It was a pitching dark night when they finally left the tunnels and climbed back above the surface. Trenton instantly ordered his warriors to build a temporary shelter. Behind them, in the darkness, Peter didn’t see any lights from the city. “Do you think father is alright?” Ariana asked her mother during the second break on their way to the capital. They left Salstar two days ago and her father once again stayed behind. Ariana worried about him even more than she worried about herself. Her mother forbade her from shifting so for the past two days she has taken turns on the back of wolves’ warriors, isolated with her thoughts.Peter didn’t return to them the entire time they spent in Salstar. He remained outside of the city with warriors for the two days they spent in the town. Daniel carried Ariana straight to their shared bedroom. He had no responsibilities to attend to today. His adviser or his ministers could do everything that needed to be done. Ariana was blushing all over. She was sure of what would follow. The time had finally come when they could truly just be together. They all sat at breakfast as Atalante announced her departure for the day. She wanted to leave immediately after breakfast to get as far as possible during the day. Marcus arrived back at his castle. Although he rarely visited the North Wing since taking the throne, he headed straight there today. The servants serving his parents did not go to his part of the castle, and likewise, Marcus’s servants did not interfere with the goings-on in the northern part.
