JEWEL'S POV
We were having a meeting in the conference room with some investors and as Henry's personal assistant, I had to be there taking notes and all that stuff. The meeting has been going on for the past two hours but I have not been listening to a word they were saying. My mind wasn't here at all. It was on something else.
It has been on that thing for the past few days now and it has been disturbing me. I have tried to downplay it but it keeps bothering me and I had no other choice but to think about it. Something had happened at home three days ago. I mean, when I had gotten home from the hospital where Sharon was admitted in.
Flash Back.
I honked for the gate man to come and open the gate which he did moments after and I drove in, parking my car next to that of my mum and dad's car. Tired
JEWEL'S POVIt was Saturday. Not just any other Saturday, it was the third Saturday of the month. A very important Saturday in my family. Why, you may want to ask? Don't worry, I'll tell you exactly why.The third Saturday of every month is the day all of us will come together as a family to have a luncheon at my parent's house. Everyone was invited and by everyone I mean Tayo and Pearl's husband, Kelvin and her children.I was still wary about the things happening with Pearl. I didn't confront her about seeing Kelvin at the mall even though I had caught her several times on phone calls with Kelvin and she was yelling at him over the phone about not coming home till she wants to. I only asked her to tell me again when she said Kelvin would be back but that didn't really turn out well because she snapped at me and chided me for asking so many questions. I quickly
JEWEL'S POVI got to my room, fuming and boiling with anger. I can't believe she brought that up on the table. She couldn't even keep her cool till the end of the luncheon. Typical Pearl who blows things out of proportion. She had absolutely no right to snap at me and call me names. When I'm not a kid! Before I could even think any further, my door flew open and Pearl walked in, stoic look and scrunched up face. I rolled my eyes and turned to look at her. We engaged in a mild staring contest before she spoke up. "You had no right working out on me." She stated, an edge in her voice and I scoffed, folding my hand across my chest. "You left me no choice." I answered. "Instead of you to have waited till the luncheon ended before snapping at me but you just had to make a scene. Typical Pearl, very dramatic." I said in the exact same tone
JEWEL'S POVI was at Tayo's condo, inside his room and lying on his bed. He had gone out to have a phone call with his Dad so I was left in the room in the pool of my own thoughts with the subject of my thoughts as Henry. He had surprised me that day. After he had finished dressing my injury, he had told me to get my things that both of us were going somewhere. Shocked and way too confused to ask any questions, I followed him, in his car.I rode with him at the back while his driver drove us to God knows where...Flash back "Where are you taking me?" I asked Henry for the umpteenth time and just like every other time before, he laughed out softly."You have never had a patient bone in your body. Not even once." He teased me and I rolled my eyes at him, a small smile tugging a
JEWEL'S POVI made my way to the rest room hastily, not knowing that Tayo had followed me. When I got to the secluded hall way, a hand drew me back before I could even enter the rest room. I turned around and met Tayo. I became even more annoyed so hissed and jerked my hands away from his grasp.Lets see what kind of apology he has cooked up in his head now. I thought to myself."You know, leaving the table like that was very rude." He said instead and my eyes widened, shocked that he wasn't even apologizing for the stunt he pulled."Are you kidding me right now?" I asked him, hoping that he was just joking but his stoic look showed that he had actually uttered that bull crap."You actually think I'm joking?!" He snapped at her. "You fücking embarrassed me in front of my Father's business associates and you think I'm
HENRY'S POV"I saw you dancing with Jewel." Henrietta mentioned as soon as I got to our table and I sighed, dragging a chair out and taking my seat.Yes, I had come here with my sister. My parents were and of the most popular business tycoons in the city and even I'm the entire control and they were invited for this charity ball. They couldn't make it so they sent my sister and I to represent them. This wasn't the first gala we would be attending in place of our parents but still I didn't want to come for this one because I wasn't feeling it. Obviously it was because I was lazy mostly because I knew how stressful this kind of gala was. As per my father's request, I'd have to mingle with most of his business associates and their wives. Those women wouldn't stop recommending their daughters for me. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
JEWEL'S POVI stirred, waking up slowly to a dim lit room. I opened my eyes wider, realizing that the curtains were drawn down which prevented the ray of light from penetrating into the room. I was grateful for that because it woulda have added to the very bad headache I was feeling at the moment.Gosh! What happened last night? I asked myself.Groaning, I got down from the bed. The air was cold from the air conditioning and everywhere was silent. I resolved that the headache was from too much crying last night as the last thing I remembered was seeing Tayo kiss that lady.Good riddance to bad rubbish. As I walked over to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I realized that seeing Tayo yesterday with that lady was just another sign from God telling me to break things off with the asshole. The relationship itself was more
JEWEL'S POVI dashed in to the hospital with Henry hot on my tail. My mind was in turmoil and I didn't know what to think. Immediately the call dropped, all my senses heightened. I had tried calling my sister's number again but she didn't pick it and that made me even more scared than I already was.Henry became worried as I had become even more frantic. I kept calling the number again and this time, it was Lyla that had picked up the call. The little girl was crying and had told me that her daddy had beaten up her mummy, before leaving the house in anger, leaving her mummy bleeding on the floor.I was angry, furious but most of all I was scared. I had to assure the little girl that help was on the way. Henry who had overheard the phone call already called his driver to go over to Pearl's house to pick them up and take them to the hospital. Then later, Henry and I were on our
JEWEL'S POV"Your sister is awake and she's asking to see you." The doctor announced and immediately, I was up on my feet."Where? Take me to where she is immediately." I told the doctor who nodded and led the way. I looked at Henry who had stood up too."Will you like to come with me?" I asked him and he shrugged."I'm not Pearl's biggest fan but it wouldn't hurt to see how she's actually doing. I'd just check in and then I'd wait for you outside." He said and I nodded. That was fair enough. At least Pearl would see that Henry had a good heart and meant well.Intertwining my hand with his, we followed the doctor behind as he led us down the all way and towards a corner. I was scared of what I might see. I didn't even know that I had tightened my grip on Henry's hand but he didn't seem to mind as he stroke my hand softly, silen
Third Person POV"Laura, it's so good to see you." Jewel smiled as she opened the door of the house. When Laura came in, they hugged. "Mehn! This your house gets me every time I come here. It's so massive." Laura looked around and sat down. Jewel chuckled as she struggled to sit down. "As if your house is not bigger. Abeg, what will you eat?" Jewel asked as she called on the maid. "I'm not hungry, let me just drink something," Laura replied and Jewel gave instructions to the maid who rushed back to do as instructed."How is work though, Henry will not let me come," Jewel whined and rolled her eyes"He cares about you jhoor. When you are carrying his baby, of course he won't let you stress yourself." Laura teased. "Working is not stressing myself Please," Jewel whined. "That's by the way sha." Laura waved the topic aside with
JEWEL'S POVIt took a while before my husband and I got alone time.My husband. I chuckled. It does have a nice ring to it. I couldn't help but smile as I started at my wedding ring. I was official his. No more obstacles."Why is my wife smiling all to herself." Henry's voice came behind me as he dropped his blazer on the chair. He had gone to see his family off. I looked at him, the smile not for once leaving my face. He walked towards be slowly, a glint in his eyes."I can't believe I'm finally yours." I muttered softy as he wrapped his hands against my mid rib, pulling me gently against his hard body."You had better believe you. You are mine...and I'm all yours." He said in a low and husky voice, his breath fanning my skin as he kissed my neck. My eyes fluttered close and I bit back against my lips to stop me from moaning out loud."I have so
Third Person POV"Marry me, Jewel," Henry said, on his knees with his hand stretching the jewelry box forward. Jewel gasped again and looked at the ring. It was a real diamond silver ring that reflected rainbow colors on the wall as soon as the sun fell on it. It was beautiful. Everything was beautiful. This was what she wanted. This was what she needed. "Henry..." She was utterly speechless. She didn't know how to bring her words out. On the other hand, Hakeem was scared that she might not be ready. That he might have read the signals too fast. That she was going to say no. "I love you so much, Jewel. I've loved you right from the day I met you ten years ago and I fell in love with you over again the second you walked into my office. I've never felt this way for any woman and though it's exciting, it's also very scary." He chuckled and Jewel joined him too, through her tears. Henry cleared hi
HENRY'S POVMy parents were having an annual get-together that coincidentally fell on my father's sixty-fifth birthday but I didn't want to go. Jewel was making me go anyway because she knew I couldn't say no to her. She came into my room to see me still seated, not dressed up. She wasn't dressed either but unlike me, she wanted to go to this party so she can dress up at any time."Baby, why are you not dressed?" She asked me, sitting in the bed beside me."I don't want to..." I started and she frowned at me, causing my words to cut short."You have started again, Henry. Why would you even say that?" She stated, looking at me with concern."I just don't wish to be among stuck politicians and business tycoons. I already have a lot on my plate as much as I can remember." I looked at her and she exhaled, bringing her hand to my face and stroking it gently."H
Recap from previous chapterOn cue Ademola came out of the theatre and walked towards them, removing the bloody glove and disposing them. Everyone sitting down, stood up immediately they sighted her."Ademola, how is my son ?" Taju asked even before Jewel could. Jewel could feel him trying to be calm but there was an edge in his tone."He is stable now, but he is unconscious. So, we have wheeled him to his private Ward and we just see what happens." Ademola said."Were there any complications. Is he going to be perfectly fine?" Jewel asked her and Ademola smiled."He is in shape. We were able to remove the bullet before it when deeper into the abdomen. It was so close to damaging his liver but we got there in time to remove it." Ademola explained and everyone heaved a sigh of relief."Can we see him?" Jewel made to move but Ademola stopped her.
Recap from last chapter. We were lying in each other's arms, naked. My fingers ran through Jewel's hair, combing through it."You don't have to do it tomorrow." I whispered, turning to look at her. She was staring at the ceiling."I want to." She replied, turning to look at me."It's time I teach that asshole some Manners."________________________________________Third Person POV"I'm so happy to see you made it." Tayo said, a sinister smirk spread across his lips and Jewel scoffed. "I fulfilled my own end of the bargain. You will do the same." Jewel replied snarkily and Tayo ch
Recap from the last chapter. I dashed into the police station and went straight to the interrogation room where they were definitely questioning Selene, ignoring the calls of the police men that stood by the reception table. I got to the interrogation room and met Henry, with the DPO and Selene handcuffed. Henry looked at me in awe. "What are you doing here?" He asked me. "She still hasn't confessed." He chipped in, pointing to Selene who just sat motionless in the chair, her eyes blood shot from so much crying. I began to feel pity for her. "That's because she didn't do it." I revealed breathlessly, shocking the hell out of them. Henry's eyes widened. "What did you just say?""I know who did it." I said and he urged me to go on. "It was Tayo that kidnapped Sharon."______________________________
Recap from last chapter. "I'm so much in love with you." He whispered and my breath caught in my throat. I'd never get tired of hearing him say that.Suddenly, his phone began to ring, breaking the spell we were in and he groaned, walking away from me to the living room where his phone was. Still awestruck, I began to button my shirt back up when phone was. Still awestruck, I began to button my shirt back up when I heard Henry scream in shock. Scared, I walked over to him to see him getting off the phone. "What's it? Why did you scream like that?" I asked immediately I got there. He looked at me, his eyes suddenly glassy with tears and his hand on his head. I immediately knew that something was wrong. Something bad. "Sharon is missing." He deadpan and all hell broke loose. ___________________________________
HENRY'S POVThe beeping sound pulled me out of the silent comfort of sleep. I opened my eyes slowly, reaching out for the source of disturbance coming from the bed side table. It was Jewel's small digital clock that was sounding an alarm. I dismissed it by pushing a button then going back to lie still on the bed, my eyes adjusting to the dim lit room.I looked beside me and saw Jewel was still very much fast asleep, partially covered underneath the sheets of the bed, wearing absolutely nothing. Her soft skin against mine as I didn't feel any form of material or textile between us.I blinked rapidly as the memories from last night surfaced in my mind, every single detail of it engraved in my head: I recalled everything, how our cloths had been torn off our bodies, how we had moved from the sofa in the living room and finally to her bed room, hands and lips exploring. I wonder how
