AUTHOR’S POV

After Elder Nam was killed, after she found him dead and lying still on the floor, Diana couldn't stop blaming herself for his death and that made her ache. Even though she was glad that their lives was spared.

Adjusting Nimah well, she continued her walk forward. Luckily, an heavy rain had poured that day causing them to leave early.

Maybe the goddess heard her prayer after all.

She felt Nimah’s stomach rumble slightly to indicate that it was time for food, luckily the little angel was asleep. Putting her down carefully with her back against the big tree, Diana made way to look for some fruit. She was so thirsty from how hot the sun was, however, she had no water left from the last one the gathered from the rain with the empty bowl she had stumbled upon previously.

Finally she caught a sight of a big tree filled with fruits, its branches way far from the ground level so she had no choice but to use a stick she picked on the floor. It wouldn’t reach and she ended up

AUTHOR’S POVThe drive had been a quiet one. Eleanor kept staring at the darkness that had now became a part of her. She felt her heart quicken every now and then and she knew they had to be fast.Damon had questions but he did best not to ask so it wouldn’t look like he doubted her.“So where to?” He asked simply because he had been driving for hours now and he couldn’t continue the trip to the unknown.Eleanor was silent for a while because she didn’t know too.“Where my misery started.” She repeated exactly what the voice had told her.“Huh?” He questioned and tilted his head to look at her, her words sounding like garbage.“That was what the voice said. The one who warned me.” She explained and heard him hum softly.“And where is that?” He asked and watched her shake her head in refusal.“I don’t know.” She responded in a low voice, everything starting to feel like a dumb move.Damon thought hard about it, replaying all she had told him in his head, maybe he might be able to figur

ELEANOR’S POV “I can help.” I heard her say as she knelt beside him. Her hair tattered and unkempt. Her face was covered in dirt and it made me wonder what had gone wrong with her. I was, however, never going to ask. I could tell that she was trying so hard to make things right between us and I knew that it would be best if she understood that it will never happen. Although, I no longer despise her, I still haven’t forgiven her for betraying her only family.Damon was my priority now.“Hang in there, Damon.” I whispered and nodded at her.“Give me some seconds, I will be back.” She informed and walked away only to return later with some leaves that she placed on his wound.I watched her tear off a part of her cloth and tied it around his waist too.“We need to get him out here for treatment.” Diana informed causing Eleanor to try lifting his lifeless body off the floor but it proved abortive.“Let me help.” Diana offered but Eleanor ignored. She wasn’t about to have anything to do

ELEANOR’S POVEver since my baby slid out of me like some hot pee, I refused to hold her. Even as she cried on and on beside me. I couldn’t tell where they placed her, and Nana had been the one to reveal her gender to me without even having to ask.“She is so pretty, just like her Mother.” Nana had said and my heart had clenched that night because I obviously no longer remembered what I looked like.It was so agonizing that I would never know what my baby looked like. That was one reason why I never bothered to carry her. It would be a pointless effort after all.The door squeaked as it opened and I heard someone walk in. The footsteps light yet clear.“You need to feed her. She is young and needs all the nutrient.” I heard Diana say and it revoked something in me that I couldn’t place a finger on.Was it hatred? Or anger?“I thought you left. What are you still doing here?” I threw at her, my voice showcasing how much I didn’t like her presence.“I know you despise me but I am not go

THIRD PERSON’S POVEver since Eleanor said no to Damon’s offer, she had felt a little bit awkward because he still treated her well regardless. He got some new clothes for Ivy as well and it made her feel bad.Maybe she should have said yes. He was a good guy but her life was too complicated and she felt like she might become a burden to him.“Your sister and her daughter will be joining for breakfast.” He informed after helping her down to the dinning room. Left to him, he would have preferred she had hers in the room, however, she was tired of sitting in one spot. She hummed in response. A little bit glad that she didn’t have the opportunity to see Diana because just hearing her talk made Eleanor want to rip her eyes out.“You two don’t seem to talk much.” He pointed out. He could always sense the tension between them both and it often made him curious to know why. People would have been happy to see a family of theirs but why was theirs different?Eleanor hummed again in respon

AUTHOR’S POV“Fuck! Diana!” Damon said aloud as he scrunched beside her, pulling her up with his hands. “She is bleeding, El. She needs to be treated.” He informed.Eleanor’s breathe hitched as she crawled towards his voice, stopping only when she bumped into something or someone.“Diana!” She called out and heard Diana cough softly.“I am…here…El.” She whispered weakly, tears wetting her lids. The pain from the sword dived into her heart spreading through her like wildlife.“Diana!” Eleanor’s voice quivered. Guilt eating her up because she knew this was all her fault. “Damon, we need to take her out of here.” She pleaded while trying to find Diana shoulders.Once again she felt so helpless and useless and she hated that.“We can’t, El. There is a sword stuck in her chest. Pulling it out will only result into her losing a lot of blood. We can’t lift her with it either because it might cut somewhere else.” Damon informed. He was so confused.Gradually the words sank in and Eleanor’s he

AUTHOR’S POV After Diana’s burial, Eleanor wouldn’t stop crying and blaming herself for her sister’s death. As she sat in the car that was meant to transport them to a new place to settle in, she couldn’t stop imagining how things would have been different if she had just listened to Nana and hid instead. The tears trickled down, warming her swollen cheeks and sliding down her clogged throat. Nimah was sitting calmly too. She had barely spoken or smiled since then. After she had watched her Mother being lowered into the earth, she lost every reason to be herself again.Love her for me.The words echoed in her head for the upteempth time, making her heart to squeeze over her over again as she thought of how to be Nimah’s Mother when she is the reason the real one is dead.“Forgive me, child.” Eleanor pleaded in her head.Ivy laid still in her arms as she slept while Eleanor pondered on the last images that had flashed through her mind that day.She was a witch, according to Damon’s o

CRUZ’S POV It had been hours since I sat here, in the car, watching the door as usual. Of late, I would do that for hours before driving away, back to my pack. And all through the five days of coming here, I haven’t seen Eleanor step out the house, except her husband who barely spent up to an hour at the mall before returning home. Now that I thought well of it, it looked more like an abusive marriage.“She might really need your help, Cruz. Stop being a coward and go save her.” I would often tell myself but I still never made an attempt.I wasn’t a coward. I was far from one. I just didn’t want to ruin in things for her now by showing up, plus what if she pretended to not even remember me.Letting out another sigh, I rub my aching eyes with the back of my right palm. I haven’t had a good rest since the day I was informed that she lived here because she had stuck to my thoughts like glue.Bracing myself, I pushed the car door open and stepped out, slammed it shut before walking towa

ELEANOR’S POV “You can’t avoid us forever.” I heard Damon say and I titled my head to look in his direction, only to be met with the usual darkness.“By us, you mean?” I asked out of curiosity. My breasts aching a little from having to feed Ivy. She was used to sucking the right one and would always throw a tantrum when changed to the other. Too bad Nana wasn’t around anyone. She had insisted on staying back to treat the wounded warriors.“Nimah and myself.” He informed causing me to nod gently before looking away.I was so just to being sightless by now, that it didn’t bother me much.He was right, though. I barely spoke a word to any of them. I still felt guilty for Diana’s death and the fact that I was a witch. I wasn’t entirely sure yet but the memories were gradually coming to me.That particular day that Mom had hid us, she had whispered some words while placing her thumb on our heads, before smiling and leaving us.“Decgonito Lameri Tama Nani.” The words floated in my head aga

My breath hitched in my throat, and my heart started to pound so loud as I watched Damon get closer.Who would have thought that he was the bad guy? “Don’t do anything stupid, Damon, please.” I pleaded, my voice quivering while my eyes stayed glued on the glittering knife he held.“Too late, El. Why use just her when I use you both? When can I finally get to rule the world?” He responded, a smirk curling up his lips.“Let her be, Damon. If you are truly a man, then face me!” Cruz dared, his pitch high as he struggled to set himself free.Damon let out a dry laugh.“A god, Cruz. ELEANOR’S POV“Sit slowly.” I heard him say and I nodded, bending low as his hands guided me. In the last few hours, the only thing I had done was nod. I couldn’t bring myself to say anything because for a weird reason, I felt shy. Not uncomfortable. My body, up to my breasts, hit the warm water and I felt my nerves relax.“Let me know when you feel uncomfortable, okay?” He said and I nodded briefly. I couldn’t tell what he was doing but soon the smell of Lavender filled my nostrils before his palms came in contact with my body again as he scrubbed it gently.
