the fat girl’s hand?
What’s happening? Is this an elaborate prank or what?
I can't believe this.
The whispers grew more and more but Trevor didn't pay any attention to them, just like he didn't let go of my hand till we entered my first class of the day.
And even then, he still didn't let go of my hand.
“Thank you,” I told him shyly, not meeting his eyes and looking at any place but his face.
“You’re welcome,” the deep timbre of his voice made my heart to somersault, made my cheeks to color up even more. I've always had it bad for him but standing this close to him for the first time ever, breathing in his woody and manly scent, I could feel my body starting to explode.
Some other students were in the class and even though I wasn't paying attention to them, I could see them looking at us, wondering what the hell was going on.
Just like I couldn't understand what the hell was going on either.
He let go of my hands then, slowly, hesitantly as if he never wanted to let go and that was when I realized the most absurd thing.
We were in my first class of the day, History Class. It was his first class too, I know that because we've been taking the same class since the beginning of the term but there was no way Trevor would know that I was in this class, he has never even noticed me. He probably didn't even know that I existed.
“How did you...” I stuttered as my eyes mistakenly met his and his deep grey eyes weakened my knees immediately.
I looked away.
“How did you know this was my first class?”
“We’ve been taking this class together since the beginning of the year, Bella,” he replied casually, shocking me completely because he not only knows that we've been taking this class together since the beginning of the year, but he also knows my name.
My name!! Can someone pinch me and wake me up now?
“See you around, Bella,” he completed with a wink that made me nearly dissolve to the ground as he walked away to take his seat just as the bell went off and the teacher entered almost immediately.
*****
I was still convinced that I'd hallucinated this morning, that I was going to continue the rest of my day and Trevor wouldn't pay attention to me and he wouldn't notice me again and I'd continue my days as the bullied, fat girl.
So I did not understand why when I was about to sneak away into the bathroom during Lunch to eat my food in the comfort of a closed closet, Trevor walked up to me again with that charming smile on his face.
"It's lunch Bella, do you want to eat together?"
I hiccupped, the sound loud and embarrassing that I expected Trevor to take offense but he just continued to look at me with that amused smile on his face.
"I... Uhmm... Don't eat... I prefer..." I couldn't get a complete sentence, embarrassing myself more and more in the process.
"You know what?" He asked and before I could blink or anything, he had already grabbed my hand and was already pulling me gently with him, "Let's just go to the cafeteria first."
Cafeteria.
That word, that place, it was my greatest nightmare, it was the place I detested going to the most. My first week going there was hell, the students didn't stop at anything to remind me that I should not be eating, that I should not be existing.
And Trevor was dragging me there again.
I expected to feel the multitude of eyes on me, on us. I expected the students to murmur and whisper among themselves and to point at us but none of that happened, not exactly.
They did point and stare but they didn't do it outrightly. And they seemed to be more surprised than irritated.
We packed the food we wanted and Trevor led me to a table that wasn't his usual one, the one he often sits at with his friends, the IT table and he must have seen the question on my face because he was quick to point out;
"I figured out that you might not be so comfortable with my friends now but we can always sit at the table whenever you feel like you're happy."
Whenever I feel like I'm ready?
Now, this was getting more and more confusing.
"Why?" I asked myself, surprising him and surprising myself too because he cocked his brows questioningly.
"Why are you so nice to me all of a sudden? Is this a date of some sort? Befriend the fat girl and sleep with her or something to make a fool out of her?" I asked, tears prinkling at my eyes because that was the most rational thing I could think of and something dark and feral flashed in his eyes for a very brief second.
"Because this makes no sense, you talking to me, you being nice to me, ditching your friends to eat with me, it all makes no sense and..."
"Do you remember the color of the gown you wore on your first day here?"
I frowned, not knowing where he was going with his statement because I was sure that on my first day here, I had worn the school uniform.
"It was a plain light purple gown with tiny sunflowers all over it, you had your hair tied in a ponytail just before you entered the school building but the rubber somehow snapped before you got to the hallway and you couldn't get another one," his face had taken on a seriousness that was so intense as he recounted my very first day in the school, one that I had even forgotten a major part of it and still, he remembered the intricate details perfectly.
"Someone left two rubber bands in your locker before lunch break with a note and with a note that said;
"looks like you need it and welcome to Everest High," we both said at the same time as tears filled my eyes. It was the only act of kindness that I've gotten in this school and it had come from Trevor? The number one student in this school.
I couldn't believe it.
"Your favorite Ice Cream flavor is mint, your favorite cake is chocolate, your favorite TV series is Game of Thrones, you really like Fourth Wing and your favorite fantasy book series is Six of Crows, you have a thing for the color purple and I know you want to publish a book someday and you're also a fashion enthusiast, you have lots of designs sketched in your sketchbook."
I opened my mouth, closed it again, and repeated that for like four times, unable to believe what I was hearing, unable to come to terms with the fact that he had been paying attention to me.
"But why? I don't understand... How did you..."
"I've always been interested in you, Sunflower," His answer was short and simple but I felt the sincerity in it, I felt an awakening in my body as his eyes remained locked on mine, communicating everything his mouth wasn't saying to me and that was when I realized that he was being sincere.
He has been watching me all this while, he has always been interested in me.
"But why now?"
"Timing Sunflower," he winked at me as he started pouring the cheese meats from his plate to mine and I did not need to ask before knowing that he knew I loved them, "It's all about timing."
He was right, it was all about timing. My life changed drastically after Trevor came into my life. I was suddenly the envy of most girls and they were all kissing up to me, trying to get into my good books, no one bullied me again, not even Mara, at least not in school, she kept her mean streak to whenever we were at home and it wasn't as explosive as it was before. I guess that was because she knew what Trevor would do to her if he got a wing of her being mean to me.
I was introduced to Trevor's clique and they were really nice to me. I never thought a day would come when I'd be excited to go to school but with Trevor, I couldn't wait for the night to pass so I'd be in school, so I'd be with him.
My crush was fast morphing into an intense love and even though he wasn't telling me verbally, I knew he felt the same thing too.
It was there in how he treated me like I was the most ethereal being he had ever encountered like I was beautiful and special and all that. He was picking me up from home and dropping me at school now and he'd take me back home too. I've never been out on a date, never been out with a friend but with Trevor, I was always going out, there was always somewhere up go. We've gone to the movies, gone to the arcades, to amusement parks, theme parks, and all.
And now, we just returned from the fashion show of one of my biggest fashion designers. I've never been able to attend any of her shows because the tickets were always sold out but Trevor was not only able to get us tickets, he secured front rows for us and I had an absolute blast.
We returned to Trevor's house, not the Alpha King's palace even though I've been there for like four times since we became friends but it was a beach house that was his alone because we wanted to watch a movie together before he'd drive me back home.
We were still settling in on the chair when I noticed that he was staring intently at me, at my lips especially. This wasn't the first time I'd caught him doing that but he always controlled himself and he'd look away but today, his eyes remained fixed on my lips, with an intense hunger that scared me in them.
"Fuck, Sunflower," he grabbed my chin reverently in his hand, "you're making this so difficult," he tilted my chin up and his thumb moved dangerously close to my lower lip.
"I've been dying to kiss you, Sunflower," there was a tortured tone to his voice as he slowly started to caress my lower lip, sending shockwaves all over my body and igniting a hunger that I never knew I was capable of in my body.
"Can I do that?" He met my eyes then, his eyes dark and intense, but still seeking permission and I had barely nodded before his mouth came crashing down on mine.
BELLAHis kiss was everything passionate and soulful. His hand remained on my chin as he kissed me as if I was the most exquisite thing he had ever tasted. He was going slow, kissing me reverently as if was an angel, a thing made to be worshipped. Even when the kiss turned outrightly hungry and feral, he still didn't stop kissing me as if he was in awe of my existence, giving me the kind of pleasure I never knew existed until now. I had no experience and I didn't want to do anything for fear of being clumsy and putting him off but Trevor didn't seem to mind as he kissed me more and more intently, passionately stroking his tongue with mine, causing mewls of pleasure to escape from my mouth. The next thing I knew, his hands were on my zippers and undoing them while his mouth still remained fused with mine and that was when I remembered that the lights were still on. I hesitantly tore my mouth away from his and even though he looked like he wanted no distraction with the intense hung
BELLAI ran.I ran as fast as I could, ran as I fell as I could. My vision was so blurry from so much tears that even my wolf’s eyes couldn't save me from stumbling and falling but still, I ran. I needed to get away, from school, from Mara, from the taunts, from everything. From Trevor.Oh, Trevor. My already broken heart shattered completely at the thought of him. I couldn't believe it, couldn't believe this nightmare, couldn't believe what had happened, what was happening. It had all been a cruel joke and as usual, I was at the receiving end of it. It was an elaborate prank, one that was orchestrated by Mara and Trevor had gone right ahead to play along, to play me, to make me feel like I was loved and valued. He had treated me like I was a Queen, like I was worthy and deserving but it had all been a lie. Was he hiding his disgust when he saw my body? When he called me Sunflower? When he told me he knew even the mundane things about me? Thinking about it now, I was sure it was
BELLAThe smile froze on my face and it slowly evaporated until my face was set in a grimace. The weight was suddenly back, this time heavier and I did not know when I jolted off the bed and grabbed my phone. My period... I hadn't seen my period in over a month, that harshly dawned on me and I could feel and hear my heart beating loudly against my chest. I tried to convince myself that it was all in my head but I was sure... I was sure I missed my period last month. I usually saw my period between the 18th to 22nd of the month but today was the 12th of the next month and... And my period was still... I haven't seen my period. I didn't see my period last month. What if I was pregnant? At this point, my hands were shaking visibly. Getting pregnant at this stage of my life was an absolute nightmare. No, it had to be some health issues. Maybe stress was delaying the flow or something else. The voice in my head didn't help matters. I could swear I wasn't alone in the room…"Bella, you ha
BELLAI was undettered by the heavy downpour and even though the road was slippery, I couldn't stop running. The only rational thought in my head was getting a cab and getting to the hospital. My dad was involved in an accident?I still couldn't believe it but the voice at the other end of the phone had been crystal clear. My dad was involved in a ghastly mother accident and he was in a critical condition. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I was punched in the face by the most horrible news that could happen at this time and as I sat in the cab that I was only able to flag down after trying for almost 15 minutes because of the heavy rain, I couldn't stop myself from shaking. Not from the cold, but from the prospect of what this accident could mean. My dad... My dad... My poor dad. I couldn't stop myself from crying and the driver, sensing what must be going on from the address he was driving me to tried to comfort me but my pain was too loud for me to even hear a thing.
Some years later. TREVORThe burden of what I was going through held me in choke hold. Only a few months back, I was sure of my position as the Alpha of the pack. I was sure of my Luna standing by my side all through my reign. We were all waiting patiently for the Luna festival, then suddenly, Mara ditched me.I thought I had it all figured out. I went out of my way to please Mara, doing everything to keep her by my side. There were side talks about how materialistic she was. Mara was at a party almost everyday…she was either throwing one or getting an invite to one. Everytime, I had to meet outrageous demands, but all that didn't matter to me. An Alpha will do anything to keep his Luna.I thought she was happy with me. I expected a smooth sail, I mean, it was Mara. She wasn't just any stranger, she was my friend too. I made her satisfaction my priority, little did I know she would put me in such a mess. Here I was, an abandoned motherfucker in desperate need of a second chance mate.
The atmosphere was charged and I sensed a familiar presence around me. It was so strong, it sent shivers down my spine. I knew someone was behind me and it wasn't just anyone. Then there was a soft tap on my shoulder, causing my pulse to race and the hairs on my skin stood erect. I dropped the pack of chocolate I was holding as I turned around to see who it was. “Mate,” that familiar voice breathed, the same one that had dipped my world into hell many years ago.A torrent of emotions swept through my body as I stared into those deep gray eyes. Trevor! He stood there, an intense reminder of my past. His eyes, although familiar, now held a gleam of authority. He was definitely not the same Trevor from nine years ago. I couldn't name what I was feeling; bewilderment, resentment, hurt, shock _ everything came rushing like a whirlwind. And anger. God! I was so angry. The intensity of the anger I was feeling was so extreme that I could literally feel myself shaking and convulsing in ra
TREVOR.I came back to an empty space. She was nowhere to be found. I looked around, nothing. I rushed outside to see if she was there, the bottle of water still in my hand. I was consumed with tension as I caught a glimpse of her hastily driving off, at a high speed.I felt a rush of urgency in my instinct, to go after her. I finally found my second chance mate and she just disappeared! My wolf whimpered, a deep growl forming in my throat. I was devastated. I ran my fingers through my hair, circling in agitation. I had to find her!I was desperate. My wolf was agitated. I kept gasping and howling. I beckoned on my trusted pack and had them find out who the stranger was.I needed every possible detail to unravel the mystery surrounding my newly found mate.***I was not myself after the encounter at the supermarket. I growled at regular intervals. My wolf was completely on edge. The thought of her still had my pulse racing. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that she esc
BELLA.I stormed out of the hall. Anger surged within me like a raging storm. How dare Trevor ruin such a special event for me! I was still trying to wrap my head around the "second chance mate" saga at the supermarket, now this!A public declaration of me as his mate?My wolf was wheezing as I rushed through the crowd. It felt like I could not breathe. I knew Trevor was daring, but I didn't think he could be this arrogant and narcissistic!I got out of the hall to find a crowd of reporters waiting for me, recorders in hand. They came after me like a swarm of bees."Madam…Excuse me ma'am," filled the air.I hated dealing with paparazzi, especially in a scandalous situation. Apparently they had used the main exit to block me. I quickened my steps as I rushed to the car waiting for me. I hit the driver seat with a sense of urgency and instructed him to zoom off immediately. That was not the end of it. On arriving at the hotel, there was another team of reporters. I cursed at Trevor und
TREVORI rushed Bella to the hospital. The weight of everything Bella went through affected her heavily. As soon as we got to the hospital, Bella was put in a coma. I stayed by her side for a bit and rushed back home to see my kids.As soon as I got into the palace, the twins rushed out to me. A flood of emotion filled my heart. I crouched before them and embraced them tightly. I rubbed their heads and nuzzled them, “Where have you been daddy? We waited for you,” Cara said.“I'm so sorry baby. I was busy saving mummy,” I told them calmly.“Where is she?” Craig asked.“Is she in trouble?” Cara asked.“Mummy was in trouble. I saved her already. Now she is in the hospital,” I said, kissing Cara's forehead, “How are my babies doing?” I asked,“Did you miss me?” I asked, looking into their faces. They nodded but their faces turned worried immediately as they looked at me, “What happened to your face?” Craig asked, touching my face.“Here too,” Cara touched my arm.“I got in a very serious fi
TREVORI watched Bella rush towards Denver. I wasn't sure what exactly she had in her mind but when I saw her get close to Denver, I knew something was about to happen. She pushed him. I watched as he turned around and gave Bella a heavy blow. She fell to the ground and became static. I wanted to rush to her side but Denver was coming right at me.I was furious, seeing that Bella did not move at all. The fact that Denver had hit her so bad. It infuriated me that he would put her in that state. I was livid. He was supposed to face me, why Bella?Running to her was not the best decision at that moment. I had to be cautious. I could not let my guard down. I also could not let my emotions control my actions. If I could take out Denver, then I would be able to save Bella afterwards.I had intentionally spent time listening to Denver and engaging him in all that talk. It was very timely, giving me time to gather my strength. I was shocked at the length Denver went just to have his way. I t
BELLAI coughed, trying to catch my breath. I was horrified at the thought of Denver marking me. I could not just allow him to sink his evil teeth into me. I was extremely disgusted at Denver for everything he had done. His presence repelled me. I could not believe I had once trusted such a devil.I was losing my strength. It was taking too long for Trevor to arrive and I was tired of fighting. I felt him reaching for me. I felt his presence stronger and stronger but he was yet to show up. When Denver said he was going to mark me, it was as though I should scream Trevor's name.I was also careful not to let Denver know Trevor was coming. If I made it known that I had felt his presence, Denver would know I felt him from our mate bond. He would then ambush and kill him before he could save me. I knew better than to reveal anything to him. From the things he said, I found out he had planned to kill Trevor. The gunshot at the palace was not a mistake, neither was the idea of the rogues. I
TREVORI sprang up from where I was sitting. I had secured Bella's location using our mate and her scent. I could hear her screams. I could feel her fear from the sound of her voice. I was angry with myself for not thinking of using our mate bond since.I was running out of time. I could feel Bella's energy depleting. Her voice was becoming faint and it scared the hell out of me. I called out to Kasper and he showed up immediately. Together, we went in search of Bella. My heart was thudding heavily against my chest. I had an extreme height of desperation. It caused me to feel uneasy. I ran at a high speed, with my men following behind. The mate bond which I had struggled so hard to use was now in full bloom. I felt Bella's presence more than ever and it spurred me on.My mind was spiraling with different thoughts. Bella's face came into mind. I would never be able to forgive myself if something bad happened to Bella. I thought about all the moments we had shared. The sound of her lau
I stared at Bella as she lay on the ground. Her breath was ragged and she seemed to have bruised a side of her face. Her eyes blazed with fury as she stared at me. Whatever was going on in her mind, I knew she wasn't leaving the same.I went towards the window of the uncompleted building and scanned the area. I wanted to be sure no one was around. It was a highly secluded area and the building had been abandoned for years. Everything was covered in dust and no single person was around.I moved closer to her and placed my food on her rib. She winced as my foot made contact with her body, “I will not watch you insult me!” I said and applied pressure on her rib.She winced again and gritted her teeth. She looked up at me, shooting daggers from her eyes,“Get off me!” she roared.I turned to the rogues standing by and burst into laughter, “Did someone just raise her voice?” I asked in a mocking tone. They burst into laughter too. One of them said,“More like the whimper of a puppy,” he said
BELLASome things were unimaginable. And one of the highly unimaginable things was being kidnapped by Denver. How was it even possible that Denver was the enemy we had been looking for all along? I stared intently at him as he moved in circles, spitting gibberish.I had done my best to be friendly at the event. To me, we just had to make peace with the enemies since they were tired of the war. Little did I know it was all a ploy to perpetrate evil against Trevor and I. It all made sense, the sudden outbreak of diarrhea. Definitely some sort of poison had been served to weaken the guards.I thought of my situation in the palace when I was abducted. I didn't know if Trevor was alive or dead. I saw him fall to the ground after being shot. I was on my way to meet him when I was suddenly grabbed and lifted off the ground. In a bid to free myself, I lost my shoes and my phone.I had been unable to calm myself since the attack. What was happening to my children? I wondered what they were goi
TREVORI had gotten a lot of information from the rogue. Including the revelation of who my main enemy was. There was a very high chance that Denver was behind every disaster we had faced in the palace. I didn't want to draw conclusions until I found my wife. The rogue didn't know where I could find the kidnappers, but his partner did. He had been uncooperative, but I had to find a way to get the information out of him. He was my only link to finding Bella and capturing Denver.I walked over to him. He was stubborn as a mule. But at this point I had to do whatever I could to find Bella. If he could at least tell me where to find the rogues, it would be easier from there. I shoved him on the side and his body turned over. I bent down to whisper an irresistible offer to him, but I meant the shock of my life.He was dead.I gasped in shock as I stared down at him. Dead? What the fuck! It felt like the entire universe was working against me. My only lead to Bella's location had died! I ro
DENVERA surge of fury rose in me as Bella blatantly refused to profess love to me. I grabbed her by her hair, “Say it! Say you love me!” I yelled.“I do not love you!” she fired.I exhaled in frustration. My breath quickened as I turned from her. I began pacing. Bella was pushing me beyond my limit. I did all I could to hold back, “You have no idea what you are missing. I have put my life on the line for you, countless times. But do you appreciate it? No!” I exclaimed.I threw my head back with my hands on my waist. I thought of things I could do to make her succumb to me. I was overwhelmed with frustration, “I have shown you pure love. I have done so much to prove my love for you. Yet, you do not acknowledge me!” I shouted at her.She shifted and leaned on her limbs. I figured she was trying to take pressure off her knees. I moved over to her and made her kneel up. She winced and swore, “Serves you right, ungrateful bitch!” I cursed. Some of the rogues were standing around, watchin
TREVORI was livid. I wanted to squeeze life out of the rogues for coming to take Bella. Every second spent with them meant extra time for Bella in their dirty den. I had to intensify the torture. Time was running and I needed to find Bella as soon as possible.Kasper brought in my iron rod. It had turned red from excess heat. He handed it to me. I grabbed it by the handle and walked towards the rogues,“You punched me where it hurt the most. It's time to pay back!” I said, fiercely.I had seen fear in their eyes, especially the other rogues. But they didn't seem ready to talk. I didn't have time to play games. I was ready to kill anyone, if it meant finding Bella. I made up my mind to burn them if they refused to speak, I was willing to go the extra mile.As I moved closer, one of the rogues began trembling. I placed the iron at the hem of his pants. It began burning. He wriggled with a loud yelp, “I'll speak! I promise,” he cried out.He tried to push his chair backwards. In the proc
