“You need to make a more gentle stroke there. It’s your face, don’t you know what your own face looks like?” Aira’s grandmother nagged as Aira sat beside her working on the huge painting that was supposed to be her own wedding gift.

Aira sighed and redid her stroke looking at her grandmother.

“No, grandma. I don’t stare at my face in the mirror all day long, so I can’t just paint it out of my memory,” She said.

“You painted your husband’s face well enough though. I bet you stare at him long enough to paint him out of your memory,” Her grandmother retorted.

Aira sighed and put the brush down,

“Alright, that’s it. Your time allowed in your workshop is up. You should be heading back to bed,” She told her grandmother who sighed not having the strength to protest against her.

It showed how much her grandmother still hadn’t recovered from her stroke. She was still weak and would get tired after spending less than twenty minutes out of bed. Most of her time is spent either napping or trying

Aira Stared at the woman before her as she smiled coyly. She was wearing a tight fit shirt and jeans in black with leather high heel boots. Her long hair was much like Vincent’s and her eyes were a deep green that made her wonder if she was his long lost sister. And her smiling lips painted red made her look like a predator who just finished eating his prey.Except that she felt like she was the prey and she had yet to be eaten. Because there was no mistaking it, despite the resemblance, there was no denying who the woman who stood before her was."Hello there, Nice to meet you.” She said before Aira said anything, “I'm Carla Valory," She said with a smile.“Nice to meet you, Carla. You must be one of Vincent’s cousins.” She answered. She’d only seen these kinds of things in scenes in soap operas. When the wife and the mistress meet. Or should she say the fake wife and the mistress?“You must be wondering what Vincent’s cousin is doing here visiting you like this,” She said.“I’ve ask

Now it was something he dreaded.Looking up, he spotted Aira’s black beetle parked in front of the house and he perked up hurrying up the stairs and opening the door.He entered the house and spotted Aira on the counter through the dark, then looked down at her luggage by the door. “You’re really here. I saw your car.” He said then added, “Did you need something?” Wondering why she needed this much luggage in the first place. He stepped inside removing his tie and he looked back at the luggage still thinking about the luggage. He was already having a hard time without her, if she tells him that she was prolonging her stay at her grandmother’s he was going to ask her to let him stay with them.“Why are you sitting here i

Her hopes perked up, but she tamed them down as her cynical side won over her emotional side. “I know that too. You needed me to accomplish all this. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been able to accomplish any of this,” She said repeating what that cynical voice whispered in her head breaking her own heart with each word. “I was told several times that you were a manipulative person. And I thought that I understood what they meant back then. But it turns out that I didn’t,” She said, “I never understood to what extent your manipulations could run,” Vincent’s silence was like a spear through her heart. She wanted him to reach out and swear that he didn’t do any of this. That this is another misunderstanding. Another one of his family’s schemes. “No, Aira. You don’t understand,” He said, not denying anything, he simply clarified, “I

“Wha- Vincent….” She said her voice heavy with panting as she looked at him with horror. What was he going to do with her phone?Without answering her she taped on the screen of her ringing phone answering the call. “Hi, Ian,” he said as a way of greeting and blood drained from her face at the realisation that her brother was calling her at this time. That’s right, he was supposed to visit their grandmother that night. “She stopped by to pick a few things up,” Vincent answered, “she seemed tired so I didn’t let her drive back today. They were pretty close together,” He said with a smile his eyes never leaving her.“They were. Which is probably why she sold the mansion to you. She wanted Aira to have it one way or another.” Ian said and Vincent remained silent for a while not bothering to answer that comment.“She told me that you had a fight.
