*** Manhattan, New York Alessandra I opened the door with a little more flourish than was probably necessary but I did not let that make me falter, especially when my husband and I's eyes met as he paused his journey towards this same room. I was caught off guard not only because of what would have been a disaster if I had faltered in my decision to make the first move but also the fact that he looked incredibly different now. His shoes, socks and coat were gone, his shirt was fully unbuttoned as were his slacks that hung deliciously off the Apollo V that framed his muscular physique oh so perfectly. His hair was mussed up, looking messy but in the sexiest way imaginable. There was something about the way he looked so...domestic that did not fail to make my heart skip a whole damn beat, my mouth dry and my eyes fixate just on him even though he seemed to be doing the exact same thing. He doesn't look like the put together Made Man that he seems to always be. He looks almost...nor
***The Carlton, New YorkDraken"The clean up was successful. No one is asking any rousing questions with regards to our involvement and the Moreno's are yet to come out with any kind of response to everything. Diego will be buried tomorrow in New York."Ioann's report was detailed, straight to the point and as informative as always of the inner workings of the pieces on our board. For the next phase of our plan to work, we needed everyone to assume their normal operations and responses to disaster as we originally assessed. We needed to ensure that are no surprises."They are not burying him in Mexico with the rest of his predecessors. That speaks a lot to his actions when he was alive. He must have greatly disappointed them, disgraced them enough to keep him from being buried with the rest of his ancestors. Not that he deserved the chance to taint the soil that rests some of the greatest men we have had in our world."I murmured, slowly making my way down the deserted hallways to wh
*** Upper East Side, New York Alessandra The city was bustling with activity as we made our way through it. I marveled at the buildings we passed, stunned by just how good they truly looked. Although New York had been my home for almost all my life, there were certain parts of the city I have never been to not because I didn't want to but because they were not part of our territory. The city had been divided up, long before I was born by the main crime families of the underworld- people like my great grandfather. Each of them had their own territories in which they ruled whereas the smaller gangs also had their own areas that were answerable to the larger, more powerful families. This meant that we could not pass through certain areas, unless given express permission by those who rule that area. Neutral territories were also a given in our world, places where we interacted without any conflict. The Upper East side was bustling with activity as we drove further and further away fr
***Upper East Side, New YorkAlessandra"The pots and pans are in this section and the spatulas are in this one."Frances, the mentioned house manager who turned out to be the sweetest man explained, taking his time to show me every single nook and cranny of the kitchen as he prepared a delectably-smelling Risotto that had the mansion filled with the intoxicating scent."Thank you, Frances. I appreciate all your help."I responded, genuinely meaning every word as the brown haired man granted me a small, handsome smile. Although he looked to be in his mid forties, the man was the definition of a Dilf- even though I have no idea if he has kids or not.Tall, average muscular build, full scruff that contained a few gray hairs that were equally in his hair, he was the picture of perfection and a michelin-star chef to boot.Could the man be anymore perfect than he already is?...And what the hell is he doing working as Draken's 'house-manager'?"I am happy to come in in any way I can, Mrs. Z
***Calvary Cemetery, Queens, New YorkAlessandraI took a deep, shaky breath, unable to stop my gloved hands from shaking violently at what was to come. I stared beyond the tinted windows, my eyes settling on the small chapel a few ft. away where a Catholic hymn was being currently sang, the sadness in every tone and word making the pit in my stomach grow even further.I felt uncomfortable, completely out of place and yet I knew I had to go. This was the right thing to do, the only thing I could do to pay my last respects to one of the few people who had been willing to help me. He was the only one who took a chance on me and I will forever be grateful for the sacrifice he was willing to make, knowing full well he could lose everything once his family and those around him found out."You know we don't have to do this. All you have to do is say you want to leave and we will. You don't have to subject yourself to all this unnecessary stress."Draken's voice pulled me from my many though
***Calvary Cemetery, Queens, New YorkAlessandra"Holy hell, you're really here! I thought the gossips were on crack or something."Tori exclaimed, pulling me into a longing hug that I revelled in, allowing myself to get lost in her scent and her comfort. I hadn't realized how much I had missed my little sister until she was standing in front of me, ignoring my Mama and Papa's frowns at her language.I inwardly breathed a sigh of relief when I noticed that Uncle Salvatore was nowhere to be seen. I was not ready- in the right emotional state- to go head to head with him or simply be in his presence. Zeno was here, though, a small smile forming on his lips that replaced the stoic look he had been giving my husband.Draken said nothing, simply nodded in greeting to my family who returned it with their own nods of acknowledgement."La mia bella bambina."Mama's hug was so welcome, so warm with the familiar scent of roses and home.I let myself enjoy her embrace, ignoring everything and ev
***Upper East Side, New YorkAlessandraThe car was parked at the driveway, prompting one of the available guards posted at the entrance to make his way to it and open my door."You can get out now. I have business to attend to."Draken's words were cold, dismissive and certainly out of character for him. Whereas he wasn't a very expressive individual, I had grown used to his ocassional jokes and the rare glimpses into his true emotions through the barely-there smiles and smart comments. Is he mad because of what happened at the funeral? Was he embarassed by the remarks made by Lucia? Does he feel disappointed that he didn't get to make his grand entrance like he wanted to?Every single speculation about why he could possibly be in such a bad mood irked and annoyed me. He had no right to be angry, not when my family had suffered the brunt of the shame and embarassment from Lucia's spiel. If anyone should be pissed the hell off, its me. I'm the one she came after...We had barely spok
***Upper East Side, New YorkAlessandra"Here you go. One glass of Iced Coffee with extra cream and sweetener. Enjoy."Frances stated as he placed the glass beside me, earning a wide, grateful smile in return. "Thank you. You are a life saver."I took a long sip of my favorite drink in the entire world, sighing contently at just how good it tasted. I was becoming addicted to Frances' way of making it and despite constant prodding, the man had completely refused to reveal his secret ingredients that made it oh so tasty."You really won't reveal the secret? I mean, I won't tell anyone. You have my word."I insisted once more, earning a laugh in return and shake of the head. The man was infallible and very good at keeping secrets as is. I guess it came with the job description what with him working for one of the most dangerous men in the world."If I tell you then it would take away the pleasure of making it for you. Besides, mystery isn't all that bad once in a while. It keeps things
