More arrows to be fired at Cayden’s chest!
{Cayden’s POV} The tiny-looking maid shot to her feet in her fear while my gaze stretched at the sight. “How did you get in here?!” I asked the Straw-skinned woman but realized that her presence wasn’t as disturbing as her words. “And what do you mean by Isla is an Omega?” I added with a frown. I had seen the Old woman during one of Isla’s outbursts and she had looked really creepy and mysterious so there was no reason to be frightened by her sudden appearance… even though it was really frightful. The Old lady strolled towards me and I stiffened up my pose. She had a really weird-looking staff and a freakish smile on her face and it made me alert. If she did any weird shit, I wouldn’t hesitate to maim her. “You’re always maiming people around you. Both the ones you know and the ones you’re just meeting.” She said as she took a seat not too far away from me. She turned to look at Isla while I grew confused. Is it me or she just peeked into my head? That's creepy. I don’t like
{Cayden’s POV} So Isla’s painful and chaotic outburst is the result of my rejection? She had sacrificed her Wolf’s voice and taken an Omega form because she wanted to be with me? She had abandoned her role as Princess and future queen and had gone against her entire family because of me? And now, she’s in a Coma because of me… I slowly drove my gaze to rest on Isla while the Old lady and Andrea just remained mute and stared. Her body looked very pale and seemed almost-lifeless and the sight immediately filled me with misery. All these years, I had scorned, neglected, and ignored her but she had stayed and tolerated my insults. She had waited for me to love her but it never happened. It never happened because I didn’t want it to happen. To me, she hadn’t been the ideal mate I wanted so I settled to give my love to someone better, Ivanka. The irony in that sentence has me boiling with anger. I remember the night when I had returned from my outing after having sex with Isla for
{Cayden’s POV} “You love her?” I asked the angry bird of a General. “Yes, I do! And I want you to stay very far away from her. You belong to her past. I’m in her future.” He bawled. “Look. We’ve had this discussion before and I’ve told you she’s yours. I’m not trying to get back with her.” “Really?” “Yes.” I said firmly. The General grew a scowl. “Then why have you been visiting her even more than her own mother does?! I asked Andrea yesterday and she informed me that you visit Isla’s chamber every damn day and not less than two times.” He explained and I just stared. I didn’t know what to say. I hadn’t realized my frequency of visit was that…frequent. Since I realized that my mother was telling the truth about Isla saving her, I decided to begin visiting Isla but didn’t realize I was becoming this persistent. What’s happening to me? The raging General gripped me tighter, bringing me back to concentration. “You’re quiet! Can’t say anything in your defense, huh?” “You don’t n
{Cayden’s POV} I paced towards my mother. My ears couldn’t have heard right. Isla might never wake up again? “What did you say, mum?” I gripped her shoulders tightly. “Mum! What did you say?!” “Isla is dying!” She cried. She had tears in her eyes. I wasn’t mishearing. She just said it. Isla is dying. I turned to the Lord Luna and her tears looked more like blood in her eyes. She was sad and at the same time, she seemed furious. At me. “You!” She suddenly roared and every guard around her axis shifted away and bowed their heads, especially Carlot. He was already near the wall. The Lord Luna was mad. She had been tolerant towards me because she owes my mother her life but now, that devotion didn’t seem to matter. I loosened my grip on my mother and paced backward simultaneously bowing my head in surrender to her. I hated myself so it was understandable if she hated me more. She started walking towards me now, sharp long claws and threatening fangs inviting chilling terror. “
{Cayden’s POV} The battle has been going on for minutes now if not hours, and honestly, It wasn’t going like I expected it to be. The Rogues were brutally attacking and for the ones that were weak, their climbing numbers made up for it. I had also underestimated these Praised brothers. I have only succeeded in killing seven so far and I have to wonder. What’s making them so strong? Lacerations and rough bruises decorated my skin now and it was courtesy of the ruthlessness of these fuckers. These Rogues had to be fighting for a cause and not just rebelling. Something or someone must be behind this whole sudden uproar and distaste. I was very sure of this. The Rogues had countered our ambush move and stopped us here at the East gates. Someone must have tipped us off. Someone must have betrayed our plan and warned them. So It’s wise to suspect that there's a traitor amongst us, but that’s an issue for another time. For now, we needed to stay alive. We were fighting our way towa
{Cayden’s POV} I watched a circle of guards carry Lord Luna away to safety. She was still groaning in pain but her eyes were shining brightly as she gazed at me. They had a glint in them. A glint that translated to hope. She was hoping for me to protect Isla, hoping for me to do everything in my power to prevent harm from coming to her daughter. I heard a growl behind me and I swiveled around to see claws flying towards my face. I dodged it but I didn’t notice another heavier blow was directed to my sides. The impact sent me crashing roughly to the ground— again. I pushed myself up but the raging Rogue took me by my hair and flung me away. Literally, away. I groaned as I slammed into some rocks. Again, how are these guys this strong? My sides burned like a thousand stings and I staggered as I tried to get up, but then another bash sent me digging further into the ground. I held onto my face and my blood splayed over my fingers. I was bleeding and this Rogue wasn’t relenting.
{Cayden’s POV} Dread pumped through me in waves and for once in my life, the pressure staggered my person. I was scared. Three Lycans were in the hallway, bending chaos, and were about to march towards Isla’s room. Not one. Not two. But three. Judging from the mutilation, killing the other Lycan caused me, I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary fight. And it’s worse this time around. Because Isla’s life was in my hands. The Lord Luna, wherever she was, had left Isla in my care and was hoping that I would protect her daughters. So as much as this moment was dreadful and muddling, it wasn’t a time to whine. I needed to make it up to Isla… and one very good way is to make sure she lives. She can’t face all these tortures because of me just to be skinned to death by a Lycan— who, by the way, shouldn’t even be here! The question crept up. What did the Lycans want? Why were they here? Everyone has been so busy fighting that nobody has had the chance to wonder what these
{Cayden’s POV} The Lycans circled around me and I shared my gaze with both of them in grim anticipation of their attack. Their growls filled the air amongst others and I studied the details of their every move. Their guise told me that both of them were confident in the intentions— if not over, and I could use that to my advantage. The Lycan on my left jumped at me and threw heavy claws at me but I inched away just in time and dumped a blow on his face. The Lycan stroked his face and teased me with a laugh. My blow didn’t do much damage to his tough skin and it made him feel indestructible. But it was an intentional move on my end. Both Lycans, now refilled with assurance, pounced at me and I artfully evaded their blows but then the Lycan on my left clawed me across my jaw and neck so that I staggered away. I clenched my face as my blood slipped through the new slits leaving the Lycans to bob in their superiority. That’s the game. You have to buy them over. They need to
{Isla’s POV}I was robed in a very elegant dress, and the dress was beautiful this time because my belly wasn’t 30 centimeters big anymore. It was coming down to its normal size.It was the break of dawn, since I had spent the rest of last night giving birth, and the sunrise was beautiful. I stood now, watching it from my Chamber’s east window, and just then, I felt a hand trail around my waist before I took in the calling scent of my mate and father of my child. His scent and the scent of our Son were my two most familiar scents in the world. I’m still getting used to the latter since he only just arrived a few hours ago— but I’m getting used to it fast.“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” I asked Cayden, staring at the overlying colors of red, orange, and blue clothing in the skies as the sun rose.“It sure is.” Cayden responded, his voice sweet and gentle. “But it can never match your beauty, my Queen.” He added and I blushed violet.“Well, I know someone who is more stunning than me and t
{Isla’s POV}I groaned and then I struggled to push my eyelids open. It was weighty but I overcame it and became conscious to a piercing sound ringing near my ears.… and then I realized it sounded like a baby. At once, my eyes stretched wide open and I threw my gaze in the direction of the sound to see Cayden sitting before me, carrying what I suspected in his arms.A Cub. Seeing it, I became aware of the pressure on my finger and I looked to see that the Cub was holding my finger. I promptly looked back at Cayden, wanting to get some sort of clarification from him.He smiled warmly at me and leaned in to kiss me deeply on my forehead. I closed my eyes as he did so.“I was never going to let you leave me.” He said with tears in his eyes as he pulled away and then he gently handed me the baby. “Meet our Son.”A wave of warmth swept over my body as I motioned to carry the baby. I felt very weak all around my body but grabbing hold of the baby seemed to revitalize me. And make me emo
{Cayden’s POV}The rhythmic sound of an infantile cry filled the room and the moment I rested my eyes on our Cub, I froze completely. It was pink, breathing and crying. It was real. The Midwives carried the Cub happily and came close to me. “My King, It’s a boy.” One of them announced as they attempted to hand him over to me but then I was unresponsive. It was hard to move a muscle and I could only just stare. The Midwives proceeded to talk to me but then their voices sounded muffled to my hearing and it felt like the world had faded behind me. It felt like it was now only I, the baby, and Isla that were in the room— the family I had created. And I stared between both of them and tears glossed up my eyes. I was scared. But then I was…I was happy. Very happy.I couldn’t believe that this moment was real.I had a son.I finally had a child… with the woman I loved. I finally started my own family. “Your Majesty!”“My King!” I kept hearing them call me with their seemingly muffled vo
{Isla’s POV}I felt my blood pressure rise and its volume pushing against my veins as the maids and Midwives surrounded me in their attempt to lead me to my Chambers. But then Cayden offered to carry me and he did but he immediately put me down as I let out another piercing cry. Carrying me made it worse. It felt like my groin was tearing apart. My water broke and tension swept into our midst. But I still preferred to walk. And so, planting my arms on the shoulders of a midwife on my left and Cayden on my right, I painfully started strolling. The entire Hall of Blissful Lovers was dead quiet now as they all stared in my direction and I knew that this occurrence had successfully put, on hold, every after-party or post-celebration that was to happen.I didn’t want that.My mum and the rest of my General family rushed from the crowd to meet me now, and when they got us, they visibly panicked seeing my pain-stricken face. My mum immediately ran to me. “Isla!” She voiced. “Are you—”I gn
{Isla’s POV}The Divine bliss. That unearthly feeling… It poured on the Reigns as the Full moon poked itself through the Reignile Skies into visibility. It was magnificent. It was powerful and I could just feel its empyrean effect throughout the stretch of my body. Wolves started howling as fated mates found one another. I immediately turned to Daniel and Andrea to find out that they hadn’t marked each other yet. They didn’t need to…They were mates— fated mates! Fate had divinely bound them together! The Moon goddess does pay attention. “They are fated to each other!” I screamed and jumped. My mum and Cayden looked at me smiling beautifully too.“Yes, they are.” Cayden said with an obvious elation in his voice.“Which is no surprise. The moon goddess knows the right souls to pair, and Daniel and Andrea look right for each other.” My mother contributed and stroked my back comfortingly.I couldn’t stop smiling and staring at them as they hugged each other now. It was beautiful and t
{Isla’s POV}As I had calculated, there was still time for Andrea to do everything she wanted on my skin and my claws. After having a bout of entertainment— going to the dungeons and killing that Butcher Cunt, sitting in that make-up chair for a few more hours wasn’t so bad. I didn’t feel that bored anymore, and in less time than I expected, Andrea was done.I was in my beautiful Royal maternity dress— which was most importantly comfortable while Andrea was in a purple silk dress— the same one I had worn years ago when I had started this journey of hatred to love and scoff to intimacy. She looked beautiful and I had almost worn my cheeks off smiling at her. We were ready to leave now. It was nighttime and an hour to when the full moon would reveal itself and the moment felt divinely peaceful. But then Cayden arrived and we both had to start acting. — Andrea was not very good at acting or lying so it became an issue when Cayden asked what the two of us had been doing all day asides g
{Isla’s POV}I forced my eyes open and blinked, and then I realized I was in the Royal Clinic.I immediately shot up to a sitting position to look at my belly. It was still huge and there was no blood anywhere. I sighed. “Hey hey.” A deep voice said and Cayden gripped me comfortingly. I turned to him with a look of relief. “It’s okay. You’re okay. You just got dizzy and fainted so we had to bring you here.” He said and he pulled me into his arms and hugged me. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there.” He apologized.“Mh-hmm.” I wrapped lazy arms around him and hugged him back and then he kissed me on the forehead afterwards. “Your Mum and Andrea…” He started to say but then the people in question stormed into the room just then. “Isla…” My mum rushed towards us and stole me away from Cayden’s clinch. “Are you okay?” She cupped my cheeks and ran her gaze around my body.“Yes, mum. I’m fine.” I said to her and she sighed.“We brought you food.” She said as she placed a plate of some vegetables and
{Isla’s POV}It was now two days to the Night of the Full Mating Moon and preparations were heavily ongoing. This would be one of the biggest celebrations for a full Mating moon night so we had to make a lot of preparations and provisions.During the Last Full Mating Moon, the Reigns was in turmoil and there was bloodshed due to the Lycans’ attack, and so the natural process of being mated had been disrupted, meaning fated mates couldn’t conveniently meet each other and establish their union. So this next Full Moon which was just a few days away now was more like a combined ceremony— a re-celebration for those that had been mated last time and a mating Ceremony for those who were about to be mated this time around. So it was going to be wildly amazing with a huge love-filled crowd, but the best part?My best friend was going to be part of that crowd.I’ve hugged Andrea like a thousand times before now. And it would have been up to a million if Shrilly wasn’t always coming to interrupt
{Isla’s POV}[Several months Later]Over the past few months, life has proved that having Cayden in my life as lover and King would make things better. The first time Cayden replaced me to go and hunt down the Rogue Lycans, we were only halfway into our feast when reports came back that Cayden had caught the Pilfers— yes, I had sent some guards to monitor the process. Not that I didn’t trust Cayden but it had been my first time completely letting go of my responsibilities for another person to handle. So I had been really worried and couldn’t help but pry. But as expected, Cayden had effortlessly trashed and captured the Rogue Lycans and he’s been doing so ever since. We had tried several times to squeeze more information from these captured Rogue Lycans regarding where their other gang settlements were but it had been in vain. They preferred to be tortured and wounded rather than talk, so we had to carry on with our blind hunt for the rest. But then, the amazing part was that I di
